Frostfeather padded into the training clearing, eyes gleaming. She was in a good mood as today she was planning on teaching Yellowpaw swimming! This had been her favorite thing to learn and master when she was an apprentice and she couldn’t wait to see Yellowpaw enjoy it as well. She settled by the river bank and wrapped her tail around her feet, waiting for Yellowpaw to appear. @Oakpaw1 |

“Hello Yellowpaw. Today we are going to be swimming. Have you ever had any prior experience ,” she asked, her tail whipping behind her in excitement. Calm down she told herself, you’re the mentor, not the apprentice. Forcing herself to have a bit more stern look she nodded towards the river. Her plan for the day was simple. First she was going to test Yellowpaw’s general swimming skills, then they would practice diving, and if Yellopaw had any energy left, maybe they would have time for a few water battle moves. Frostfeather flicked her ear in thought. Battle training would be helpful, especially since the tensions with Thunderclan were especially high |

Completely oblivious to Yellowpaw’s dark intentions Frostfeather gleamed down at her. “No worries!” she chirped as she started wading into the waters. “We’ll start with a simple swim then.” The silver she cat wadded up until the water reached her shoulders. Turning towards her apprentice she motioned her to follow Frostfeather into the water. “The first thing we want to focus on is simply floating. Once you reach me try lifting your paws off the riverbed. You’ll feel yourself sink a little bit, but don’t worry that’s normal. Let the river carry you a bit and then place your paws back down. This is just to get you comfortable with the pull of the water. Go ahead, give it a try.” |

Frostfeather let put an amused purr. “The water is normal Yellowpaw. Try that again but now paddle your paws back and forward. You should be able to see that it helps you keep your head above water.” She lifted her paw out of the river and showed it to Sunpaw. “Riverclan cats usually have larger paws than most clan cats, this lets us pull more water and propel ourselves better while swimming. Not to mention it helps us deliver better blows to our enemies. When you try paddling spread your toes out, this will create a larger surface aka letting you pull more water with your motions.” |

Frostfeather was watching with pride up until Yellowpaw started getting close to the Thunderclan border. “Yellowpaw get back! That’s Windclan territory!” She yowled. This was not okay, tensions were already strained with one other clan and leaving a Riverclan scent in Windclan borders would not be a good look. She watched the undergrowth on the other side in unease praying to Starclan that no one was patrolling the borders at this time. “Hurry up!” She hissed in a panic. |

Frostfeather lashed her tail in frustration as she swam to the Riverclan side of the river. Turning back to her apprentice her pelt bristled. “Yellowpaw what were you thinking?! Why did you ignore me when I yelled at you?! Your old enough to know better! Tensions around boarders are high enough, we cannot be reckless like that. Your lucky that a patrol wasn’t around at the time.” She shook her head, disappointed with the actions of the younger cat. “You may keep your mouse but we’ll have to inform Krestrelstar star about this. I don’t want any Riverclan warrior coming over and demanding what we were doing on their territory.” Shaking out her pelt she sat down, waiting for Yellowpaw to explain herself. |

Frostfeather blinked in surprise, she wasn’t expecting an outburst from Yellowpaw. She wasn’t really one for confrontation so she was a little taken aback, at loss of words on how to respond. Shifting her paws in an uncomfortable manner she fixed her gaze on Yellowpaw. “Yellowpaw, I am not the one you should be directing your anger at. As your mentor it’s my job to protect you, but I can’t do that if you don’t listen to me. Your safety and health is important to me and if something happened to you I wouldn’t be able to forgive myself. We have to tell Krestrelstar about it not because I want to punish you but because we need to put clan safety first.” Her gaze softened. “Your swimming was good and your small display of a hunt was impressive, however I really need you to try to listen to me. An apprentice turns into a warrior by following their mentors guidance, to be a good warrior you must first be a good listener.” |

Frostfeather let out a sigh. "Okay why don't we get back to the training. Lets do one more thing before we finish for today. " She padded up to the riverbank and entered the lake up until the water was just barley to her stomach. Turning back to look at Yellowpaw she smiled. "We are going to dive." With that she did a half crouch and then leaped into the air, her paws extended infront of her. She kept her body in line, head down and tail pressed against her extended hindlegs as she hit the water. Coming back for air she turned back and waded towards her apprentice. "Make sure your jump is directed upwards rather than downwards. You dont want to hit yourself on the lakefloor." |

Frostfeather twitched her ear good heartedly. "Alright, you may. Your dive was good but remember to try to dive with the intent of entering the water in one spot. That was you'll make less noise entering the water and scare less fish away," she teased. She padded out of the water and settled on the banks, watching her apprentice eat. |

