Lizardfrost, on pointas always, leaped up into the air, dodging his swipe. She also triad to make this dodge multipurpose as an attack and attempted to land on his back and try to pin him.

Nightpaw watched TigerFire move, her vision started getting blurry a bit but ignored that and narrowed her eyes. As when she seen the right time to attack, she ran and attempted to slash/bat his face

(She likes hitting him in the face for some reason)

Lizardfrost unwound her muscles and relaxed like jelly, dropping all of her weight on her opponent, trying to hold him down and smoosh his face into the dust.

The weight increased on Cricketsting’s back. His muzzle buried itself into the dusty sand, reluctantly eating debris. The only thing that was free from this was one of his front paws -though too busy worrying that he was not sure which front paw. There could be a couple ways to get out of this while using one paw. But in Cricketsting’s mind, he needed to think fast! He slammed his paw to the ground and repeated the motion again and again, yowling words that sounded like “Uncle! Uncle!”

The weight! It is finally gone!

Cricketsting brought his head up from the sand and coughed up some dust. He pulled himself up, glaring at Lizardfrost. The cream warrior forced his fur to lie flat and end his glare, telling himself that it is all part of training. “Good job!” he meowed, a hiss at the end.

Lizardfrost had the social insight of a rock and absolutely could not tell that Cricketsting was salty about this.

"Thank you." she replied, relaxed as ever, and sat down, tail curled around her feet.

The dusty Cricketsting stretched his hindlegs, then arched himself so he could stretch his whole torso. Looking back at a relaxed Lizardfrost, Cricketsting thought of some puns, but he had already done an ice pun with Gingerfrost, and couldn’t find any lizard-related puns at the moment. Groaning at how he lost at sparring and his ability of making jokes, the cream tabby resorted to conversation.

“So,” he started awkwardly, like a kit talking to an elder for the first time. “Why do you want to spar in the first place?” The tomcat knew that practice makes perfect, but rarely had he seen warriors practice fighting with other warriors.

The muscular she-cat was a little disappointed that her spar had been so short. Perhaps she'd require a hardier opponent.

"I presume you were not at the last gathering. Or weren't paying attention. I was challenged to a duel to the death. Naturally, I need to prepare." she responded calmly.

The cream tom’s ears twitched with discomfort, remembering back to Last Gathering. His ears soon flattened themselves to his head in enjoyment as he remembered making jokes with Littlepaw. A smile crept onto his face, but soon disappeared on his maw as he heard Lizardfrost mentioned about a what now?

“A duel to the death?” Cricketsting gasped. He was shocked as he realized that he was preparing his clanmate for a fight that could kill her, but more surprised at the fact that the other warrior was calm while literally talking about a challenge that can kill her. “You know, you don’t have to accept the challenge,” he tried to reason, eyes squinted and sparkled with concern. Was she not worried about the duel at all? Did she have confidence in herself? If so, is it enough to not kill her?

Lizardfrost shook her head. She could not let her clan be dishonored because of cowardice.

"I'm afraid I have to, for my honor and that of RiverClan. I'm not sure about the outcome, but there is nothing I can do but do my best."

(Lmao the duel already happened)

Cricketsting wanted to yowl at the she-cat, telling her that a death duel is not worth keeping honor for both for her and RiverClan. The fact that Lizardfrost even mentioned that the outcome is unknown! She might as well go greet herself to some venomous snakes after her death duel!

At the end though, the cream tom decided against it. As soon as he stopped his arguing energy, his eyes became heavy and his body felt stiff. Nonetheless, his stomach churned. He was fearful that his bold clanmate would get herself killed in the duel. It finally stopped as he started to pad away. “I wish you luck, then…” Cricketsting stopped, his dumb mind wanting to do something. With no tone of silliness, he meowed, “Make sure to stay cool during the duel.” Hating himself for the joke, he walked away.

(lol, ik. I want to give Cricketsting some emotion. Also I read the duel and I love it! :heartbounce: )

I guess the trees are more common than rocks, so I suppose that makes sense... she shrugged slightly and continued to follow Gingerfrost, taking note of his stare. Splinters sound like they cause a lot of trouble... she swallowed and nodded, acknowledging what the warrior had done.

Realizing she got her answer wrong and said it with so much confidence, Littlepaw looked at her paws as a wave of embarrassment hit her, "S-sorry, Gingerfrost... I should've... I- I should've been paying better attention. I promise to try harder!"

Shrinking back, Littlepaw lifted her chin to take in the scents that surrounded Smallpines. It smelled richer, sweeter, with no hints of pine. Pine was way more sour than sweet. That would be easier to remember, but Littlepaw never thought she would forget any of the scents. Now that she was learning what each Clan smelled like, she'd be ready to know what cat belongs to which Clan. When she had fully committed the scent to memory, she looked down to find Gingerfrost was staring at her, looking like he was ready to continue the border tour. Walking forward, she nodded slightly, showing she was prepared to continue. When her mentor began walking again, Littlepaw quickly padded up to walk beside him.

