The girl crouched in the old ware house behind a large piece of metal. Her shorts were raggedy, her t-shirt dirty, and her red hair was cut in a short rugged pixie cut. It was obvious that she had done it herself.

Jess reached back and squeezed her girlfriend's hand reassuringly. "I'll protect you." she whispered feircly.

Jess sighed, resting her hand on the tiny bag that rested against her hip. It contained a derringer.
"There's no sign of anyone-- or anything." she said. "We should move on."

Rena nodded, her green eyes scanning the area, "maybe we can get that old truck to work?" she asked, pointing to a red truck...

" Well those wires don't do anything with the ignition. Here let me do it. "
* He opened the hood and started to use a wrench from his pack. He knocked a few things together and patched everything else with duct tape. He got in the driver seat. He popped open the panel and pulled out the wires. *
" Ready to try this? "

* He pulled the wires together and it started up. He laughed and looked over to Rena. He jumped out and ran over to his pack. He picked up his pistol and shoved it inside the pack. He then grabbed his knife ran over to Rena. He grabbed one of his bandannas and cut it in half. He handed his old bandanna to her. *
" A quick and easy bandage. "
* He used an old rag and cleaned the grease off him. *
" We got to go now before the zeds get here. Grab your friend over there and get in. "
*He hoped into the driver seat and waited. *
