Fernkit had heard the game a little bit before. She had seen the other kits in the nursery playing a similar-sounding game. At her Twoleg nest, Fernkit always had furry toys that her Twolegs had supplied her and her family, and then she hadn’t had time to play in the wild while she had tried to track her father. So when the moss ball the other kit had quickly made cane flying, she let out a squeal and ducked. She watched the ball fly over her head and heard it land softly behind her. “S-Sorry.” She mewed. Her eyes were wide and she was clearly startled, but she got up and retrieved the moss ball. Gingerly the young tortie kicked the ball back over to Blizzardkit like he had done to her.

She couldn’t help but giggling along with him as the ball bocned against him. She watched with focused eyes as the ball cane towards her and this then, she was ready for it. She leapt into the air, and caught it with a delighted squeal. “Where did you learn of this game?” She giggled, batting the call back towards him a little harder this time since she was gaining confidence.

Fernkit watched the mossball intently as they batted it back and forth to each other with focused interested. “Oh. My littermates and I just used to play with the toys our Twolegs gave us. We didn’t play much either way though. We liked to nap.” She frowned then shrugged. She didn’t remember much of her siblings anymore and the thought of them was fuzzy, but Fernkit pushed them away. She didn’t want to think about her old family anymore when there was a new one right in front of her.
