Cliffheart found it hard to listen. How could she be so certain that he wouldn't feel alone, forgotten, betrayed, if she died? There would be a hole in his heart, he was certain, that no one or nothing else could mend. No matter how hard he might try, he knew that's what would happen. He loved her too much for it not to hurt when he lost her. He couldn't loose her, that's why he planned to keep her safe. How can you keep her safe when she too has her own life that she wants to live? He had to try. He had to try to protect her. But trying wasn't enough. He needed to be sure that she stayed safe. He couldn't fail in this. Yes, but one day you'll slip up. One day you're going to loose. One day she will be gone. Then what will you be? What would he be? He would be broken, torn apart, smashed, crushed, depressed. He couldn't live without her. And besides, what would happen to the kits? They needed their mother! They wouldn't be satisfied with just their father, who had never taken time to get to know them. They wouldn't be satisfied with him. He wouldn't be enough for him. As they couldn't be enough for him. "I don't know.... I don't know anymore. I have been a horible Dad. I don't even know if they know I exist. I don't talk with them, I've never played with them. I'm a horrible parent. I'm sure they love their Father, but I don't think they love Cliffheart." he responded miserably. |

[sorry, this is rather short compared to what i try to write!! i have a bit of writer's block pulling me down but i'm ever-so-slowly getting over it] It was relieving to see that Greystep was growing to become more relaxed around Acornflash. With all honesty, he did want to get to know him; and first impressions were indeed important, contrary to what some may believe. At least Acorn hadn't rubbed him the wrong way. Tipping his head backwards and gazing up at the clouds, he meowed in agreement. "They are, aren't they?" He spent a few moments observing the clouds in the sky. Yes, they were rather pretty today. He hadn't ever had the time to gaze up at what looked to be so close, yet still so far away from him. It was odd. He didn't like thinking about it. After an eternity, he piped up again. "It's strange to know that so many other cats are just a horizon away." Of course, he meant the Clans; from what he had heard, the Clans were large, much larger than SkyClan. Maybe he should ask Greystep... ...but then again, Greystep looked very peaceful—well, more peaceful than usual. Grey didHe didn't want to disturb him. What if he had bad experiences at the last Gathering? Then everything would suddenly become awkward, and Acornflash wouldn't know what to do! So he went with asking something else: a question about the future. That could never go wrong. "Are you going to the next Gathering? Splotchfeather wants me to go, so I... I think I'm going, but it'd be cool if you went too!" In retrospect, it seemed like a good way to spark more conversation, but now he wasn't so sure. Greystep could just shoot down his attempt at a new topic with a simple "yes" or a "no", and that would be it. And then there would be an awkward silence. Acornflash hated the uncomfortable pauses in conversation. They bothered him to no end, like a burr stuck in the base of your tail that you can never tug out, or a thorn in your pawpad. Enough similes. At the sound of his name, Acornflash refocused himself on Greystep. "Yes?" he responded quietly so as not to completely interrupt what his acquaintance was saying. He watched him, head tilted ever so slightly to the right, eyes sparkling with curiosity. Once Greystep had finished, Acorn opened his mouth to reply, whiskers twitching in a sort of pattern. "Oh, sure!" he said with a lazy smile. "Nobody's ever invited me to sit with them—thank you." Acornflash didn't put too much weight on the last words he said; they were light, like the clouds Greystep had pointed out earlier. Still, it was obvious that he meant well, his expression radiating sincerity. Although he took a few seconds longer than usual to stand—he had been quite comfortable facing Greystep—he did make his way over to him in the end. Acornflash settled himself down next to him, his tail hovering just over the grey tom's back before grazing him and curling itself over his paws. |
Re: SkyClan Clearing
@Noire [yay duplications xD] Beachkit wandered out of the nursery, his blue gray and tan pelt glimmering in the sun light. He liked to keep his pelt clean. It was also one of the only things that he actuall stopped to do. The little kit loved going around and exploring, questioning. He just loved to meet new cats. Unfortunately he hadn't seen his father around, nor the deputy, nor the leader, all he had been told about them was that the deputy and his father had been at his birthing, but he had never remembered seeing them. He he didn't know what his father looked like, nor could he recall him. He didn't remember what that deputy sounded like. He had seen a glimpse of her, the black pelt the blue eyes. He didn't know her, but apparently his mother did, which, in his opinion was pretty cool. As he was walking out though, he nearly crashed into a tan coated warrior. Or at least that was all he saw when he face planted the legs of the cat. Apologetically he dipped his head. "Uh I'm sorry about that, I'll just get back to looking for my Dad." He muttered quietly. The tan tom emitted a nervous chuckle. This was want he had been coming to do, interact with his kits. Now here one was to meet him. He smiled, looking at the tan coat, like his, but the different blue gray variation. He was even able to catch a quick glimpse of the kits eyes, turning slowly from their dull gray blue kit color to that of a yellow green hue, a combination of his and his mother's eyes. This was his little one. This was one of his little Stars, as Scorchedoetal had declared. He smiled looking down at the kit. He was nervous yes, that he would mess this up. But still he had to try. He had promised himself that he had to get to know his kits.mhe had to get to know them before it was too late. "That's quite alright little one. Say, are you alone out here, or do you have some litter mates accompanying you?" |

