Sorreltuft couldn't take his eyes off the magnificent bundles, his eyes wide with awe. He was silent for a few moments, taking in the sight of his son and daughters. He studied Olivekit first, curled warmly at Silverear's side The small kit had Silverear's ginger patches and gray pelt, with hints of Sorreltuft's brown fur. He looked over at Ivorykit, also curled at Silverear's belly. Ivorykit had her mother's gray pelt, as silver as the moon's light. Meanwhile, Muddykit may as well be an exact replica of Sorreltuft, reminding the older warrior that it would be difficult to play the young tom-kit off as not his. It wasn't that he didn't want to claim the kits as his own, but he couldn't. He didn't need anyone to know that he fathered kits that weren't Everwhisper's. It would destroy everything, including the lives of the kits before him.

His soft smile turned into a displeased frown as he seemed to finally realize that he could not claim these gorgeous kits as his own. Sorreltuft looked down at Silverear, regret flooding his eyes as meowed, ``We - I can't - nobody can know these kits are mine. I mean, believe me when I say I truly love these kits, and I'd love to claim them as ours, but we just can't.`` He sadly narrowed his eyes, shaking his head discreetly in disappointment. ``And I need you to know, I'm keeping us, our family, a secret for you and our kits. I'm doing this for you and our kits, okay?``

``I - With Everwhisper so clingy, I may not be able to check in with you much. But I promise you, I will do my best to see you frequently, and I will look after our kits - even if its from a distance. And I,`` Sorreltuft sighed, gazing down at his kits with so much love and admiration. ``I really don't want to do this. But I don't know if we'll ever be able to reveal I'm their father. And I'm begging you - do not tell them I am their father, please. This is for them - I'm making these decisions for their benefit.`` He gazed at Silverear, his eyes silently begging her to respect his decision.

"Sorreltuft...it will be okay. I can see how much you already care for the kittens with them only being newborns." She said softly, her voice gentle and caring. The tom was right, it would tear up each of their lives if anyone knew. "No one knows who their father is beside you and I. I won't tell them what cat is their father...there are some other toms in Shadowclan that look a bit similar to one of the kits or the other." The queen continued her gaze meeting with the tom. Silverear flicked the end of her silver tail, smiling lightly. "I won't tell them, I promise. I promise...so we can protect our kits." She mewed. Silverear shifted her weight to where she was in a more comfortable position.

The silver calico queen licked her chest fur before flicking her gaze over the kits. "Don't upset Everwhisper. The kits will grow up just fine...I'll make sure of that......Just...just make sure you still watch them as they grow into warriors." Silverear mewed, emotion flooding into her voice for a little bit. It saddened her she couldn't tell the kits who exactly their father was, but at least she could tell them he is Shadowclan. That he is a strong warrior and is watching them. Maybe they would think he died, or maybe suspect someone. None of her friends knew, in fact, many were shocked she had even been expecting. "My friends were very surprised I was even expecting...I am positive the clan...well Riverclan and Shadowclan for know, both think I didn't even know until I had to move to the nursery." She whispered, barely audible. The molly laid her head on her paws, eyes trailing on Sorreltuft's face.

He crowed, full of dismay. Twilightkit always found some type of way to ruin his fun, and not to mention that his own father had ruined his fun as well when he stopped him from pouncing on the silver pelted she kit. Both of his sisters had hopped up to see Honeythistle, and being the life of the party, Nightfallkit followed along. When Honeythistle settled himself down, being almost winded by his little kits, he let out a purr full of mirth. The large tom bent down his head to give Twilightkit a couple licks around her ears before he did the same to Eveningkit. Nightfallkit was different. Instead, he bounded behind his father, wanting to attack his tail. Honeythistle looked back at his son with a slight roll of his eyes, he walked further into the nursery, perching himself down to be around his kits.

The father swished his tail to keep Nightfallkit at bay since the younger tom was always full of energetic energy.
Of course, inherited from his father. All his sons seemed to have developed that troublemaking side from him. Only Honeythistle was baffled as he was a sweet one as a kit. His troublemaking days started as an apprentice. But, his sons picked up on their troublemaking early. At least his daughters were obedient little ones. Well, some of them at was. As the tom looked at his small precious daughters, he purred in delight. "How are my little she kits? I hope you two are being good." Throwing his head back, he chuckled lowly. "At least, better than your brother." Honeythistle picked up the speed of his tail, swishing it back and forth. That didn't deter Nightfallkit however. He was enjoying the challenge.

Twilighkit tried to return the stare, though she ended up looking more awkward trying to be threatening. She wasn't scared of him...right? I mean, she wasn't as tall, but there was only a small difference. "I-I know but...still." She mumbled, her tongue not able to say the words powerfully. Stupid shyness. She swallowed, but returned her gaze to her father. He was one of the cats she aspired to be like, her mother too. They were awesome cats, from her small, innocent eyes. Twilightkit smiled up at her father, he looked powerful. So very powerful. Twilightkit felt a tug, almost like it wasn't right for her to think of being that powerful herself, but she ignored it. Twilightkit purred and smiled up at him, happiness mingling with the glow of fear in her eyes, her speckled pelt fluffed out instead of its usual neatness. She watched Nightfallkit, giving a teeny sigh, but deciding not to focus on him. Why did he have to be so...rebellious? Yeah, that was a good word for it. She followed her father, trying to matchis strides but falling short because of her little nubby legs.

