“Nothing, just couldn't wait to see you become a warrior,” he lied, cheerfully. He added, “I know the hunting seemed complicated at first, but I know that you will get a hang of it soon.” |
Re: ShadowClan Clearing
Shadowfur emerged from the warriors’ den and sat down in the ShadowClan clearing. He was grateful they were back in their normal camp. Even more, he was eternally grateful to Dawnstar for giving him a pass this one time for the mishap with Hailpaw. She was right; he’d live with the weight of losing his first apprentice for the rest of his life. That was punishment enough. What happened with Hailpaw was a terrible accident; Shadowfur was punished by that alone enough. He just hoped his Clanmates would eventually come around and see this as a horrible tragedy rather an an act of treason. {open} |

darkkit - [1] - openToday was rainy. But Darkkit still sat in her usual corner. These were just two very scientific observations that one could make just from merely looking outside, then identifying the insignificant creature that sat up against the wall of their camp. The mere shadow of a kitten that floated around like a phantom, and they would quickly look away. The triangular faced girl made many cats uncomfortable, but, did she, the epitome of not caring, give two craps whether or not her presence made someone uncomfy? Of COURSE not! Angular almond eyes of a baby blue shade watched the dutiful, sodden patrols leave, and only then did the thin, regal looking Bengal rise from her seat, and scrutinized the clearing, one den at a time. rainwater dripped from her long white whiskers before she turned gracefully on her heels and padded back to the nursery. |

~Spiritfire | @Cherry~
The fluffy white she-cat had been off to the side of the clearing, giving herself a thorough cleaning, when dark fur emerging from the warrior's den caught her eye. Shadowfur. She was infinitely curious as to what had actually happened to the warrior and his apprentice. Perhaps she should go talk to him. It was her job, after all, to listen to her clanmates. Rising to her paws and giving her plumy tail a quick flick, Spiritfire made her way over to the tom. "Hello, Shadowfur. Mind if I join you?" She questioned, giving her fiery eyes a friendly (or as friendly as she could muster) blink. |

Moonkit (she/her) Black calico with half face ginger and amber eyes •─────⋅☾ ☽⋅─────• Moonkit woke up at dawn, the time when the first patrol was sent out by the deputy. As soon as she got up and split up from her family's sleeping mass, she felt a damp chilly breeze seeping through the nursery and reaching her little bones. But she liked rain; it was like Starclan was sending them precious water not only to survive the long dry season, but also to clean the forest. She headed toward the slice of grey sky surrounded by the thorn bush of the nursery, but she stopped just a few fox tail lengths back. A grey-black, spotted kit was crouched in a corner and Moonkit thought that she was trying to become a shadow herself, since she blended herself completely in the shade of that spot. Well, even if she doesn't try, she really looks like the spiky shadow of the thorny branches. While she was staring at her, the kit suddenly turned and fixed her cold gaze on Moonkit. She didn't look friendly as other kits in the nursery, and she felt her black-orange pelt prickle in unease. |

Shadowfur swallowed hard. “I should’ve known better than to take such a young apprentice to a place like that,” he growled. “Hailpaw was too undisciplined for his own good. It ended up costing him his life.” He bowed his head solemnly. “As his mentor, I should have seen that. But his death is punishment enough for that mistake. And the scorn of most of my Clanmates.” He turned his gaze to his Clanmate. “But it won’t do me any good to wallow in self-pity. I appreciate your understanding. A lot of our Clanmates will take time to see this as just an accident.” Quote:
As he finished speaking to the apprentice, Shadowfur noticed Spiritfire approaching him. He hoped she wasn’t coming to make a snide comment, or to box his ears like that one idiot had tried to do at the Clan meeting. Shadowfur was grateful Dawnstar had been there to break it up; he didn’t feel like fighting any of his Clanmates at this point. Relief washed over him when her arrival was peaceful. He nodded at her question. “Of course you may join us. It’s relieving to have some Clanmates who are still willing to give me the time of day.” |
