Re: Cattail Pond
Mistycloud “Huh? What are you sorry for..? It’s fine I just haven’t been able to grieve yet and it’s been several moons. If anything, I’m sorry you had to see me like this Antlerstreak,” Mistycloud sighed. She felt bad that a clanmate had to see her like this. Soon the tears stopped coming and she sat up to get a better look at the tom near her. The molly opened her mouth and began to speak, “hmm, I guess we could sit here and talk for a bit. I think that might make me feel better. You can choose the topic.” Her blue eyes glanced at Antlerstreak. Mistycloud stretched for a moment because her muscles were beginning to feel stiff. Re: Cattail Pond
Antlerstreak’s expression softened at the molly’s words. Ah, so she was grieving someone, or multiple someones. Antlerstreak knew the feeling. |

Re: Cattail Pond
Mistycloud “Yeah, that is true. We do live by a lot of blue,” Mistycloud laughed. Her white fur puffed out as wind blew across her back. She looked over at the tom as he spoke again. “Mhm, green is really pretty too, it makes me thing of newleaf which is a good season,” the warrior meowed happily. She noticed his expression soured a little, ah, he’s probably thinking about the kits she thought. “I’m sure the kits will survive y’know? We just have to keep our eyes on them and give them our food since after all, they are the future of the clans,” Mistycloud shrugged. Her blue eyes glimmered with hope that the clan would make it through this leafbare safe. Hopefully the clans didn’t get into any more fights. Mentions; Antlerstreak [ @Willowfern ] |

- .Fennelcall. - ( @estelle. - VSHDBUF IM SO SORRY ) Fennelcall gave the little apprentice a small smile, as the two arrived at Cattail pond, "And here we are." he padded over to the pond itself, pushing the cattails aside, reviling the glimmering surface, which was.. frozen, but what can you expect? A still body of water will always freeze over, he rested a paw of the surface gently, not daring to put pressure on it. He turned his head over to face Littlepaw, "Its frozen over, and don't try to walk on it, no matter how fun it seems, falling through ice can be deadly, especially since I'm guessing you cant swim yet." his tone was flat, but very strict, he paused for a moment "How about you have a little look around this area and then you let me know when you're ready to go, alright?" he figured giving her some lenience would be nice for her, that way she felt some independence, as he planned to teach her a little bit of swimming here. [I]Oh well, maybe later or tomorrow we can stop by havensprings, it shouldn't be frozen there and the water should actually be warm.[I] he sighed, his warm breath turning into a mist as it met the cool air. |

Antlerstreak continued to stare into the depths of blue until Mistycloud brought up the kits… his kits. |
Re: Cattail Pond
Mistycloud Mistycloud got confused by his facial expression, was he expecting kits? The she-cat glanced around. “Yeah, I’ll do my best to make sure we have food, but it isn’t just up to me, it’s up to the whole clan,” she paused, “wait, are you expecting kits? I didn’t mean it like that. I was talking about everyone’s kits my bad.” Her white fur fluffed out to keep her warm as a chilly gust of wind smacked into her. She shuddered and blinked away the glass tears in her eyes from the cold. Mentions; [ @Willowfern ] Antlerstreak |

Troutstone thought something was off when he first saw the pond, but he was too far away to realise what it was, but now that he was closer, he saw that there was a thin sheet of ice covering it. They probably wouldn't be able to fish in there now. |

http://warriorcatsonline.com/forums/...ictureid=34129 Autumnpaw post 37/100 [ @Rabbiteye @HolidayCandle ] Her ears were perked as they maneuvered through the territory. It wasn't too bad out today, not too cold. She scented the air. Crisp, and something that smelled frozen. When she saw the pond, she felt her fur prickle. Oh. That's what it was. Cattail Pond was frozen. She huffed, dejected as her ears flattened and her tail drooped. She liked fishing, she was looking forward to this. Then she got an idea. A dumb, weird idea. She immediately straightened back up. What if we break some of the ice? she suggested, going to stand on the bank of the thinly covered lake. It'd be pretty easy, the ice isn't that thick. |

