Duskhope just nodded, and went to swipe snow off a nearby grave.
"You must hold much respect for the dead." They meowed after a while, "To come up here in the winter and tend to their resting spots."
Finishing one grave, they moved to the next, brushing away the top snow with their tail, "I can see why you like it." They admitted after a while, "They don't want conversation, just company. Another soul there with them." @Jayvines

Not long after she had fallen back into a sitting position, a lot happened at once. Most notably, the two tomcats snarled words at the kittypet weren't noticed at all by Cloudyflight as a problem seemed to introduce itself. A kit. How the hell did Leopardkit sneak out of camp unnoticed? Cloudy looked down at the kitten, as she squeaked about, wondering if Cloudy knew that her leg was missing and if she needed help finding it.

Seeing the kit, interacting with the kit, was just reminding her of the family that she and Brightpath could have had. She pushed it away deep into the corner of her mind, not wanting to add another reason why she wanted to join her love in the stars. "It's okay, it wasn't a very good leg." Truthfully, it wasn't. It was a twisted, broken limp useless thing. "I bet you're a very good finder, but I don't really miss my leg. Thank you for offering, though." Her dry, raspy voice was probably anything but comforting or convincing but she couldn't do anything about it.

As the kittypet decided to get hostile and growled at her, claiming to only be trying to look friendly, Cloudyflight shifted her weight ever so slightly to hide Leopardkit from view, lip curling over to bear her teeth at the kittypet. "I would watch your mouth before you lose your ears." She snarled, gaunt face full of threat. But as another cat arrived on scene, she breathed in Mistylights scent. Not someone familiar and comforting, none of them were, but at least someone who gave her a small hint of a motherly comfort. She vaguely remembered Larkfrost stroking her back with her tail as a kit, and her heart leaped and broke at the same time. She thought again of Cindersky, who she hadn't opened up to but still had felt accepted. Comforted. Faintly like Mistylight now did.

But then Redstalk ordered Hailhawk to take her and Leopardkit back to camp and Cloudyflight to Sundust, and she inhaled sharply, neck fur bristling. She was NOT going to be carried. She couldn't. She was supposed to be strong and strong cats didn't get carried to camp. And the last time she had been in the care of medicine cats, she had lost a leg. By choice, but it still wasn't something she wanted to relive. The molly looked up at Hailhawk, as he said that essentially the fastest way to get back to camp was if he carried her on his back. Normally, she would refuse, obviously, but she realized that she wasn't really in any state to walk back to camp. The skeletal cat nodded, lowering her head. She stiffened slightly as he licked her ear- remembering Brightpath doing that on occasion, but said nothing.

@Sp00k3z @daenerys @Spotty

Hailhawk nodded at Redstalk, gave a look at the kittypet, and started back to camp, not really bothered by the light weight of the lithe shecat on his back. He wasn't sure if she was open to talking about anything, so he didn't start conversation, he just hummed lightly in a calming matter as he padded back to camp.

My goodness, this cat was just *FULL* of interesting phrases and words. Wide grey eyes turned to look solemnly at Duskhope before giving them a shallow nod of agreement.

"They are certainly easier to be around than certain cats... Not that I dislike any of our clanmates! It's just--you know, sometimes talking is hard a-and *things* are just... much easier to deal with," she fumbled out, tailtip twitching behind her as she attempted to articulate her thoughts with any sort of clarity. "And besides... These cats don't have too many people looking out for them anymore... I figured at least one cat needs to give them a nice place to sleep."

Was this making any sense? She sure hoped it was.

"I know they've gotta have nice nests in Starclan but... they deserve a nice nest here as well..."

Duskhope blinked slowly.
"No, I-I get that." They went back to shoveling snow, ears twitching as the sounds of the forest surrounded them. Leaves crackled in the icy air, and a lone bird cried from the treetops. A stiff breeze blew across the clearing and Duskhope shivered, fluffing out what little fur they had to try and keep warm. @Jayvines

Well this was turning out to be an absolutely lovely day.

Finishing up the final gravesite with a satisfied pat to the frozen ground, the small grey molly turned her attention to her surprise companion for her self-appointed tasks.

"Well uh... Thank you for helping me Duskhope," she hummed, fluffing up her short fur with quick shake as a frozen breeze puffed into the clearing. "I um, hope the rest of your day is slightly warmer."

Giving them a slightly crooked half-smile, Mistheart quickly turned with a brief nod before scampering off into the forest.

Duskhope watched her bound away into the forest, their head tilted slightly. The she-cat was interesting and very thoughtful, much more than the rest of the Clan. She seemed a little nervous, but Duskhope knew more than anyone how that felt. Shaking ice from their ears, they wandered back to camp, feeling refreshed. @Jayvines

cause of death: malnutrition, dehydration, other unknown

Three unsteady paws let Cloudyflight to the place where her beloved was buried. This graveyard held so many awful memories for her, when that rogue attacked her hear, when Cindersky died, then the whole Brightpath thing. Her heart still burned with cold hatred for Thrushfur, who so callously buried her mate before letting Cloudy say goodbye, before seeing if Cloudy wanted to help. It took an ambitious, selfish, repulsive cat to do something like that, only caring about their own personal political gain. Cloudy regretted nothing she said or did, because Thrushfur deserved it.

