Dawnstar gave a low growl full of frustration as Shadowfur gave her absolutely nothing to off of. She did not want a repeat of that murderous traitor. Shadowfur saved himself from getting snarled at as he proposed an idea of his own. "Fine, go, report back to me if you find anything worth my attention. If you don't find anything substantial informs the rest of the Enforcers, perhaps if you put your heads together we'll have this mystery solved faster than the issue with Heatherrain."

Ah. Nightshiver's eyes widened a little, surprised by the sudden news of... Cougarpaw. Still, a part of her felt strangely... Well, she wouldn't have expected to be told when no one but a kit knows. It was touching, in some way, and Nightshiver drew back a small smile as her eyes lightly squinted, hiding the twinge of sadness at the mention of his family. If only they could have been there for him, if only Brackenfire could have stayed. Cougarpaw had always been the most rambunctious of the litter, but Nightshiver sincerely believed him to have a good heart.
"I.. Ho-hope not... too.. hard"
She half-joked lightly, gently nudging her former apprentice's child in a somewhat playful manner. Though, her thoughts were sincere: she truly did hope Cougarpaw's mentor wasn't too hard on him.
"Thank.. you. For te-telling... me, c..Cougar..paw. I'll... remember."
Retracting her paw to be sitting back up against her other paw, her tail returned to being wrapped around he feet as she gazed upon the young apprentice with a gentle smile and soft eyes.
"If... If you ev..ever... need.. anything. Or... or if yo-ou wish... to.. sp..speak to.. someone.."
The words came unexpected even to her, feeling as though she wasn't supposed to be saying this to a child that wasn't her responsibility - still, it being something she wanted Cougarpaw to know.
"I'm.. he-here for... you. Always."

With permission from Dawnstar, Shadowfur set on the task of organizing a small group to go out in search of any clues. He picked a pair of cats he believed would show up and try: Darkfall and Slytiger. Shadowfur had come to know Darkfall as quite dependable; Slytiger was not a cat he’d interacted with much, but he knew of the cat as reliable through the grapevine.

“Darkfall and Slytiger!” he called. “I need your assistance with an important matter.”

( Darkfall and Slytiger don’t have to show up for this, but they’ll lose brownie points with Shadow if they don’t haha )

Cougarpaw nodded. "I'm an amazing self-taught fighter, destroyed him in a mock battle, but hunting... I don't know how to do well. And he won't train me. All he does is yell at me that what I'm doing is wrong, and then tells me to do stuff he never taught me, and yells some more. But he does pay attention to me and hasn't abandoned me, which is better off than most mentors I suppose, so I think I'll keep him. Could we go hunting though? Maybe you could teach me properly?" He asked.

Slytiger pricked his ears as his name was called across the clearing, and he turned to see one of the Clan's Enforcers calling him. He stood, giving his striped pelt a quick shake before trotting over. "Reporting for duty, Shadowfur!"

Shadowflight walked out into the clearing, tail wrapped tightly around her kits. She searched the clearing for her mate.
Harekit struggled under her mother's tail. She wanted to play.
