Re: RiverClan Training Island
@FuzzyRatto Owlpaw slowly nodded, feeling her pelt heat up from embarrassment. “O-okay.” She parted her jaws slightly, picking up a few different scents. She barely managed to focus on one before answering the questions. “I scent a cat from our clan, I think... Its kinda dull, and uh...” She turned to Lightstreak. “I think it’s safe.” |
Re: RiverClan Training Island
@Tundra
Lightstreak gazed at her apprentice, letting some of her approval show in her eyes. "Good. Do you smell anything prey-wise?" She sniffed the air again. There was a small hint of thrush. If Owlpaw couldn't detect it, she could teach her how to catch fish instead. Yes. This was all going well. |
Re: RiverClan Training Island
@FuzzyRatto “I’ll try again.” Owlpaw parted her jaws to try and pick up a scent. “I-I picked up something,” She took a few steps forward, her tail flicking. “It’s uhm, it leads that way.” She glanced up at Lightstreak. “...I think.” Owlpaw flattened her ears, growing nervous as she waited for a response. |

Re: RiverClan Training Island
@FuzzyRatto Owlpaw nodded and turned to continue walking. She paused for a moment, trying to pick up the scent again. When she thought she had it, she bounded forward, her ears swiveling around as she listened to the sounds in the forest. She slowed down a bit when the scent got stronger. Owlpaw briefly glanced over her shoulder to look at her mentor, then walked forward, nervously flicking her tail behind her. A soft gasp escaped her lips when she spotted a small bird hopping around. She turned to look at her mentor, waiting for more instructions. |
Re: RiverClan Training Island
@Tundra
Lightstreak nodded, and flicked her tail at he bird. She looked expectantly at the apprentice, then quietly got into the appropriate hunting position. [sorry-I don't know the exact details] |
Re: RiverClan Training Island
@FuzzyRatto [Thats fine!] Owlpaw watched as Lightstreak lowered herself to the ground. It took her a moment to realize that she should probably do the same thing. She dropped into a crouch, trying her best to mimic Lightstreak’s hunting crouch. Owlpaw shifted around a bit, trying to get comfortable. |

Dirtfur shook his head, dabbing dirt on himself once again. He ignored the dark lord's wish. The small warrior's ears were fuzzy in a way, and his vision was blurry and dull. He blinked a million, hoping it will go ahead. The mentor thought up any battle moves to teach this annoying pest; Wormpaw was wailing, wanting to do the offensive moves. The survivor glared at his apprentice, snapping his voice at the lanky tomcat. "Stop whining, are you an apprentice or some kit who doesn't deserved to be a warrior?" he snarled, baring his teeth; he had a bad day, his visions and hearing are getting worse and if Lionstar finds out, he'll never be a true warrior and has to become a warrior! Dirtfur then stopped, realizing that he shouldn't snapped at an apprentice, even a wailing one. |

wormpaw gazed at dirtfur, waiting patiently for a reply. the warrior seem distracted by something else. he suppose the death was also bothering the mentor. maybe the dirt was sad today. he paw at the dirt, the ground did seem droopy. or well mushy. it was usually like that however..? he blink, is the dirt depressed..? he raise his head, a bit surprised at being snapped at. wormpaw was quite used to it. 'personal space!' was one of his main reasons for the outbursts he guessed for most cats. wormpaw took a small step back, maybe he was invading dirtfur's space. he didn't mean to whine however.. wasn't please supposed to be a kind thing..? oh jeez, he couldn't keep up with manners. "are we learning defensive ones again then?" he questioned, brushing off the question. the lanky tom was pretty sure he wasn't a kit. kits were very much more.. rawr rather than roar. wormpaw figured it was the case, it was good to master defensive moves too. perhaps he could try adapting them to offensive ones in his free-time. that seemed nice. |

Dirtfur shook his head violently, what shaken the small warrior's nerves? "Yes- no?... No! We are learning battle moves." he stuttered, clenching his eyes that are starting to hurt. "W-we... will learn.. uum." he paused, opening his eyes to see more blur! The mentor turned around, facing away from Wormpaw. "You will... learn how to gripped onto an opponent's scruff and shake them violently, making them dizzy." he slowly explained, blinking once again. |
Re: RiverClan Training Island

wormpaw quietly watched his mentor's confusion grow. he tilt his head, that-- that wasn't where he was. was dirtfur's eyes also sick? oh starclan-- was-- was the apprentice spreading the eye sickness? he brush his tail gently against the warrior's back to help his mentor figure out his location. he slowly nodded, oh that sounded useful. it seemed pretty easy. considering as long as wormpaw was fast enough, he could use his height to his advantage to grab dirtfur's scruff. "um, yes. that sounds useful, " he mew in reply. "dirtfur, pardon my uh-- bluntness.. are your eyes sick too?" he rushed out. he was too curious. |
Re: RiverClan Training Island

