The tom smiled as Mosspaw took a direct approach to attack by rushing him. However, the apprentice likely wasn't looking where he was aiming by lowering his head for a headbutt, so the warrior jumped to the side to avoid it. "Eyes on the target," He meowed. "Especially when they know you're coming for them! Don't give them an easy way out." He nodded his head for Mosspaw to try again. |
Re: RiverClan Training Island
[ @Arie ] Goosefury paused at the bank of the river, tail flicking back and forth as he peered across the water at the training island. It wasn’t too far away, and although he was a little nervous about having to swim out there, it wasn’t himself he was worried about. He was worried about Eelpaw. His apprentice had her tail wound tightly around his hind leg, and he spared a glance down at her. “If you can’t swim, I can carry you on my back,” he offered. “It’s not too far out, but it can be kind of deep there in the middle. You gonna be all right?” |
Re: RiverClan Training Island
-- @Slushie -- Okay. She could swim though. But... her skills were not perfect. But for some reason, she had the courage to... to try. She would attempt it and if she went drowning, well... Goosefury wouldn't let her drown. He wouldn't, she knew that. So, knowing that in order to keep himself from drowning and to rescue her if she did end up drowning he would need his leg; she released it slowly with her tail before gazing across the water to the ground they would be training on. Okay. She could do this. Maybe. "I can swim. I think so at least. So... I'm going to try." She liked the sound of that word. Trying. That was what she was going to do for the rest of her life. Try. Try to be a good warrior... try to find her family maybe. And hopefully, try not to be abandoned again. But... she'd said she was going to try so there was no other way than... like try. So walking to the bank she slowly slid into the water, finding her body going on auto pilot and easily keeping her up even despite the mild current. She did it! She was doing it! And wasn't dying. But she couldn't help but send a small worried glance Goosefury's way. He was coming right? He wasn't going to leave her out here by herself was he? But... but she had to make it to that island and so, constantly turning her head back and forth - to check that Goosefury was still there and not gone and to check where she was going - she slowly crawled up onto the bank before turning properly around and waiting for her mentor, yellow eyes watching his every move, rarely blinking fearful that he would disappear if she did so. Blinking made cats disappear. She'd experienced that before. |

Re: RiverClan Training Island
Oh! Fun! She got to hit her mentor! And practice not getting hit! Her claws somewhat involuntarily sliding out, Rushpaw quickly snapped them back in, hoping her mentor hadn't seen. She didn't want to claw Leopardblaze, no she did not. Firmly shoving the claws farther into their sheathes, she swung her paw at her mentor's ears, with as much force as she could muster. Then, in a bit of a preventative measure, she dropped to the ground, lying flat on her belly. Then, realizing just how squashed that could get her, she scooted backwards, her belly fur undoubtedly covered in dirt by now. A few tail-lengths away, she looked up, saw no squashing butts, and then stood up, with a little squeal of excitement. @Leopardblaze
(Totally fine! Everyone has stuff IRL) |
Re: RiverClan Training Island
Sparring with her apprentices' was always fun for the spotted she-cat, she loved seeing their skills progress over time. She ducked her head slightly, feeling Rushpaw's smaller paws sweep over her ears with some force and at the same time her paw flashed outwards, lightly batting at Rushpaw's ears before her apprentice dropped down and quickly moved backwards. Leopardblaze let out a purr, "That was good!"

She hit Leopardblaze! She actually hit her! With a little hop of joy at spotting her mentor's still wiggling ears, Brightpaw chirped I got you! And you got me. But I got you! Which is good, right? And then her mentor said it WAS good! She had done well! Her excitement reaching an almost all-time high(right after her apprentice ceremony) and with a spurt of energy ran in a little circle where she was. Then, at a sudden insiration, she ran straight at her mentor. With her small size, she had almost no hope of doing any damage, but at this point, reasonable thought was at a premium. @Leopardblaze

Wait, what?? No, no, no NOnoNNONONonmobonononono sploosh Will little effort Cricketchirp was tossed into the water. With an undignified squeal eventually choked off by the inhalation of water going straight to his lungs and burning him inside out, his legs kicked and thrashed wildly, desperately seeking to get a hold on anything solid, splashing the water all about and not making his situation any better. In the brief moments his head breached the surface, he barely got in a breath of air, as his splashing put enough moisture all around him he breathed it in even as he surfaced. Suddenly the lessons weren't going so great. |

@Goldenmac
@Evie (Feel free to post whenever you can but please respect posting order.:happyhop: ) @ChillCat (Feel free to join if you so wish:bounce: ) Lotusheart led the apprentices to the training Island. Since Badgerpaw had a neglectful mentor, something Lotusheart could relate to, she decided to help her with training. She knew Wolfpaw did not enjoy battle training but he hadn't really worked on it much, plus she was afraid he'd harm himself while hunting again. "OK, um, guys. Time to train." she mewed as confidently as she could. She didn't want Badgerpaw to get a bad impression of her and, as usual, she was really shy around new cats. |
Re: RiverClan Training Island
-- @Goldenmac @Shadeleaf -- -Badgerpaw- "What are we d-doing?" Badgerpaw asked, her stutter making her sound nervous. Truth be told she was. She stared down at her front paws, one of which de-clawed. I'm useless, I'll never be a warrior, she though sadly. "A-and, thanks for l-letting m-me join your tr-training..." she stutterd, looking nervously between Wolfpaw and Lotusheart. |

