He peered at her nose, noting the wound didn't seem serious, but she likely needed to stop by Shiverpetal's den to make sure. "Use your size and your speed. You're smaller and faster than me, and if you focused on that-- you could knock my legs out from beneath me and pin me down." Of course, she couldn't go charging in like she had been-- she needed to be strategic! Lionstorm took a step back, lowering himself into a crouch. "Now try again." |

"ook, did i do it right?" she questioned oakflame, looking up at him with curiosity and hope filled in her wide-open eyes. the apprentice hoped so. she had wasted so much of her energy testing that move, although maybe it was just because she hoped to impress him and the move didn't actually take that much of her very valuable, precious energy. in hindsight, the move was actually pretty fun to carry out, other than the fact that her paws had to slam violently against the floor. that part... wasn't so fun, to say the least. |

"Of course, the leaping part isn't extremely necessary. But, for smaller cats, such as apprentices like you, it could help in soke ways " He said with a small grin. |
Re: RiverClan Training Cave
The thundering pawsteps announced the arrival of an awkward-footed Pebblepaw. She had yet to grow into them, so she was rather clumsy. It didn't help that she was only six moons old, so she was still in that kitten faze. But Pebblepaw took her immaturity to the extreme for a cat her age. She was so excited, that she was practically jumping in place. She didn't know any fighting moves, and at the rate she was going, she was going to be tired out and wouldn't be able to practice them. It was typically not a good idea to tell Pebblepaw what was being planned for the day. Snailriver was going to be lucky if he could get her to stay still long enough for him to give her any instructions. As she watched the other cats train, she started to get increasingly impatient. I can do that too! Why do I need to be taught to do it? Ah, the woes of being a new apprentice brimming with energy and inexperience. She dropped into a crouch like she was stalking prey, trying to imitate a battle position, then she pounced, flailing her paws and thudding onto the ground onto her belly. "Oof... ow..." She whined. That had certainly smarted, but the apprentice was far from feeling ashamed or embarrassed for her actions. She was right back on her feet, shaking the dust from her pelt. "I guess I should wait after all." She probably would have attempted the move again, if she hadn't noticed that her fur was now a mess. She definitely wasn't going to be making the best impression on Snailriver if she made herself anymore filthy. So, as she waited, she started to lick her fur. She knew it would only get dirty again, so she didn't bother making it perfect, she wanted to appear presentable. But, yuck, that dirt tasted awful! She so wished that she could sink her teeth into a delectable fish to wash away the taste, but she knew she wasn't allowed to. She'd get into big trouble for not shifting her weight now that she had a mentor. Well, it looked like she'd have to make do with spitting it out... "Bleh... pff!" |

if she could do a front paw blow, she would be able to do a front paw strike, right? that was what she repeated in her mind as she prepared herself for the move. spiderpaw glanced down at her furry paws, making sure the aforementioned paws were definitely unsheathed. for a moment she questioned whether she was supposed to be trying the move out on oakflame or just practicing it in the air. at first she tried slashing her claws down on an invisible cat that she was imagining. then she turned to her mentor, giving him a questioning look. |

Frustrated? She was beyond that now and the throbbing pain in her nose was making her more agitated by the second. How many times had lionstorm knocked her right onto her butt? Way too many for her comfort. As the Tom approached she felt her lips curl back in a frustrated hiss ‘ ‘ isn’t that your job- to teach me how to do it instead of beating me up first? ‘ ‘ she sneezed sending a spray of blood onto the sand. Her body already ached, her nose was dripping blood into her mouth and she had sand in just about every place imaginable. She would come away from this with a victory, no matter how much longer she had to stay here. ‘ ‘ fine old man ‘ ‘ she spat already fed up with his voice. As he crouched she took a brief moment to look him over, he was sturdy and obviously much larger than she was. He’d already taken to mentioning it- she chewed her lip anxiously as the panic of failure flooded her mind. She crouched yellow eyes scanning his for a long moment, than she darted to the side using her momentum she managed to swing herself around just in time skidding behind him- in a split second decision her forearm shot out angled for one of his hind legs |
Re: RiverClan Training Cave
"Fighting takes practice," Lionstorm informed her coolly. "This is a lesson in of itself: don't act, think. You rush into things too quickly Skinpatches, and look where that's gotten you." This time, her plan worked! Lionstorm had anticipated her to lunge at his side, and he turned to parry that-- but missed how she swung around and hooked his hind-leg. His leg caved, causing him to buckle down though he didn't collapse completely, and his muzzle burst into a grin. "Much better! Maybe you're not completely hopeless after all, huh, Skinpatches?" @jupiter |
