The Enforcer slunk out of the warriors' den at Dawnstar's call, her expression sour as the leader explained what was going on. Apparently, some Clanmates had issues. Stupid ones at that if Deadpool's comments were anything to go by. Had they been hallucinating?? Vixensnarl was pretty sure she would have noticed a rotting body in camp.

"Deadpool. Are you braindead? If you can't even remember the names of your Clanmates, then clearly they haven't stuck out enough to be named deputy. And Dawnstar can correct me if I'm wrong, but holding events is the least of her worries when these past moons we've had Clanmates murdering each other, getting killed by predators, and the issues with ThunderClan. Also, are you trying to say that Dawnstar should be biased towards her kin? It has never been her policy to search for missing Clanmates. I bet if she had gone out to search for Roanpaw, you would have started complaining about he got special treatment because he was related to her. Next time you speak, say something useful," she spat.

Honestly, if cats couldn't pull their heads out of their asses and see that Dawnstar was working her ass off to keep ShadowClan stable, then they could just leave. Like seriously, the leader had said multiple times that anyone is welcome to leave ShadowClan if they don't like the way things are run. Vixensnarl didn't know why some of them stayed when all they were going to do was complain and whine but not do anything to try and fix their imagined problems.

Cloverkit, awoken from his nap, dared to peek his head out of the nursery for a second time. Fortunately, there were no dead bodies this time; Dawnstar was just calling another meeting. He waddles out of the den and into the clearing, finds a seat for himself, and listens to her announcement.

The dogs were dead? Cloverkit heaved a sigh of relief. Nightmares of dogs tearing up the camp - and everyone he loved - wouldn't plague him anymore. It was a shame they destroyed the Moonlit Grove... whatever that place was.

Dawnstar continued her speech, publicly calling out Icethroat and any other cat who had a problem with her to speak up. The little kit couldn't understand why any cat would hate her. Sure she was super scary and mean-looking, but she made the bad dogs go away, right? She was a good big cat!

The lanky, blue-black apprentice had been feeling quite trapped lately. In camp, with nothing to do. Their mentor... Their mentor was gone, and it hurt more than they cared to admit. Blue hues picked up ShadowClan's youngest Enforcer slipping back into camp and sitting down to lick at whatever wounds she'd sustained in silence. For a moment, Starlingpaw watched them, and then turned back to what they'd been doing. Slipping out of the warriors' den, where they'd been searching for their lost mentor, the tall feline settled in a corner of the clearing, overly long tail flicking back and forth on the ground beside them.

They hadn't been expecting it, but one of the newer apprentices - Starrypaw was her name, they believed - bounded over with a wide grin, practically sitting down on their tail. Two seconds later, however, Starrypaw had pivoted on her heel and raced off, skidding to a stop beside a brown tabby. "Hiya!" The chipper apprentice exclaimed, and then settled beside Cloverkit [ @Woodlow ] without asking for invitation.

For once, not only does Woollyfeather decide to attend a Clan meeting of her own choice, she's one of the first few to gather beside her leader. As she trots past her patrol group, she finds somewhere to sit, eying the few that have made themself known.

She had her own thoughts about how Dawnstar ran things, but mostly acknowledged her reign and respected that she could somehow keep this unruly Clan in line. She'd mellowed considerably, so Woollyfeather wasn't sure where all this fuss was suddenly coming from.

Deadpool yawned as he lifted his head to look out of the warriors den entrance. Looks like the 'queen' decided to address the dogs and that Ice-Whatever-Hails-Name-Was callout. Deadpool took their sweet time stretching and grooming its scarred black and ginger fur. Once Deadpool assumed he was 'presentable' enough they walked out of the den. The cat looked up at the tyrant before taking a seat. Deadpool turned its head to listen in on whatever Woolyfeather had to say. Pfft, Really bringing up the subject of a deputy. Something in the snarky mouth cat made them want to say something.

"Say, not to start a fight or anything but like.. I think we have two cats or well now one who Dawnstar could pick as a deputy. Shadowpelt and Larkflame or whatever their names are. They're both enforcers and should definitely be on Dawnstars top picks, Yeah? Lets not forget the last time she herself had actually thrown a event! When was it uhh When Larkblaze was a wee little apprentice. I'm pretty sure a leader is supposed to be active with their clan. Oh oh! What about how she didn't realize Miredog was dead. The queen didn't even go look for her own rotting grandkit, stars bless his soul. Yeah, us as a clan aren't the best but the ruler of shadows seems to be lacking~"

Deadpool hummed as he went to lick their paw as if it didn't say anything.

Why not do yourself a favor and pick your successor and get the hell out the leader position as you clearly do nothing in it. Other than host a meeting every once in a while of course, or as Vixensnarl said, was aiding your clanmates in events the least of your concerns? The only enforcer you have doing anything around here are Cougarivy and Larkfire, try putting more active cats in those positions. As I said before you went to go handle the situation at Moonlit grove. How in the actual hell did a simple comment she'd whispered to someone she felt comfortable with turn into.... whatever in the goddamn hell this was.
Woollyfeather turns to Deadpool and Icethroat.
"I see our mothers didn't teach us to not butt into conversations they weren't included in. The both of you are making mountains out of molehills. I don't understand how what was supposed to be a joke to a friend turned into a full out argument, but I ask that your further comments not include me. I don't have time to listen to you all squabble like kittens."
She lashed her tail.
"And as for "Oh so why don't you step up", I have never pretended to show interest in being deputy and nothing that I've said could even hint a desire to be. Besides, I've never seen either of you step up either. You've never hosted an event and you didn't even volunteer to accompany our patrol. Actions speak louder than your shrieking, and your actions are falling flat when held up against your accusations. I'm done here. Do not speak to me unless we need to. I had no intention of starting an argument. It was a private comment to a friend and you all have twisted it into some political drama I have never tried to associate myself with."
With a snarl, Woollyfeather picked herself up and began walking away, sending an apologetic look to Hawkbite.
"We'll talk later, alright? Unless you want to follow me. I just don't want to deal with this."
With that, she trotted away, fitting herself in a corner of the clearing as far away from all cats as she could manage. Besides, she didn't have to tell them all she's stepped up and done for her Clan when others did nothing. She'd just come home from fighting dogs that they hadn't volunteered to help kill, and somehow those that went along were the lazy ones?
She wrapped her tail around herself, familiar dark emotions playing around in her head as she watched the rest of this freak show go down.

