The New League: Roleplay [Revived!]

Welcome to Freeland City!
It’s been fifteen years since the reign of Chainbreaker, and society is slowly recovering, thanks to the leadership of Rigor and The League!
Sure, there are still some troubles and problems that happen now and then, not all villains disappeared with Chainbreaker, after all, but what is a society that doesn’t have its own unique quirks?
Things are better than they’ve been for a long time, and that’s ultimately what matters.

Sign-ups/Information

1. Make sure your character’s current location is included at the top of your post.
2. Be kind.
3. Unless a New League member wants their identity publicly known, they’ll be wearing their costumes as they leave their Patrol Unit common room/enter the Tower during the morning.
4. Clarify in your first post(s) whether your character’s civilian identity is guarded or open. And if the character’s patrol unit knows who they are or not.
5. New League Patrol Unit members can either live in their patrol unit commons or at their own homes.

Fifteen years ago today Chainbreaker’s reign of terror ended, and subsequently the Age of Uncertainty!
This is a day of celebrations, joy, and excitement! Parades and special League of Four events are held all throughout the day and all over the world. During the evening, Gifteds all over the world (in timezones where it is currently night) pitch in to create a massive, world-spanning light show that can be seen from space, just by using their powers!

Do you have what it takes to be a hero? Enter the trials to find out!
Every year these trials are held by the New League in order to select the next generation of superheroes aged fifteen and up!
Anyone can try out, but only the best of the best are selected to become true Superheroes!
(Gifteds can try out only two times. If rejected a second time, said Gifted will be deemed unfit for becoming a hero.)

Victory Day is here! Should we be on alert for attack?
By: Jenni Gossiq

(February 11th 2167)

It has been fifteen years since the defeat of Chainbreaker and the end of the Age of Uncertainty. Life has seemingly returned to normal, or has it?
Recently, there has been an uprise of murders and small-time crime, causing the citizens of Freeland to wonder if Freeland City is as safe as we think it is.
One of our informants, who refuses to reveal their name, has some information on what may be to come on this day meant for celebration and peace.
“The world has changed a lot in fifteen years, and Gifteds are no longer ostracized or forced into hiding, causing more and more powerful Gifteds to reveal themselves. In my opinion, these so-called ‘heroes’ will be the end of us all!
We just seem to be bending down to whomever is in power, which is not good! How do we know the Gifteds have us, the majority of the population (Non-Gifteds) in mind when they do these things? What if they are bitter and still mean to destroy us for not accepting them so long ago?
In my opinion, we need to stop their reign of ‘peace’ before it becomes a reign of terror and massacre!”

Victory Day is Here!
Happy Victory Day to each and every one of you! Today should be a day of celebration and peace, so all patrol units shall be operating on hybrid schedules. Only if you are called in should you be out on patrol. All New League Gifteds are encouraged to treat today as a vacation day and to take advantage of all the events that Victory Day has to offer!
Nonetheless, we must be on our guard, as there has been some gossip going around, perpetuated by a certain newspaper, that there might be a dangerous uprising today. Of course, it is not actually expected to happen, but we can never be too careful. Keep your eyes open for any suspicious activities and try to avoid lonely alleys. Some of our population, Gifted and not, might have been stirred by the articles put out today, and we don’t want any of our New League members getting hurt on this day that is supposed to bring peace.
A press conference is being held in the mass meeting room this afternoon, no League members are allowed to attend unless they have special clearance. This conference pertains to the recent murders in the area and the New League’s plan to catch the murderer(s). A written transcript will most likely be provided in current newspapers tomorrow morning if anyone is curious to know what transpired.
Stay on your guard, and have a happy Victory Day!

