Minnow nodded earnestly.

"And Bramble & Thunderstorm, go over there by those reeds and the stream. Don't go in and don't leave my sight." Blue mewed, more sternly to her misbehaving boys.
//
Bramble and Thunderstorm gave eachother a mischivious glance before nodding.

"I guess you could say that it was on purpose. I just want somewhere to live" Honeydrop shrugged, feeling more comfortable around the tom.

"Didn't notice anything?" Granite scoffed. "Maybe you were overwhelmed by the scent of fish; that's everyone's excuse these days." He'd been planning on sounding at least somewhat friendly around these cats, but they were too unbearably lizardbrained. Nah, he'd just antagonize them instead. Besides, it would be much more fun that way.

"I didn't say you stole anything; I said you came with the group of earthworms stealing from me!" He really hoped he hadn't contradicted himself right then.

Briskly, the ragged-furred tom stood up. "You two talk amongst yourselves or whatnot. I'm going to find some better company to hang out with." Better yet, he could ditch the point and go find somewhere else to live. There was always that twoleg stone-place that could serve as a shelter if he was desperate enough.

With that, Granite flicked his tail into a rude gesture and scrammed. Would he regret it later? Maybe. Likely not. But who cared? Life was boring without weak enemies to spice things up.

"Pardon? What do you mean by that?" she asked, her voice full of curiosity.

He snorted,
“Why did you want to leave your family?” Theodore meowed, as if talking to a kit, “You know? The one you left?”

Minnow followed a bit slower, dragged more by her long fur.

Thunderstorm and Bramble dashed off to the reeds and the second they left Blue's sight, they began to dab at the water with excited squeaks.

The tom screwed up his face in such a way as to indicate almost an 'eh' sort of response, "Trust me, I have no place in that high ground you speak of. Like you said, much too boring up there for me."

He, too, let out a light chuckle though this more... drawn out. And as it continued, his voice took on different qualities. When he opened his mouth again, Montag would hear his own voice spoken back to him. "I'd like to think I'm a little more interesting than that." A cheeky tilt of his head as his smile grew into a smirk. His voice once more his own, "Wouldn't you agree?"
