Re: Cattail Pond
There was something so soothing about the water. Perhaps Ruepaw knew it was the mark of her Clan. Perhaps the way it sounded when she dipped her paw in was soothing to her. Perhaps it felt like home. Regardless of the reason, Ruepaw found herself once again padding up to the Cattail Pond, sighing to herself, as meaningful of a sigh as a 6 moon old cat can muster.
She was feeling a bit... reflective this evening. Her thoughts swirled with the possibilities of who her parents may have been, and what could have become of them. Thoughts of the future. Thoughts of being a warrior and serving her Clan with determination and courage. As she settled down on the edge of a pond, hugged by the cattails that decorated the edge, she peered into the water to look at her reflection. Will I really be as big and strong as a warrior one day? What if I'm not? She scrunched up her nose in dismay, resting her head on her paws dejectedly. |

Peering over Mosspaw's shoulder at the sun, he began to stand up. "We should head back to camp since the morning is almost over. Maybe head out for more training when it cools off later this afternoon. Sound good?" The tom picked up his fish, waiting for his apprentice. |

Palepounce had been going for a quick swim in cattail pond when she realized there was an apprentice by the edge. More like a kit, actually, but the she-cat didn’t really care about Ruepaw’s size, especially since she was quite small herself. It had never limited her, and Palepounce saw doubt flicker in the small white she-cat’s gaze. She wanted to tell Ruepaw it would be okay, that she could do this, but her shyness held her back and she bit her lip. |
Re: Cattail Pond
@soot
Ruepaw's ears perked as her name escaped the mouth of a shecat that Ruepaw had failed to notice was taking a swim in the pond. Ruepaw felt a wave of embarrassment that a Clan warrior had seen her displaying such doltish upset. Ruepaw searched her brain quickly for memories of the warrior, and was glad she was able to place a name to a face. "Um, yeah! You're Palepounce, right?" She flattened one ear against her head, avoiding eye contact for a moment. "No particular reason, I guess... I was just thinking, y'know..." She took a deep breath, her eyes flickering back up to the warrior. If she was to be comfortable sharing her feelings with anyone, it should be her Clanmates. "I just... really want to be a great warrior one day, you know?" She left the rest of the sentiment unsaid, hoping that her initial statement would imply the rest. But what if I can't? The unspoken words lingered in the air, heavy on her shoulders. |
Re: Cattail Pond
Ahh, good. Ruepaw was more of a shy and nice cat than a mean one. She never did like interacting with jerks, unless they were telling her some juicy drama. “Yes, I’m Palepooce. Er, Palepounce, sorry.” Her face turned pink with embarrassment. She had just messed up a word in front of someone new!// @fuzzysocks |

Re: Cattail Pond
Ruepaw visibly relaxed as the warrior encouraged her, the overwhelming trepidation she felt since she became an apprentice dissipating into the cool evening air. Her eyes sparkled as she looked up at the warrior in front of her, trying her hardest to imagine that they once could have stood at the same size. Her jaw opened as she searched for something meaningful to say, but as tingles hurried down her spine the only word that exited the apprentice's mouth was, "Wow..."
She thinks I'm amazing?! Ruepaw had never heard such encouraging words from a warrior before! She was practically sparkling with excitement and newfound determination. She pulled herself to her feet, a new sort of glint in her eyes. "Yeah!" She meowed proudly. "So what if I'm small? I'm gonna be the bestest warrior ever! I'm gonna make Lionstar proud!" @soot |
Re: Cattail Pond
Sleepypaw @Cougar The tom had been simply standing in the Shallow pond, a furious expression on his face as he simply looked down at his reflection. His father was still missing, he hadn't spoken to Stingpaw in moons, and he himself has gotten lost. He hadn't even seen Dayheart in a few moons either. He was falling behind on his training, he was becoming a disgrace. Maybe he'd confront the tom himself instead. His tail slowly flicked back and fourth, causing ripples in the pond. He had to get his act together, he didn't have time to just simply sit around, wait for life to happen. He'd take it into his own paws, he was sick of waiting for things to fall into place around him. He'd make things happen. He'd cause events. His ears swiveled forwards as the clacking of pebbles echoed in the air. Lifting his head he made sure to change his expression to that of a curious look, hoping he wasn't too late. After a few seconds he simply gave a smile. "What are you doing out so late? Taking a dip as well? It's only a little chilly, but it really gets the dirt out of the spots I can't reach, which is nice." Sleepypaw hummed, shifting so he was now fully facing his new companion. |
Re: Cattail Pond
--Charredaw-- // @Starfall
Not really,I guess I was just taking a walk, maybe dip my paws in. I cant really swim so yeah. *Charredpaw nodded he was clearing his head,it pounded with demands! Go make your nest in the appertinces den,Train harder! Faster, lets go! Starclan was really as pissed at him* Really I dont really know,im just trying to clear my head, what are you doing out this late Sleepypaw? *Charredpaw ask the older appertince, his mew questioning and kinda tired* |
Re: Cattail Pond
THIS Splashleap mewed, her tail sweeping to show the expanse of shimmering water, ringed with Cattails is Cattail pond. It's called that because of these fuzzy things, that look a little like our tails! she had always thought that was kind of funny really. It's pretty easy to fish here, and apprentices learn to swim because the water slopes in shallowly. And this is where Thunderclan lived when their territory got burnt! she added, indicating the skeletal remains of dens, a faint Thunderclan scent on the breeze. @Ikoria the Wolf Pup