Morning:
This morning, a large parade in the New League and the League of Four’s honor is to be held outside of the New League tower! The floats will include:
The Original Four- A float where the League of Four’s original costumes will be set up for all to see and pay reverence. Pictures of each deceased Hero’s face will be displayed below their costumes, while Rigor will sit at the head in his original armor, wings, and costume!
The League Tribute- Following The Four is an equally splendid float dedicated to each and every member of the New League! The League Emblem is the center of attention, and it is made of up to six thousand roses, each with the Alias of a New League Gifted tied to their stem! This is truly a floral wonder!
The Trial of The Ages- This interesting float follows The Tribute. Made to look like the Event Center stadium, where the Hero Trials are held, this float will occasionally explode in color and shape top, as six New League Gifteds with visual powers will occasionally send spurts of light (and in one Gifted’s case, showers of candy) shooting out of the top to amaze onlookers. The design is supposed to look like amazing trials are happening within, and it surely achieves!
The Lost- This float follows The Trial, and it is more dour than those before it. This float has the names of over one hundred thousand people who died in the Age of Uncertainty carved into golden plaques that ring the dark-colored float.
Chainbreaker- This is by far the most anticipated of all the floats- besides The Four, of course- as an actor dressed to look like Chainbreaker sits upon a crumbling throne, poised above the “ruins of Old Freeland City”, is positioned there for the audience’s enjoyment. The audience is encouraged to throw food and light items at “Chainbreaker” and join in with chanting against him. Of course, nothing heavy or with the potential to harm may be thrown at the actor, as he is just that, an actor.
Many more floats follow these, but these are the top five!

Noon:
After the parade, a plethora of activities happen. Including these three most anticipated ones:
The Victory Picnic- Every year on Victory Day, a picnic is held by the Event Center in Freeland Park. Families are encouraged to bring picnic blankets, food, yard games, and anything else that seems appropriate to enjoy this wonderful day in the sun. Many Gifteds with the power to affect the weather work long and hard the day before to make sure that Victory Day feels exactly like the nicest of Summer days and not like a cold, bitter February day. The picnic lasts well into the evening, and people may come and go as they please. Local music groups will be playing at the band shell from 12:00pm to 6:00pm, and movies will be shown from 6:30pm to 9:45pm.
The Everyone’s A Hero Trials- Immediately after the Parade, you can make your way down to the Event Center stadium to partake in sports events and tests of skill and mettle in the Everyone’s A Hero Trials! There are games to play, prizes to be won, and chances for even Non-Gifteds to be heroes on this wonderful day! Participants are encouraged to wear Hero costumes of their own creation to partake in these events.

Evening:
After the Everyone’s A Hero Trials end and the last movie plays out on the Event Center lawn, the sky will begin to light up all over as Gifteds with visual powers take to the upper stories of buildings and to balconies to begin this beautiful showcase of light. The light show will last from 10:00pm to 10:20pm, so be sure not to miss it, or you’ll have to wait until next year!

Two Found Dead Days Before Victory Day. Are Villain Syndicates As Dormant As We Think?
By: Jenni Gossiq

(January 31st 2167)

At 3:00am, this morning, a League patrol unit arrived at a neighborhood on the west side of Freeland city to do a routine check-up, when they heard screams and what sounded like a scuffle.
Arriving quickly on the scene, the League patrol was disappointed to find that they’d just missed whoever had caused the commotion, but their disappointment was quickly replaced by horror as they noticed the two still-warm bodies on the ground.
Both bodies showed no signs of injury, though both had faces frozen with horror.
The bodies were taken quickly to the hospital, but they were declared dead before they even were removed from the emergency transport vehicle.
When asked if this could have been caused by rising Villain syndicates, The New League founder, Ryan Patterson (Alias: Rigor) refused to comment, though the patrol members who had found the bodies had a lot to say.
“This was clearly a murder,” Stated one of the patrol members, Rumble, a Gifted with the power to create thunderclouds, “No doubt about it. Though, pinpointing who the murderer- or murderers- was will not be so easy to tell.”
“Like Rumble said, Murder. We can’t disclose any more information at this time, though, sorry,” Wingit, a Gifted with wings on their back, said, looking genuinely apologetic, “My heart goes out to whoever is family to these two victims, I hope we can catch these murderers.”
Octolady, an eight-armed member of the patrol unit, was not so keen to answer any questions,
“We’re strictly forbidden to disclose any more information, and quite frankly, I’m sick of you guys butting in to everything,” She was heard saying to a reporter for “The Freelander” as she led her unit back to the New League Tower.
The other three members of the patrol unit, Haze (A Gifted with the ability to create fog by use of her taking moisture from the air), Quizzical (A Gifted with the ability to confuse enemies with only his words), and Rogue Wave (A Gifted in control of a beast made of water that serves as his companion) offered no comments.

