Kestrelpaw's eye widened the Thunderclsn apprentice suddenly picked up Birdpaw, and shook her violently. She screamed as Birdpaw was dropped, and rushed over to the older molly's side. "Bird, Bird, Bird..!" She said, panic starting to grow in her chest. "Bird please. Bird." She kept an eye on the tom, her hackle fur raising. Should she fight him again? Try her luck against him again? But just as she made the move to charge him, Gingerfrost ordered them all back to camp. She gave a quiet frustrated cry, but held it in. "Burd, Bird, please. We need to get you back." She pressed her head into the crook of the older apprentice's shoulder, shivering quietly. Tears began to form. She stared at the tom, before giving him a hard nod, a lump forming in her throat. [ @jupiter - getting a post out so they aren't intruding! ] |
Re: Cattail Pond
Birdpaw
It was all so fast. Cracklepaw's blood stained her paw, and she wiped it on the ground, teeth flashing. "I'm pretty sure I'm older." Being called a child by someone obviously younger was insulting, but near insulting enough for her to get angry enough to lose focus. Or so she thought. Before she had time to react, her skull exploded with pain as a paw slammed into the side of her head, sending her lurching forward with a startled squeaking gasp. Claws sliced across her head and shoulders with a passion, and she flew claws rake across her upper face, lifting her paws to shield herself. She knew how to fight, but this... this guy was another level of cruel. Insane. She felt teeth sink deep into her scruff, and she felt her paws flail as he lifted her up and shook her, Kes's scream ringing in her ears as she was flung in the direction of the pretty tabby. Her relatively high pain tolerance due to past experiences, she was briefly unbothered, before she looked up and saw someone standing above her, eyes narrowing, unfocused as her confused, terrifying flailing chilled into staring up at the other molly. "K-Kes-" She blubbered softly, looking over as Beanstar hit the ground, a small scream building in her throat as blood dripped down her face, mingling with shocked tears. Beanstar was dead. Her sister's father and father's friend. To her? He was nothing, really. He never made any mention of their distant found family connections, so to her.... he was just a liar who ruined her father's life then ruined everyone elses. A liar. A liar lay dead, and her mentor called for them to all leave Cattail Pond. Eyes found Kestrelpaw's once more as her name was spoken from quivering lips, nodding slowly in response to Kes's words. Back. Back to... where? Pushing herself to her paws, dizzy, she whimpered softly. What if the scratches on my face never heal? I'll be ugly, and then I won't deserve Kes. She deserves someone as beautiful as she is, a-and.... and I don't know if I'm able to be that for her. "Kes." She whispered softly, wobbling on extremely dizzy paws. "Y-you're okay?" // @sol. - next post can be in the wc + rc battle thread (or maybe a timeskipped extension + this can also be the ending post) where the sweeties try to avoid fighting hehe @Leafí |
Re: Cattail Pond
Violetfreckle’s spirits soared as she emerged from the thick forest of ThunderClan back into somewhere she was comfortable -- under the sun, by Cattail Pond. With a long, drawn out stretch, the lilac tabby flopped onto her side, enjoying the warm rays of the sun above. As her pelt warmed, her idle purr grew louder, more content. She had no idea how ThunderClan cats could prefer living under trees. The open sky was unarguably better in every way. She stretched her forelegs and turned to lay on her back, causing her front paws to extend into the air like a kit playing with a dangling leaf. Violetfreckle was content to sit there, but she felt an itch. A kind of… mischievous itch. |
Re: Cattail Pond
Ah, Cattail pond, the most relaxing place in Thunderclan territory. At least, now it was. The most relaxing spot, Sunkissed creek had a little.. incident. So, he decided to chill here. Rainfall listened for anything that might be dangerous, only to find nothing. He sighed, finally loosening up his muscles after so long. It had seemed like moons since he had last relaxed without interruption. He was a skittish, yet fearsome cat. He was average height, yes, but he was agile and slim, with strong paws. When it came to battle with Shadowclan, he’d fight with tooth and claw to keep his clan safe. When was the last time he had felt safe? He scrolled through his memories and everything he knew and couldn’t find a thing. Was this really that bad? He sighed. He came here to relax, not stress. But even as he told himself this he couldn’t help but stay tense. Frustration rose inside of him. It was too hard to relax now! War had made him too tense. That or maybe he was simply not trying too hard? He groaned, sitting slouched over, upset now.

