Fox’s Territory (open)
 

It’s a small territory, not too far from the twolegplace. Fox doesn’t mark her territory a lot so the scent markers are faint. She doesn’t really care much about marking it.

Forest nodded. "Okay! Like this?" He crouched down to the ground but not to where he was touching it, he slithered forward and pounced on a stick he had his sights on. "Did I do good?" he asked politely to Fox.

Fox stood up and nodded. “Yes. Very good.” She flicked her tail. “When hunting, your eyes shouldn’t just be on the prey. You must be observant of your surroundings so you don’t accidentally step on something and make noise.“

"Okay! Cool!" Forest meowed. "I'm gonna go look for real prey!" he said excitedly. He stealthily moved farther into the woods.

She nodded although she doubted he was going to catch anything on his first try. Perhaps she should observe his first hunt, it would be easier to determine what he doesn’t know and what he needs to work on. Fox crept after him, quietly walking, making sure to keep her distance, staying far behind him but staying close enough to where she could see him.

Forest scented a mouse. He dropped down into the crouch just like Fox. He crept forward, got ready to pounce... and... *Snap!* He stepped on a twig. The mouse scurried away. "Mouse dung!" He looked behind him "Fox? Are you here?"

Fox twitched her ears, her gaze followed the mouse. She flicked her tail and nodded. “I am.” She was several fox lengths behind him. “You were doing good.” She looked at Forest, trying to hide her irritation. All she wanted at the moment was food and yet she was teaching Forest how to hunt. She lashed her tail. @Katwhisperer

"S-sorry I missed it..." Forest mewed apologetically. "I'm gonna try again!" he said behind him as he walked deeper into the territory. He scented another mouse. He dropped down into the crouch just like Fox has taught him, he got within reach and pounced. Fresh-kill scent filled his nostrils. "I caught it!" He yelled where he came from. He wasn't hungry, so he mine as well give it to Fox. "Do you want it?" "It's a mouse!" He sat down next to it and started grooming his pelt.

Fox trotted over to him and nodded although she didn’t seem to have much of a reaction, she had a small smile. “Good job.” Her tail rose up. “Yeah. I haven’t eaten all day. You know. You weren’t too bad.” She knelt down, munching on the mouse. Although a thought crossed her mind, he was staying with her. The thought crept up on her, she honestly was unsure of how to feel. She was glad that she would be able to have a friend but... well... what if he betrayed her? She tensed at that thought. He was just a kit. He wouldn’t do that. She tried to remind herself she was being paranoid, he had lost his parents. How could she think that? @Katwhisperer

Fox tensed a bit but relaxed. She narrowed her eyes and huffed. “That does not sound like a good idea. Do you know how protective they are of their territories?” Her tail lied straight on the ground. She continued eating the mouse, trying to look as if she was unruffled by the idea. @Katwhisperer

"But I want to go!!" (In that 6-year-old mad voice) "They'll make an exception for us, cuz we're important. "Please... I want to have some fun..." (Now in a calmer normal voice) "And if you won't go with me, I'll go by myself!" He huffed.

Fox took a deep breath. “Important?” She echoed, her voice sounded as if she was going to strangle him. She sighed and muttered. If she said no and he managed to sneak away from her it could lead to trouble. She sighed. “Fine but one sign of trouble or of other cats and we’re leaving. Got it?” Her tail swayed quickly. This was idiotic. @Katwhisperer

Shade trotted to the Fox Territory. "What is all this racket y'all?" Shade huffed and turns to see an angry fox. "Um, hello there?" Shade says.

Fox walked back to her territory still carrying Forest by the scruff. She flicked her tail. She didn’t seem to notice the new cat in her territory and frankly, she didn’t care. Her eyes narrowed as she sat Forest down. “What were you thinking?!” Her fur bristled, her ears going back. “Trying to pick a fight with someone so much bigger then you and not to mention there was two of them!”

She placed her paw on his head. “They weren’t going to hurt us. You want to know how to fight? Fine. First step, know when to fight. That means don’t get into fights that you can avoid.” She snapped at him. “Cause unnecessary battles leads to unnecessary injuries.” Her tail twitched. She wasn’t just saying this out of annoyance. Despite how cold and distant Fox could be, she always tried to avoid a battle. If he really wanted to learn, she was going to make sure her message went across.

Forest barely heard her. "I-I think I'm going to sleep..." he collapsed on his side and fell asleep.

