Re: ShadowClan Training Cliffs

Brokenlight's soul felt ill as he caught the tail-end of the second announcement, so sickened that he felt like retching with disgust. In his eyes, the immense honor of Shadowclan had been severely tainted and every last cat was damned to suffer for it. A forced merge of the clans, likening true warriors to squealing prey, practically spitting in the eyes of the ancients themselves, it had shaken the warrior badly. Luckily, his revolted state gifted him a useful boon, spurring him into a fleet-footed sprint, wishing to get as far away from what his clan was turning into, a blight against Shadowstar's memory. His paws made light prints in the marsh's damp soil, slowly getting deeper as he slowed and waited for Badgerpaw. To the wiry tom's relief, he had remembered he actually had an apprentice holding him back, thank the stars, if not he nearly would've taken a few laps around the territory without a single thought. The cliffs weren't that far at all now from where he sat, just a speedy dash was all it took and they'd be right where they needed to be. As he waited for his apprentice to show up, Brokenlight sat on a dry patch of dead leaves, wanting to see if he could make it there even if he got himself lost.

Badgerpaw padded right, keeping his mentors scent on his nose. He had never been out, but he knew to follow scents. It really didn't take him long with his large strong build. The apprentice walked over to the Training Cliffs with a flicker of his tail. He was excited, but his face didn't seem to show it. He always kept his face like stone. He hated appearing weak.

"See that you just got settled down. You shouldn't ever have to wait on me. I can catch up no matter what.", he responded. Badgerpaw was sure he was going to do fine. He was going to be a strong warrior. He was going to be sure to make Dawnstar proud and make her think it was a good idea to bring him into the clan.

".......Hm. We'll see how much truth your words hold in the future." Brokenlight huffed, blinking slowly and rising back up to his paws at an even slower pace, his pupils growing slimmer in an instant as he stood there in thought. He blinked again and looked at Badgerpaw again, turning his entire body to face them down. ...Alright apprentice, tell me first of the four spots any opponent will likely aim for immediately in battle. The slick warrior started circling Badgerpaw while he spoke, staring unblinkingly now at him, with eyes blown wide.

Badgerpaw was sure he'd be early. He didn't want to disappoint his leader. No she expected a lot from him and he would show her what he could do. The apprentice listened to his mentor. He was already ready to answer. He wasn't going to waste time and just answer.

"The ribs, belly, chest, and eyes. The ribs so they loose their concentration. Belly because it's soft. Chest, because it winds them and the eyes, so they can't see you attack them.", he responded as quickly as he could. He kept his voice emotionless and there was nothing shown in his eyes but slits.

"Very good Badgerpaw, I'm glad to see that you're not a completely useless waste of my time." Brokenlight uttered, coming to stand in front of his apprentice again, rolling his shoulders. Now, we'll be starting off with a lesson in defense, as I'm positive Dawnstar would hate for you to fail her in the midst of-" As he reached the very first syllable of the last word, battle, he struck out at Badgerpaw with his claws fully unsheathed. Real-world conflicts have real-world consequences after all, and he needed to see how fine-tuned his reflexes were.

Badgerpaw listened and was a little prepared for what his mentor would do next. The apprentice jumped back real quick, eyes turned to slits. He circled around his mentor, feeling his laughter coming on. He shook his head. No now wasn't the time to laugh like a insane cat. "I wouldn't want to fail Dawnstar no matter what. The whole point is to show her what I can do.", he meowed, a deep growl rose in his throat.

[Goodness me! I forgot I didn't get mentioned by y'all and forgot to check this thread heh, my apologies!]

Owlspots might have watched the four cats spar a bit to long. Most of them where dripping blood from multiple places. Failpaw looked to need a medicine cat's attention and that was a notion that this was over. "Enough!" Owlspots announced loudly. The snow bangle stood and moved closer to look between the four. She had assist their skills and was good with calling it a day. Well, not until they got a proper lecture on their mistakes. Her icy eyes scanned over the younger cats, lingering on their bloodied fur for a moment. For a bunch of brats this was somewhat impressive.
"Impressive, you all lived." She started, a slightly interested expression flickering over her face. It was more interesting than her previous board expression. "However, Failpaw once this is over you will need to see Ebonyfang about that scratch. Skrikepaw, Moonpaw, Frogpaw I will leave your injuries to your own regards." She informed them slightly annoyed that she knew she wasn't allowed to just let the apprentices deal with their own injuries. As long as they lived under her watch and she wasn't held responsible Owlspots honestly didn't care for their well being. If they died once she was no longer in charge of them, that was their own fault. "Moving on. Moonpaw, your attacks were mostly defensive remember to attack your opponent, with your agility you could attack first on most cats and have time to avoid their next attack. Shrikepaw, you actually had a good mix of offensive and defensive attacks, remember to pay more attention to your opponent. You got caught off guard, that could get you killed, which would be an annoyance to deal with. Frogpaw, work on your balance losing that could caught your life, you did better on thinking keep that in mind, also don't intentionally kill your Clanmates, that's an inconvenience I do not wish to deal with. Failpaw, pay more attention you can not run from all the attacks, it is noted that you started more offensive attacks before your injury." She informed the four. Frogpaw and Failpaw were interesting with their brief stand off, however she found Shrikepaw's and Moonpaw's fight more interesting by their choice of moves.

Owlspots watched Pumpkinpaw, gauging his stance each time he tried to use the frontal attack. Not bad, could be better but he was basically a kit from what she gathered. Or in her eyes he was. "Yes," She agreed with the tom. "In a few sessions that will be perfected for now, it is most likely as good as you can get it." Owlspots informed the tom. He would have it down in no time once he got used to doing it. That was if the tom had any chance of being a warrior.
Her icy eyes trailed over to Darkpaw, irritated by the silence she had been given from the apprentice. "What does yours look like? Care to share?" Owlspots asked. If she got no answer she'd assume the molly was un interested in learning any further.

Standing and shaking himself off Shrikepaw stared unnervingly at Owlspots as he took in the new information. As much as he loved battle post battle analysis of how he did and where his improvements could be were an intelligent spin on a brutal sport the tom rather loved. So with a nod at the warrior (but not at his ex combatant Shrikepaw had decided he didnt care for Moonpaw) he padded off to do just that.

( @Fuzzy )

Oh stars, that looked.. hard! Nervousness flooded within her, a fear of making a mistake. Then the warrior turned to her and she froze. Her wide eyes stuck staring up at the warrior. She realized the warrior had asked her something and she listened. Oh gosh, now she.. had to do that! She attempted to recreate but her crouch was off, her lunge fell short, and she didn't lift her leg to attack. She had done a horrible job and she knew it. Fear grew as she finished the move. Slowly and hesitantly, she looked at the warrior. "I.. didn't do very well, did I..?" Darkpaw mentally prepared herself for scolding from the warrior. She would just.. nod and take it all in. No crying.. no yelling back.. nothing. Just nod.

@Fierceclaw @QueenCuphead
Shrewstep scaled the tricky surface of the cliff and settled onto his haunches to allow the apprentices time to reach him. Once they had reached the top of the cliff, he stood up and moved back and forth across the cliff face. Have you two ever sparred before? he asked, hoping they hadn’t. It didn’t matter though. He needed an idea of their styles before he gave pointers. If they fought like him he could be helpful. If they fought like Dawnstar he would be quite a bit less, although still somewhat, helpful. After their answer, he mewed Go ahead and spar. I’ll give pointers as you go.
