"Mmm green-leaf is a real swell time too. I agree that it enhances the enjoyment of taking a dip. I find myself often going for a swim during that time. It helps soothe sore muscles too. I used to do it very often after battle training with my mentor. He always pushed me hard so that I could be prepared for anything. I guess I owe him so much for putting up with my headache-inducing chatter. Could you believe that I used to be very talkative as an apprentice? It drove my mentor crazy. I'm beginning to think that I also drove myself crazy." Creekflow replied, eyes misting over with a vague wistfulness. He quickly turned his attention back the the she-cat as she continued on.

The mottled warrior tensed a tiny bit at the mention of his rock collection. He shoved away that feeling hastily. There was no need to be so defensive. She enjoyable company and it wouldn't hurt him at all if he spilled the beans on his little pastime.

"Well, I started my collection early on in my apprenticeship, when I spotted a glossy green stripped one near Lionsbeach, soon becoming my favorite thing to play around with. I've always had a knack for shiny things, ever since I was a kit, but this rock was so intriguing to me that I had to take it back and hide it under my nest. Ever since then, I scoured the whole territory to find the coolest and most unique rocks to add to my collection, which has grown so much since then. It's super relaxing just inspecting rocks and taking a stroll at the same time." he answered, a lopsided grin plastered on his lax face. His collection probably has dozens of stones. He was quite proud to have amassed such an amount of diverse rocks.

He cleared his throat before continuing, "I kept this mostly secret because I'm a bit scared of someone stealing them. I've had it happen a few times and I don't know why but I tend to freak out if I'm missing some. I know it's a bit weird but I guess it's just the feeling of something that brings you comfort being stripped away from you. I've never really had friends so collecting is what helped to occupy and entertain me." The mottled warrior offered her a tiny, sad smile before shaking his head and shooting her an apologetic glance.

"Sorry. Kinda rambled on there... Anyway, if you want to start a collection, I suggest looking about for things that catch your interest and starting slow. Don't grow it too fast or you're gonna run outta room to put them anywhere. Do a few a day and savor the peaceful moments. At least, that's what I tend to do. Also, I suppose I just became an addition to your unintentional collection? Honestly, I think i'm the prettiest one you've "collected" so far." he said, voice taking more of a playful and light-hearted tone near the end. He nudged her shoulder teasingly before gracefully leaping over the log, just as Silverpool had done.

"Do you ever wonder how different your life would be if you had been born into a different clan? I really haven't but it's an interesting thing to think about, don't ya agree?" he meowed, face scrunched in a thoughtful manner.

Almondspirit desided to take a walk in the "haunted" woods. He didn't belive in the 'ghost', he was going to leave alive.

Beanpaw

The siamese cat relaxed a little bit as the cat introduced themself as Sparrowskip. Ahh, so he had been close. Ish? What was a scarecrow, by the way? The word had just popped into his brain, and he wasn’t sure. Probably a human word. Aaanyway. Oh. Oh! He had been asked a question. "Oh! Yeah, I’m Beanpaw! Hoping to be Bean... well, something other than paw soon." he pushed his remaining sad thoughts behind him to focus on this conversation. And hoping they would leave him alone. Oh. It was too quiet. Uh. "So, um, what brings you out here?"

Stormtalon's whiskers twitched in amusement, because honestly, he hadn't expected that response. It was always a pleasant surprise when a cat could be clever. Breezehen's creativity almost made up for her audacity in interrupting his thoughts--almost.

He fixed the approaching warrior with a passively observing, green-eyed stare, only somewhat recognizing her tabby pelt and hazel eyes. Stormtalon didn't know Breezehen personally. He remembered hearing the she-cat's name once or twice, but that was about how well he knew most clanmates, considering his strong dislike of small-talk and stupidity. Most of the time he thought it best to avoid them altogether.

