Fazekit waited for the queen to say something Did she realize I was right?

Fazekit purred and stuck her head back in the hole.

Seafoam ' Bark decided to watch on Fazekit from a distance, curious how this will go.

Fazekit kept sniffing from the hole with her head sticking out. She was really working to keep focused on staying near us.

The queen wrapped her tail around her paws, still watching. Her ears had twitched at the slightest of noises.

Salmonkit looked at Ringpaw as she walked into the nursery. She stepped back a little in fright. "Um...uh. I got a thorn stuck in my foot and it's in a lot of pain." meowed the kitten, looking down at her injured paw. She was a little nervous, since she never really talked to a medicine cat before especially a medicine cat apprentice. Ringpaw wasn't that much bigger then she was.

The young kit heard the footsteps of Shinefang, her fur starting to shake. Salmonkit nodded as he made his way over to her. "I tried to get it out, but instead I made things worse." replied Salmonkit, a little nervous now that she had gotten the attention of both of the medicine cats.

Ringpaw smiled warmly down at the kitten, who seemed to be wide-eyed and fearful despite Ringpaw’s assurance.
“Oh, that’s unfortunate.” She meowed to the tiny shekit sympathetically. Ringpaw decided not to point out that she had thankfully avoided thorns to the paw so far, but instead settled on: “Ive heard they hurt horribly. But I’m sure that it’ll be alright.” She cooed.
Ringpaw had recently decided to adapt her personality to kits. She had always seen them as just like her, bouncy and always ready to play. But, when Shinefang had first told her about deathberries and how they didn’t want a helpless kit to get to them, Ringpaw quickly felt like she wanted to protect the cute fuzzy things.
Of course, the calico herself wasn’t much bigger than Salmonkit, regardless of the slight age difference, so she still wanted to see her smile and play mossball.
Maybe striking up a conversation with the injured shekit wouldn’t be appropriate at the moment, but Ringpaw still felt the need to chatter aimlessly.
When Shinefang approached, Ringpaw looked up to see him coo at the poor kitten like she had.
See, even Shinefang can’t resist a sickly, or injured, kit! Ringpaw thought happily.
The calico apprentice opened her mouth to barrage Shinefang with a million questions, before he suddenly turned on her.
She stared back, her mint green eyes open wide.
“First, you lick off any blood and clear the way to the thorn?” She asked, a hint of pride that she had somewhat remembered.
“Then you try to coax it out with your tongue.” She finished. She remembered that there was something after that, but she decided that if Shinefang asked for it she would continue. “But you do it carefully.” Ringpaw corrected herself.
When she glanced back down at Salmonkit, she noticed just how tiny her paw was.
It certainly wasn’t like a full grown warrior’s, like Auroraflame’s, that was for sure! How would she even be able to maneuver a tiny pad of that size?
“Was I right? I think I got it down.” She chirped happily. Everyday Ringpaw tried to remember what Shinefang told her, the yellow tom not exactly barraging her with Info but Ringpaw certainly wanted to get it down.
This morning, she had quickly run through the comfrey uses he had given her before she became his apprentice.
It had taken her a full minute of scrunching her head and staring at nothing until she remembered aching joints. From that point, she decided that every morning she would try to run through one herb until she was positive she had it down.
She had never found it easy to bring things back mentally, like battle moves and hunting stances, and she had assumed that herb counting and uses would be easier, but Starclan, was it challenging, if not more than being apprenticed to Snapbranch.

Shinefang didn't bat an eye at the kits apparent fear. He was a scarred-up, matted mess of a tom from his warrior days. Many kits found his appearance a little frightening. In spite of this, and what he rarely let his clanmates see, was that he was quite fond of them. They were a delicate bunch though: very rowdy and curious and prone to injury. Ringpaw would have to learn to treat them as well as warriors.

He listened as Ringpaw listed off the first two steps for thorn extraction to the letter and gave a nod. "Good," he said simply, gesturing to the kit in a 'go ahead' manner. "And if You can't get it with just your tongue, try getting it out enough to pull it out gently with your teeth.

He tuned back to Salmonkit next and sank lower to the ground on creaking knees and spoke to her softly. "This might sting little one, but can you be a brave little warrior and stay still for Ringpaw?"
