Re: Sleepy Thicket

After having cleared the rest of the area, Kestrelstar circled back around towards the end. It wasn't all that well built, and shouldn't take that long to cover it up. "We'll just move dirt to block the entrance; hopefully it'll get the message and leave," the leader huffed, using his curved paws to shove a combination of dirt and mud into the hole.

A chuckle-snort came from him at Stormpelt's statement. "Hopefully it was just passing through," he added, continuing to shove dirt into the fox den. Having learned from grave digging, Kestrelstar kept his claws carefully in their sheaths. Moving almost rhythmically to cover up and fill the den. Yellow eyes focused on the work, the leader gave a sigh. "I'll have to report to Splashleap for the patrols to keep an eye out for the foxes," he added, giving a shake of his head as he continued to work.

His notched ear flickered in acknowledgement before padding after Stormtalon. A brief realization that he hadn't asked Snakeheart for a ,, more useful description of catmint. Regret but he supposed it wasn't an awful mistake. Stormtalon could either find it or the other two pairs could. (Speaking of, why didn't Snakeheart just pair Stormtalon and Mistypaw?)

The oriental was all too aware the moment they entered the Sleepy Thicket. As if the air had gotten thicker. It sent a shiver down Wormbite's spine. He just wanted to get this over with at this point. His misty gaze shifted over to where he believed Stormtalon was. "I'll go left you'll go right?" He questioned, whether or not the warrior actually had any protest to it - off the lanky tom went.

Wormbite began to poke around, sticking his nose in any possible herb. Not the most effective but it worked. Ugh, this was quite unfortunate. He did at least find a decent collection of cobwebs. He gathered them up.

[wrapping up]

As the den was collapsed in, Kestrelstar took a step back to make sure there was really nothing left of it - no holes or openings. Surely if the fox did come back it would move on and make a den elsewhere. If it didn't - well, Kestrelstar would simply have to get his claws out.

"That's good for now," he decided, giving a nod to his companion before turning and heading back to camp.

Despite an intense desire to be braindead, Storm's thoughts prattled on about this and that as the pair trekked through RiverClan territory. One of these winding mental trails led him to consider Mistpaw. His former apprentice seemed...well. Fine. Stormtalon wouldn't resume her training and didn't ask why the decision was made, left the matter up to Splashleap and washed his paws of it; in the end Storm was just grateful for the apprentice's return. One less name with intangible weight to carry around.

He had two poppy stems halfway dug up by the time Wormbite's voice carried over. After assessing the milky-eyed tom, Stormtalon mewed a soft agreement. (+2 poppy flowers) He went to the right.

Catmint wasn't difficult to spot. Storm remembered the smell from his recent stint in Snakeheart's den, even, collected what he found without hesitation: one, two, three. (+3 catmint) By the end of it his paws were grimy with dirt and little rocks stuck between his talons, but at least he managed to gather a full load.

@Ziera // sweats in i didn't realize misty wasn't his app anymore
It was soon after Wormbite's finding of cobwebs that he encountered poppy flowers. It was a more pleasant encounter than the marigold, still distasteful. A quiet reminder of how distasteful they were, helpful or not. Carefully he picked them from their stem, rather convinced they were in fact poppy flowers. (They better be ...)

After the oriental finished he began to track down Stormtalon. It took a few moments after getting distracted by a bird. A very interesting bird in fact. He came up behind the tom, letting out a muffled mew to grab his attention. Wormbite tilted his head to the side, curious to see if his partner had finished.

Though he had been planning to go straight to camp, Kestrelstar's pawsteps slowed. Right now, the last thing the Clan needed to see was another dead body - and one that was covered in dirt already. As much as he wanted to give Stormpelt and Whitekit a moment to grieve, a sight this grizzly was not fit for a kit.

Veering off from the path, the gray tabby made quick work of selecting a place in the Thicket - around a springy patch of wildflowers - before he slid the body off his back and began to dig. Paws already numb from trying to find Graypelt, they barely felt the cold soil as he prepared the shallow grave.

Once that was completed, Kestrelstar slid the body in, feeling numbness settling in. Another death. Another death. Stars, he was tired of this. As if he'd hit the end of the emotional wall. With the dirt covered over, it needed... flowers of some sort. Plucking some of the wildflowers nearby the tom laid them gently atop the newly dug grave.

Now wasn't the time to cry. The sun was starting to rise and he had to get back before Stormtalon tracked him down on the assumption he had left again. So with a newfound urgency, Kestrelstar hurried back to camp.

Re: Sleepy Thicket

The sleepy thicket was a location that always tended to have herbs even if it was for a rather bitter reason. This little cluster of trees was riverclans graveyard a site really only Snakeheart frequented often to lay the dead to rest and collect herbs like he was now. Why did the herbs grow so well here? Because the bodies of their fallen clanmates fueled the plant life here to flourish where those cats did not and bloom strong and thick. The medicine cat didnt know if this knowledge was something only he as a cat who examined plants more closely then most knew or if it was more common knowledge but still for his herb patrol with Wormbite and Looncry he lead them straight to the thicket for their chamomile and his burnet.

"Right we're here. Stay within hearing range of eachother and in the thicket just in case and if you need another description of chamomile just ask me, if its really needed I can try and find an example for you to use as well. If you want to pay your respects to any of the cats buried here I can lead you to their grave, you know, just in case you wanna while we're here."

Wormbite walked beside Looncry and Snakeheart. Somehow he always got sent into the Sleepy Thicket. It still managed to send a shiver down his spine - the thought of his clanmates that rested here. Chamomile was much more pleasant than marigold so he had little hesitance when it came to looking.

He glanced towards Snakeheart as they came to a halt. Wormbite gave a nod, it all sounded good - his ears perked up at the medicine cat's offer. He had never paid proper respects to his fallen clanmates. He wasn't able to do it when given the chance, still fixated on his rage and his loss. It clouded his mind and then after? .. he couldn't bring himself to ask. Wormbite chewed on the inside of his cheek before deciding. "After? If that is alright?" He asked quietly, referring to paying his respects to his clanmates.

Death. There had been so much death lately. From ThunderClan - though that issue had been resolved for now - from ShadowClan, and now from outsiders. Kestrelstar let out a growl, lips curled back to reveal sharp fangs. He wanted to dig his claws into whoever had murdered Eveningwhisper and left her body like this. Fury flowed through him as he slid the warrior off his back and started digging yet another grave. So many cats lay here, his mother some further paces inside the thicket. So many warriors who's potential was cut short. The rage and grief it left burn the RiverClan leader's heart.

After awhile, he'd managed to create a sizable enough hole that would fit the warrior. Using his white paws - now slightly stained crimson - he moved the body into the hole before starting cover it back up. He hadn't taken note of when it had happened, but a tear rolled off his jaw and onto the dirt below. His heart ached as he finally covered the last bit of Eveningwhisper, bowing his head again. This had to end.

Placing a few wildflowers on top of the newly dug grave, Kestrelstar stayed a moment or two longer before turning and trudging back to camp.
