Toadpounce made his way to the training island, shaking out his fur from water he collected while swimming earlier. His apprentice, Mistpaw, was almost a warrior and, while he had very little experience mentoring and would most likely spend very little time with her, he wanted to he a good mentor. So, he had called her and brought her to the training island. She needed some training, after all.

Mistpaw was already on the island, her fur not very wet because she had been bouncing around and running like Snakehearts Goose, "So what we doing??", she asked excitedly. She was a bit nervous because she hasn't has her own mentor before, she mostly trained with her friends mentors or by herself but she forced herself to be optimistic.

She thought about this before answering "A little bit, plus I've fought in a border squirmish or two".

She nodded, considering her strengths and weaknesses. They were roughly the same size but he was likely to be stronger, she would have to use her speed to her defense. She circled him wearing unsure if she should attack first or if he would. She carefully flicked her gaze to his front paw, looking as if she would strike it but at the last second day she charged and tried to swamp his muzzle.

Toadpounce, while not much in the way of a fighter, was a decent fighter, if he said so himself. So, when he saw Mistpaw circle and eye him, he was prepared to rear back the moment she moved. And good thing, too, because she changed targets from his front paw to his muzzle, and rearing successfully helped him avoid the blow. He then rushed forward, intent on kicking her legs out from under her.

She looked at his gaze, thinking if she should assume he'd use the same tactic she did, she decided to play it safe by rolling over, she stood up, dizzy for a few seconds as she tried to regain balance.

She paused, actually having to think hard about this "What about some advanced moves? The most I can do is get a enemy off me or scrape at them".

"It's relatively simple," Toadpounce said. "You get on your side, slide under the opponent, slash at their belly, then roll out before they can attack back."

She crouched down pretending she dodged a blow and tucked under him aiming towards his stomach, it would've been easier if Toadpounce was bigger then her, but Mistpaw tried anyways. When she finished she added "This is probably good for smaller cats like us", she meowed excitedly. "We can use our size and speed to our advantage!" She repeated the move, faster this time before turning to her mentor. She turned her head to the side, twitching her tail "How'd I do?"

"Very well," Toadpounce said with a smile. "Yes, it is a good move for us smaller cats, as is the leap and hold. How about we try something advanced, like the jump and pin?"

Barkfuzz led the way to the training island as he and Amberpaw made journeyed for a session. He was still feeling a little down about being yelled at by Lionstorm, but he tried not to let it get in the way of his mood - after all he was excited to start training. He couldn't help, though, that his pawsteps were less energetic than usual.

Once he and Amberpaw arrived he moved to stand in front of her. "Alright Amberpaw," he said enthusiastically and with a small smile. "You were an apprentice before I was assigned as your mentor so tell me: Did your previous mentor teach you anything? Or do we start from square one?" It was clear he didn't mind either way, he just wanted to know where he needed to begin.

She shrugged. “He didn’t teach me much, but I know the basics. I’m pretty good at hunting, but fighting could use some work”. She didn’t really want to fight any cat, but she supposed it might be necessary.

Between organizing patrols and meeting with WindClan, Kestrelwing felt both exhausted and alive. He was glad that his home seemed to be thriving once again, despite the loss of Sootflare and Stormcall. But stars he just wanted to rest his paws. But nope. Nightpaw had sought him out to ask for a training session. He'd been hesitant at first - after all, she'd ignored his late attempt to gather for one.

"I am doing the duty of a warrior," he stated rather simply, giving a flick of his ear and not looking in Nightpaw's direction as they neared the training island. "If you really want it, you'll show up to training sessions when I seek you out for them." The gray tabby stopped and turned to his apprentice. There would be no more said on the subject, at least for now.

"We need to focus on hunting. Fishing, to be exact." Motioning with his tail Kestrelwing walked to the edge of the island and crouched beside the bank while he waited for Nightpaw to join him.
