Re: February Gathering

[As Riverclan are leaving]
Fogmask padded away from his most recent conversation, following the rest of Riverclan. As he approached the group, he noticed Salamanderpaw walking alone in the group, so he went up to them. "I know you didn't like it," he started once he came to Salamanderpaw's side and matched their pace, "but I'm glad that you tried talking to Quietmouth. It's a good thing to learn how to talk to deaf cats, as well as converse with those outside your own clan." He waited for Salamanderpaw's response, curious what they would say.

Re: February Gathering

How aggressive. Grottopaw's ears turned backwards at Rainpaw's open hostility. He was only curious! You couldn't just walk around like that and expect cats not to have questions. Twilightstar's daughter or not, he decided then and there that Rainpaw was not worth his time, and lifted his chin. "Grottopaw," he said primly. "Dawnstar's son." 'Better than you' was left unsaid, though he was certain it didn't need to be verbalized in the first place.

Before he could prod Coldpaw more about her eyes - or lack thereof, he supposed - he caught the look Mother sent his way, and he frowned back at her. He was only gathering information (apparently Rainpaw was mentored by someone named Leechscar, and Twilightstar had multiple children, so there were targets of interest if ever the need for them arose), but perhaps he was being too friendly.

Grottopaw closed his mouth as Mother went through ShadowClan's news, before tipping his head back to the WindClan duo and saying flatly, "Mother has already said everything you need to know."

RiverClan was leaving, and as Grottopaw stood and stretched in preparation of Mother's call, his curiosity overwhelmed his usual instinct to obey. He tipped his head at Coldpaw again. "If I stuck mouse eyes on your face, do you think they would work?"

Salamanderpaw falls in next to Fogmask with a bright, hungry look—no doubt expecting the good job, Salamanderpaw! that she feels owed. He doesn't give her one yet, but almost, with that I'm glad bit. Salamanderpaw's thick white tail whips behind her as she files out alongside the warrior.

"I don't care that he was deaf." She mews curtly. "It's that he was Shadowclan." And even then, it's not that she really cares about Shadowclanners in particular, but anyone who isn't a Riverclanner? Those cats can choke.

"But now I know who to ambush someday, at least!" She chirps happily, looking at Fogmask with a brilliant, toothy grin before her patience runs out entirely and she presses, "I did a good job, right?"

"True," Fogmask admitted, "knowing he's deaf does seem like a benefit, but he can feel the ground and know when others are coming when even a hearing cat can't. Don't underestimate him. I know I certainly wouldn't want to get on his bad side." After a moment, he continued. "Either way, you did do a good job, thank you."

Primroseadder let out a warm-hearted purr at the apprentice's enthusiasm. It was reminding her of the days when she was an apprentice, always begging Adderstrike or another warrior to take her out for training. The RiverClanner listened with open ears, a pang of sadness causing her heart to drop into her stomach whenever Gracklepaw mentioned the word Fury.

That was what she called Freezingfury, and he wasn't here tonight. But why would she be feeling sad?

''I assume that Furies are what Twilightstar calls WindClan's Elites, then,'' she mewed softly, wrapping her tail around her paws. ''That's cool. 'm glad that ya think so highly of your father, 'n ya should keep that up.'' You never know whenever he will leave you.

Primroseadder left that last sentence unsaid, instead choosing to listen to the apprentice some more.

"Oh, yeah. Furies are Twillystar's best warriors, like Pa! You can always count on 'em. I'm gonna make sure they can count on me, too!" The young tom kneaded his paws restlessly into the sand, enjoying the soft texture beneath his paw pads.

It was only then that he noticed the RiverClan leader starting to hop down— oh, were they done already? He pouted, giving Primroseadder a look. As much as he could've easily kept going on about himself and his Clan, he'd also been insanely curious and wanted to start asking Primroseadder some questions, too. But the RiverClanners were leaving, so he gave a snort.

"Mehh, looks like you gotta go. Maybe I'll catch ya next time — and I'll be even stronger, just you wait!" Gracklepaw lashed his tail playfully, waving the warrior off. Bless her heart for having been patient with the apprentice, as others might've been tempted to bap him on the muzzle for his endless chatter and boasting.

Even then, it was easy to tell that it wasn't just for the sake of pride; Gracklepaw was confident, yes (perhaps a bit too much). But he also had a huge heart for his Clan — and genuinely wanted to be a good warrior for them. That, and the accolades would be nice. But all in good time, eh?