Continuing to walk alongside the shield, she rubbed her scent on a nearby walk, trying her best to copy her mentor. She stopped abruptly when she finished marking the rock and listened to Gingerfrost as he asked her a question.

"I-I'll... I'll try... I've only ever hunted fish, though I have caught a bird once!" her ears perked with happiness and confidence as she remembered catching her bird. That was one of the proudest moments in her life, something she'd never forget how to do. Dropping into her hunter's crouch, she looked to Gingerfrost for approval then moved forward, keeping as stable as possible.

Hearing the bird flapping its wings, she waited to hear which direction it was coming from and faced parallel to the bird's pending flight path. It didn't take long for her to jump out and startle the bird, which appeared to be a robin. The robin only managed to fly slightly higher, but Littlepaw managed to turn around in the air and clip the bird's wing with her outstretched claw. Landing on the ground with a thud in front of the bird, Littlepaw slowly got up, feeling sore due to the lack of bird-hunting experience.

"I got it!" she happily exclaimed and rushed forward to grab her robin and show it off. "I got it, Gingerfrost!"

Carefully watching the apprentice's hunters crouch, Gingerfrost noticed Littlepaw's gaze to which, and about two heartbeats, he gave a nod to signal the go ahead. He didn't see anything specifically wrong with her crouch, so that was already a pass. Now for her hunting technique. It seemed in the end that the older apprentice went after the bird; he admitted that he hadn't yet tried that specific technique on purpose (only when the bird already flew up before catching it) but she looked like she knew what she was doing. So, the shield remained silent and carefully watched until Littlepaw's happy cheers rose up. He still remained silent for a little, unmoving as he went over the past hunt in his mind. Correct pose, successful technique, no injuries, clean catch - he saw no problem, so her hunting was on point. By that he gave a clear single nod to the apprentice, eyes briefly closing in the process. it wasn't audible, but that was his sign of approval and recognition that she indeed caught the bird with little trouble.

"Take it with you; we're heading to our last spot so there's no point burying it."
Gingerfrost meowed as he got up, and signalled for their tour to continue. They weren't that far off, so it was a quick walk to the training island where the tom stopped and turned back to Littlepaw.
"You might've already been here, but this is the training island. Where we learn how to fight."

It seemed her technique for hunting birds worked like a charm, no advice was given to her by the shield, so she guessed he was approving of it. It was hard to tell though, she expected some different types of feedback. With Vinewatcher, she got a smack to the head. With Cricketsting, he was happy. Gingerfrost, in simple terms, was... split down the middle? Littlepaw wasn't entirely sure, but the tom's comment brought all her worries to a halt.

"Thanks, Gingerfrost," Littlepaw nodded solemnly and kept hold of her bird. If it didn't turn into crow food, she would keep it in her nest forever to remind herself that she was a good hunter. Once her mentor had turned and signaled for her to follow, Littlepaw happily pranced beside him until they stopped at the training island. She had only been here once, so it was vaguely familiar.

"I have to admit, I... I-I've never had a battle session that lasted long. I trained with Snowleap here- personally, with other apprentices and warriors present, but it was about a moon or two ago."

//I am so so so sorry for this, but I realized that Littlepaw never had a full-on training experience. She has some, but not a lot, would it be possible to continue with our original plan since Littlepaw won't be a warrior until the second meeting of next month?

Gingerfrost did faintly recall a group training session with a bunch of warrior, much less apprentices, hosted by Snowleap. Chances were that that's what she was talking about, but he didn't inquire on it. If anything, the most notable bit of information was that Littlepaw hadn't yet had a proper battle training session. He would have to fix that soon, but swimming would come first. He gave a nod with his usual "hm" to indicate he heard and understood the young apprentice, before signalling that it was time to head off.
"Drop that on the prey pile once we're back; grab something to eat and get some rest as well"
He meowed as they returned to camp.

Littlepaw watched as Gingerfrost contemplated what she had told him, with the warrior only giving a 'hm' as acknowledgment. After having Gingerfrost give her a tour of the territory, Littlepaw grew to get used to hearing that sound. Guess not many warriors are the talkative type... she huffed, trying her best to contain a little disappointed sigh. At least she'd be able to talk to Nightpaw after her training sessions.

"Okay, Gingerfrost," she acknowledged with a monotone and turned around to head back to camp. Luckily she had a good memory, otherwise, she'd let Gingerfrost take the lead. It wasn't until now she realized that she was very tired, she yawned multiple times, trying her best to not drop the bird in her jaws, before exiting the training island. Her belly was also grumbling, it had been a long day for her. I wonder what Nightpaw's up to...