This morning at 3:00am, two people who have yet to be identified were found dead by one of our patrol units which included Rumble, Wingit, Octolady, Haze, Quizzical, and Rogue Wave.
Extra information is top secret for now, any information that is found shall only be revealed to the public by The New League public relations officials during a scheduled press conference.
Do not release any more information to the public at this time.

As Victory Day is coming up, a customary refresher is being sent out regarding protocols that are to be strictly followed by all New League members.

Parade Protocol:
All New League patrol units are welcome to watch the parade, though not participate on floats. Patrol units are to watch the crowd to make sure no-one is causing any mischief.

Light Show Protocol:
At 10:00pm, all New League Gifteds with powers that create a flash of light as an effect are encouraged to participate in the light show, though keep well away from civilians during power usage, as injuries have been known to happen at times.

Valentine's Day, also called St. Valentine's Day, is a holiday when lovers express their affection with greetings and gifts. Given their similarities, it has been suggested that the holiday has origins in the Roman festival of Lupercalia, held in mid-February.

Click Here to see which patrol unit you’re on!
(Mind you, characters should be familiar with their patrol unit in the roleplay, as they are already formed at the beginning of the roleplay. It is encouraged that you discuss how well your unit works together/how close knit your patrol unit is over Private Messages to make patrol interaction as realistic as possible.)

Re: The New League: Roleplay [Revived!]

Kingston yawned and stretched as they got out of bed that morning. Their usually impeccable red hair was tousled and messy, and they grimaced at their reflection in the mirror.
“Tsk tsk, Kingston,” They chided themself, sliding out of bed and getting in front of the mirror, where they began to fix their hair, “Can’t be looking like a messy teenager, can we? No, we cannot be.” They smoothed down their hair and fixed it until it looked presentable. Perfect. Good. No more messy teenager hair.
Then, they dressed themself. A nice polo shirt and some slacks would do nicely (not like they had anything else to choose from. Their wardrobe was literally nothing but the aforementioned articles of clothing.). Today would be rather cool, so they put on a nice jacket and slid some gloves into their pocket. One could never be too prepared for a chilly morning.
They made themself a nice hearty breakfast, eggs Benedict, black coffee, and some bacon, with the fat taken off, of course. With breakfast, they read through the news. Oh? What was this? Two dead? Kingston chuckled to themself, they always loved it when they got in the news. Those two had been so weak. Seriously, that little mind trick wasn’t even the best they had! Jesus, that was the easiest time frightening someone to death they’d ever had.
It had been a little boring. Didn’t have the same rush.
Whatever.
When they finished reading through all the interesting articles, they stood up and made their way to the door, grabbing a to-go cup for their coffee as they did so, as they hadn’t finished, and they wanted a little pick-me-up from being awake past twelve last night.
Then, they set off on the sidewalk, headed towards Jill’s. In all appearances, Kingston James Amery. Though, in reality, they were Sovereign, planning their next attack.

Cain's eyes flickered open just at the tight moment. He looked yo his alarm clock. 2 minutes until it rang. So, he outpaced it. Today was going to be a nice day.

Cain felt so stupid right now. Literally. He woke up EARLY! How did he manage to be late!? Okay, maybe he did spend way too long, making cinnamon rolls for breakfast, but he had been putting off making them, and the ingredients were going to go bad! Maybe he should have prioritised things better because now Cain was barrelling through the streets like a madman, half-dressed in his superhero suit, half-dressed in civilian clothes. In his hands were a gym bad and some tupperware.