"Excellent point," Storm mewed, affirming, though the tone of his voice remained neutral. He marveled at himself. The point of this blasted hunt was to be alone so he might untangle his irksome thoughts, yet here Stormtalon was, facilitating more conversation. Wonderful. "So you're not familiar with RiverClan's ghost stories? Probably for the best. Even if they're all true...which they're not...I don't understand why cats would be afraid of such a ridiculous thing."

Stormtalon tilted his head, arching cat brows while he regarded Breeze with scrutiny. The sleepy thicket wasn't exactly RiverClan's favorite hunting ground, as far as he knew, what with its swaying trees overhead sending pockets of light and shadow to the earth beneath their paws. No water in sight. "What are you doing out here?"

Breezehen snorted in playful amusement. She didn't know many ghost stories to begin with, really. She had never been one for stories about unreal things, ghosts especially. They weren't scary, just sad.
You'd have to be very unhappy to cling to the material world, she felt.
She didn't know this cat, but was glad they seemed to share the same views about ghosts.
"Oh, well, I've never been one for ghost stories. Always liked real things, ya know? My unfamiliarity to the story could also stem from the fact I was raised ThunderClan. I only joined a few moons ago."
Her admittance was soft and followed by a shrug of her shoulders.
"I was.... coming out to hunt on my own. I happened to.... scent you and came over."
She wished she had visual cues on her side to help gauge how to continue, but he didn't seem aggressive so it was going well, it seemed.

"Well, I just needed to take a walk. A lot's been happening lately and I just needed to get away from all of it. What about you? I never see anyone here because its so creepy. I was just passing by." @elysian

ThunderClan. Stormtalon sighed faintly, remembering; every odd detail about the she-cat clicked into place, made sense now. Her unfamiliarity with a well-known RiverClan legend. The preference of hunting here, where squirrels and other warm-bodied creatures scurried about, rather than a stream full of fish. Knowing Breezehen's origin didn't change the way Stormtalon looked at her: with guarded eyes and a neutral smirk on his lips. Cats were more or less the same, no matter their allegiances. The variable details were just background noise. It was a pessimistic view, to be sure, but pessimism never offended Storm; it was sure as stars closer to realism than optimism ever had been. Perhaps he just didn't care enough either way.

"When you think about it, isn't StarClan a ghost story, as well?" Stormtalon's voice carried through the thin air, cool as the scales of river-dwelling prey. He turned from Breezehen when she offered a reason for her presence. "Hunting some place like this must be more comfortable for a former thundercat."

"Bored? Likely story," he said, and Stormtalon didn't mean that sarcastically. The apprentice's attempt to distract and redirect was futile. "Bored enough to shirk the rules and wander into a haunted piece of RiverClan territory without a warrior escort, I see."

The tabby tom stared at Leopard with sharp eyes, assessing how he would react to being called out, but kept his own expression passive. In truth Storm had no intention of getting this apprentice in trouble. He had better things to do than tattle on kits, for one, and for two, hadn't every warrior done the same at Leopardpaw's age? Most got away with these minor infractions without incident. Storm didn't see a need to drag the younger tom down for no good reason.

Mouth twitching in a smirk, Storm shook his head. His focus drifted to each of his senses, offering them a chance to detect an other-worldly being, if it dare reveal itself to him. "The headless ghost must be afraid of me," Storm said after a moment, "because I've never seen or heard it. Have you?"

That's it.

Lionstorm didn't know why his paws brought him here.

Maybe it was because he was lonely, feeling the effects of his family disappearing on him like many others had. Not knowing what had happened to them, being left out of the loop and hung up to dry. Iceflower, Firehawk, Koistream - he might've not always gotten along with them, but he missed him dearly.

That lingering feeling of not having closure carried him through the thicket, to a twisted weeping willow tree with a flat rock near the base of the trunk. He only knew of this because of Firehawk - his father had taken him here one restless night to show him where he was.

It's split.
Quote:

"What do you think you're doing?" Lionstorm hissed. "Leaving a new apprentice out in the snow?"