Shadefrost tried to listen to Icethroat's complaints, in all seriousness, he did. However, the warrior soon found himself rapidly blinking at every word coming out of his clanmates mouth, understanding nearly nothing. Except for when ever Icethroat said ablelism. He released a sign and padded up to the extremely annoying cat. "Yeah I'm going to need you to say all of that again, but in a much simpler way. I couldn't follow."

Boy oh boy did everyone have an opinion now. The group of cats around him had started spewing arguments. Woollyfeather merely wanted to speak to him. She had sat next to him. Spoke those words to him. Yet here came Deadpool butting into the conversation that hadn't even began. Vixensnarl followed then the audacity of Icethroat. All in this short amount of time, Hawkbite couldn't get a word in. Instead, he let the frustration ripple through his pelt and his claws flexed into the dirt.

Although the moment the backlash at Vixensnarl occurred, the tom felt his body tense. A growl rose from his throat before he turned and face Icethroat directly, stepping in before someone else decided to cut him off. He wasn't really thinking when he stepped in front of his sister, almost shielding her from the words.

"That's a lot of talk coming from someone that hasn't tried to change those moments or step up sooner. Don't you think you're part of the problem you think is happening? Hiding behind your clanmates, perhaps complaining to your friends when at any point in those moments you could've done or said something. At any point in your life, you could've walked yourself out of this territory. No one is making you stay. In fact! I do recall numerous times Dawnstar invited cats to leave who didn't like it here!" Hawkbite began, his tone was calm, though his eyes were blazing. "You have so much to say about our leader yet I see you doing nothing. So tell me what you've done, Icethroat. How have you contributed to this clan besides taking Dawnstars orders like a good little warrior?" His tone shifted slightly, he wanted to hear hail's thoughts. Or was hail going to let Dawnstar speak before hailself.

"You want to knit pick the contribution here, so I want to hear what you've done. Or in fact, how you plan to change anything. New deputy, leader, whatever. . . how do you think things will change? Are you here wanting to challenge Dawnstar for her leadership? That's how it's starting to sound! You think you can handle this clan? Because I don't think you'd make it to your first meeting with how you've stayed hidden and complaining already."

Hawkbite shot an understanding look towards Woollyfeather as she drifted away from the group. He couldn't blame her, so he'd stand up for them both.

Rasp over rasp as Larkfire licked at her wounds, attempting to ignore the chaos that'd split before her. It hadn't even been too many minutes since the 'canine patrols' had returned to camp, and had Lark been a lesser cat, her head would have already been pounding with the onslaught of words being directed towards ShadowClan's leader. But thankfully, Lark wasn't a lesser cat, and she'd been trained to blot out idiocies. At this point, she didn't know how much more hurt she needed to endure to... realize the loss that awaited her like a giant, empty chasm.

All in one day. Gone.

Amber hues remained fixated on the cats who kept tossing her name about, whether saying it wrong or right. This argument wasn't about her, or at least, it wasn't supposed to be. They didn't need to bring up her name at all, yes? Was it so much to ask for; to be left alone with her grieving? To not be looked at and pointed out when she had yet to recover from the losses of three cats; Her former mother Dappledleaf, her adoptive brother Daypaw, and.. whatever Darkfall had been. Once he'd been her best friend, once he'd been the cat she'd risen and looked forward to spending the day with, and now he was gone. Like so many others. Like Mirehound, like Shadowfur, like Frostscreech, like Smokepaw, like her own apprentice; Hollowpaw.

Apparently, though, despite all this loss, Larkfire was not allowed a respite. And it made her blood boil with incredulity. What in all the bleeding burning hells did they want from her?

"I'll speak for myself." Larkfire told the clutter of cats, tone cool. She would be undaunted by all these cats, all of those who bothered with flaunting around her attainments as if she'd done it for the sake of their arguments. To bolster their givings? No.

A moment of pause, and then the youngest enforcer angled her chin upward, leveling Icethroat with a chilly look. 'And if this is the way to a higher rank, then I do not want it.' She left that part unsaid. Lark would rather gain a position of her own right than be pushed onto one by others. These cats need not know the offer she'd made Dawnstar in her den. They need not know the new bond she'd retained with her leader. To be completely honest, Larkfire didn't mind in the least that she'd been denied deputyship. She wasn't petty. She wasn't to hold arguments over her leader's denial.

There was a sense of ... contentment in knowing that one had reached their highest point, reached where they'd meant to from the start. If Dawnstar had said Larkfire did not yet belong on the mantle of deputy, then she had no qualms against the words. She would be satiated until that day dawned, placated enough not to grab for what she wasn't meant to.
