Re: February Gathering
[As Riverclan are leaving]
Fogmask padded away from his most recent conversation, following the rest of Riverclan. As he approached the group, he noticed Salamanderpaw walking alone in the group, so he went up to them. "I know you didn't like it," he started once he came to Salamanderpaw's side and matched their pace, "but I'm glad that you tried talking to Quietmouth. It's a good thing to learn how to talk to deaf cats, as well as converse with those outside your own clan." He waited for Salamanderpaw's response, curious what they would say. @nyme |
Re: February Gathering
How aggressive. Grottopaw's ears turned backwards at Rainpaw's open hostility. He was only curious! You couldn't just walk around like that and expect cats not to have questions. Twilightstar's daughter or not, he decided then and there that Rainpaw was not worth his time, and lifted his chin. "Grottopaw," he said primly. "Dawnstar's son." 'Better than you' was left unsaid, though he was certain it didn't need to be verbalized in the first place.
Before he could prod Coldpaw more about her eyes - or lack thereof, he supposed - he caught the look Mother sent his way, and he frowned back at her. He was only gathering information (apparently Rainpaw was mentored by someone named Leechscar, and Twilightstar had multiple children, so there were targets of interest if ever the need for them arose), but perhaps he was being too friendly. Grottopaw closed his mouth as Mother went through ShadowClan's news, before tipping his head back to the WindClan duo and saying flatly, "Mother has already said everything you need to know." RiverClan was leaving, and as Grottopaw stood and stretched in preparation of Mother's call, his curiosity overwhelmed his usual instinct to obey. He tipped his head at Coldpaw again. "If I stuck mouse eyes on your face, do you think they would work?" [ @Rani @Estelle ] |

WE'LL BUILD A FIRE IN YOUR EYES ── ⋅ ⋅ ── ! ── ⋅ ⋅ ── SALAMANDERPAW . 11 MOONS . SHE/HER . RIVERCLAN Salamanderpaw falls in next to Fogmask with a bright, hungry look—no doubt expecting the good job, Salamanderpaw! that she feels owed. He doesn't give her one yet, but almost, with that I'm glad bit. Salamanderpaw's thick white tail whips behind her as she files out alongside the warrior. |

[While Riverclan is leaving]
"True," Fogmask admitted, "knowing he's deaf does seem like a benefit, but he can feel the ground and know when others are coming when even a hearing cat can't. Don't underestimate him. I know I certainly wouldn't want to get on his bad side." After a moment, he continued. "Either way, you did do a good job, thank you." @nyme |

At her mention of being incapable of imagining a thicker coat on hotter seasons he blinked at her, deadpanned eyes thoughtful for a moment before he shrugged. In earnest, he wasn't a fan of the cold nor the heat. Autumn would forever be his favorite season. It made for abysmal hunting, what with all the leaves scattered around and making for more complicated prey collection, but the weather was neither too hot nor too cold. And unlike in spring, it wasn't raining all the time nor was the ground muddy all over due to melting snow. However, he couldn't change any of it. He could only accept that the seasons had changed and live his life. As such, he wasted little to no energy thinking about it - outside of this moment, he supposed - preferring to just adapt and survive. Her other question - one that seemed more understandable - catching his attention, the chocolate point blinked again, quiet for a moment. Truth be told, yes, he never came to these meetings. They weren't his thing. He'd just felt... well, social was definitely not the word. He never enjoyed the company of others. ...Present company excluded, he supposed. After all, Firebloom was an excellent companion to keep warm in this weather. That it was better to stay inside the warriors' den and ignore said weather went without saying, but logic wasn't what had compelled him to come. Obviously. "Curiosity," he responded at last, offering another shrug. It was as good as he could describe the original momentum that had led to him sitting besides her, surrounded by cats once again. He supposed, in a way, he had been looking for others... although not because he felt lonely or any other weak excuse like that. He was a well adapted cat, thank you very much. He just had a hornet to ensure was alright, having already noticed that The Boulder seemed to have become... scarce around camp. No. That wasn't the word. Cold? No. Not it either... Distant? Yes. That was the word. And a word that was entirely at odds with his mentor's usual, happy go lucky self. In truth, Sprucejumper was worried about the feline, and more so now that he noticed he couldn't really spot them anywhere in the gathering. The fact that he could understand his apprentice more of late than his mentor was a matter for concern, and he realized he might need to take drastic measures soon. Such as seeking them out himself. And potentially prodding them to talk. How to do that was a question he would leave for another day. Realizing his thoughts had wandered away for a moment, the brown furred tom turned his gaze back towards Firebloom, tilting his head as he assessed her. He wouldn't ask what she was doing here. He assumed she enjoyed company but was too shy for it. And if that wasn't the case... well it wasn't his business to butt in anyways. Yet a part of him couldn't help but be pleased at how the night had progressed. There were worst ways to spend a large meeting such as this. And more importantly, he could think of few better. @Star [Firebloom] |