In his frenzied attempts to reach the New League headquarters in time, Cain found himself barrelling right towards an unfamiliar figure on the street. Would they be able to dodge the clumsy runner?

Covey crossed his arms and tilted his head as he observed the suit in front of him. A mechanical wonder, truly; the boy sometimes wished he had any kind of knack for tinkering or mechanics. Rigor’s original suit would always be awe-inspiring no matter how many times he had seen it - which, uh, had been ten times at this point. What? The museum was pretty cool! Besides, it was usually a fairly quiet part of the new league tower. Plus Covey was brushing up on his history, which was totally something an intellect, such as himself, would do.

He turned around, looking out one of the windows to the ground which lay 600 floors below. Man, he would give anything to sneak onto the roof and glide off - he’d be in the air for ages with height like that. Had it not been for the security blockages, he likely would have impulsively done so by now. His hand reach up and began absent-mindedly fiddling with one of his earrings and he glanced towards the door. He should probably go down and get breakfast soon - he had come to visit the museum as soon as he was up and dressed, forgoing food so far.

The Wraith
| ---> Patience Golden Crawford; Identity undisclosed | She/Her | Location: Mass Common Room |

Habit. Wasn't that a funny little word? One could also refer to it as routine as well, if that was the posh word they preferred to use. But to Patience, it was all Habit. When she'd lived a life so freely, with everything and anyone at her beck and call, it was easy to say she'd been rather spoiled. Pulling absolutely merciless pranks, running around without bothering to stop and pick up the messes she'd made, it'd all been an illusion of careless fun before. And after running away... Well, it was eye-opening.

Everything was habit now. From the time she woke up to where she went. Everything had a fixed time and place. Patience could not go wherever she wanted for once. There were restrictions, ones that were different from the ones her parents had placed upon her. But she was no longer in the care of her parents. She was out here, alone, with almost nothing beside her basic stuff, for a reason. Seriously, if she got kicked out of The New Leagues for doing something stupid (which was highly likely, seeing her previously stated antics), Patience had nowhere to go. She'd have to crawl back to her parents and apologize for everything, and probably say goodbye to her powers for good.

Okay, maybe she was being a liiitle dramatic, but Patience had nothing else to do. The day had only just started, and she expected it was going to be another slow day. With a sigh, Wraith lifted pale, half-gloved hands lifted to fix her domino mask in place. It wasn't tilted, but one could never be sure. At least, if her mint green eyes hadn't given her away already, no one knew who she was aside from The Wraith. It was a strange name, but Patience didn't mind it.

Now, lowering herself onto a solitary couch in the corner of the Mass Common Room, Patience watched her surroundings in silence, as she usually didn't speak much,
and waited for another event-less day.

Spencer/Glory Road/In her suit (no alias, name unknown)

A dark figure perched on the rooftop of a general store. Her improvised suit could pass for regular clothes, if not for the shiny metal-looking mask. Spencer made it herself. She was not one for public displays, hence the lack of name, but the voice modulator and face coverage was convenient.

Currently, she was patrolling for danger, looking out for anything suspicious. Of course, the New League refused to give further info regarding the recent murders, likely due to some internal corruption. This whole thing was definitely suspicious.

(Open. Spencer is against villains and will fight them but she's also wanted by the law ands the New League)