"Byeee!!" He called as he scampered away happily, trying to see if he could greet someone else before all the Clans filed out.

Starrypaw
Riverclan | 9 moons
Mind Reader, Lucky Duck 3

The young apprentice's white pelt shone brightly under the light of the moon, and suddenly Starrypaw felt extremely self-conscious about it. She shook her head in a slight manner, one that no one would have noticed, or maybe the movement was entirely in her head. Either way, she had to focus and be rational. She couldn't freak out in the middle of a Gathering. And my first one, too!

Stagheart was talking about Thunderclan now, and the change of topic managed to catch her attention again (luckily for her). She was on the verge of asking what kind of threats Bumblestar might have made in public - wouldn't that be a bit like declaring war? But Stagheart was so calm about it, she must be wrong. "Yes..." She replied in a whisper, nodding in understanding. Of course, I would never try being friends with cats like Bumblestar...

Ouch!
A dark brown tom had almost bumped into her! She flinched backward, but the surprise was a lot and it took Stagheart by surprise, too. She didn't expect him to become this protective though, and oddly, she felt a bit sorry for the stranger tom who had just fallen in front of them. "It's.. okay, really.." She replied in a low murmur, but the cat had already disappeared.

"Oh... Wolfhawk."
The name hit a rough nerve, so much that she really struggled to hear the rest of Stagheart's explanation. He was giving her a long list of names she was sure she wouldn't remember, so she allowed herself to drown in the unpleasant memory that word was evoking right now. She had frozen from tail to limbs, diving deep into the memory of the first cat who had told her that her sister had been grabbed by a hawk in the middle of the camp.

It hit her so hard that for a moment tears threatened to fall, but then something else took her attention in an instant. Someone was staring at them.
It was a black and white cat with long scars on their shoulders and a deeply empty gaze that still managed to penetrate her through and through. Her pelt tingled.

| Lightningstorm |
26 Moons - WindClan Medicine Cat
Flock Together [Tier 3] - Active | Mind Reader - Active | Dreamwalker - Inactive | Katty Krueger - Inactive

Lightningstorm hadn't really been expecting an answer when she had called out to the handsome new deputy, but had she been expecting one, a fumbling little o-oh would not have been it. Unable to help herself, an amused fit of giggling escaped her, one dainty paw flying to her mouth as she tried in vain to cover up the laughter as nothing more than a mild coughing fit. Much as the herbalist was not naive enough to believe that good looks meant he would not be aiming to rip her throat if they ever were to meet in battle - medicine cats got targeted enough in her lifetime to not fool herself into thinking her position as a noncombatant was a safe or sacred one to her enemies - he seemed pleasant enough under the truce. Really, just a bloody shame she only got to see him once a moon and not enjoy his company as a clanmate. Fate could be so cruel sometimes.

"It is nice to meet me, innit?" the lithe calico responded, unable to help the singular tease before offering a less mischievous grin back at his sheepish one. "It's a pleasure to meet you as well, love."

Pleasantries with the pretty spotted tom out of the way, Lightningstorm noticed Twilightstar had taken center stage among the leaders, and promptly quieted down. Large ears perked up, wondering if she would mention... that. A part of her had been tempted to bring it up to the medicine cats herself... but a part of her realized that the WindClan leader might not want to divulge this information just yet. Perhaps she didn't think it important enough to share. Not that she could blame her. To Twilightstar, Crowtooth, and Rabbitpaw... her encounter had been just a dream. They hadn't seen it. Experienced it. Been crushed by it. No matter how seriously they took her, unless they lived through such an experience through a nightly visitor of their own, they couldn't possibly fathom that which was unimaginable.

And then there was of course the fact that she had no idea how to even bring a conversation like this to the other medicine cats, assuming Twilightstar had been just fine and dandy with sharing the information. It's not like she could just casually ask these felines Hey, you had any StarClan visits of late? No? Yeah... don't. Somehow, she had a feeling that would either be met with blank, confused stares or self centered looks of importance. She had no proof to this, of course, but life having been cruel and vicious to her... well... some would call her a pessimist, but really, she just liked to think she was practical and a realist.