She watched Nightfallkit with her fathers tail, wondering how he had so much energy in his little body. It was weird to her. Though, her father seemed to be as energetic. But he was big, and strong, and a warrior the word stuck in her throat, as if she was unable to muster it. She didn't know what her father was like before she was born, obviously, but maybe he was as troublemaking? She herself was a sweet little kit, quiet and obedient. She barely spoke to anyone outside of her family, truthfully, due to the fear they wouldn't like her. "Good! I am, Nightfallkit's making trouble. So at least we know he's not sick." She mewed, giving a little smile. She giggled, despite clamming up around anyone, she was quite open with her siblings and parents. Her fathers family, however, kind of scared her. Some of it, anyways. "Honeythistle, why'd we have to come here instead of staying in ShadowClan?"

Harekit wriggled free of his mother's grasp, being careful not to make any noise, and went to where he felt warmth. He inched closer and closer to it, not realizing it was the den entrance. He placed his paw outside, felling heavy thumps in the ground. His eyelids shut, frightened, he let out a small squeak. He willed himself to be brave, about to step out.

{Sorry about the wait. Writers Block and I had to watch a show with my parents.}

Streamkit hid in the soft folds of her nest, chuckling slightly. I'll get him this time. The she-kit narrowed her eyes in concentration, waiting for her target to pass by. Hopefully the small molly wouldn't be seen. That would ruin the surprise.
For a moment, Streamkit hesitated. Should I really be scaring my friend? But she shook it off. That's what friends do. So she settled in to wait.

A handsome, copper and black kit bounded into the nursery, his eyes sparkling with excitement. He was always ready to play. Copperkit's expression changed when he saw kits just sitting around doing - well - nothing! That was the trouble, they weren't moving or getting excited or anything! They were just... sitting there. A frown came onto the tom's maw as he approached one of them - one who was sitting away from the rest. At least some of the kits were sitting together, it was good that they had friends, but this one? He was alone. And didn't look too happy with the world around him right now. What was the matter with this kit? "Hey bud, everything alright in your world?" The tom asked, a smile coming onto his maw as he spoke. It was as though nothing could ever bring Copperkit down. And perhaps,
it couldn't. @Charmer

Perchkit jumped at the sound of another kit's voice and twirled in the air with a surprised squeak. "Uh me? Y-yes, I'm fine!" The little dark grey tom answered suddenly, "M-my brother and sister are outside playing." He answered simply. Shardkit, his sister, took every opportunity to play with grown cats, no matter how big they were, and Rainkit was confident and brace, but Perchkit for everything outside too big, too loud, and too scary. At less than a moon old, he didnt see how the world could be anything else.

Rojokit sat in the nursery, tail curled around his paws. I wonder if someone died today. The tom, for once had the ability to sit alone and think about everything bad that could happen. His brother, Amarillokit, was his best friend, yet rival. You see, his brother was so upbeat and positive it was creepy. Rojokit said that you needed to have a negative outlook every now and then. But that was so he didn't insult cats. He was negative all the time. I wonder if they were stupid... or worse yet, positive?! The red tom had a fear of positivism. Joy. Happiness. Optimism-YUK! It disgusted the tom so much he might as well destroy everything positive. However, that would mean destroying his brother. He loved his brother, even if he was stupidly positive. Oh, of course the tom had a reason to be negative. If you were positive you ran into things without thinking. You were stupid. It was agitating. Rojokit hated it. Fluffing up his dark red fur he was named for, the tom padded along through the nursery.

She whispered, barely audible. The molly laid her head on her paws, eyes trailing on Sorreltuft's face.

Though Sorreltuft felt rather jealous that another tomcat would pose as his own kits' father, he knew it would be for the best. He watched Silverear rest her head on her paws, gazing at him softly. He couldn't help but think of how his life would've been if he had chosen Silverear as his mate rather than Everwhisper. He knew he most definitely wouldn't of chosen to hide his identity if he had remained at Silverear's side, and he most likely would've been much happier with her. But he knew it would never happen - he didn't feel that way for her; he loved someone else, someone who he hadn't involved in this drama. Besides, his gentleman nature refused to let him leave Everwhisper.

He continued to gaze into Silverear's eyes, regret flooding him. Sorreltuft nodded slowly, his eyes narrowed slightly with sorrow. He found himself looking away from her, cautiously glancing over at the nursery opening to assure himself that Everwhisper was not walking through. Plus, he was unable to continue looking at the feline. He always convinced himself it was his fault his flings were now forced to care for his kits while he watched from a distance - which it technically was, but he was unwilling to tell himself it took two to start a family. But if he hadn't been so... so mouse-brained, perhaps he'd never of drawn Silverear into this situation. Sorreltuft carried a lot of guilt with him, as well as responsibility.

Looking back at Silverear, Sorreltuft decided to voice his thoughts. ``Sometimes, I wonder what our lives would've been like if I'd chosen you rather than Everwhisper,`` Sorreltuft murmured softly, allowing silence to engulf him as he continued to daydream. ``I wonder what our lives would've been like if I hadn't been such a mouse-brain, dragging you, Summittail, and Everwhisper into this mess.`` He glanced at his paws, growling lightly at himself. Emotions began to overpower him; sadness, anger, confusion, self-pity, and so much more. ``I have to go,`` Sorreltuft meowed quickly, allowing himself to press his nose to Silverear's forehead in farewell before rushing from the den. He was leaving his kits and Silverear behind, the possibility that he may never properly interact with them again running through his mind.

All bouncy and happy and excited. He was glad to play with this other cat, as long as the other cat was willing to play with him. After all, sometimes Copperkit was a little too much for the other cats.

"P-play?" Perchkit responded quizzically. He hesitated at first, but then considered the fact that this other cat didn't look big and scary. They were about the same size. "Sure," he said, trying to hide his nervousness. "I'm P-Perchkit," he stammered. "What should we p-play?"

(I actually didn't notice the stammer until you commented on it, but I think now I'm gonna roll with it. I'll have it cured as he gets older and more confident.)
