Smokefang, the double faced
ThunderClan Warrior
He/Him

StarClan... Last time he came here... He didn't even remember when it was... Probably too long for him to remember. Yet, here he was again, with a corpse.

Smokefang decided to shut down all his vvicious thoughts, his twisted personnality he hod deep inside. He believed in StarClan, and the fact that he was that close with them in here... Where cats left to the skies... He was scared someone up there would decide to punish him...

Thus, he entered Willow's Rise with blank, empty eyes, and an unexpressive face.

Putting down the body on the ground, Smokefang started to dig a grave. As he was working in silence, he was just thinking about something. Yeah. That was better. Probably.

"We should bury them next to each other."

Indicated the tom.

"I don't know what they were to each other, strangers, or friends, but I think they might wanna find themselves with someone when... Whatever happens up there happens..."

Finished the tom, his claws digging deeper and deeper to create a hole sufficient enough for Bluedive.

Rookflight nodded, placing down Redtooth's body. She stretched out her claws, digging as close as she could to where Smokefang was digging without risking their graves overlapping.

"I guess only they'll ever know. But you're right. Nobody would want to die alone, or ascend alone."

Rookflight turned her gaze away and continued her digging, crouching on the edge of the grave as she dug deeper and deeper into the earth.

Re: Willow's Rise

Note: this takes place after the current TC meeting but before the prophecy group's return.

The ground was frozen. Bumblestar felt colder. From her paws to her ears to her nose to her gut - there was little warmth left to be found or felt as she set Redhawk's body into the grave she had painstakingly carved out.

It just didn't feel real. Neither did the bare willow tree that loomed over the gravesite, nor the forest around them, or even Mudhound's solid form beside her. A shuddering breath left her in a billow of frost that faded in front of her muzzle. The world seemed too quiet without Redhawk to fill the silence.

She hated it.

She hated herself right now, more than anything.

"I'm sorry I couldn't stop this," she rasped to Mudhound. "It should have been over by now. I... I should have done more. I could have done more." Where were Brackenclaw and Raggedear and Lavendersong? Why were they not back yet? Had the illness claimed them too, as far from home as they were? Or had they fallen to something else, dooming ThunderClan to suffer the plague without the cure until they all fell victim to it?

Bumblestar shut her eyes tight. The frigid air nipped at her nose and ears, but she would rather feel frostbite now over overwhelming grief. "I'm sorry."

Mudhound
Thunderclan Hornet | They/them | 40 Moons
Bilingual T3 | Flock Together T3 | Rapid Recovery | Killer Aptitude T3

.....Mudhound wanted to cry and scream and wail, to throw a tantrum at their sister until she brought Redhawk back like she'd done with Violetfreckle. The leader had done it for her mate, her love, but not Mudhound's? Redhawk had died right in front of them and Bumblestar had stood their like a stupid lump while the cat Mudhound loved died in their paws in agony .

.....It wasnt a fair thought really. Not when the tripod was too weak to even dig her mate of far too little's grave. The truth was the helplessness of it all was a sickening thing, robbing Mudhound of any catharsis of fighting and anger and action. It made the tripod feel cruel, want to hurt anything around them like they were hurting, even if they knew such actions werent them.

The truth was Mudhound just wanted more then anything to bury her face in Redhawks soft fur like a security blanket, like a child who'd suddenly realized the world wasnt fair. Maybe even if Redhawk was dead it'll still let the hornet sleep, rest the aching pained eyes that still shed tears, let them escape from the pain of life for just a moment. But Redhawk's soft russet fur, familiar from so many nights spent with the molly sprawled on top of her in their shared nest (yet another bitter sign they shouldve both acted sooner, and were fools for their cowardice) was gone to her now, vanished under layers of dirt in a burial ground not good enough for her.