And now he was deputy. ThunderClan held nothing for her except Mistheart, and they weren't even close anymore. She lost everything.

Cloudyflight had felt different this morning. She knew that it was coming. And unlike many, she wasn't afraid. Actually... she was happy. The skeleton of a cat had a strange, joyful look on her face as she hobbled out of camp, and the blue eyed molly nuzzled the grave, collapsing beside her beloved mate's burial place. She would have stayed. She usually didn't have the strength to move much these days, but something had given her the strength to be able to move here.

black edged her vision.

her paws shook, and she didn't fight it.

She had a flash of memories, her parents being exiled, her siblings vanishing, being kidnapped and abused and tortured, killing Starla and those unnamed, unfortunate souls. Falling in love. Her beautiful mate's final moments.

Wow. What a depressing rerun.

Resting her head on the ground, the three-legged skeletal warrior let out a soft sigh. Oh, Brightpath. I'm not even scared. I'm not scared at all. I just can't wait to stop being cold. I can't wait to stop always being sick. I can't wait to get away from the whole Clan of cats who don't give a crap about me. Away from my Clanmates who watched you die, who watched me wither into nothing and did nothing to stop.

I can't wait to see you, my love. At last.

As her mind switched to Mistheart, her only family left. "I'm sorry, sister." She breathed. And she was. But Mistheart had been fine without her. They hadn't talked. She had watched her slowly fall apart and deteriorate, so what would change? Nothing. Nothing at all. Everyone would just move on. The world wouldn't even stop for a millisecond for anyone, because no one cared.

The only cat that cared was going to be in her starry embrace in a moment. Cloudyflight wasn't scared of death. She was more scared of life. So, with a small, relieved smile, the formerly firecracker of a warrior let go of this horrible life, diving into the warm, happy black. because soon, she would be with her love again. And Cindersky. She would see her beloved mother-figure again.

Closing her eyes, the relieved smile still on her face, the snowy white, frail molly let out a soft, serene breath.

And all the pain went away in an instant.

Re: Willow's Rise

. Violetslash .
( @jupiter )

It was a quiet day, and although it was overcast Violetslash decided she’d pay her sisters’ burial site a visit. Although the molly didn’t like either of them or her mother when they were alive it still felt odd they were gone.. she huffed, anyways, it had been almost a season or two since she had dared step foot in Willow’s Rise, and a small amount of guilt had settled into her mind.

As Violetslash approached the last resting place of her clan mates she spotted a (presumably) white pelt, laying next to, and nearly on top of one of the the many mounds. She hesitated, Violetslash had always found it a bit awkward if one of her clan mates were already in the resting site mourning for their late kin and friends, but there was something.. odd going on with this cat. Usually you’d be able to see the rise and fall of their chest and often be able to hear their sniffles or soft cries, stars, some even talk to themselves, but this white cat.. the only movement that the senior warrior could see was their fur shifting slightly in the gentle breeze. It was unnerving to say the least. The pale blue/grey molly slowly made her way up to the white cat, her tail lowered but not quite brushing on the permafrost, and as soon as she got within a tail length of them she could tell they had passed away, and not long ago too. Violetslash blinked, a little bit of confusion rippled under her pelt, before taking a shuttered breath. She had now identified the cat to be Cloudyflight, and it seemed as though they had been depriving themselves of either water or food, most likely out of depression from that cat leaving them for starclan. she thought, her gaze drifting to the grave the limp body was laying by.

Violetslash considered just burying the molly now, seeing as it would save her the trip back to camp, however it would be disrespectful to Cloudyflight to do so. The older molly sighed slightly, a kit running away from camp and now she had to take a body back to Thunderclan camp, what next? A badger attacks an apprentice? She slowly shifted the warriors limp body over her shoulders, trying her best to stop Cloudyflights tail from touching the icy forest floor, before making her way back to camp. She would have to come to Willows Rise once more later, maybe tomorrow, after Cloudyflight is buried.

Sparrowpelt raised a brow at the warrior. "That's. . . interesting," the tom spoke, but shrugged it off a moment later. "Wherever you think works. I guess I haven't ever tried to hunt there, it'd be nice to know what's creeping around there," the tom spoke.

Their trek was quiet until the willow tree -- leafless now with leaf-bare in full throttle -- came into view. "I- I haven't been here in so long," he began, staring up towards the top of the tree then back down towards the base where he could see the marks scored into the trunk from where they stood. "It's bittersweet, it almost feels wrong taking prey from here..." he spoke, another shrug rolled off his shoulders, "but it must be done for the clan! StarClan will understand that! Now, which way do you want to go?"

Alderstep stood with a placid expression on his face. He wasn't the type to mourn at a tree, much less feel something when he was someplace like this. "It's not like the dead are watching us, disgusted that we're feeding our clan," he replied simply before turning to survey the area for signs of recent prey. Squirrel, for the most part. Plus, a bird feather. Looked like a grouse's. Made sense, those tended to show up around willow trees. Or maybe that was just luck.

The tom flicked his tail in the direction of where the sun rose. "There," he murmured, lowering his voice as he anticipated the hunt for food. If only the prey were just...fatter this time of year.