Re: RiverClan Training Island
Frostfeather padded onto the training island and stopped for a stretch. Placing her paws infront of her she arched down and released a grunt. Today was going to be an interesting experience as she was going to be training both Yellowpaw and Amberpaw. Flicking her tail she padded up to the waters edge and waited for both apprentices to appear. As she waited her mind drifted to the special training event. She thought back to hearing Yellowpaw telling another warrior that they would be a better mentor than her. She looked down at her paws as her heart stung; she thought she had been exceptionally patient and kind towards Yellowpaw but clearly the younger she cat paid it no mind. Giving her head a shake to remove those thoughts she looked back up, her eyes determined. She hoped that Yellowpaw would behave herself today around Amberpaw, but even if she didn’t she could handle it. Today she wanted to go over jumps with the intention on working how to battle against Windclan cats. @Oakpaw1 @Sklee |

“Hello Amberpaw,” Frostfeather greeted with a smile. She gazed behind her hoping to see Yellowpaw. .“Today we will be discussing the best techniques to use against Windclan. Windclan cats focus on their speed as their main power behind an attack, as well as jumps, so we will be going over both the best defensive and offensive moves. Let’s wait a bit for Yellowpaw before we begin. In the mean time, Amberpaw can you remind me what you have already covered from this topic? I want to make sure I’m not retraining anything.” Frostfeather sat down and wrapped her tail over her paws. Her eyes darting behind Amberpaw every so often, searching the weeds for an outline of Yellowpaw @Oakpaw1 |

Frostfeather blinked in acknowledgement. With one final glance behind Amberpaw she sighted. It seemed that Yellowpaw wasn’t coming. “Alright I think we have waited long enough, let’s begin.” She moved towards a drier patch and sat down. “Windclan likes to use a charging bounce. They come at you fast and then jump, hoping they can land on your back and then shred it. In order to avoid that fate we like to watch their feet. The minute their hind legs come together at the run you know they are about to bounce. Once you spot that you have two options. The first is that you can try to jump to the side and then use your hind legs to try to kick them. For this to work you have to time your avoiding jump and attempt to measure the jump to not be too far away, otherwise kicking back will have no affect. The other is more risky but if done properly it is more powerful. You must twist to your back and then use your legs to push them off, fly them over your head. You must keep your legs together as to not expose your stomach. Now which of these would you like to try first?” |

Frostfeather nodded as she moved in front of the apprentice. “Right then, to begin I want to to assume a normal stance.” She posed, her legs slightly bent and her shoulders squared. “Next you will drop one shoulder and roll under yourself so that you won’t be facing your opponent back wards.” Frostfeather ducked and rolled, coming to her back with her legs bent together. “Keep your legs tight and keep them tensed. Once you see your attacker coming down on you you push up with your legs and flip them over.” She demonstrated an upward push, her legs throwing off an imaginary warrior. Rolling back to her paws she gave herself a shake and turned back to Amberpaw. “Alright give it a go. Let’s practice getting into position in a fluid motion.” |

“That was an excellent first try Amberpaw,” Frostfeather praised, “your roll was indeed a bit shaky but you recovered well. Let’s try that again but this time when you roll drop your head with your shoulder, it’ll make your movement easier to do and smoother. As for your kick this time unsheathe your claws so you can get a feel of what it will feel like.” Just as she finished her words Yellowpaw stepped into the clearing. Frostfeather greeted her with a warm blink and nodded for her to join Amberpaw infront of her. “Glad you could make it Yellowpaw; we are discussing Windclan counter attacks. Currently we are working on a roll kick. You may watch Amberpaw as she attempts it again and then give it a try. Just to catch you up this move is valuable to us because it allows for a way to throw off a jumping attack by a Windclan warrior, especially since these types of attacks are common. “ Frostfeather nodded to Amberpaw. “You may begin.” @Oakpaw1 |

Good job Amberpaw!” She turned to Yellowpaw and gave a smile. “Alright Yellowpaw, assume a normal stance and then drop one shoulder and roll under yourself. Keep your legs tight and tensed. Once you see your attacker coming down on you you push up with your legs and flip them over, just as Amberpaw demonstrated. You may begin.” @Oakpaw1 |

“Don’t say that, clearly you’re still feeling a little sick. Let’s try that again and this time why don’t you just practice going from a stance to the roll. Keep your legs close together and try not to lean too much into the side your going to drop your shoulder too before you start a roll.” She flicker her ear as she looked over Yellowpaw, the apprentice did look quite tired. “If you still feel ill, feel free to simply watch for today and try to point out where you can see room for improvement in Amberpaws demonstration.” She glanced up at Amberpaw. “After Yellowpaw tries again and if she feels up to it I’d ideally like you two to try the moves against each other. If Yellowpaw wants to sit out for today, Amberpaw I will try to attack you and you’ll use the move on me.” @Sklee |

Frostfeather let Yellowpaw think over her offer a bit more. “While you think Yellowpaw, Amberpaw why don’t we try out the move. After a few seconds of readjusting her paws she shot forward and leaped, her paws outstretched as she aimed at Amberpaws back. @Oakpaw1 |