Today was supposed to be a good day for Kingston. They’d had the day planned to. a. T.
First, they were going to go to work, finish their shift, and then take a walk through the park and just relax, maybe practice their Gift on some kids at the playground, give them a sudden fear of heights while they’re on the jungle gym kind of thing. Y’know, fun stuff like that. After that, they’d head home, redecorate their apartment for the upteenth time, and then suit up for fun times as Sovereign. A perfect day.
Until some bumbling idiot ruined it.
Sometimes, Kingston wished they’d received future sight instead of the power they had, because maybe they could avoid this kind of crap. But no. It always seemed to happen.
Kingston had literally stopped to look down at a loose button on their coat for one. second. And, of course, that was when disaster struck.
The kid barreled straight into Kingston and caused them to spill coffee all over their polo and their coat, and then proceed to fall backwards. They caught themself just in time, but Oh. My. God.
They turned blazing blue eyes on the perpetrator, already planning their demise (Though, they wouldn’t follow through because of, y’know, identity secrets n’ all that stupid stuff that wouldn’t have had to exist during the Age but whatever.). All they saw was red… until they saw that the person who had rammed into them… was a literal child. Oh. They were still angry, but children were different from adults. Kingston didn’t kill children.
…but that didn’t stop them from yelling at them!
“Good God, are you blind? Were your eyes shut or something? Bloody Hell! Look what you did!” They gestured wildly at their absolutely ruined outfit, anger spilling out of them like an overflowing kiddie pool full of toddlers, “This was my nice coat!” They snapped.
Now that they had gotten a good look at the kid, Kingston’s murderous anger returned because this kid… this. kid. was wearing part of a superhero uniform.
Well, paint Kingston with black and white stripes and call them a zebra! Apparently the League was accepting buffoons now!
They seethed inwardly. How come this… this… pint-sized, pea-brained, tiny child had passed the Hero Trials, but Kingston in all their excellence hadn’t? Holy cow what was this city coming to??

This was so incredibly unfortunate. Superheroes were supposed to make someone's day, not ruin it! Cain had barrelled into a stranger lost his balance and almost fallen back on his butt if not for a convenient street lamp to grab onto. He managed to hold onto the box of cinnamon rolls, thank goodness.

"I am so so sorry, good citizen! I really wasn't being careful, but I was late for patrol. I do hope that doesn't stain permanently. I'dreccoment a mix of warm water, white vinegar and dish soap. Uh...would a cinnamon roll interest you as compensation? I made plenty. " he said awkwardly, feeling incredibly guilty.

Hera Colton - Non Gifted.
Location: Her Apartment and Then The Sidewalk.
An Employee For The New League, In The Filing Department.
She/They

7:30AM

Her alarm echoed through the dark room. Causing the 19 year old to almost throw the phone across the space. Yet they still got up,only clearly a tad bit upset. Her boyfriend still unable to be contacted. Why? They had zero clue. He had refused to pick up the phone for a month or even read her texts. Was there even a reason he had ghosted her out of the blue? They wouldn’t know until he stopped being an asshole and actually responded. UGH! They picked up the thin black block that held the alarm’s off button,Swiftly pressing it. Hera sat up in the bed, Staring blankly at the screens message, “delivered”. Gosh, why was she worried about this right now, they had work today. The women hesitated as she closed the messaging app, they stood up.

7:35AM

They roughly walked over to her dresser, fuzzy eyes glancing over each drawer as they picked out their usual outfit of clothing. A leather jacket, baggy jeans with rips below the knee and a blackish grey tee shirt. Next was her shoes, not many option’s considering the other two pairs were dirty and worn. She selected the obvious choice, a pair of black and white skate shoes that she stole from her boyfriend a while back. They had only been worn a few times after that, as to not damage them. But today was busy, it’s not like she had much of anything to do anyways. She had plenty of college work to complete after work, and that was pretty much it. Maybe do a deep clean of her apartment?

7:50AM

When she was ready wardrobe wise next was brushing her teeth. The women walked to the bathroom, turning the light on, only then putting in her contacts. Then they picked up the toothbrush and toothpaste, opting to skip wetting it and just went straight to brushing. After that was mouthwash, her eyes already searching across the cluttered counter top, finding the blue bottle fairly quickly. They poured the correct amount of it into a separate small cup and gargled it in her mouth before spitting it into the sink. Letting the water run for a few seconds afterwards. Hera roughly took a comb through her hair,Making sure to remove any knots. They walked out of the bathroom, turning the light off as she did so.
They contemplated taking the blue sedan that was parked outfront, but chose against. “I’m not wasting gas on like a 20 minute walk.” They muttered. She walked to the kitchen,Thanking her previous self for putting all of the necessary things into the coffee maker the previous night. While waiting for the brew to begin, they grabbed a thermos and its respective cover, putting it under the spout. Leaning over the counter and grabbing the bottle of hot sauce then waited. Unscrewing the glass bottles top and poured a small amount into the thermos as the coffee poured into it. A small smile on her face, They turned to the brewer off and put the bottle down when the desired amount of coffee had filled the thermos. They put the cover on and walked towards the hanger that held her car keys but didn’t pick them up. Instead grabbing her apartment keys and bag, flinging it over her shoulder before walking out of the apartment. Locking it behind her, the women started their trip to work as they walked through the hallway and out of the complex.