Twilightstar's announcements finished and having centered on the problematic twolegs hanging around their territory, Lightningstorm sighed, the breath leaving her in a puff of frost. Owlstar's response came shortly after - and thank the stars for that, the weather was killer today - and she twitched her ears as the deputy's name was announced. Sunheart. It was fitting. More so than Crowtooth's, the ol' fart squirrel that he was. A small snort escaping her at the thought, she shivered, about to turn around and say goodbye to Berryshine - the RiverClan herbalist hadn't seemed the most chipper, a bit of a greeting wouldn't put any strain on her and might be a nice little pick me up - when she paused, a brow raised at Sleepysunrise's question.

Suddenly, she understood why Elmshadow and Cowtuft had preferred silence when surrounded by felines. Well... Tufty had been shy, so maybe not him, but Elmshadow had always given her the impression of a cat who was pretty much done with pleasantries. She wondered how many foot in mouth situations like these he had witnessed before he realized most cats had their heads too stuck up their arses to think before they talked. Because excuse?! Who the bloody hell asked any cat if the apprentice that had just been demoted was dead?! There had been a moment when WindClan's medicine cat had assumed the dark ShadowClanner's silence was similar to that of her predecessors, but stars alive she might just have the social aptitude of a dung beetle surrounded by nothing but flowers.

Gratefully, moons of practice had allowed the herbalist to remain with an impartial expression, her grin gone. Replaced mostly by innocent looking curiosity. One that only grew at Berryshine's bold admission. Almond shaped eyes glanced from one she-cat to the other, silently wondering as to the history of these two cats for a moment before deciding it was really none of her business. Unlike Berryshine and herself, Sleepysunrise had been a warrior before having been a medic. Odds were she had blood on her claws from her role in the clan prior to the one she held now. Lightningstorm could hardly blame a cat for that. As long as they weren't openly killing cats in anything other than self defense once they were a medicine cat, she held no ill will towards warriors that killed. She might have... once before. But life had a way of removing honor and common sense from most. As such, it was best not to expect it. Hard to be disappointed when one expected nothing from those who surrounded you for the most part.

"Later Berryshine," she cried out, choosing to act as if the conversation between the ShadowClan cats and the RiverClan cat had gone over her head, waving her tail amicably instead. "Let's hope for better weather next moon."

- Wolfhawk -
- He/They - 12 Moons - ThunderClan Medicine Cat -
- A large dark brown tom with a darker back and lighter underbelly, a missing hind leg -

*Wolf is not out as demi yet !!
Ok so he did remember the shadowclan medic's name, good. Wolfhawk gave a polite smile to sleepysunrise as the other leaders started their announcements, and it seemed there wasn't much going on in the other clans - beside riverclan, who had a new deputy. The tripod couldn't help but scoff as Lightningstorm and apparently the deputies were talking about Sunheart's pelt. It was... pretty, wolfhawk'll give him that, but he didn't really see what the point was.

Wait- sleepysunrise was talking, okay. The young cat diverted his attention to the shadowclanner as she talked to berry... okay what the hell was that question?? Green eyes narrowed, holding back a remark as he watched berry answer, and noticeably off. But he couldn't blame her honestly. But he had just one question -

"Why are all the clans acting so odd to each other?" they chimed in, a curious look on their face. After all, he had been missing and/or healing from his amputation around the time of the three v one, so he barely even knew it existed.

but it seemed his question would have to wait until next moon. The gathering had ended, and Riverclan was already leaving. He would probably lounge around just a tad longer until bumble gave the call to leave. After all, it was warming up a bit. But still cold.

The large medicine cat parted his jaws as a yawn escaped him - this was a downside of the gatherings, he had never gotten used to staying up so late. And if he did, it was mostly because he couldn't sleep. "Bye, Berryshine! See ya next moon!" Wolfhawk called out as the riverclan medic followed her clan out the seastones. In all honesty, the brown cat didn't mind being friendly with another clan. After all, she was one of the few medics who had actually been nice enough to him that he could consider her a 'friend' [however, if they were to meet in battle, that would be a whole different thing].

| Sprucejumper |
17 Moons - ThunderClan Warrior

Kitty Softpaws [T2] - Active | Ultimate Predator - Inactive | Agatha Kitty - Active | Not Skiddin' Around - Active | Amnesia - Active

Firebloom scooting closer, Sprucejumper wasted no time in wrapping his tail around her, providing some warmth against the unnecessary cold. At her mention of being incapable of imagining a thicker coat on hotter seasons he blinked at her, deadpanned eyes thoughtful for a moment before he shrugged. In earnest, he wasn't a fan of the cold nor the heat. Autumn would forever be his favorite season. It made for abysmal hunting, what with all the leaves scattered around and making for more complicated prey collection, but the weather was neither too hot nor too cold. And unlike in spring, it wasn't raining all the time nor was the ground muddy all over due to melting snow. However, he couldn't change any of it. He could only accept that the seasons had changed and live his life. As such, he wasted little to no energy thinking about it - outside of this moment, he supposed - preferring to just adapt and survive.