Re: Cattail Pond
The patrol was completely silent as they walked to Cattail Pond, which unnerved Slatestripe. He wasn’t particularly interested in hearing about what Raccoonear had to say, but he was dismayed that Crowpaw had nothing to say. Slatestripe would’ve preferred a chat with the apprentice over the awkward silence that hung in the air. When they reached the pond, it was apparent that it was still frozen despite the warming weather. Areas of the pond had melted, but the majority was still a sheet of ice. Probably not a thick one, but enough to render the water useless for fishing. The small warrior glanced around. “Hopefully we can find something,” he commented, his tone grave. ( @Spotty @lane. ) |

She stepped into the small clearing, oceanic blue eyes observing the area carefully. She stood, not caring too much that she looked odd to her two patrol mates, just standing there scanning the area. "So... burnet and borage." A small smile crossed her face at the alliteration in that, for some reason it was fun to say. She would definitely be finding a way to say that again in one of her sentences. "One's blue flowers, the other is... spiky leaves." She continued to look around, finally leaving her statue-like stance. She continued to scour the area, pawpads near freezing off. "I'm not seeing too much on this side of the pond, have ya'll found anything? Or at least something not frozen to a brittle chunk," She added quietly at the end, a remark about how most of the plants were frozen now. |

Re: Cattail Pond
Slatestripe was glad Raccoonear knew what types of herbs they were looking for. Fawnpaw should know better than to send warriors with no medical training out for herbs when they had no clue what to look for. The warrior began a trek around Cattail Pond, scanning for any herb that resembled what Raccoonear had described. As he’d been expecting, pretty much everything had either died or gone into hibernation for leaf-bare. He felt a slight amount of frustration bubble up inside him. If Fawnpaw hadn’t run off on some grand adventure and abandoned her Clan, maybe we wouldn’t be in leaf-bare with low herb supplies. He pawed at snow here and there, hoping he’d uncover something. After several more minutes of trying, he resigned himself to defeat. He’d been searching for half an hour for herbs, and hadn’t found a thing. Padding back to where he started, he waited dejectedly for Crowpaw and Raccoonear. ( @Spotty @lane. ) |

//This is probably the last post for this patrol, I got an extension a few days ago, thankfullyXD. Sorry I didn't mention you in my last post, HolidayCandle:/ Troutstone sniffed at the edge of the pond. The ice was pretty thin. He tested it with one paw, and it began to crack. He pushed harder and water spilled over his paw. It was so cold it made him yelp and leap back. There was no way any of them were going to have a successful hunt in that, and they might catch a cold trying. You lose a lot of body heat through your paws, Troutstone knew. "No use," Troutstone meowed. "That water is way cold." He gazed at the ice thoughtfully. He hoped that they wouldn't get into trouble for not catching anything. "I wonder if I can carry a shard of ice back to camp before it melts..." The grey tom mused out loud. He gave his patrol mated a sidelong glance before clawing a medium sized piece out of the pond and gripping it between his teeth, making sure not to let his tongue or lips touch it. "Ets ed ack uo ank," Troutstone attempted to speak without moving his teeth. He flicked his tail in the direction of camp to indicate that he said, then padded away. |
Re: Cattail Pond
> RACCOONEAR | @Cherry~ time for ice skating fails hehe @Spotty
The search for any blue contrasting against the fresh white snow seemed almost pointless until Raccoonear spotted something. A quick flash of periwinkle blue from across the frozen lake. She was already too eager to spare herself from embarrassment, too eager to remember that the twolegs had clipped her claws down to the nub. During the second annual ice skating event, held by someone who she dearly missed, Snakeheart, she'd done quite well, because she had claws. The thought that they were most likely not going to continue Snakeheart's legacy by hosting it again fueled her to launch herself onto the ice, skidding and barely making it across the icy pond's surface before falling face-flat into the snow, right in front of the small blue flower. She weakly muttered things to herself. "Snow... has never been a bother for a thick-furred cat like me,, yet just like the time Wormbite was catapulted with snow on our patrol long ago, Leafbare has met me to be the worst thing I have ever had the displeasure of meeting..." She murmured, weakly enclosing her maw around the plant and picking it, slowly heaving her body from the snow, a dizzy look on her face. "And don't you two damn laugh..mrm,," She blinked slowly, nearly collapsing onto the ground before catching herself. "Im alri...right," The mumbles fell from her mouth like slurry, unclear and barely understandable. The snow had somewhat broke her fall but only about one fifth of her face actually hit the snow, the rest took the hard impact of cold and bitter ice. Well, she could probably make the walk home at least, but she would immediately collapse, it was too much to make it to a den or somethin'. |

