Rotpaw rolls his eyes. “I’ll be grumpy all I want, I’m not hurting anyone,” he says to Gutspaw. His frown gives way a little grin near the end, betraying that he isn’t being all too serious.

He watches Goopypaw create a snowcat as well- and immediately get stuck. Rotpaw sighs and stands, stretching his legs as he does. They lean over to inspect the snow ball Goopypaw is attached to.

Rotpaw opens his mouth to explain he’s gonna destroy the snow ball, but pauses. Or, they could have some fun…

Stop flailing around, I’m gonna break the snowball to get your paws unstuck.” Rotpaw side eyes Bilepaw, and once he lines himself up, he pounces onto the ball, crushing it under his own paws. The ball cracks and becomes a pile of snow once more.

Rotpaw decided he isn’t going to make fun of someone for something that they can’t exactly control. It’s unimaginative. If anything, Rotpaw should make fun of Goopypaw for thinking their toe beans were going to freeze off. But he stays silent for now.

"Thanks for lending some help!" she mewed, pulling a face as she pushed the snow towards the entrance. "I can't wait till it's actually snowing, and not just turning to sludge. At least then we can have some fun with it too, and not just clear it out of camp before it makes the whole place soggy."

"yeah! its been so long since we got real snow!" he replied, pushing the snow a bit more enthusiastically at the thought of actual snow. he entertained the thought of playing in the snow with the other cats for a bit longer while cleaning the progressively more and more sludgy snow out of camp. he was glad he had left camp very early this morning and the snow hadnt started to melt until after he came back.

As Larkfire went into detail about what happened at the border to cause such a tragedy, Dawnstar couldn't help but feel like she was withholding, but at the moment decided to leave it alone. Her blood boiled at ThunderClan once again purposely going out of their way to vex Dawnstar. At this point, it just felt personal. Both her daughters, both medicine cats, one dead, and now the other blind, for no reason!

A loud, furious, hiss left the larger she-cat's maw as Larkfire announced her new name. Wolverine gifted it to her. While Dawnstar was genuinely troubled by the fact that her grandfather was running around visiting Dawnstar's kits and not her, she was more livid that he just assumed that he could rename Dawnstar's daughter.

The temperamental leader chose to ignore Shadowpaw as she commented on Wolverine and StarClan. As tyrannical as cats called Dawnstar, she didn't make every cat in her clan follow her own beliefs.

Dawnstar's outrage at the name change came and went like a gust of air. It wasn't hard to tell that the cat in front of her had lost the fire for which she was named. That passion and strength that had placed her among Dawnstar's elites at such a young age had dwindled. At this rate, Dawnstar was expecting it. All of those she took in as her kits seemed to lose what drew Dawnstar to them in the first place over time, that's if they die first. Vixensnarl, Badgerfang, Redshrike, and so on.

It would have been disappointing if it wasn't expected, it was a never-ending cycle. Although, unlike the others, at least Lostspark remained. Maybe she'd find her fire again, or burn anew with time, a spark could grow. She couldn't be that broken if Wolverine decided that she was worth an ounce of his time. It all depended on Lostspark.

"Lostspark," Dawnstar tested the new name on her tongue. "I despise how easily and willing you are to toss away the name I gifted you." Was that a tinge of hurt in her tone?!!! "But if you already accept it, you can keep it," Dawnstar growled, unhappily acknowledging the medicine cat's choice. "Do you know who attacked you?" They might be dead, but Dawnstar would like a name or description to toss at ThunderClan when they start to wonder why Dawnstar was being hostile again.

"ThunderClan will need to be dealt with for their unwarranted transgressions against ShadowClan, again. This time more severely." Dawnstar glanced in Hawkbite's direction as the commander started taking Starrywisp's body away.

"Go with Darkfall, Lostspark, and rest in the medicine den. You can explain to me later as to why you and Starrywisp were by the ThunderClan border later." Dawnstar ordered once she got her answer from Lostspark.

There it was. She had known. Had known this would happen, had expected it to pass. She'd foolishly thought she'd braced for it. And yet, Lostspark couldn't ignore the vicious stab of pain delivered to her heart at Dawnstar's angry hiss. The bitterness on her mother's tone in the words that followed was not lost on .. Lostspark (pun very unintentional), but she ignored it. What could she say, anyway? She'd already accepted the name, unaware that she couldn't not accept it.

"It was a white cat. Male." Lostspark cleared her throat, hating the roughness to it. "One yellow eye, one blue." Her teeth gnashed together. She couldn't exactly say his name had been Tross, or whatever Starrywisp had called him, without stumbling over her own lies. Was this her path in life now? As a liar? She was fairly certain she'd already dug her own grave. All she needed to do now was walk into it.

But not today. When she walked into that grave, it'd be for something worth remembering.

So when Dawnstar gave her a reason to retire, the Medicine Cat took it without question, turning on her heel to stride out of the clearing and disappear into her den (admittedly, she did have to halt in front of her den and reach out a paw to make sure she wasn't about to run into a wall of brambles before continuing) without bothering to wait for her mate. She hadn't needed an escort so far. Better not trample on the remains of her dignity and ruin this too.

[ @Dark - Darkfall | Was waiting for Dark but just decided to wrap this up w/ a Lostspark's reply. :heartbounce: ]

Smiling fondly, the molly grabbed a ball of moss from a corner and dropped it at her paws. "Alright! Since we're Shadowclan cats, we are stealthy and fast. For this game, we need to keep the moss ball in the air for as long as we can. But, we have to do it silently and not disturb anything. Is that too hard?" Dreamingbloom explained, adding in the question at the end to make sure this wasn't too complicated for the kit.