Her other question - one that seemed more understandable - catching his attention, the chocolate point blinked again, quiet for a moment. Truth be told, yes, he never came to these meetings. They weren't his thing. He'd just felt... well, social was definitely not the word. He never enjoyed the company of others. ...Present company excluded, he supposed. After all, Firebloom was an excellent companion to keep warm in this weather. That it was better to stay inside the warriors' den and ignore said weather went without saying, but logic wasn't what had compelled him to come. Obviously.

"Curiosity," he responded at last, offering another shrug.

It was as good as he could describe the original momentum that had led to him sitting besides her, surrounded by cats once again. He supposed, in a way, he had been looking for others... although not because he felt lonely or any other weak excuse like that. He was a well adapted cat, thank you very much. He just had a hornet to ensure was alright, having already noticed that The Boulder seemed to have become... scarce around camp. No. That wasn't the word. Cold? No. Not it either...

Distant? Yes. That was the word. And a word that was entirely at odds with his mentor's usual, happy go lucky self. In truth, Sprucejumper was worried about the feline, and more so now that he noticed he couldn't really spot them anywhere in the gathering. The fact that he could understand his apprentice more of late than his mentor was a matter for concern, and he realized he might need to take drastic measures soon. Such as seeking them out himself. And potentially prodding them to talk. How to do that was a question he would leave for another day.

Realizing his thoughts had wandered away for a moment, the brown furred tom turned his gaze back towards Firebloom, tilting his head as he assessed her. He wouldn't ask what she was doing here. He assumed she enjoyed company but was too shy for it. And if that wasn't the case... well it wasn't his business to butt in anyways. Yet a part of him couldn't help but be pleased at how the night had progressed. There were worst ways to spend a large meeting such as this. And more importantly, he could think of few better.

Crowtooth
Windclan Deputy | He/him | 55 Moons
Power Card: Cold Gust

Uuuuuugh come on Mistle! What a stereotypical shadowclan response!
Groaning and flopping into a slouch the tom lightly jabbed a paw into the mollies side at her scar comment, snarking "Scars are scars sweet-cheeks, aint nothin' too it. Though I will admit my facial scars at least make me a look a bit ruggedly handsome." The tom glided a paw under his chin, smirking playfully before sniggering, aware any potential attractiveness of his face was ruined by how awful his shoulder scars were. "Though Ill agree on the badger thin', mean buggers those. My scars" Gesturing to his naked shoulders "taught me yer leader chooses foxhearts fer mates sometimes, got Grimhound back pretty good though, heh."

His expression made it clear he was kind of teasing, well aware from her mooning looks Mistlewhisker was also probably among the 'foxheart mates' though the tom still wanted another chance at Dawnstars first mate.

Nodding along as the other deputies comments on patrols and prey the tom skirted the issue of how windclans prey was doing (not well what with the twolegs) by immediately starting an impassioned whine about idiots. "We're the same in windclan but by the stars when ya get a stupid cat messin' up yer day an' lovely calm patrols theyre EXTRA stupid.

Like maybe I dont know beavers an' Im totally in the wrong but back me up here buddy, they aint aggressive unless ya attack 'em right?! Like there's no reason ta attack 'em if ya just... see one around." Gesturing wildly in confusion at Sunheart by Crowtooths tone it was clear he was pretty sure he wasnt crazy here but instead someone had done something stupid with a stupid defense it'd baffled the windclan deputy.

They'd probably had lingered on the topic had Lightningstorm not been... Well herself and the tom quickly scoffed, rudely gesturing at the medicine cat playfully before sternly pointing at Sunheart and warning. "Dont indulge her. She's trouble that one an' those sweet words are a trap. Save yerself pretty boy, run fer it while ya can." Lightningstorm was going to hit him for daring to imply he was anything less then a delight (god the mollies in his life were EVIL) but he was a selfless martyr, protecting the new deputy. Such kindness, much honor.

Quickly the gathering was over though, and seeing off anyone set to leave the skunk striped tom occupied himself by sticking his tongue out at his foiled herby friend, tail flicking.