Re: Cattail Pond
Firestream Thunderclan drama queen warrior Firestream padded carelessly to Cattail pond her dark blue gaze glancing around, so this was Thunderclan's new piece of territory she had heard there was some big fight over it and the Riverclan leader Beanstar or whatever his name was died...what a stupid thing for a leader to die immediately anyway was it worth it? She'd be the judge of that. Flicking her plumy tail causally the pretty she-cat stopped at the edge of the pond and stared at it for a moment before sitting down and giving her paw a quick lick and starting her inspection. "A pond... well that's not much use except for...I don't know scenery mabye?" she thought judging it already well she was already judging it but... well now was her first official judge of it...nevermind the point was she knew what she was doing. Carefully the dark ginger and cream tabby dipped a paw into the calm surface of the water only to pull it back immediately and frown in disgust as driplets flew everywhere "Lovely..." she thought in disdain before putting her paw down and starting grooming herself as she usally did unaware of anything now. Ottersplash Bushy brown she-cat with yellow eyes Those darn ThunderClanners! Taking Cattail Pond from RiverClan. They won't get away with this. Ottersplash quietly and quickly padded into Cattail Pond. She knew she was trespassing, but she didn't care. She had a job to do. She had made sure to disguise her scent before coming here, rolling in some dirt and mushrooms. In her jaws was a leaf wrap, inside the leaf wrap, water hemlock. She had come here for one purpose only. To taint the prey of Cattail pond. She quickly went to work, setting down the leaf wrap, and unwrapping it. Carefully, she picked it up and set it down somewhere hidden, but where prey would find it. She then picked up the leaf wrap and discarded it. She then ran out of Cattail pond, heading back to RiverClan's territory. Hopefully, she disguised her scent enough otherwise there would be consequences. Very bad consequences. |

[ ''I want more than anything to prove my loyalty to my Clanmates, but it's hard knowing how they feel about me.'' ] Lynxroar slid into Cattail Pond, blue eyes narrowed. The ThunderClan warrior's expression was unreadable. Was this really worth it? Trying to catch prey in territory that they don't even know about? Lynxroar remembered the brutal battle with RiverClan in order to take Cattail Pond. The battle where Bumblestar had killed Beanstar for it. That had Lynxroar wondering, was it really worth it? Killing Beanstar for a patch of territory? The she-cat gave a swish of her tail. This was formerly RiverClan land, and Lynxroar knew it had no worth to ThunderClan. ''I'm starting to think that Bumblestar was wrong to kill Beanstar,'' Lynxroar murmured to herself. ''I mean, the warrior code states that a true warrior doesn't kill to win battles.'' Lynxroar sat down, feeling bad for RiverClan. They had lost their leader to ThunderClan, and Lynxroar, honestly, hoped they were getting along well. Lynxroar shuffled her paws, ears drooping. ''We broke the code just to prove that we were strong. We broke the code for territory. That's wrong.'' |