Petalcrash

The pretty tortie point sat in the clearing, slumped backwards as she watched with sharp blue eyes as their beloved medicine cat slinked to the medicine den. Lostspark. What a horrifically embarrassing name. What the hell kind of cat allowed some... crusty old dead guy to rename them? Literally just... don't call yourself that? But perhaps the name was fitting. ShadowClan's most elite had turned into ShadowClan's most depressing. Not to mention she was pregnant as hell, Petal presumed that there were at least 43 kits in there. The warrior decided to stay far away from the gray medic in the future, as if wimpiness, pregnancy and committed relationships was contagious. No thanks, she would have to pass.

Petalcrash watched as the cat left, her eyes turning to Lostspark's mate and mother who still lingered, the slightest hint of interest in her sapphire gaze fading away as she turned to observe something else now that the main subject of her entertainment had fled to her den. Lucky girl, Petal would actually punt a kitten for the chance to have her own den- even for just a night. Actually, she'd do a lot more than kick a kitten, but she wasn't willing to explore that part of her mind- there wasn't enough time.

Sitting up a bit straighter and flicking a piece of moss from her fur with a disgusted grunt, she cast her gaze around to either look for any more entertainment or anyone interesting- or, to be completely transparent- anyone attractive enough for her to spend her afternoon chatting with. Her face darkened with disappointment as she could only see a few bland creatures and a group of four rather icky apprentices- whom she quickly dubbed the Nasties- and none of those cats were worth her time. Oh well.

Batflight nodded enthusiastically. "Right? It might be bad for the fresh-kill pile, but it's lots of fun to play in!" she mewed, pushing the last of the snow-turned-sludge out. She grimaced at how wet her front legs were left, giving them a shake before starting to groom.

Sweetbriar was bored. Boooringgg, the whole Clan was. So when she spotted a particularly beautiful she-cat (what? whosaidthat?), obviously Sweetbriar had to gravitate towards them. Pasting an amiable grin on her face, Sweetbriar sat herself down beside the pretty molly without further preamble.

"Hello, darling." A curling of the tail over her own paws. "Aren't you a sight for sore eyes." She purred, tipping her head back to look at the sun. And, well, instead her gaze landed on Lostspark's retreating figure. Ah, yes, that. "A bit anticlimactic, if you ask me. We all accept her name, then? Feels more like a spit to the face, anyway." Sweetbriar shuddered dramatically. "Good thing I'm not a part of that family, nor do I ever wish to be." She wrinkled her muzzle.

Luckily for Petalcrash, a very pretty pelt caught her eye and she turned her eyes slightly, ears growing a bit more perked with interest. Brown rimmed eyes, well groomed fur and a lovely patterned pelt, it was easy to let her interest be captured by the other cat, and Petalcrash wasn't modest enough to believe that the interest wasn't shared. Cerulean gaze glimmered slightly as Sweetbriar sat beside her, and Petal was ultimately a bit more pleased with how this afternoon was turning out. What better way of spending her time than chatting (and talking crap on authority figures) with an interesting, pretty cat?

"I'd have to say the same about you, love." She responded, raising her eyes briefly to copy Sweetbriar's movements. Mirroring, she had discovered early on, was a foolproof way to garner someone's attention and interest, and while she wasn't really looking to be that impressive, it was a habit by now and she couldn't really... not do it- unless she purposefully forced herself to not do it. But out of all of her habits and faults, it was one of her more favorable ones, so she wasn't looking to break this habit anytime soon.

"It certainly is. Quite the fall from grace, especially since her new name was given by some... dead guy. But maybe the name change was fitting, the way she's reacted to it all." Lostspark. But if a name change was the best punishment their ancestors could come up with, perhaps Petalcrash could be a little more free with her problematic behavior. If some dead grandpa tried to punish her with a name change? Literally whatever?? Like that didn't mean she had to listen. And even if everyone else called her that name, it wouldn't matter. It was literally just a name.

Snorting softly, she felt a smile curl onto her face, tipping her head to the side unconsciously. "You and me both." If being accepted into that family meant she'd become soft and uninspired, Petal would have to pass. Tempting idea though, that was really a thinker. Lowering her voice a bit but also she didn't really.... care if anyone got offended by it, she was just lowering it enough that Dawnstar couldn't hear. "The social upgrade really isn't worth losing every bit of drive and loyalty." Not that Petal knew anything about loyalty. She'd let anyone and everyone burn if it meant her gain. "Makes you wonder why some cats are so desperate to be accepted into the family." Not really. Considering how many of their Enforcers and higher ranks had been kin of Dawnstar, she wasn't surprised. Everyone thought they were different from the last, when really they were all carbon copies.

Time would tell if their medicine cat was different from her other "siblings", but right now? Petalcrash doubted it. She'd be really torn up about it if she cared.

[ @Rose - hi sorry that petal is a lil chaotic I'm still totally trying to figure her out atm >< ]

Dreamingbloom

Dreamingbloom smiled fondly at her son, flicking her tail as she got ready to play. She swiped her left paw at the moss ball, sending it flying into the air towards Forestkit, but not so high that the kit couldn't hit it back "Come on, you got this!" Dreamingbloom encouraged excitedly.