Re: Cattail Pond
As Slatestripe waited for his companions (was it too kind to think of Raccoonear that way?), he began to think about the ice. Long ago, when he was a fresh warrior, he’d skated on the pond’s surface. It had been quite the experience, and one of the biggest challenges of his life. He wrinkled his nose as he remembered the jeering of one of his old friends when he slipped and fell for the fifth time. Still, it had been fun. Almost as if she had read his mind, Raccoonear sprinted out onto the ice. Her performance was less than graceful, as she quickly slid and face-planted right into a snow pile. Slatestripe did not hesitate to laugh, feeling justified in doing so considering the sassiness Raccoonear had presented at the last meeting. “I would’ve thought a cat of your expertise would know how to skate better!” ( @Spotty @lane. We have an extension until the 9th! ) |

"You're real bold to assume anything about me when we've met twice in your entire life, Slatestripe. Quit thinking of yourself and trying to impress others to put yourself in someone else paws for a second." She lifted one paw and shook the snow off of it to reveal her still bloody and clipped to the base claws, some traces of vile-smelling pink nail polish still on them, despite her avid efforts at Lionsbeach to remove it. "Literally. If you didn't notice, I popped up out of nowhere and walked into camp while securing a Shield position, but no, I came here to be your punching bag, not for myself. I was kidnapped, they clipped my claws down to this condition. Ain't pretty is it?" She turned to face Crowpaw. "At least I can trust my apprentice to not diss me out like that, you may not like being an apprentice like you showed at the meeting, but I appreciate you not making fun of something I can't control. Really." She cast Crowpaw a small smile before looking back at Slatestripe. "Think before you speak. This crap hurts everyday." She said, gesturing with her muzzle to her lifted claws before burying them in the snow to soothe them. "Two bits of borage is a success with the area in this condition, so we can head back now and drop this off in the Herb Storage. Sound good?" She mewed, quickly switching the tone of her voice. |
Re: Cattail Pond
( I’m going to have to skip over Spotty to ensure this patrol finishes on time :heartbounce: ) Immense guilt washed over Slatestripe as Raccoonear revealed their bloody and broken claws. He hadn’t realized. He had made his comment in good jest, but perhaps it had been a little harsh. He had lingering irritation at Racconear for acting snide at the Clan meeting, but that didn’t override his feelings of guilt over insulting her for her slip-up. The warrior said nothing further. He simply turned and began to follow Crowpaw back to camp. ( @lane. @Spotty Lane if you want to post again you can. Either way I’ll have Slatestripe report the patrol per birdie’s request later tonight! ) |

Re: Cattail Pond
Recent events had been a shell-shock for RiverClan, and though Frosthawk's heart ached for Fawnlight and Stonepaw, he thought the Clan was still in good paws.
Today, he had been hoping to do some hunting. Leaf-bare was at its peak, and with a growing Clan, food was more important than ever. He was almost invisible in the snow as he neared the pond, keeping close to the ground as to not startle any prey. Movement near the frozen water caught his attention, and he watched as Flintfang scraped at the ice. He was puzzled. "What are you doing?" [ @Kat ] |
