Re: Quarantine Zone
Although his sinuses were clogged quite badly from the cough, the stench of sickness still managed to reach him, and he felt the bile rise in his throat. He couldn't believe he had to stay here, he didn't think he would ever grow accustomed to the smell. And at first, Lionstorm was met with resistance when it seemed he was encouraging him to slide off, which he eventually did after some internal urging and reminder that it wasn't as if he could merely cling to Lionstorm's back forever. He was bound to notice.
Fawnpaw flopped into the nest with a squeak, then a grunt as the soft impact hit. The nest wasn't as comfortable as he'd hoped, but it was better than nothing when he felt ready to sleep for a moon. "Still really tired," he responded with a yawn, his body curling in on itself to preserve warmth. "Would you?" he asked, almost astonished, as glittering eyes settled on Lionstorm. They were surprisingly bright and more alert than he'd been throughout most of this exchange. It seemed kinder than what he'd expect Lionstorm to offer, and a drowsy smile flickered on his muzzle before dropping. "Thanks, uh, I'd like that. Wait," he added, slightly more tense, "you're not going to be gone that long, are you? Maybe... maybe I should come with." Logic was blotted out in a sick mind, he forgot that wasn't going to be an option and despite his usual independence, he didn't want to be left in a strange place with strange cats. @BILL. |
Re: Quarantine Zone
Lionstorm let out a chuckle as Fawnpaw squeakily flopped off his back and onto the nest. Straightening himself up, he leaned down to boop his nose against Fawnpaw's. "Of course." Getting him some water was the least he could do. "I won't be gone that long," he reassured him, taking a step back.
It was... heartbreaking, watching Fawnpaw tense up, ready to stand and join him to a nearby puddle. "I won't be long," he repeated himself. "Save your strength, okay? I'll be within eyesight, and you should stay here. Rest." He didn't know how else to get through to the young apprentice. When it seemed Fawnpaw wasn't going to accompany him, Lionstorm was slipping away. He collected a lump of moss from an empty nearby nest (they didn't need it!) and brought it to a puddle of water, dropping it in to let it soak before he carried it back to Fawnpaw. "Hey, I got you something." He set the sodden ball down beside him, pushing it closer so Fawnpaw didn't have to stretch to lap at the dripping fibers. @Dipper |
Re: Quarantine Zone
The boop would have been actively appreciated if he was more than minimally-conscious enough to take comfort in the motion. All he could process were the most pressing of sights and sounds and feelings, otherwise he was trapped in a feverish misery that kept telling him to close his eyes, drift off.
However, alarm pulsed through him as Lionstorm seemed to be leaving. Why? Oh, right. Water. Thoughts foggy, he'd already almost forgotten but tried to muster the strength to follow him. A protest was on his tongue but held back since he needed all of his energy to haul himself to his paws and then stumble after Lionstorm on clumsy, heavy paws, yet feeling so lightweight. It didn't last, needless to say. He fell forward again into a pitiful heap and let out a pained puff of air. It was hard to determine how much time had passed between the departure and the arrival, but he perked up slightly at the sight of the moss, tentatively licking from it. "Thanks," he murmured gratefully, raising his eyes to Lionstorm's. "I don't know why you're being so nice to me, but you-- uh, ought to stop that. It's weird. Totally unlike you and ruins the whole... y'know, tough guy with a temper act." But that was finished with a little purr, nuzzling his leg since that was what he could manage to reach in a limited range of motion. @BILL. |
Re: The Infirmary
the ragdoll hadn’t wanted to leave camp, Moonpaw knew that she was fine but the others insisted that she went to seastones to get help. The molly brought her head up for a moment before it slowly collapsing again her blue eyes glazed over, she couldn’t lose her life to this, as a chill rattled her bones as she began to shake. At this rate, she couldn’t tell if it was her anxiety or the sickness that had taken over her clan making her feel as if she was going to fall down at any given moment. thoughts flooded her mind she felt the way she did with Glazepaw, yet, without the.. the.. happiness, the excitement. To put it simply she felt a wave of pure terror as her small kit like body slammed onto the hard ground. Another cough hit her she felt herself shake on the ground, flopping like a fish. “Goosep-“ she quietly uttered in her soft voice before a coughing fit set back in as she lied there in the floor of the infirmary, her blue eyes darting back and fourth trying to see anything she could, hoping and praying to StarClan it would be something that she could handle. Her jaw opened as she prepared to say more yet as she breathed the first word she began to cough once again, it wasn’t that bad! The voices screamed in her head lots of other strong warriors can’t stand up! As she tried to bring up her head she felt... helpless as she tried to stand up the feeling deepened as her legs crumbled beneath her sending another cloud of dust up around her. She could feel her eyes closing yet she wanted to stay awake, she had to stay awake. She looked around once more for the new medicine cat her eyes widening in... fear. Though she felt like nobody would care if she died, there were others that she would miss. She wanted to make the medicine cat’s job easier yet she couldn’t move as she looked around she saw the newly named leader, Windystar laying just as helpless as she was. A look of distress played her features as her eyes shot back to the herbs that laidened the back of the makeshift camp her eyes became strained. I’m fine, I’m perfectly fine. She wanted to introduce herself but the coughing had different plans. “I don’t know if we’ve met.” she coughed again her body shaking as she lied on the floor “I’m Moonpaw.” another set of coughing set in making her words indistinguishable from her soft voice to the bone chilling noises made by the horrible sickness. @Peachy <3 |
Re: Quarantine Zone
~ @Charmer ~ A queen with a tail that was curled laid in her makeshift nest. Her heart was beating fast and she let out a spasm of coughs. Curltail was trying her best to stay awake. She felt her unborn kits heartbeats. 'Don't worry little ones I won't let anything happen to you', she thought to herself. |