8:30AM

Hera walked through the street, the sun still an unwelcome presence above her. They then faintly remembered Vessie, a smile rimming the corners of the women's mouth as the pleasant memories of walking with the younger girl came to mind. They were one of the few people who knew her secret identity. Which was a bad thing but it made her wonder who else knew. Now walking alone of their way to work was still a change she was getting used too though.

Re: The New League: Roleplay [Revived!]

Vesper Waught
Civilian identity guarded | Phantasia Sia, Tassie | She/Her | New League commons -> New League Tower Lobby.

She couldn't say she enjoyed early mornings. Though, she didn't mind them either. News of the two bodies spread like wildfire across the tower and aross town, straight to the of her aunt included. That morning, Vesper woke up to a few panicked messages from the aforementioned women, who send them just before leaving for work. Vesper had replied to her since, reassuring her that she was fine. But the news left a bitter taste in her mouth. Sometimes, just sometimes, Vesper wished she didn't have to be involved in all this. She knew why she was here, granted, her aunt knew little of these 'gifts' many at the tower were born with. But did she truly have to learn how to control it? Wouldn't life be simpler if she had just stayed home? It wasn't as though she was indispensable.

But then came those moments where she didn't dislike being here, only missed home (after all, up until a few weeks ago, she still commuted from home. And if it wasn't for those darn bus times changing, she still would be). The New League wasn't that bad, then. In fact, Vesper had spend many hours walking through Rigor's museum, marvelling at all the forbidden elements that were displayed, wondering what they may be able to do. And there were days where she'd walk down the hallway and wonder; would she see Rigor walk these halls someday?
No, see. Vesper didn't dislike it here. She just missed home. After all, she had only turned sixteen just over a month ago - the girl was still young as can be, and quite attached to her aunt. But she realised the practicality of her presence here; the practicality of being able to learn from well adapted teachers. That just didn't make it any easier.

Ah. The young girl was pulled from her many thoughts as her phone rung, a soft tune playing to announce that it was time for her to get up. She wasted no time turning it off, already having been awake for quite some time. She just hadn't moved away from her comfortable bed, yet, but would have to now. She sigh. Putting the phone, decorate in a white case with a pink flower pattern, down on a nightstand provided by the tower, Vesper finally got up. She put away the book she'd been reading the previous night in the drawer then headed to the build-in closet. For how peculiar living at the New League tower was, it wasn't the worst. Sure she missed home a lot and the safe feeling spaces there, but at least she still saw her aunt during weekends. And the unlimited access to information she had here was, admittedly, sometimes a source of comfort.

Looking through her closet, se was quick to find one of the two uniforms she had: they were identical, washed every other day so she could be dressed cleanly should one dirty. Getting dressed was quickly done and after a quick bite of breakfast the girl was off. She wasn't sure what was planned for today. Though, it likely wouldn't take long for something to come up. That's how it always went, as she stepped into the elevator that still had her stomach drop whenever the doors hesitated even a moment before opening (she quite hated the thought of becoming a pancake on the ground floor).
Gently pushing the button on the little mechanical box, that blinked alive to reveal an adorable drawing as a background screen, Vesper pulled up her messenger.
"You up?"
The pink-haired girl send a quick message to her pink-tipped counter part, a woman who worked within the tower. Their paths didn't cross as often anymore, but Vesper continued to enjoy her company.
[ @Larissa ]

Stuffing away her phone, knowing she'll hear a little ring should she receive a reply, Vesper emerged at the bottom of the tower, within the Lobby. Being unsure what was to happen this morning, she had opted to waiting for a few of the other patrol members. That way she could silently follow whoever seemed to know what they had to do, and end where she was supposed to be. This wasn't an uncommon occurrence; for how organised Vesper was, keeping track of exact schedules and never running a second late, whenever a hole came in such schedule the young girl found herself at a loss.