A small red she kit twitched her nose. She lifted her head from inside the nursery den, emitting out a yawn. Redkit looked around and only saw two of her brothers...didn't she have three? Her eyes scanned across the room, sleep still prodding at her, but she staggered to her limbs, almost tumbling over, before she shook each leg, and stretched, arching her small back. She could faintly smell the scent of her mother, and her maw opened just a bit, as if she were waiting for the sweet milk that she loved since she was first born. Now, that she was up, the she kit padded around the nursery. She thought about tackling her other brothers, but she was far too worried for where Beachkit went off to. Right? That was the one, right? Redkit glanced around, she caught her brother's fiery pelt. "That's Strikerkit." Then she moved her eyes towards the long-haired tan and grey cat, "That's Sagekit." She announced to herself, feeling quite proud that she got to remember their names. Where was her mother? Redkit twitched her ears once more, and she padded to the entrance of the nursery den. Peering outside, she could feel the warm sun. It glowed on her burnt red pelt, and she feared to take another step out. All the territory she had known came from the nursery. She knew that there was more to Skyclan than just the nursery, and within time she would explore it all. Ahead, her eyes squinted. And through her eyes, she could make out the smooth coat of her tan and grey brother. Instantly, she passed after him, not scared any longer. "Beachkit!" She exclaimed, a gurgling purr emitting from her maw. She reached her brother in a clumsy manner, and stopped once she saw the larger tom. He towered above them, and for a slight moment she felt herself shiver. He was a fellow clan mate, not a stranger. Even though he felt like it compared to her. The she kit tilted her head, feeling her fur shiver under her. He didn't look aggressive, and as she took a whiff of him in, she remembered his scent. It was familiar--very familiar, and at noticing this, her bristling fur, calmed. Unlike her brothers, Redkit was more on the shy type. She pressed into her brother, trying to find some type of comfort as she stared at the other tom. No words escaped her maw, but her ears stayed alert and she continued to smile. Leaning into her brother, she asked, "Where's our mother?" She took a whiff at the air again, not that the question had to be answered. It was more rhetorical, and she seemed to ask it to herself more than others. This was because of her quiet voice. Every once in a while, she would glance back at the nursery, seeing if her other two brothers would make an appearance or if their mother was looking for them. She knew they couldn't venture too far. In the open, as small as they were, danger always prowled around, and Redkit wasn't quite ready to protect herself, and she depended on her parents to do so. Parents...she knew her mother like the back of her paw. The scent her mother carried, and the all too familiar of milk that she grown to love since birth. But as for her father? She never actually seen or heard him. And, she wondered who he was from time to time. And, glancing at the older tom in front of them, Redkit noted that he looked a lot like her brother next to her. Her whiskers quivered, but she dared not speak. The situation seemed awkward, and it would only make it worse if she decided to say something out of line. |

