Snowypaw

Winds that felt like they were pushing from all directions with the force of a gale buffeted Snowypaw, his feathery, fluffy coat quickly becoming a billowy mess. With no time to even notice this, however, the large tom unsheathed his claws as he steadied himself against a particularly strong gust of wind, his ears flattening at the menacing sound that erupted in its path.

Having already crossed the first of the windy hills, it was the middle one that always gave him pause in his daily marches through WindClan territory. Despite his large size, the air here was no breeze, letting its fury known to all who dared cross it, especially here at the tallest peak. Gratefully for the young apprentice, while he may have been clumsy and not the most talented, stamina was one thing he excelled at. He supposed he had Deadmoon to thank for that, as despite the effort of crossing this hill now, it was nothing compared to his first crossing during the territory tour he got his very first day as an apprentice.

A small glow of pride warmed his heart at this memory. He really did owe so much to his mentor. And finishing this race was definitely one way to show how far he had come! Plus he wouldn't let his teammates down!

Glancing back, Snowypaw couldn't help but give a curious head tilt. It seemed no one was close by. He grimaced, his tail lashing as he realized he hadn't been paying attention to most of the competition since he had passed by Specklepaw before. Could he have been so focused on not losing his footing that he didn't even notice the other cats pass him? Turning to look to his front, he saw no cats there either, and a small growl of frustration bubbled in his throat. If that was indeed the case, then he was a lot further back than he had first thought! This was no time to be lollygagging about! He had a race to finish!

With a new burst of energy, massive paws pounded the ground, kicking up dirt once more as he made his way through the hills, ready to meet up with the others at the finish line.

(I probably have to make up for lost time—)
The short, smiling feline didn’t need further encouragement as she raced out of camp. Rosepaw’s spirits soared for no reason except that she loved the outdoors, she loved running. So when Fallownose instructed her to straighten her spine and lengthen her stride, Rosepaw did so and continued onward, laughing demurely up at the sky. The peach-furred feline grinned at nothing in particular as she raced onto the moor, paws drumming against the ground to match the beating rhythm of her heart.

Snowypaw

Lungs burning with exertion as his legs took long strides through open terrain, Snowypaw struggled to keep his pace up. He was thankful he knew WindClan territory as well as he did at this point. Had he gotten lost or not known the quickest routes to take, he felt he might have simply collapsed before getting this far. Worry kept gnawing at the back of his head as well. Why had he seen no cats? No teammates, no competitors, nobody. Was he really so far behind that even this close to the finish he hadn't bumped into any of them? The thought alone fueled him onwards, spurring his massive paws to keep going, his lungs to not give in just yet. All he needed was to get to that finish line!

And then... he did. He was sure this was the finish line, wasn't it? Swiveling his head around, the gentle giant stared everywhere in confusion. Where were the others? His ears flattened in fear. Had he gotten to the wrong place? Maybe he didn't know WindClan's territory as well as he thought he did. Oh no... Deadmoon would have his pelt if that was the case! She had been so thorough in getting him to know the lay of the land and everything! Unsure of what to do next, Snowypaw sat down, his feathery tail curling up around his paws in an attempt to calm himself. Taking a deep breath, he closed his eyes while the pounding on his head subsided, his lungs slowly easing the fire that had been eating them up for the past couple of seconds. He was sure this was the finish line. That was the only certainty he had. With this in mind, he set his jaw resolutely and turned his gaze towards the horizon, hoping to soon see some friendly faces arrive.

Fallownose grinned as Rosepaw seemingly enjoyed the race and glanced over at Beetleblaze to see the other tom keeping pace. Many racers had pulled ahead, and while the deputy knew his long legs could easily cover the distance, this was a team event, and he would stay with the team. Plus, it made it more fun that way!

As Swooping Cliffs flashed by, Fallownose ensured he was between Rosepaw and the edge. Though there was plenty of room, he didn't want the apprentice to take a tumble and go tumbling over the edge. Soon enough, that branch was over, and they were on the way to the Sky Glade.

Rosepaw
Post Count: 7/100
When she finally reached Swooping Cliffs, her gaze strayed to look for her clanmates. Her smile faltered a bit after thinking of something. It didn’t really matter if their team didn’t win, right? Doubts sprung to mind, but Rosepaw pushed them aside, casting a sidelong glance in Fallownose’s direction. He didn’t look frustrated that they were losing. No one would care if they lost. Besides, this was a team effort, just a fun event for the Clan to be brough together in their saddest times. Rosepaw only paused for a few moments, and then darted onward, forcing her grin as broad as ever. She was enjoying herself, and nothing could stop that.