Re: Cattail Pond
Shypaw had been right.
Bumblestar stared down at the bundle of plants in front of her paws. It stunk of mushrooms and earth, with just a hint of signature fishface stench. The work of RiverClan, for sure. It didn't look like anything had gotten into it. She could only imagine the sorts of things tucked away. She could come back to this later. Bumblestar scraped out a hole amongst the roots of the tree away from its initial hiding place and dumped the entire thing inside before burying it again. Maybe Drizzlecloud would have a clue as to what it was, could figure out what was wrong with Wolfpaw. She glanced over her shoulder before following the scent trail. |
Re: Cattail Pond
Bumblestar dragged Roseraven and Ghostwhisperer out of camp with her. She’d offered little explanation to them when she had tugged them away from whatever they had been doing in camp, but the anger that practically radiated from her in waves should have been enough to clue them in that something was wrong.
Her paws met soft grass and she skirted the edge of the pond, moving right to the buried bundle of herbs, where she dug it up once more and jabbed a paw at it. “Poison,” she spat. “Shypaw found a RiverClan cat leaving this in our territory. My guess is they’re pissed we grabbed Cattail Pond and they’re trying to get payback in the most cowardly way possible. Wolfpaw's already been affected, there's no telling if any other cats have yet, but that means prey's already been poisoned and I don't wanna let it sit for any longer. Taking this to Drizzlecloud later.” She reburied the bundle, tail whipping behind her. “I followed the scent across the border but it went too far to go on my own. You two are gonna help me find their camp so I can deal with ‘em. I’m anticipating a trek. Keep up with me, I know which scent to follow.” Should’ve brought ragweed. Too late now, she’d pick some up on the way back. [ Keep this brief!! This should move pretty rapidly, your posts do not have to be long at all; will be moving from Cattail Pond (1 round of posts) to Windswept Plains (2 rounds of post) to Rugged Range (1 round of posts) where we’ll finish up. Re: Cattail Pond
@vampire
@dino. Roseraven was no stranger to poison. Or inter-clan conflict. It was interesting, though. And it didn't sound like something RiverClan had authorised. Too small in scale. Perhaps it could be resolved semi-peacefully if whoever was in charge of RiverClan right now denounced their involvement and punished the wrongdoer themself. She hoped the current medicine cats were able to handle the poisoning. She had other work now. The small tabby followed the leader. "Have we checked for more?" |

The trek back to their own territory wasn't exactly difficult, but the first walk was starting to take its toll on her, and her legs ached by the time she crossed back over ThunderClan's border and made it back to the edge of Cattail Pond. The sun had begun to set by this point, and she glanced up at the sky before looking back at Roseraven. "Don't go straight back to camp just yet. Split up, find some ferns to roll in, and take the long way 'round. Don't need to lead 'em straight home like they did for us." She moved to scrape the bundle of plants out of the dirt again, intent on bringing it to Drizzlecloud once she'd masked her scent and done a quick lap around the territory. |

"Got it. Be careful bringing those back. Keep your head pointed down and don't crunch on them. Or better yet, just keep them in the crook of your front leg and limp back. We don't need you getting poisoned too." With that, Roseraven stumbled off, eventually finding her way to some lavender. It covered up her scent nicely but had the side effect if making her very sleepy. |
Re: Cattail Pond
[Sparrowpelt] The tom merely gave the deputy a nod, not really acting his charismatic self as he started to head towards the entrance and out into the territory. It was a quiet trek and frankly, he wasn't paying attention to if Softsky would show and follow or not. Alderstep was here to witness the absence and could punish accordingly if necessary. Once at Cattail Pond, the tom turned to the deputy and awaited an order. It was just habitual for Sparrowpelt. He was not made for leader roles and simply followed tasks to a T. @navarra @WinterMara |
Re: Cattail Pond
Alderstep wondered why Sparrowpelt was so quiet. Maybe the guy was just dulled down because it was a patrol. He mentally shrugged off his worries and looked to the Pond, scanning the area and taking in the scents. He nodded to the left side of the waters, ears flicking with recognition. "Let's hunt there; I can smell some sorta rodent," he remarked to his companion, picking his way through the reeds. Despite all the trouble the clan had gone through to acquire this bit of territory, Alderstep had never visited it before. He liked it, he decided. Felt peaceful.
Sharp eyes caught signs of movement in the grass, and Alderstep halted in his searchful strolling. He canted his head to the side, glancing at Sparrowpelt to indicate that the water vole was all his. Dunno 'bout him, but Alderstep would rather catch a bird. He was feeling rather bird today. He hoped there was bird nearby to catch. It'd be disappointing if there wasn't. @SuspiciousMindz |

Re: Cattail Pond
[hey boss, we might need one extension unless you wanna rush replies] Sparrowpelt glanced towards Alderstep, giving him a quick nod and following. It didn't take long before they'd stumble across the vole and Sparrowpelt took the que to creep forward. With trained muscles, the tom shot forward, paws aimed for where he could hear the creature. He'd nip the creature's neck before standing with the prize in his mouth. However, he did glance down at his paws, grimacing at the muddy mess this rodent created. |
Re: Cattail Pond