Re: RiverClan Training Island

Littlepaw happily padded onto the training island, Gingerfrost was with her. It was really odd, this would probably be her last training session. She was eleven moons now, so her assessment would be any day, right? That was highly possible. And she would be a warrior soon, sleeping with her older Clanmates. What was life like being a warrior? Was it like being an apprentice but with more responsibilities? She'd find out for herself soon enough, but first: battle training. Gingerfrost was a good mentor, so Littlepaw knew he wouldn't be harsh. But she knew that there had to be some level of harshness, after all, battles were won with claws and teeth more often than they were with words. No matter the level of harshness, Littlepaw promised herself that she would try.

"I'm ready for today's lesson, Gingerfrost!" she spoke confidently, showing as much excitement she could without looking like she was a small apprentice again. Well... smaller apprentice. "What's first? I'm ready!"

Spinning around, she faced Gingerfrost, looking him in the eyes. She was ready for today's lesson. In fact, she was probably more than ready. The cream she-cat fought to keep herself from imagining Pikestar being the one standing in front of her. It would only cause her to focus only on her warrior ceremony, not the lesson at paw.

@Estelle

It was a bit later in the day, beyond the time mentors usually took out their apprentices. But Gingerfrost had done this intentionally - and not just because he was tired and wanted to sleep a little longer, but also because he wanted Littlepaw to be well rested today. This would essentially be their last training session before her assessment. As far as he knew, Littlepaw had had some battle training before - just not much. He already knew how he was going to go about this, however. Simple and straightforward. The warrior kept an eye on the excited apprentice as she bounded to the training island before him. She looked so excited you'd think she didn't sleep the night before, but no matter. For once the tom wasn't too bothered by how excited the apprentice was as it would only serve her well.

Arriving on the familiar training island, he scanned to area to find not many others training at that moment, good. That would leave the area calm and spacious. Turning his head he found the bounding Littlepaw, declaring her readiness to which he nodded. For once the usually lethargic tom looked just a bit more serious than lazy as he moved a few fox-length's away and faced her. Alright.
"We're going to battle today; No claws, only light biting. Use what you know, your surroundings. Nearly anything can be a move if you use it right."

Lowering into a practiced crouch, he nodded with the usual 'hm' for Littlepaw to go ahead. He knew this wasn't the usual practice, but this way he could best see what she still needed to learn.

Excitement bubbled in Littlepaw's body, but it fizzled out as soon as Gingerfrost dropped into a crouch. Reality hit her, she'd be sparring her mentor. Panic rushed through the older apprentice, would the. shield go easy on her? What was sparring like? She only knew one move that Snowstar taught her when he was Snowleap! The deep breath she took quickly calmed her down though. Gingerfrost was probably going to find out exactly what it was she knew. Well that makes this session so much easier!

Following her mentor's actions, Littlepaw huffed and crouched down. Her goal was not to hurt the tom but to prove to him her knowledge. It should be easier than an actual battle, but how could she know? The cream tabby hasn't participated in a battle in all her moons of training. Rushing forward, Littlepaw turned at the last minute and twisted around to aim a blow to her mentor's nose. It was similar to what Snowstar taught her moons ago and should block the tom's vision temporarily for her to get on his back and try to drag him down to the ground. I can do this, I can do this!

The warrior kept his eyes trained on the apprentice, inspecting her crouch from afar - watching for any movement to attack. He understood her previous surprise, but she might even get surprised by her own abilities through this. He was going to go a little easy on her, but he wouldn't let that show - he wanted Littlepaw to feel like she was in an actual battle, where both parties did what they could to best the other - like this was her assessment. She would barely learn otherwise.

His tail swished over the ground one, two, when it happened. He stubbornly stayed in place, only adjusting his paws, as the older apprentice rushed at him. Pleased with her last minute twist, Gingerfrost let her tap his nose (ouch), right then beginning to turn away from Littlepaw. With said sudden turn, he intended to ram into her with his backside or slap her with his tail if she already pulled back (which in would leave his tail to bitten should she react fast enough); using the momentum of his turn, the moment the cream apprentice would come in sight, the tabby would aim a paw forward, with a rush if necessary, to tap her on the head. Of course, after that he would jump back out of reach. Maybe he wouldn't go that easy on her after all, to begin with. He wanted to really see her try.

Littlepaw purred with satisfaction as she made contact with Gingerfrost's nose. But realizing her mentor was going to hit her with his side, she quickly scooted back and bit onto the closest thing so she could get him on the ground: his tail. Although her bite was soft, she tugged as hard as she could, hoping to drag Gingerfrost down to the ground and pounce on him. It would be the best thing she could do at the moment, given that she is very small compared to the shield.

Fighting was a bit more difficult than she imagined. Nope, scratch that, it was exactly how she imagined. Deciding to put herself into a different mindset, Littlepaw breathed in, closed her eyes, and breathed out. It was quick, she didn't want to be caught off guard. But assuming she was on top of Gingerfrost, she'd try to nip his ears. They were easy to get to and sensitive, that was a good idea, right? She sure hoped so.