Dirtfur stared blankly at the sky. He jumped as light fur touched his back. Turning around, he sees a blur figure of the apprentice. "Oh um... hey." he meowed softly and slowly, embarrassment spreads in the warrior's chest. Shock gleamed in his amber eyes. The mentor turned his face to the side. Will he lied to his apprentice? I want to be honest... Empathy pricked in the brown tabby's pelt. He started noticing that Wormpaw's eyes were sick, making his attacks hard to... well, attack. Then he nodded, sweeping his tail on the apprentice's shoulder. "Yes. Please promise not to tell Lionstar." Dirtfur begged. |
Re: RiverClan Training Island

wormpaw resisted to chuckle. that was definitely something mean and disrespectful. not to mention, it was his fault that his mentor's eyes were sick. he frown, would he have to be put in uh whatsyacall it? quarantine? he flashed a rare smile to his mentor, nodding. "of course not. we can still work and help the clan so it doesn't matter, " wormpaw mrrow, his eyesight wasn't as sick as dirtfur's yet at least. however as he became more and more aware of it-- he let out a helpless sigh. "hopefully shiverpetal has herbs for eye sickness, " he mumbled in a small voice. he still needed to see the damn med cat but boy, was he avoiding it. |
Re: RiverClan Training Island
. @Dirtfur
Hazelberry bounded up to the training grounds while she casted a glance over her shoulder to make sure Wolfpaw was still in tow. "Okay!" She straightened up, shook her pelt out. "Tell me, Wolfpaw, what do you know so far?" Since he was a reassignment, she wasn't sure where they'd need to begin. "How long has it been since you were regularly training anyway?" |
Re: RiverClan Training Island
@x ghostie
Dirtfur swore that he saw a smile from his apprentice though the dirty cat's vision must be messing with his mind now. The mentor smiled as Wormpaw decided to keep the warrior's secret. He nodded and hoped that Shiverpetal has herbs for eye sickness as well as ear disorders. But what if the medicine cat has none? ~~~He shook his head, remembering the battle move he was meant to teach to his apprentice rather than talking about their problems. "Right...." Dirtfur meowed, pointing his nose to a open space. "Go over there." the small mentor ordered. @Kitty Mama Wolfpaw followed his optimistic mentor. He looked back at Hazelberry who asked the apprentice a question. "Well... I learned how to dodge an attack and how to hunt." he admitted nervously, his last mentor didn't do much training with the young tomcat. "It've been... 2 moons?" he guessed, not actually knowing how long has it been. |
Re: RiverClan Training Island
Quote:
Her mouth could have dropped open in astonishment. "Two moons and that's what you learned?" They better have been doing some top tier, fool proof training if that's all he was walking away with. Nearing the training island, Hazelberry took that in and without warning, whipped around to aim a sheathed-claw blow at him. It was out of nowhere, but she wondered if he would still dodge it although it was unexpected. |
Re: RiverClan Training Island

Wolfpaw continued padding alongside with his mentor to the Training Ground. He swore that he saw Hazelberry's mouth was about to dropped, but it didn't. He checked the surroundings, remembering the time he was out here for practice with his last mentor. Out of nowhere, he saw a paw that was about to smack the apprentice's face! Swiftly and luckily, he jumped away, dodging the swinging paw! "Hey! What was that for?" Wolfpaw growled at Hazelberry. |

wormpaw nodded, walking over to the spot where dirtfur was pointing to. he lowered his head and braced himself to be shooken. he listened carefully-- something he was finally picking up on instead of relying on sight alone. at least his mentor's brown fur stuck out against the leaf-bare background. |
Re: RiverClan Training Island
@Tundra
Lightstreak's ears pricked up. Was that someone yelling from camp? It was faint. She got up from the crouch. Lightstreak felt concern grow. "Did you hear that?" If her apprentice didn't... Well maybe they should go back anyways. "I think there's something happening back at the camp. Shall we go?" Without waiting for an answer, she turned and started toward the camp. [If this is unrealistic (Lightstreak and maybe Owlpaw hearing it) tell me, and I'll change it.] |
Re: RiverClan Training Island
@Kitty Mama
The black chausie halted beside his mentor. He took some breaths to recover from the running he had. He looked up at Hazelberry, ears twitching. He looked away, trying to remember a time he was trained to attack. "Hm.... I learned how to leap onto a cat's shoulders?" he guessed; his mind was blank and couldn't think of a memory. "That's all I know." ~~~~ @x ghostie The tabby mentor watched as Wormpaw stood onto the spot. "First, you grab the hold of your opponent's scruff." the old warrior explained, padding towards his apprentice and bit softly on his scruff, this is a practice so there's no need to bite deeper or shook Wormpaw violently. Dirtfur mumbled through the apprentice's fur, "Then you clench your teef into the fur in order to have a good grip." |
Re: RiverClan Training Island

wormpaw flinch out of habit but relax his muscles from the contact. it tickled. everything in his body was telling him to shake the tom off. he nodded slowly, clenching his teeth to practice. "got it, let me try now, " he mew-- duck his head to break away from the warrior' soft grip. he turned around, his tail flickering. wormpaw seem to be generally excited at the new move. it seemed pretty easy. |

