A Poppy made of Fire (P)
~Girl's POV~ Wow. Where was everybody? I thought, sitting down on a bench in the large town. Nobody was out, it was as though the town was abandoned, but you could see the lights on inside of houses and apartments. I sighed as I set my head on my hands, watching as a few people who had gotten out walked by. They seemed just as confused as I did, and I wondered why most of the town weren't out like usual. Most of the time this town was bustling with people. The sun shimmered down on my brown bun, as I adjusted the outfit I wore. A small hat laid on the side of my head. @poppy. |

The street was dead silent. Like a ghost town, I saw no one. Except for a brown haired girl down the street, who looked as bewildered as I was sure I did. My fingers brushed against the railing as I walked idly by. My chestnut brown hair fell into my face and I quickly snapped a hair tie around it, into a messy sock bun. My almond shaped blue eyes shot every which way as I crossed the street, certainly not needed because there were no cars at all, but my instincts overpowered my brain. Now that I thought about it... usually everything overpowered my brain, because I didn't use it much. Looking up, I was much closer to the girl as I first thought. Being the introvert that I was, I immediately backpedaled and was about to jump being a tree like in a cartoon, but she had probably already seen me. Damnit. I walked over with a small, awkward smile. "Hi." If I did this right, I could just walk by her and she would only say hi back. Then again, I never did things right, so I was probably screwed. |

~Girl~ I was lost in my thoughts again, not noticing the girl until she said one word. The word that symbolized greeting. I snapped out of my thoughts and looked up. "Hello...?" I said, looking at her. Why was she embarrassed? She must have done something embarrassing, but I didn't see because I was deep in my thoughts of what had happened to this town. I smiled, standing up. "What is your name?" I asked, looking at her with a small smile. Wow. I am usually boastful, but right now I'm not... Maybe it's the low amount of people to impress? I thought, putting my hands on my hips. |

DAMN IT! This girl wanted to talk! Unfortunately for the both of use, I was so awkward I was considered mentally incompetent half the time. Well... more than half the tme. "Um... my name is uh..." In the moment, I freaking forgot my name. Inwardly cursing myself, I quickly smiled and became very interested in the little weed in the sidewalk cracks. Oh yeahhh, now I remembered. God, I was so dumb. "Teddy." That sounded random, so I quickly added, "I mean, that's my name. Er, like, my name is Teddy." What should follow that statement? Something to draw the attention away from my apparent stupidity. Uh, what is you're name? |

~Soon to be named girl~ Erm... This is rather... Awkward... I smiled. "I'm Victoria La Bird!" I said, rather boastfully. Most people around turned their heads to me, and I smiled at them. I was popular through the town, and I liked it that way. I looked back at the girl. "Nice to meet you, Teddy!" I said, sitting back down. I put my right leg over my left leg, as I grabbed a small rag and bottle. I took the bottle and unscrewed it, then pouring a smidge onto the rag, and then rubbed it over my bright yellow high heeled boots. |

Oh.... okay? Was I supposed to know who she was? She seemed like.... like she wanted me to acknowledge her. "Uhhh woooow... I uh, can't believe I'm talking to the Victoria La Bird!" That did not sound sincere at all, actually made me sound quite sarcastic, but maybe she wouldn't notice. I definitely didn't want to get on her bad side! Straightened my hoodie, I smiled at her admiringly. Being the new kid in town as strange as this, I didn't want to make an enemy of anyone with a higher social status than I. Oh, who was I kidding. I didn't care. |

~Victoria La Bird~ Hmm... Sarcasm. Must be knew! I smiled at her. "I am the master Fashionista of this town! I have quite a bit of high status friends, as well, and if you would like to meet them, you can tell me and I will call them!" I said, giving a stretch. (Sorry for the short reply!!) |

Master Fashionista? Yellow shoes? Shouldn't be the same person, yellow heels were..... hideous. But who was I to judge? My sneakers were hand me downs, and my hoodie had Cheeto's stains that I hoped La Bird didn't notice. But of course, with my luck, she definitely would. |

~Victoria La Bird~ I smiled as I looked at the people who decided to look at me, then turning my head back to Teddy. "Are you knew around here?" I asked, gently pulling up the side of my boot. (Srry for the short reply!!) |

[ahhhh sorry!!!!] I wasn't very impressed. It was a fact, like, in my mind, fashion was something that changed with every person, like for me, dressing up was wearing new tennis shoes and a nice pair of athletic shorts. But, if Miss Victoria La Bird was the fashionista, then maybe I should wear yellow shoes... Ugh, why was I still thinking about this. "Um, yeah. I'm new." I said with a small, crooked grin. It was obvious, I had to admit that. |

~Victoria~ I smiled. I then put my thin arm around her shoulder. "Well then, welcome to _____!!" I smiled and started walking forward. "Might as well give you a tour!" Without realizing, my hat fell to the ground, causing my folded wings to appear and my feathery tail to also appear behind me. I looked around giving a smile as I figured out what to show Teddy first. (Blank is me trying to figure out what the town's name is, lol) |

Wow, she got really friendly really fast. I didn't hate it, but my introverted self wanted me to pull away and run back to the safe apartment, hwere the only humans I saw were the ones on the rom-coms I binge watched while eating kale chips and peanut butter butter balls. Yeah, I was lonely. So maybe the over-friendly Victoria La Bird wasn't too bad, WAY out of my comfort zone, seemed like the kind of girl in High School you admired but never really got noticed by unless you spilled chocolate milk all over yourself then tipped into her on the way to the bathroom to Clean up. Nope, DEFINITELY not speaking from experience. But if she liked me enough to want to give me a tour, then maybe I should let her. "Okay." I said, my traitorous voice cracking. Blushing I looked at my feet. Stupid teenage body. |

~Victoria~ I pointed towards a large, red and white building. "That's our hospital," I said, then pointing to a smaller building. It was mainly glass with a green trim across it. "And that's the market. Our small is located over there," I said turning my hand to a large, black, pink, and white building. |

Biting my lip thoughtfully, I looked at each building. They were very colorful. "Is it always so... ghost-towny?" I asked, looking over at her with a shy smile. Hopefully she wouldn't take it the wrong way. Back in San Antonio [where I came from] the market was outside, and the mall was huge, the meeting place for us adolescent teens who needed an oasis- and a place to shop. I know I sounded bratty, a spoiled city kid who didn't like her new small town, but I was just used to seeing more than 7 people in the streets. Why did we have to move? I missed my friends..... Well, I might as well make the best of this torturous decision maybe befriend some popular locals. Oh wait- I was already doing that. |

~Victoria~ Losing the smile for a moment, I turned my head towards her. "No... We're not sure why, but for the last week more and more people have been staying inside or going to the hospital .." I said, staring at her. "But nevermind that! I think I should introduce you to some of my freinds!" I said. (Srry this is short!!) |

I nodded slowly. Didn't make me any more thrilled about moving here or the prospect of a new life, and at Victoria's offer to meet her friends, my smile faltered briefly. Was I ready for that? And if she introduced me to her friends, would I have to introduce her to my brother? No doubt Sam would humiliate me, and flirt with everyone, but at least he'd make me look better, so introducing him to everyone was a definite possibility. "Cool. It'd be nice to know more people here than my mom and my... brother." |

~Victoria~ Spreading my wings, while not noticing it, I smiled. "Alright!! This way!" I said, taking her towards the largest building in town. I put my hand on the door, opening it into a large room, with a chandeleir in the center of the ceiling. Some lights lined the wall, making it a very bright room. A velvet chair was in the corner, and I mentioned for Teddy to go sit on it. After folding my wings, I headed towards a back room. |