Mudhound wasnt even shivering now, so long sitting in the snow with a form that no longer held heat it was almost fitting that their body was as cold as their iced over hollow heart, numbed to the warmth of their sister beside them. It was fitting maybe, nothing could fix this, nothing could fix them. Mudhound wondered for a moment if it'd bring some satisfaction if they went in the same way, not long to have to tolerate a world without their glowing warm sunset.
Bumblestar was wrong in that this wasnt her fault, but the hornet was dry of words of comfort and kindness they were usually so full of. So instead maybe the leader would read non existent blame in the lack. Because nothing could fix this now, nothing could fix Redhawk, nothing could fix Mudhound, and soon what little could be fixed in Bumblestar would be shattered beyond repair too.

There was salty ice on Mudhounds face, cracking pulling and aching as hot tears failed to melt it and only added more, a sob breaking free as the tripod sagged, strength gone to the cold ground. There was no words for this. Just pained keening and gasping breath that brought no relief. Cold and empty, cold and empty.

In another life, maybe it was you and me.
Maybe there we loved eachother right, without hesitation.
Maybe we were happy together, forever.
Maybe in that life we did all the things we said we would.
But we got this one instead.

You were my friend, my love, and now a shadow.
But you'll always be my favorite memory.
In this life, or the next.

Finally, after some time, Smokefang back up, a hole, deep enough, in the ground.

Perfect. The tom turned around, grabbing Bluedive's body by the scruff, and set it inside. After that, he backed, a solemn expression on his face.

"May StarClan welcome you with open paws. Rest in peace, you have done enough for the clan."

He was no leader for grandiose speeches, nor did he knew both, and, even if twisted beyond repair inside, Smokefang knew that respect existed. With that said, his paws started to push back the dirt down in the hole to definitely bury them and seal them from the light...

Rookflight finished digging a few minutes after Smokefang. Blue eyes filled with grief for cats she never knew, she gently buried Redtooth, scraping the clawed, soft dirt back over his body until she couldn't smell the scent of dried blood through the dirt. She rested her nose just above the fresh grave, sending a soft prayer for them in StarClan before lifting her head up and turning to Smokefang.

"Thank you. Let's head back now. I hate it here. It feels too... eerie. Like I'm constantly being watched."

Rookflight shivered, turning to leave and walking away at a moderately faster pace. She wasn't lying - this place gave her the chills.

Smokefang repressed a smirk as Rookflight turned around... Wow, really, felt like beeing watched? Damn...

Well, he wasn't going to argue. His 'sad face' back on, he followed the she-cat in step... Burial was done, one thing done, he was about to say 'useless' job but didn't. Well, anyway, that wasn't something important anyway...

Now he had to manage to do what he could have done if he wasn't assigned to that task...

"I'm just behind you..."

Indicated the tom...

"Well aware."

Rookflight's voice lacked the fear one might face after such a disturbing statement, and she didn't speed up her pace. Didn't look over her shoulder. Rookflight barely knew Smokefang, and yet she felt safe. Because he was ThunderClan, and ThunderClan always worked together as a whole.

Oh, wow! She hadn't been to Willow's Rise in.... A long time! She couldn't quite recall the last time she'd been here at the gravesite, but she could only assume for hunting. There were plenty of prey here, after all, even during Leaf-Bare!

"I quite like Leaf-Bare. What about you? I know a lotta cats don't like it because it's too cold, but me personally I think it's awesome!" Milkbee was basically hopping around on her paws, and stopped moving completely once her ears made out a faint sound in the snow. She lowered her body slightly and opened her mouth to taste the air, and lo and behold, SQUIRREL!!!

A quick crouch, creep and a pounce ultimately left her with a dead squirrel hanging from her jaws. Satisfying catch, in her opinion! The squirrel did make a fuss about it before she bit into its neck, which hopefully didn't attract predators. She highly doubted it, but well, who knows?

"More prey for the Clan!" Milkbee hummed in a sing-song voice, burying the squirrel to retrieve later, and shook her fluffy pelt out. "I think this is going great, dontcha think so, Stormy?"

Okay, everyone was here.
They can go now.

"Okay, let's go." Ravenfire said simply before leading the way.

Once they arrived at Willow's Rise, she glanced around.
"I guess we should... spread out a little bit to find the Horsetail."