"It was an important lesson on humanity." Leopardshine hardly glanced up from where he was smoothing the fur on his chest. "My boy needed to learn that just because he is tired, doesn't mean he gets to laze about. Think of all the unfortunate sick cats who don't get the luxury of rest."

"You abandoned him to die."

"I would have come for him in the morning."
It won't recover.
Quote:

"After he had already froze?" Lionstorm couldn't believe this nonsense. He had been skeptical when Leopardshine first told him he left him behind, but this-- this was something else. "You don't ditch an apprentice in a snow storm, Leopardshine."

"I did what I had to do in order to re-educate Fawnpaw." Leopardshine raised his head, set eyes on Lionstorm. "Besides, why do you care? You never liked that boy."

"I don't hate him enough to leave him to die." Lionstorm whirled around, already on his way out of the camp. "And I thought you were the same, but I guess I expected too much decency from you."
Just frame the halves.
Quote:

"Shut it, apprentice. You are speaking out of turn-- these savages only hunger for cat flesh, and you should be honored to donate yourself to them." Leopardshine shifted, positioning himself to block Fawnpaw's exit, but that was thwarted when a heavy paw knocked him out of the way.

Lionstorm's golden pelt shimmered in the sunlight as he stood over Leopardshine, teeth bared back in a snarl as he assessed the situation. "What are you doing?" he demanded harshly, watching as Leopardshine crawled away, hunched down as he glared at him. "Fawnpaw, are you okay? Come here." The rogues seemed disinterested in Fawnpaw at least, but he wasn't going to leave him alone.

Leopardshine bristled his fur, lips twisting into a snarl as he regarded Lionstorm. "I'm doing what's right! Savage rogues, attack these fools! He is robbing you of your dinner!" When they didn't budge, he turned to them with a hiss. "What is wrong with you?" he spat. "I didn't know savages were such lazy piles of fox-dung!" That seemed to be the last straw, as finally they did move-- to surround Leopardshine, and Lionstorm curled his tail around Fawnpaw protectively, urging him to follow.
And call them brothers.

"What have you done?" Lionstorm mumbled to the stone, lowering his head for a moment in silence. It'd been several seasons since this - since his brother had not only attempted to kill Fawnsqueak by abandoning him to the elements, but also by trying to sacrifice him to rogues.

And it still hurt, in a way. There was no reconciliation he could do, no amount of apologies, no amount of effort that could make up for the damage he'd done. Fawnsqueak.. had grown on Lionstorm, a lot, and his brother tried to take him away. "It didn't have to be like this."

He didn't watch him be torn apart, but he could remember the screech of anger and pain as he led Fawnpaw away from the grisly scene. He recalled the look of sorrow in his father's eyes as he briskly told him his son was dead.

At the time, Lionstorm had brushed it off - but time had softened the walls he put up, and the memory of grief clung to him. He knew Leopardshine hadn't always been like that - he recalled the warmth and courageousness his brother showed when they were apprentices. All discarded like crowfood. "Where did I go wrong?" Because it always came down to that, didn't it? Iceflower was tired of him, Fawnsqueak got tired of him, surely he did something?

But he knew no answer would come, and with a short hiss in his throat he whipped around and stalked through the forest. Going here had been a mistake.

He nodded. The siamese knew all too well that it was necessary, sometimes, to just sit alone. And then he was asked a question. With a start, he spoke up. "Uh, same here. It gets kinda... overwhelming sometimes..." But something else had piqued his interest. "Is it creepy? I mean, its just... shady, mostly. Tree-ey. Is there, like... a reason or something?"

Stream..?
@hope

The kit shuffled through the thin layer of snow. It was getting a little hard to walk, the cold powder balling up near the ends of his legs, and beneath his stomach. An angry expression plastered on his face, wiggling his nose as a snowflake fell on it. "Where was that place? Where was it again?" he hummed, frankly. He didn't even know if he was going the right direction.

He stopped and looked around, "I have no idea where I am." he huffed a loud. However, the crunching of snow made him whip his head around and search. He couldn't quite see where or who it was coming from.
