"Ok!" She meowed cheerily. "I'm Flypaw, by the way!"

Brambleheart flattened his ears in annoyance and glanced over to where Vinepaw was squawking. Some cat really needed to teach the apprentice a lesson. Trying to tune the arguing cats out, he nodded. He hadn't heard his name, so he assumed he would be following Splashleap to the border.

Splash and Starling -- oh dear. Ottersplash winced at the noticeable tension building between the two felines, mouth going dry. Splashleap’s tone was a little uh, edgy? The deputy was just nervous, though! Trying hard like all of them to serve the clan. He couldn’t imagine the pressure on her shoulders right now. And...Starling was usually so kind. Could it be a misunderstanding? Ottersplash made a mental note to check in later and see if the older warrior was okay; maybe stuff weighed on her mind, too.

On THAT awkward note. Shells! The ginger tom matched Splashleap’s speed leaving the camp, his long limps extending with every stride until he caught up with her.

Hey,” Ottersplash hummed in greeting, trying to bump his shoulder into Splash’s (if the deputy allowed it.) “Don’t worry about what she said. Starling’s probably just having a bad day, ya know? I think you’re doing great!” A gentle laugh vibrated in his chest as Otter tried to meet her eyes, almost sheepish. “And about the Lilyfrost Lizardfrost thing? You’re definitely not alone. I mix up names all the time, so - yeah.” He smiled with all the warmth he could muster. “You got this!

With that he took more of a backseat, following Splashleap’s lead. Otter didn’t know if that helped but...he hoped so.

Stormtalon’s attention shifted away from Vinepaw and onto Starlingflight, the leader of their little side patrol.

A good deputy respects and listens to suggestions from their warriors.

And a good warrior doesn’t publicly undermine their deputy out of pettiness,” Stormtalon mewed in a quiet, neutral tone as he approached, uncaring if Starlingflight heard. He usually refrained from commenting on this sort of thing. Leaders who listened to their subordinates showed wisdom, yes, but humiliating Splashleap (someone with everything to prove) didn't fix anything. It was just bad for morale.

Stay in my sight, Vinepaw,” he murmured. Silvery fur rippled as Stormtalon followed his patrol out of the camp.

"A good deputy respects and listens to suggestions from their warriors. It's foolish to act like they're an inconvenience; More heads working together is better than trying to think alone."

Splashleap had given her the task, and Starlingflight shook her head. "It was merely a suggestion, Splashleap... Be careful; Spitefulness isn't a very likeable trait." The black and white molly said quietly before flicking her tail and padding away. But before she went, she called over her shoulder, "Also, it's Lizardfrost, you're sending out with me, I believe. We don't have a 'Lilyfrost' in RiverClan." The older molly snorted, allowing a small amount of contempt to resonate in the sound as she padded off. Splashleap had bounded off after assigning her patrols. Hmph.

She searched for the cats she was to go out with, calling their names, Lizardfrost, Stormtalon, Vinepaw and Yellowpaw; We're going out to get mud and reeds to fortify the camp and den walls." She meowed and padded out of the camp.

Lizardfrost, rather prepared for patrol as usual, simply joined the rest of the cars. Was she supposed to say anything? Eh.

Wormbite's ears perked up, curious as they swiveled to the sounds of Starlingflight and Splashleap. He knew he tended to struggle to pick up on tone but that, well, both of that was not needed. He did not make a comment. He followed after Splashleap, trying not to grimace at the fact he was going to gather shells. Shells meant,, it meant sand. Usually at least.

He shuddered.

Sand was awful.

The somali snorted, giving Starlingflight an amused glace. He knew they need to stop their bickering, but it was all the more fun with the deputy and the other cat. He liked Starlingflight, she had a definitely likeable character, and a rather sassy demeanor. Just the cat for Darksun! He'd have to catch her later and talk to her, but nevermind that.

Yes, he did respect the deputy, any cat should, but it's okay to have an opinion. Like the black-and-white mollie said, 'A good deputy respects and listens to suggestions from their warriors.' He'd have to agree on the point.

Darksun just trotted along, matching Wormbite stride for stride. The black-and-white-speckled tom seemed friendly enough. "Hey.

[ driftbreeze - riverclan warrior]
> [ open for interaction ]

After waiting for such a extended period of time, the pelts of her clanmates ruffling her own as they passed, the lilac warrior was awaiting the deputy’s next call with eager impatience. Good StarClan, did it truly take so long to organize such simple patrols? At the very least it would be a commendable idea to make the throng of cats surrounding Splashleap sit down instead of incessantly moving all the time; truly, the deputy could barely be expected to pick out the coats when she finally made her picks. That was the she-cat’s own doing, though, letting the crowd be so unorganized.
Driftbreeze herself, despite her disdain for the constant shuffling, found herself edging closer forwards after a few moments; not at a call, no, the tall she-cat could have heard fine from her previous position anyways, but out of morbid curiosity. All she had heard was the noticeable tone of the deputy’s voice, quiet yet sharp, with the implication that there was some sort of drama happening; that easily piqued the warrior’s curiosity. Narrowing her light eyes as she shouldered through the cats, a wave of satisfaction rolled over the lilac she-cat as she caught the last words uttered between Starlingflight and the now sheepish looking Splashleap. Driftbreeze would have to ask someone else fill her in on what started that, but despite having no issues with the deputy she found it interesting to see her bitten back to like this. Splashleap seemed like the type to take it laying down, the warrior couldn’t blame Starlingflight for pouncing on that.
Filing away the little piece of conflict in her mind for later, the molly sat and angled her ears as the patrols began to be announced… and flicked her tail in annoyance once the deputy bounded away, finding it quite rude to be thrown in with the likes of the kits and tactless warriors as ‘others’. Perhaps Splashleap was due to have another problem warrior on her hands.
Doing nothing to hide her indignant look, Driftbreeze stalked along with the rest of the group, sticking herself near the front, yet away from any cats whose pelts she didn’t want at all near her own.

[ rapidwhisker - riverclan warrior ]
> [ open for interaction ]

The only moment of note to the thick-furred warrior was the momentary tension between the deputy and what looked to be a few clanmates talking to her directly; Rapidwhisker was far enough off to only catch a dull hum rather than words, not enough to make out who was involved, let alone pick up on what was said. She didn’t need to, however, a little more content knowing she wouldn’t have someone else’s business rattling in her mind for the next moon; though the plethora of heads that seemed to turn to catch the bickering closer up gave her some choice opinions on the drama leeches in question.
Lifting a paw to draw it roughly over her face, the she-cat discarded any of that train of thought- if Splashleap’s debate was none of her business, neither were any of the cats who thought it was theirs, no matter how off-putting she found it.
A gentle murr escaped her mouth as the groups were finally called, the brown cat looking up suddenly with a cheek rubbed the wrong way, angling her ears in the hopes to hear as much as she could; thankfully she didn’t need to be close enough to hear a simple conversation to hear a clearing-wide call. Once the deputy finished giving her orders, Rapidwhisker was nothing but excited to get out of camp and do something a little new, glad the wait was over. Hanging back in spite of that, she resolved to let the named cats sort themselves out before proceeding, worrying about how easily she could get in the mix and muddle things up while also simply not being at all a fan of crowds, the she-cat finished slicking her fur back by the time she found it agreeable to stand up and plod after the rest of the clan, slowly trickling out on the trek to the beaches.
