Ghostkit nodded and started padding to the fresh-kill pile. It was a little hard to see in the darkness, but xyr eyes were starting to adjust. Having the moonlight made it a little easier, two. Ghostkit nosed through the fresh-kill pile. Now that spring was starting to come around, there were a lot more leftovers at the end of the day. Ghostkit found a small clam and pulled it out from under a mountain of fish. Well, for xem it was a mountain.

Lilykit looked up at the pile. She wasn't too hungry, but she grabbed a couple minnows. If she ever had kits, she would name one Minnowkit and one Troutkit. But she wouldn't eat them, because that wouldn't be very good. She gulped the small fish down quickly and then sat down, looking at the moon- again.

Bonekit pried the clam open between xyr small jaws and tiny paws. When it snapped open, Bonekit let it sit on the ground with the shells as a sort of plate. Xe took a bite of the creamy meat on one of the shells. Xe glanced at Lilykit and then at the other shell piece before pawing it towards her.
You should try some...

She tore her gaze away from the moon. "Thanks." She said softly, leaning forward and lapped up soem of it. It was a little like milk. Meaty milk. Okay, that sounded gross, but it was the correct description. It was good, like trout only more liquidy, thicker than water.

When xe was done, xe licked the excess off of the shell and then flipped it over. The clamshell sparkled with shades of light blue and purple in the moonlight, with a hint of pink shining around the edges.

"It's beautiful..." Lilykit whispered, eyes glistening. She quickly blinked whatever mushy feeling away, but that shell reminded her... of something. If she couldn't immediately remember it then it must not be too important.

Xe always had an empty feeling inside. Talking to other cats sometimes made that feeling go away, but it always came back once xe was alone again. Sure, xe could just start socializing more, but that was hard! Xe could never find any cats like xem.
I wonder if my siblings would have been like me...
Xe wondered aloud, xyr mind wandering to when Deerwing told xem about xyr siblings that never had a chance. It was Frostkit, Soulkit, and uh... who was the last one? Phantom? Ghostkit wondered why xyr stillborn sister had been given a name like that, while xyr brothers all had normal clan names.