Dirtfur let go of his apprentice's scruff. He sat down and let Wormpaw try. |

wormpaw nodded, padding a few paw-lengths away before turning back around. he rushed at dirtfur, weaving his body so he would turn instead of crashing into the warrior- he twisted his head and gently sunk his teeth into dirtfur's scruff. he shook his head, giving the ol' tom a good shake. wormpaw took a few steps back after he was finished, scrunching his face up. "dirt's in my mouth ! bleh!" he stuck out his tongue, grimacing. not tasty :''(. |
Re: RiverClan Training Island

Dirtfur felt a small tug from his apprentice and a shook, though not violently. As Wormpaw backed away and complaining, the dusty tomcat smirked to himself for his clever idea of using debris on his scruff. "Well done, how's the taste of my scruff?" he teased to the tall apprentice. |
Re: RiverClan Training Island
@Tundra
Ah, well. It was probably fine. Lightstreak looked back at Owlpaw. The bird was gone, but she could use this time to critique her apprentice's stance. She walked over and pushed Owlpaw's hind legs together a little more. "Close. Keep your legs closer together, though. You want more height; without it, if the bird flies away, you won't land on top of it." Smell anything else? We can't go back empty-pawed." She parted her jaws and scanned the island's scents again. "There are others here too, now." |

Riverpaw stepped back relived Pidgeonpaw wasn't upset with her or anything. "Thanks... you did really good too." She meowed quietly to the younger apprentice. With her mentor's comment she turned to him. Dipping her head. "T-hank you." Riverpaw meowed to her mentor, ears swerving at Pidgeonpaw addressing her mentor. I couldn't handle having a mentor like Birchsnow... Birchsnow's whiskers twitched at Pidgeonpaw. She wanted guidance? That was new, this molly seemed to surprise her. "Statically speaking Riverpaw would be able to kill you. When you are knocked to the ground, or trip it leaves you open to fatal injuries." The warrior explained in her clear monotone voice. "First action is to get back from your aggressor, get to your paws then fight again. Or flee if it is best in the scenario." Birchsnow added icy eyes studying the apprentices. The glare from Eagleflight had gone unregistered. She was him but didn't register what he wanted from her. It was, puzzling. |

"Er...Good work, both of you. Let's call it a day, shall we?" Eagleflight commented, seeing the tension between Birchsnow and Pigeonpaw. The tension that the older she-cat seemed to be oblivious to. It might be best to wrap this up then. He flicked his tail in a gesture to gather everyone back towards camp. |

Dirtfur let a louder chuckle as the apprentice pulls a face and seeing his lips. "Sorry, no can do." he giggled. He raised his eyebrow at Wormpaw's mumbling words. Then a stare at the dusty cat made the old warrior concerned. "Um.." |
Re: RiverClan Training Island

he blink, clearing his throat. oh boy. he could have gave away his plan for the future-- that would be disappointing. wormpaw stood up, "did i do decent? can we learn another one?" he questioned eagerly, tilting his head as he awaited for a quick response. the apprentice wanted to learn whatever he could for the next battle that was bound to happen soon. wormpaw wasn't a minnow-brain to not realize shadowclan was stubborn too. |
Re: RiverClan Training Island

Dirtfur kinked his eyebrow, questioning the apprentice. Shaking his dead, the mentor moved away to another opening. "You did well," he praised the young tom. He looked back over his shoulder to look at the apprentice. "Well... if you're up for it..." the old warrior started, rubbing his earthy paws on the mud. "I can train you more on throwing mud." the tomcat feared that his apprentice will say no. |
Re: RiverClan Training Island

Wolfpaw perked his ears and listened to the molly's note. He nodded. As the mentor crouched down, the black chausie backed away and crouched down too, ready to attack his opponent. He reminded himself to keep his claws sheathed. Hearing the words to attack, he bunched his legs and bounced, leaning forward to aim at Hazelberry. |

wormpaw roll his shoulders back, blinking. he dip his head in respect, listening to the sound of paws shuffling around as he watched the blurry warrior move. he fidgeted, oh starclan no. wormpaw had learn his mentor didn't really hesitate with his words. which meant this was bad. he lower his head, heaving a big sigh. "dirtfur, " he started off, his voice strangely calm, squinting his eyes at the warrior. "i generally do not see where i can be taught on throwing mud. however, " wormpaw finally sigh, lifting his head up to the sky. regret filling his chest. "fi ne, " he sob internally. he didn't want to live up to his prefix. he wasn't a dirt-tunneling drypaw. he very much liked staying clean and the water...though, maybe it would be useful. |
Re: RiverClan Training Island
@FuzzyRatto Owlpaw swayed a bit when her hind legs were pushed together, but she managed to regain her balance fairly quickly. The apprentice rose to her full height with wide eyes. “We have to catch something?” She pawed at the ground as she scented the air... again. “I uh... There’s an kinda earthy scent over there?” She said it as if she were asking a question. Owlpaw stood there for a moment before perking up. “O-oh, uh, oops. Over there.” She flicked her tail to the left. |

Lightstreak sniffed the air again. "I smell it too. Do you want me to approach it, or do you want to try again? As for last time, you did pretty well. My only criticism is to actually pounce. Make sure you do that this time." She gestured toward the scent with her tail. |