Re: Cattail Pond
We could try some swimming! Splashleap purred, making her way over to the water. Hopefully this would go well. First, get in until the water touches your belly fur.
Then, try and float a little farther out. You need to make sure you won't sink! she instructed, doing as she had told herself, and floating in the shallow water. With a small burble, she stuck her nose in the water and exhaled, clearing out any dust. @Ikoria the Wolf Pup |

Re: Cattail Pond
With a little chuckle as her apprentice told her the water felt weird, Splashleap purred Don't worry, you'll get used to it! So how's the floating going? Hopefully Stripepaw could get the hang of that, and they could get going on the actual swimming! Because THAT was the important part. The actual swimming. You couldn't just float and hope you went the right way! With a small snort at her own thoughts, she ducked her head underwater, her whole body underwater, and swam forward, gazing into the depths for any dirtfish. @Ikoria the Wolf Pup

Re: Cattail Pond
With a barely audible eek! as Stripepaw began to sink, Splashleap sped over, and seized her apprentice's scruff, before towing her, still flailing a bit annoyingly over to the bank. Propping her up, she asked Are you ok? She did NOT think Lionstar would approve of her almost drowning her apprentice on the first time out, and after the medicine cat debacle............she did NOT need him to get grumpy at her again. Because she wanted to be a GOOD warrior, and as far as she could tell, the best way to do that at this point was make the clan some warriors! Which was EXACTLY what she was doing here! But drowning.....would not help that. @Ikoria the Wolf Pup

Re: Cattail Pond
WHAT? YOU WERE FAKING? Splashleap squealed, actually reaching annoyance. With a snort, she gave Stripepaw a shove, back out into the deeper water. You stinker, get out there and SWIM, or I'll make you run instead! Or climb trees! You're a Riverclan cat! With another snort of annoyance, and a lunge forward, she gave Stripepaw another shove, out into water where she wouldn't be able to stand. And I'm NOT saving you again! @Ikoria the Wolf Pup

Can i join this tomorrow?

Re: Cattail Pond
Sleepypaw @Cougar The Tuxedo smiled worriedly at the other. "I see. Maybe just come in and take a dip than? Really it's not too deep. Rather large too." he laughed. The Apprentice looked around at the Territory, frankly he was wondering if there were more Apprentices just hanging out in the Bushes. He knew. He knew they needed an escort to go out in the territory but he didn't really care to have a Warrior sitting there babysititng him. "Gorgeous out, isn't it?" he asked as he looked up, not actually answering Charredpaw's question. |
Re: Cattail Pond
Sparrowskip woke up on a bright sunny day. Perfect. He got Cherryflight and brought her to the cattail pond to teach her swimming and fishing. Swimming first. "Alright Cherryflight, ready to learn how to swim?" @kittygirl
|
Re: Cattail Pond
Cherryflight was still a little tired, and rolled her eyes with a smile, ”ah yes I’m ready to soak my fur as soon as I get up.” she giggled slightly before stretching big and fully waking up. @:Grimm: |
Re: Cattail Pond
"Great!" Sparrowskip took her to the cattail pond and prepared to teach. "Alright, follow me into the shallow part of the water." He dipped into the shallow part and waiting for Cherryflight. @kittygirl

Re: Cattail Pond
She strolled forward and carefully stepped into the water, she shivered slightly when her warm paws touched the cold water. She never really stepped into water like this, it felt weird but oddly relaxing! @:Grimm: |

Re: Cattail Pond
Cherryflight hesitated before wadding into the water more and kicking her paws a little, she was trying not to panick and you could easily see the goofy panic on her face that said ‘I’m gonna die, I’m gonna die, ah, yes. I’m gonna die. Act casual.’ She swam in a small circle before pulling herself out to catch her breath, it was really tiring to swim! @:Grimm: |
Re: Cattail Pond
@Jessica1917
Rushingwind slowed to a stop when the pond came into view. His apprentice was fast! She was only a few fox legnths behind him! "ok." He mewed when she arrived. "I want you to stand in that shallow bit right there, and just stand still until i say otherwise." He instructed. |

Re: Cattail Pond
Basilpaw walked eagerly into the shallow water. She gave a small shiver at the cold, but soon got used to the feeling. She looked up eagerly at her mentor. Basilpaw lifted one of her paws out of the water. It felt heavy! @Bramblefire01

Re: Cattail Pond
"Wow! You did way better then I thought you would! I shouldn't be that surprised though, warriors are much stronger than kits and apprentices" Sparrowskip chuckled. "Alright, do you wanna try it a few more times or do you think you have it down?" @kittygirl
|
Re: Cattail Pond
Cherryflight didn’t really enjoy the water weighing down her pelt, but other than that the water was fine! She wadded over to sparrowskip and shook out her coat on him, ”I think I got the swimming part down, it’s tiring though so I might practice more later. But for now I wanna learn to catch some slimy fish!” she laughed a bit, she hadn’t really tried fish, she only ate it once before. Though she didn’t remember the flavor all that well. @:Grimm: |

Re: Cattail Pond
Basilpaw flopped on her belly into the cold water. She shook her head to get the droplets out of her face, and started kicking her legs. She tried to run. Run, Basilpaw, run! Running didn't quite work. She watched a frog swim by. It seemed to scoop the water with it's little froggy hands. She tried running underwater again. Only this time scooping a little more. That got better results. "Look, I'm swimming!" she crowed triumphantly. Swimming in water so shallow she could probably stand in it. But still swimming! @Bramblefire01