She paused and sighed. “Seriously?” She picked him up by the scruff and sat him down beside a tree. She sat down beside him. I can’t believe I actually took in a kit. I have all my mental problems to deal with and now there’s a kit along with them. Welp. Looks like I’ll have to see where this leads. She glanced over at Forest.

Shade looked at all three cats. "Meh." Shade shrugged and went to explore the forest more.

Forest woke up under a tree. "Fox? Are you here?" "Why am I under a tree?" He called out.

Fox chuckled. “Yes. I’m here. I’m right beside you. You fell asleep so I moved you here.” She flicked his nose with her tail. “I still can’t believe you wanted to fight them.” She smirked.

Fox tilted her head. “We ran into two clan cats and I had to literally pick you up by the scruff to get you to come with me. Do you seriously not remember that?” She narrowed her eyes. I’m not sure that’s something you can easily forget.

Fox huffed. “You could’ve and I will but you are going to fight the way I tell you. You cannot fight an opponent head on at your size.” She looked down at him. “Pouncing on me is going to do very little.”

Fox stumbled to the side a bit but caught herself before she fell. Forest wasn’t heavy enough to fully knock her down. She flicked her ear and looked back at him. “Forest. We practice with our claws sheathed. If I’m going to teach you, you’re going to listen to everything I say. Got it?” She lashed her tail.

“First, you need to know when a fight is unnecessary. If a cat is giving you a warning first, you should take that warning and leave.” She instructed. If she was going to teach him how to fight. She was going to make sure he only fought when it was necessary. I don’t want him to get hurt if it can be avoided. Her tail slowly swayed. She wished she could have his enthusiasm but she lost that a long time ago. I wonder what... No! I can’t think like that! I’m being paranoid! She had a look of uncertainty for a few moments.

"Okay... I get that, but if it is nessacary, how do you fight?!" Something inside of Forest had been awoken, and it felt like he wanted to rule everything. He wanted to kill someone... Then he had a flashback. He was thrown back into his memories, every day flying past like birds in the sky until it came to the very first. When his mother was killed. "You betrayed me!" The rouge yelled. "No, I didn't! I never wanted to be with you, so I left!" His mother yelled. Then it happened. The rouge jumped on to her slashing her spine. "You actually think that is your kit?!" The rouge jumped off of her. "You and me both know that is our kit!" "Why else would the "Father" leave before he was born? He probably figured it out!" "And now that he has my blood, he will be a murderer, a killer, a ruler!" Then the rouge... no his father killed his mother by tearing out her throat. "T-t-that's w-why... I-I want t-to kill someone!" Forest thought in his head. Whoosh! He got plunged back into his memories. Then he remembered it. The trip to the clan's territory. That exhilarating feeling in his blood. How he wanted to kill them. He blinked open his eyes, to see Fox standing in front of him. He was back in reality. He was breathing heavily, and his heart felt like it was going to jump out of his chest.

Fox noticed his heavy breathing. Her ears twitched. “You alright? You seem.... nervous.” She rested her tail tip on his shoulder. I wonder what’s got him this shock.... frightened? Whatever it is, it’s not good. She looked down at him, concerned. Her ears went back a bit.

Forest debated with himself whether not to tell her the truth or not. "I-I h-had f-flashbacks..." They were fading out of his mind, so he decided to tell her everything. [ He explained all that he saw, how he felt, and what he thinks about it. Even that he wants to kill someone. I'm doing it like this cuz I don't want to write the whole thing. ]

Fox was shocked although it was only visible for a few seconds. Her ears perked and her tail stopped swaying. She flicked her ears, going back to her relaxed posture. “I see... and it... that must be hard to move on from.” She took a moment to think about it. An urge to kill?... “And just because your father was a murderer, it doesn’t mean you have to end up like him.” She didn’t want Forest to make the same mistakes she did. “It may effect you but you are in charge of your own actions.”

"BUT I WANT TO KILL!" Forest lunged at Fox, biting her leg, and scratching everywhere claws unsheathed. "DIE DIE DIE! He was fighting like his life depended on it. "I CAN'T HELP IT!
HE'S MAKING ME DO IT! IT FEELS GOOD! DIE! "DIIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! he yelled. With all of his might, he lunged at Fox's face, scratching furiously. "JUST DIE! I NEED TO TASTE CAT BLOOD! DIE DIE DIIIIIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEE!"
