Moonkit pushed the moss ball to Ashkit, making sure to pause in order to say, "Here it comes!" so that he had plenty of time to react.

ashkit suddenly flung the ball at moonkit’s face in some sort of weird reflex kick. hard.

Moonkit ended up with a mouth full of moss, but she just spat it out and laughed. "Nice!" she said, not mentioning that moss didn't tast very good. She kicked back at him, so it was aimed at Ashkit's chest.

they kicked it back harshly, seemingly very focused on the ‘violent kicking’ aspect of this game.

Moonkit dodged, then hit it back, hitting it with more ferocity. She didn't go full strength, otherwise she might hurt the kit. The moss was aimed toward Ashkit's face, much like the moss that had ended up in her mouth.