Tallmarsh pulled a couple leaves from the pile of catmint that she had been holding in her mouth. She pushed two small, green leaves towards the kit. "Chew this, but do not swallow it, okay?" she said, her tone serious. She brushed the remaining catmint back into a neat little pile. This wasn't her entire store--she didn't want to run out, since it wouldn't be until greenleaf that she would be able to get more. |

Glazepaw smiled again. "I'm glad you're in a better place now," he purred. He mindlessly brushed a few more pine needles from her pelt. "I think it's very brave that you moved. It must've taken a lot of courage." It was almost as bright as day with the moon and stars shining overhead, but the white apprentice could feel a cloud of sleep surrounding him, pulling his eyelids shut. He blinked a couple times and shook his head slightly, trying to stay up. He wanted to stay here with Moonpaw--the night wasn't nearly half over yet, and they hadn't been able to talk that much--but he knew that he to be up early tomorrow for training with Owlflame. He turned his mismatched gaze to the night sky, trying to distract himself from his sleepiness. It's so peaceful here. |

either the infirmary had shrunken, or the whole world was sick. goosepaw has been up for hell knows how long, treating as many cats as she could. it would be rude to complain, though she felt she had a right to. she’d only been a medicine cat for a few days and everyone gets sick. maybe this is her punishment for complaining so much when she was the sick one. shoot, it might be easier if daydream wasn't so busy...she missed day. she wanted to ask questions on what herbs were better than others for such a situation, but goosepaw only had a pile of herbs that she knew were at least treatable for white/greencough. she just had to make the best of it. great. goosepaw had gotten used to hearing her name called a million times a day. it was exhausting, not gonna lie, but again - no time to complain. when a ragdoll stumbled into the den, goosepaw immediately came to their aid with some catmint. sounding by the cough and dizzy demeanor, she assumed they had whitecough...poor darling looks agitated, too. probably making it worse for her. “nice to meet ya, moon. i haven't seen you around before, but then again i don't get out much.” she placed the spikey-leafed between them and eased up a smile. maybe she should calm her down first? “how have you been feeling lately? feverish?” |

goosepaw had been scheduled another appointment with a fellow shadowclanner - raventuft, a tom with greencough. it was another patient in the quarantine zone, so it meant she had to swerve her way around the sea of sick bodies. again. the small diluted apprentice found it hard to spot him, she'd been searching for quite some time now. the herbs she brought were starting to numb her mouth. gross. luckily she noticed a familiar black tail poking out from beneath a nearby bush. “raventuft?” she called out, peeking into the shadows. she flashed a friendly smile and dipped her head. “it’s goosepaw, sorry to disturb you.” she crouched herself down in front of him and placed the herbs between them. “how are you feeling?” |

goosepaw was nodding along to windystar’s mumbling, taking note of his tired speech. he wasn't doing well..coughing nearly every time he breathed. how come he had to get sick? he’s the leader, and arent leaders supposed to be protected by ‘starclan’? this was another reason she did not worship the heavenly ansestors - why would they let a leader fall sick? especialy as sick as him. it made no sense to her. she became lost in thought almost, but eventually snapped back into listening to windy. wait...why couldn't she hear him anymore? where are the coughs? by the time goosepaw had found the dark spikey plant, windy had already grown weaker. she turned to find him plopped down on the ground, lying quiet. “shoot-” she quickly scooped up the herb and rushed to her leader’s side. “here, i need you to eat some of this.” she nosed the herbs up to windystar’s mouth to make it easier for him. her smiley expression quickly changed to concern, but she kept a desperate attempt to remain calm. be calm, like daydream...yeah. calm doctor, calm patient. her voice turned soft, much different from her naturally upbeat tone. “this is catmint, smells nice, right? it’ll help you feel better.” or at least she hoped it would. she knew it had only been a couple days, so progress probably wouldn't show yet, but deep down she wished at least someone would get better. |