His green gaze swept once again across the clearing, eyes narrowing as he listened for any sign of a bird. There was only the swaying of reeds. Poor luck. He'd have to settle for another vole or something. Alderstep softly sighed and carefully picked his way around particularly muddy parts of the region, head low as he sniffed for any scent trails. He picked one up not long after he began his search. Following the trail took him maybe several fox-lengths from the place Sparrowpelt had caught his game. The russet's keen eyes picked up on slight movement and - aha. Mole. He bunched his muscles and pounced, slamming sharp paws on top of the small creature, using his weight to snap its neck. Alderstep released a small breath of relief and picked up the animal. "Let's get back, yeah?" he said, more of a statement that he felt they were done there rather than a suggestion. And Sparrowpelt had remained eerily silent still. He padded over to the brown tabby and attempted to flick his red tail tip against his dark flank. Payback. He wasn't gonna just toss a mole about; that was not very good. This shall suffice. [we should be fine - can just assume they went back from here if you'd like :heartbounce: ] |

foxstep Nightly rains and morning showers brought the pond's muck and grime's wrath upon his pelt, bogging him down ever so slightly as he prowled close to the wet ground. The occasional ray of light broke in between the cloud cover, making the opaque pond shimmer in its illumination. The glare cast by the reflective wave, warped by the lapping waves, caught Foxstep's wary eye. The tantalizing silhouettes of swimming fish taunted him like a siren song calling a victim beneath the waves. Foxstep scrunched his nose up in distaste. Someday, he'd catch a fish for fun and then brag about how those dumb fishcats were losers for eating scaly things or whatever. Maybe. [ closed ] |
Re: Cattail Pond
At the edge of the pond's clearing, Pinedrop crouched low in the underbrush. The scent of damp earth mingled with the sharp tang of pine needles as he carefully prepared his plan. He had defected from his Clan, his desire to knock ThunderClan down a peg superseding any true sense of responsibility. To him, this was his duty: weakening ThunderClan so RiverClan might reclaim the pond.
Pinedrop's narrowed eyes glinted as he planted various, potentially poisonous herbs around the area. He knew he had to strike when the moon was at its peak, the Clan's vigilance at its lowest. This was his chance to continue what others had failed: their efforts were scattered and unfocused compared to him, his mind sharpened by his determination and unyielding resolve. Where they failed, he would succeed. Pinedrop glanced around, ensuring he hadn't been spotted. Satisfied, he slinked away into the shadows, his heart twisted with anticipation. The plan was set, and the seeds of darkness had been sown. It was only a matter of time before ThunderClan would face the consequences of his actions. [ closed ] |
Re: Cattail Pond
Anddd now Cattail Pond. The center of it all. His passion for reclaiming what was lost would always surmount any loyalty. This was his duty.
Upon investigation, he was disappointed to find these herbs were not as disturbed as the rest. Regardless, Pinedrop would renew and add onto. He took a brief detour to grab plants from the surrounding area and planted them at random. When his work was finished, he moved on to depart. The last thing he needed was to be caught, especially now. He still had more work to do. [ closed ] |
Re: Cattail Pond
Berryfall listened to the cheerful sounds of birds singing. She didn't feel like trying to catch any of those birds today, though. What she really wanted to do was go fishing. Even though she didn't belong to Riverclan, she enjoyed getting her fur wet. She knew none of the other cats from her clan would want to get their paws wet, so she went herself!
The tall, reed-like cattail plants brushed against her nose as she settled down at the pond's corner. She positioned herself so her reflection didn't show on the water. This way, the fish wouldn't see her coming. Berryfall waited patiently, keeping an eye out for any fish swimming her way. It felt like she had been waiting for a long time, but it might have only been a few minutes. Finally, she spotted a small trout heading in her direction. She made sure her reflection was hidden and got ready to catch it. With a quiet "3...2...1...now!" she plunged her paw into the chilly water. She managed to hook her paw around the trout, pulling it out of the water. Berryfall quickly finished off the fish, tasting the metallic tang of blood in her mouth. She repeated this process three more times, ending up with a small pile of four dead fish by her side. Satisfied with her catch, she decided to pick up the fish and head back to camp. |