Wolfpaw was actually pretty excited to train today and happy Badgerpaw could come along. Brightpaw could also be coming which would be even greater! Battle training wasn't his favorite but it still could be fun. "I'm guessing we're doing battle training, do you know any moves Badgerpaw?" he asked, "Also Lotusheart, it was really kind of you to let her come along, you're a great mentor!" the tom added. |

Wolfpaw turned his head, Brightpaw! Yay she was coming too! "Hi Brightpaw! This is Badgerpaw, she's coming along too" The tom smiled. Everyone was here, hopefully this wouldn't be too stressful for Lotusheart, judging by her expression she didn't seem the most confident but Wolfpaw was sure everything would turn out great. Badgerpaw also seemed worried, why? There was nothing to worry about! Wolfpaw simply tried to give Badgerpaw a comforting smile. @Shadeleaf @Evie |

@Goldenmac
@Evie @ChillCat Lotusheart got herself together. "N-no problem, Badgerpaw. Now, our first exercise will be a freestyle attack. Badgerpaw, this might be, um, difficult for you as, uh, you've never had battle training, but I suggest you do your best. The idea is, all of you try to attack me. Usually, 3 on 1 isn't fair but... "she looked at her flank in embarrassment. " I guess my big size is finally good for something... "the large white she-cat murmured. She got into position. " OK, if you want, make up a strategy quietly. Attack at once, take turns, it's your choice. "she mewed. |

The ideas sounded good, Wolfpaw took a moment to imagine how it would play out, one cat springing on to Lotusheart while another attacks her and while one cat pounces on her from the river. "Sounds good, i'm fairly good at swimming so i'll be the sneaker, who can jump best here?" the gray tabby asked. The sun seemed to shine brightly that day, leaves rustling in the wind, a great day for some swell battle training! Wolfpaw had never participated in an actual fight, the thought of cats wrestling just to win some trees while blood spilled on the autumn grass disgusted him. He knew he would have to fight some day and he dreaded that day. |
Re: RiverClan Training Island
"Alright Tinyfeatherpaw! Let's get this rolling."
Lionstar spun on his paws as soon as they hit the training island, expectant gaze on his apprentice. "I want you to show me your best defensive stance. Try to spread your weight - keep yourself balanced so it's hard for you to get knocked over. "Once you're in it, I'm going to smack you. Not toooo hard, just enough to test your distribution. We'll go into some defensive maneuvers and counter attacks once you have this down. Any questions?" [ @The Ink Demon ] |

-Bristlepaw- The young tom rolled his eyes with a annoyed huff, "you already said that." His ears pinned back annoyed, not fully but enough to show the message. Although this was Bristlepaw's second time out of the territory, and usually apprentices were all excited or what not, he was unimpressed. The land here was no different than what Cattail pond had been. At least then he had been able to swim. How he loved to swim but would never admit it. Either way, it was getting too cold to swim with his thick fur. It hadn't developed that oily way of slicking the water off of it yet, so he'd just get sick most likely if he were to take a dip. Jumping across the small stream that lined the training grounds, he waited for Fennelheart to instruct him with whatever her old bones could do. |

[ @BILL.; ] Tinypaw stopped whenever Lionstar did as to not run into him. He didn't want to seem clumsy when he only was when the voices and hallucinations happened. "Nope no questions.", he meowed with confidence. He hoped he wouldn't regret that answer. Tinypaw stood with one leg out and keeping his body low. He kept his paws onto the ground with all his weight which wasn't much. |
Re: RiverClan Training Island
[ @Arie ] Gosefury watched anxiously as she slipped into the water and made her way to the island. Then, with a deep breath, he followed suit. The water closed around his legs and then his chest and then then the base of his neck, and his eyes were narrowed as he tried not to freak. Maybe his fear of the river wasn't as bad as it used to be, but it was still there. Under the surface. Haha. Under the surface. I'm so funny. Maybe it was a good thing Eelpaw hadn't asked to be carried across. Goosefury was pretty sure he would have drowned. When he finally emerged on the other side he shook himself off, sending water droplets flying. "Okay, now that that's out of the way," he muttered to himself before looking up at Eelpaw. "What were you thinking about starting with, offense or defense? I'll let you pick." |

Cricketchirp had barely been getting better and starting to manage to move foward when Sootflare came by and plucked him up and out of the water. Well, mostly out. He was still in the water, the water lapping at his belly, nearly reaching his elbows, where Sootflare was.... less stuck in the water. "I would hope I would have done better if it hadn't been such a surprise, but I really doubt it." He coughed a few times, painfully. @wnder |

@Goldenmac @ChillCat (You guys can attack now as the plan thing isn't working out. I suggest you keep track of post order otherwise it'll be super confusing.) Lotusheart spotted the apprentices having some trouble. "You guys don't need anything fancy. I suggest you just send attacks at me one cat after the other and try to coordinate." she mewed, steadying herself and waiting for the first apprentice to strike. |
