With a second huge breath, she dived after it again, hoping to intercept it before it reached the bottom. Digging her claws in once again, she managed to reach the surface. With a shorter dive, she managed NOT to gasp and not release the prey. Trying to hold on tightly still, she tried to paddle towards Cheetahfang, hoping he could help her haul the fish to shore so they could kill it. @Neon Lights

he went closer to Splashleap then pulled her up by the scruff enoght to get the fish out of the water

Thanks! Splashleap huffed as she was dragged onto the bank. Yanking at the fish, she managed to heave it up next to her. Pouncing on it, she tried to bite it's neck, but it wriggled harder, hitting her with it's tail. Yanking out her claws, she tried stabbing it in her neck, finally hitting her mark. With a small purr of satisfaction at her kill, she straightened up, and mewed Well, we got it! Thanks for the help in the water by the way! @Neon Lights

"No problem!" he said smiling "Let's take it back to camp, imagine how our clanmates will react so you think Lionstar will be impressed?!"

I bet they'll be impressed. Hopefully it'll taste alright. Splashleap mewed. What if it tasted like dirt? Then they would have spent all that time for nothing! I doubt Lionstar will notice. He's usually pretty busy. she continued, reaching down to seize the neck of the fish. @Neon Lights

At least we got a big fish so next time we see one we'll know what to do.

Coastbreeze led Mosspaw into the scene of the cattail pond, his pace brisk yet just slow enough that the apprentice would still be able to keep him in sight. He paused for a moment, taking in the scenery before turning to him. "Okay, so what can you tell me about fishing?" It was a vague question, but he hoped the tom would know what he meant by it.

"Hmmm..." Mosspaw stares down at his paws. This would be his first test. He thinks for a second, trying to remember what he's heard warriors and other apprentices saying about fishing. "Umm, you have to be quick?" He silently hopes he's right, and shakes his head a little. @Zero

Coastbreeze let out a harmless laugh. "You're definitely not wrong there," He meowed, nodding his head. "Quick and quiet." The warrior led Mosspaw closer to the water, pointing to his shadow with a paw. "The first thing you need to know is that your shadow shouldn't fall into the water. It'll scare away the fish, so you need to be mindful of the sun's position when you approach." Coastbreeze squinted up at the sun for a moment. "Looking at the sun now, I want you to choose your own fishing spot. Sound good?"

Mosspaw nods enthusiasticslly, leaning over the pond. Seeing his shadow, he frowns, and pads along the bank until he reaches a spot where his shadow no lomger looms over the water. Quick and quiet, he thinks, so he looks over at Coastbreeze a few feet from him and stage whispers, "Is this good!?" @Zero

Spritedleap followed her apprentice attentively, her ears alert for any odd sounds. As they approached the pond with an abundance of cattails, she purred and sat down for a moment, "This is Cattail Pond. It's a great place for swimming and fishing. Sometimes you can catch fowl around here, but they're probably a little large for you to catch." She chuckled gently, her eyes watching the little one sweetly as Acornkit investigated.

'Patrol time!' Duckbounce was curious as to what animal they would end up hunting at the pond. Actually...it was most likely going to be fish—hence the water—but you could never be too sure if there was going to be another animal there or not.

As the molly and her apprentice arrived, Duckbounce walked up to the edge of the water. She saw.. fish. She turned her head a bit to the side so Lizardpaw would be able to see her better. "Do you know how to catch fish? If not, I'll teach you." The warrior let out a big warm smile. She started thinking about eating the fish they would catch, but then quickly shook her head before she got off task.

@Bread

Lizardpaw nodded. She had recently learned how to fish.
"Yes, I know." she said and walked over to the water. Her shadow fell on the ground, which saved her the trouble of scaring the fish away. She waited for her mentor to come join her.

"Good, good!" Duckbounce happily meowed as she walked over to the water with her apprentice.
The molly squinted as she stared into the water. There were fish scattered about, and she didn't know which would be the lucky one.
Before she had took too long, she plunged her paw down into the water. As soon as she felt something touch her paw, her claws unsheathed and she quickly pulled her paw back out of the water. Hanging on her claw was a fish. "Neat." She mumbled to herself. The warrior grinned as she put the fish aside to catch more.

@Shadeleaf

Lizardpaw stated at the water intensely. A silver gleam caught her eye. With a swift swipe the fish was flung out the water and bitten. Lizardpaw left it lying next to Duckbounce's fish and turned to the pond again.

Duckbounce smiled at Lizardpaw as she caught a fish. She then shifted herself so she was looked at the pond again. 'Fish. Fish. Fish.' Repeated in the molly's head every time she spotted a fish that was too far away.
Finally, a fish reeled close enough to the warrior. She leaned in and quickly put her paw in the water, bringing a fish out of the water alongside her paw. This one was very floppy, but Duckbounce managed to kill it and set it aside in the pile.

Lizardpaw was impressed by her mentor's fishing skills. Looking for a second fish, she spotted a big one slightly far away. Backing up, she ran at the pond, launched herself in and bit the fish hard. She swam back to shore, a large dark fish in her mouth.

Duckbounce gave Lizardpaw another nod of approval. She looked down at the pile; they did have quite a bunch of fish! "Do you think this is enough for now? Or do you want to catch a few more?"

River runner looked around the territory, a quick hunt wouldn’t hurt, I guess. He’d trot over to the pond, seeing the small yet appetizing fish swimming peacefully in the water. He flexed his claws in wait, his thin, silver spotted frame Tense

River runner pounced at the fish though seemingly he had been a bit off. The fish swirled out of the way and water spayed into his face. “Agh!”

Coastbreeze settled in, knowing patience was the key to fishing. Despite having a limited amount of such a substance, he had learned to suck it up as an apprentice. The young warrior watched the water carefully, waiting for a big fish to swim within his reach. When one did just that, his paw shot into the water quickly, hooking the fish with unsheathed claws and scooping it fairly gracefully out of the water. Then, while holding it down with one paw on solid ground, he killed it swiftly with a bite to the head. Clearing his throat, he turned to Mosspaw, not really knowing how to explain exactly what he had just done. "Just like that."

Where did you hook it with your claws, under the gills or just anywhere, and when you pull it up what happens if it gors back in the water? Do you have to bite it in a specific place, and can you get more than one at a time, and-" Mosspaw stops suddenly, a look of embarrassment rising on his face. The tom played out his explanations in motion as he talked, mock fishing each part out. "I would suggest, until you get better, to try to get the fish as far away from the water as you can so you reduce the chances of it flopping back in, so just try to scoop and toss it over your shoulder. And, as for killing it, you can bite the head or spine, or you can even whack it against something hard and it'll do the trick!"

Mosspaw sighs. "Ok, I guess..." he looks back into the water, put off by his first failure. When a fish comes by this time, he shoots his paw out slower and nearly misses it, but his claw catches it by its top fin and he pulls it out of the water. It takes him a second to detatch it from his claw, and once he does it flops around on the bank. "Uhhhh, what do I do to kill it again, Coastbreeze??"
