Re: Cattail Pond
@Rainquail @Stonewolf Was this a bad decision? Doefeather didn't know. Yet she trudged along, her two apprentices behind her, hoping that she didn't get Duskpaw in trouble for bringing him along on the patrol. It just made things a whole lot easier, for the both of them. "So... hunting! You guys ready?" She tried to keep her voice light, though eyes were darting around, stress straining at her mind. Two apprentices?! From what she'd heard, one was enough! Doefeather's throat tightened, and she risked a glance at the two toms behind her. |
Re: Cattail Pond
Duskpaw looked around the territory as they walked, taking everything in. He had already been a little ways into the territory when he practiced swimming with some kits and apprentices, and when he first joined the clan, but he hadn't seen this part of it. He shook his long pelt and listened to the sounds of running water as they walked, smiling as he looked at the nature around him.
Duskpaw heard the light voice of Doefeather talk to him, but he saw the stress in her eyes. She doesn't think that she can teach us both...But I'll be the fastest learner she has ever seen! He smiled and nodded as him mentor asked the question. "I'm so excited! Just watch. I'll be the fastest learner ever!" He still hadn't forgotten how he had told his best friend, Dawnpaw, that he was going to be the best hunter the clan had ever seen. He quickened his pace so that he was next to Doefeather. "Hey, I know you have a lot on your shoulders, training two apprentices. But, I'm going to try to be the best apprentice ever! I hope that you'll be less stressed when you see me learn." He gave her a kind smile and than slowed his pace so that he was at the back of the group again. @Rainquail @TeamRiverRipple |
Re: Cattail Pond
Kricketchirp flicked his nub of a tail in irritation and offense at Doefeather's apprehensive tone. He wasn't a child like the other one..... Duskpaw, was it?
And there wouldn't be much teaching when it came to hunting. He did just fine. He wasn't going to say any of this or let his agitation show to the clan cats. He'd just have to show them what he could do. "I promise not to cause too much trouble for you," he snorted. @TeamRiverRipple @Stonewolf |
Re: Cattail Pond
@Rainquail @Stonewolf Doefeather smiled, and gave a small nod. She didn’t feel like talking, as it seemed both her apprentices doubted her trust in them. Which was stupid. They were her apprentices, for Starclans sake! Of course she trusted them! Gesturing to a nearby willow tree, she flicked an ear. A squirrel was buried among its roots. Glancing back to Cricketchirp and Duskpaw, she gave a small inclination of her head. |
Re: Cattail Pond
Duskpaw was studying Criketchirp as Doefeather flicked her ear, gesturing to the squirrel at the roots of a tree. Duskpaw shifted on his paws, feeling uneasy. Am I supposed to know how to hunt already? Are all kits supposed to? Dawnpaw didn't tell me that! He looked at his paws, wondering if he should tell his mentor that.
Duskpaw sighed and creeped quietly over to Doefeather, making sure not to alert the squirrel of his presence. "Uh, Doefeather?" he said in a quiet voice. "Um, I don't really know how to hunt anything yet...I only know how to swim..." He shifted on his paws, hot embaressment flooding through him. "I'm sorry if I'm supposed to know how...I just joined the clan a moon ago..." He glanced up at her, not sure how she was going to respond. @TeamRiverRipple @Rainquail |
Re: Cattail Pond
Kricketchirp was already in a hunters crouch and started stalking to the tree's roots when Duskpaw spoke up. "Just crouch and be quiet. Don't trip or brush stuff that'll rustle and you'll do good, kid." He hissed as reassuringly as he could, given he always sounded dismissive.
Remembering he was the apprentice as well, he glanced back to Doefeather. "Er, is that right?" Maybe they did things differently. He didn't know. @Stonewolf @TeamRiverRipple |
Re: Cattail Pond
@Rainquail @Stonewolf [thanks for keeping a posting order, y'all! It really helps!] Doefeather smiled at Duskpaw. "Well, this is where you learn. Cricketchirp, you go left, and scare the squirrel to Duskpaw. I'll be waiting behind him in case he misses." This would work out well, right? Nothing like her hunting fail with Brambleblaze earlier.. And, wow, look at her wonderful apprentice! Taking charge! "Yep! You're doing great, Cricketchirp!" |