His mind offered him no peace. Realizing he still hadn't answered the question that Acornflash had presented him with, Greystep swallowed and opened his maw to respond, trying to force his vocal cords to move in a way that would make sense. "I-I m-mu-ight... might go. I'm no-- not--- not sure yet." Thank StarClan. That time his voice had sounded normal. The tom wanted to jump in the air and shout for joy, but managed to hold back. Again he swallowed, finding himself feeling small and weak as he did so. How pathetic could he get? Much more, apparently. Considering he felt very strange with the tom asking him about Splotchfeather. The sweet little feline had brightened up his day quite a bit. She was the friendliest cat Acornflash had had the pleasure of meeting in a long time. "We could... we could all g-guh-o... go together." Only one word this time! Again the tom congratulated himself, a purr coming from his maw as he did so. Of course he wasn't doing this out loud. Thankfully he had a good sense of what was and was not socially acceptable. Otherwise it might have been quite awkward. Something that, while Greystep was unforunately good at being, he did not have to be all the time. There had been a few times in the past where he had been socially acceptable. This just might be one of them. In which case, Greystep would feel himself growing very warm with pleasure and slight embarassment at the same time. An odd occurance, but one that seemed to have happened more and more recently. It was something that Greystep thanked StarClan for constantly, despite his embarassment that he still had that obnoxious stammer. It made him want to apologize to everyone in sight. As his companion's tail brushed lightly against his own grey fur, Greystep seemed to shrink backwards before he realized this was an accidental, even friendly touch. Upon recognizing and identifying this, Greystep smiled a little. "What? Y-you seem like suh-such a frien-freh-friendly cat!" His voice was a little more cracky this time. Mainly because the touch had been unexpected and unwanted, both things making Greystep feel extraordinarily strange. Thank goodness it was just friendly. He couldn't deal with trying to make much more then a friend right now... and besides, from the way Acornflash talked about Splotchfeather, it seemed he would soon have a son-figure as well as a daughter one. Soon they would be mates, he was absolutely sure of it. |
Re: SkyClan Clearing
The she-cat lay in the bright, warm sun as she slept, her only movement the occasional twitch of her paw and her chest rising and falling. She heard the talk of her Clanmates, though it was muffled as she stretched her jaws in a yawn. The molly was slightly awake, her thoughts active as she heard a cat approaching her. A paw prodded her side, she lashed out with her paw and grunted before realizing they might be of importance in the Clan. She suppressed a hiss of annoyance, opened her eyes, and grinning at her best friend, Ebonysong.

Beachkit smiled as he met the touch of his sisters soft fur. Right on cue! "Yep!" He squeaked to the large tom cat before him and Redkit. "This is Redkit, my little sister!" He mewed happily, nudging her playfully. This tom seemed nice, but why did Redkit seem so...afraid? Was she always like this? He had never seen her around new cats, only around him and her siblings. He didn't truly know how she acted. Apparently he didn't know her that well either. Oh well, she was here now, and that was good news for the little blue and tan tom kit. He turned away though, facing the red she kit. His smile was wiped away. He hadn't even noticed his mother hadn't been in the nursery when they left. Had he been so blind as to not see her? What a mousebrain...and a horrible warrior. "Uh...I don't know, I thought she was in the nursery. Y'know, cleaning herself or something. I didn't really look. I just came out here to see if I could see our Dad." He mewed, beginning to get worried. He turned back to the warrior who was standing there staring at him. "I-I'm sorry Mister, but apparently our Mom's not where we thought she was, we gotta go and find her. Bye!" He said, the words jumbling up in his mouth as they spilled out. Cliffheart smiled as he watched them. As a sense of humor, he decided not to tell them yet. He was touched that Beachkit had come out side the nursery to look specifically for his father, who he didn't know he was right here in front of them. He noticed the looks that he was receiving from his daughter, skeptical, like her mother. She looked so much like Scorchedpetal, and Beachkit like him. No wonder Jigglefoit had said it was a little strange to see miniature clones of yourself running around causing trouble. As Beachkit went to run off, Cliffheart stuck his paw out, intercepting him and pushing him back. "You're mother is fine. Scorchedpetal is out getting her some fresh food, she will be fine. For now, you two little ones can hang out with me. You said you were looking for your father right? That's what Beachkit said, right Redkit?" He asked his daughter, smiling at her. She looked so much like her mother, maybe she had inherited her smarts too, Scorched's beautiful and insightful wisdom and knowledge. Maybe she could guess it first. |

Redkit bumped her head into her brother's pelt as he nudged her playfully, and for a moment she felt like she could be herself. Not so tense whenever she met other cats. And, this was a first time experience for her. She didn't think she would be shy around others. Within the nursery walls, she wasn't afraid to act like the annoying, squealing sister to her brothers, nor was she afraid to look up and ask her mother millions of questions. ''You're looking for our father?'' Redkit asked, stealing a glance towards the older tom. Had Beachkit not seen it? Or, had it passed over his head? The she kit knew that she would had loved to get to know her father. Develop a bond with him, and practically cuddle in his arms whenever she had a nightmare or needed the comfort. Redkit was extremely affectionate towards her family. She enjoyed shoving her way into her mother' paws, and curling up to her chest fur, and sleeping right then and there. Or, sleeping her way, smothered between her brothers. Just knowing that she had a sense of comfort made her happy. The first thing that came to the female's senses were the scent of the tom standing before them. But, that thought rushed out her mind when Beachkit announced that they should look for their mother, and Redkit gave a rapid nod, no words flowing out. As she was about to follow her brother around like a shadow, Beachkit was stopped by the older tom. Redkit gave a slight giggle at the scene, and twitched her ears when the tom addressed her. He had a friendly face, and his voice seemed laced with love. The shy kit shuffled on her paws for a while, before she took a look up, staring into the yellow hues of the tom. ''You know our mother?'' Redkit took a whiff of him once more, trying to decipher where that familiar smell came from. She then inwardly cursed at herself for asking such a stupid question. ''Mouse-brain!'' She muttered aloud, albeit to herself. Of course the tom knew her mother. They were clan mates. She was sure that they fought in battles together. She was sure they were good friends...take in another whiff, and soon it came crashing down on her. She flicked her tail, staring at the tom with her own brownish-yellow eyes, and squinted them slightly, ''We are looking for our dad.'' We, as in she was in on this adventure that Beachkit decided to take on his own. Her voice sounded distant, and she looked the tom up and down. ''Or, it seemed like our father found us?'' Her eyes sparkled. It wasn't hard to interpret that the tom was identical to her brother--a younger version of himself. Then, there was Sagekit, who was practically a long-haired version of the tom before them. Redkit felt herself beaming, hoping that she cracked the case. She wanted to leap at her brother, and ruffle up his short pelt, just to be in spite because she knew that he enjoyed a nice clean coat. Redkit wasn't as finicky, and bluntly, she enjoyed a little rough housing every once in a while. To her surprise, the she kit got up, and rounded herself around the front leg of the tom she thought to be her father, the same way she greets her mother every time she sees the queen entering the nursery. Redkit emitted out a purr, feeling a sense of shyness leaving her--although it was still there. Seldom it would be around her family. With the familiar scent entering, and the fact that two of her brothers looked exactly like the tom before him--the case was solved. Then, another awkward wave came upon her, knowing that she was second guessing herself once more. What if he wasn't their father? What if she was simply making a mistake? Redkit padded away from the tom, her head lowered, and she approached her brother's side again for comfort. It would had been humiliating to the feline if she done such a thing--displaying affection that was clearly only for family, and on top of that; getting their father wrong. She did not know how important it was for Beachkit to find their father, and truthfully, she had been curious as well. The only thing she remembered well of him was his distinguished scent, and the tom in front of them had carried the scent. Hopefully. Just, maybe. She was right. |

Cliffheart smiled. So in fact she had seemed to inherit her mother's intellect. He was glad it was Scorched's mind, and not his she had. His mind wasn't a place he liked to visit often. "Your mother is only one of my dearest, most loved friends." he purred to the kits. "And yes, it does seem that I have found you." This was the most relaxed he had been in a while. It was nice to talk with his kits, his offspring, his family. He hadn't really had any family to talk with as an apprentice, or a kit. Something he regretted. He knew part of it was his fault, spacing himself from them because of his shame that he forced on himself due to his twisted paw. He knew he forced most of his stress, depression, and struggles upon himself, but he didn't exactly know how to not do it. And things only seemed to be getting worse the closer he came to his family. Just the mere fact that he was responsible for six cats, Strikerkit, Beachkit, Redkit, Sagekit, Scorchedpetal, and himself, it was overburdening for him. "So, since it seems we met right here, why don't we do something? I promise, your mother is fine. Do you really think I would let her go out by herself if I thought she wasn't capable enough to do it?" He asked, proud to see that his kits were worried for their mother. It seemed that they did have a piece of him stuck in there somewhere. Beachkit was awestruck. Why....How...what had happened to him for him not to see this? Wow...what a mousebrain he was. A wide smile cracked his maw as he smiled up at Cliffheart. "So..you're our Dad? Neat." Cliffheart chuckled. "Your one and only Cliffheart father. I don't think there's any one like me out there. Except for you. You look like some cat shrunk me down to kit size." He laughed a little, another rare thing for him. "As for you," he said to Redkit. "You act a lot like your mother." he meowed warmly. |

{Sounds good c:} As the new cat began revealing a bit of her background, he would allow a slightly sympathetic look on his face, his head nodding quietly as she spoke. "I am sorry to hear that ma'am." He would meow quietly before allowing her to continue on and answer his questions. As he listened, he did find himself apologizing her appearance and couldn't miss the rather obvious scar on her head. Though he couldn't tell what it was from, it let him know that she at least had some sort of strength and resilience to her, a good trait for a warrior of Skyclan to have. "Good to hear. Now what made you decide to try and join a clan, to leave your life as a loner in the past? And what do you know of clan life?" |