Raphael Acker (Ice Hound) - he/him - Rigor's Personal Museum

Mist hissed through the teeth in Raphael's mask as he shut the door to Rigor's museum behind him.

Walking around the Tower in his hero garb was uncomfortable, but he was more willing to be safe rather than sorry, and in any case taking a detour to this smaller space of the Tower always offered a chance to pull the mask off and breathe a bit easier. It rubbed at his jaw a bit, something he'd have to take up with R&D or costume design to get fixed. No one came here often, at least not when he typically was around, so with a breath of relief he pressed the buttons on the sides of the mask and slid it off. Sweet, fresh air.

Raph rounded a corner, spotted a brand-new exhibit, realized it WASN'T an exhibit at ALL, and immediately jerked back to fumble with the mask. His elbow knocked against the wall and he nearly sent an item crashing to the floor; a squeak escaped him as the thing teetered on the edge of its platform and stopped. Thank GOD.

A slow peek around the corner again as he refixed his mask, because there was no way whoever that was hadn't heard him. "Uh. Hello?"

Covey had just about decided to go down and get breakfast when a small commotion suddenly echoed through the otherwise silent room. He jumped, wings flaring out slightly with alarm as a he spun around to locate the source of the noise.

There, peeking around the corner, was a ludicrously tall person - easily a foot taller than Covey and with a few inches to spare. He found himself thankful that he had kept the shawl of his hood pulled up over the lower half of his face, hiding the fact that his jaw had dropped. It was only when the other person spoke that he came to his senses and composed himself some.

“Hello,” Covey returned the greeting. His feathers began to smooth themselves from their ruffled state as he began puzzling what exactly this guy did to make such a noise. “Did you knock something over?” Oh, did that sound accusatory or something? Crap. “I wouldn’t tell if you did,” he quickly backpedaled, “but, uh. Yeah. Sick mask by the way.” Geez, running into someone up here had really scattered his thoughts - to be fair though, it was a pretty cool mask.

Ace woke up, a bit late than she planned too. . .well shoot. Well, there's no need to worry, she can rush things pretty well if needed. So, she rushed basically all of her basic preparations, before speeding out the door. They decided to head down to the Mass Common Room, to prevent herself from getting bored to death. Right now, she was unsure if she wanted to talk to anyone, guess she'd decide if someone approached her.

Location: The Sidewalk To The New League Lobby
An Employee For The New League, In The Filing Department.
She/They

The older teens' eyes are drawn towards the crosswalk. Carefully pressing the button on the light that allowed them to pass, they proceeded when the white stick figure appeared. Only to find themself nearly jumping out of the way of a car- the driver looking away from the very clear person in front of them. Are you freaking kidding right now- god can people have things like super sight and hearing yet somehow almost hit somebody walking across the street. After making sure she was okay and all of her items were undamaged, they kept walking. Gripping onto their thermos until their knuckles were a clear white. Then their phone chimes a loud *ding*

The ping on her phone sends a grin wide on their face. “You up?” Simple yet a kind two words. “Nah, Just walking down the street like a zombie. I'm only kidding, what's up kiddo?” She swiftly answered back. Staring at it a little longer before hitting the send button. Hera wasn’t normally the kind of person to really care for messages but Ellie was different, so was their father and mother, and sometimes her boyfriend. They stared at the screen before pressing the side button and the phone went dark once more as they put it back in her back pocket.

The woman roughly sighed, eyes locking onto the door of the tall skyscraper before her. Scarred hand gripping the handle, while a brief thought of them just going home and calling in sick today danced swiftly in and out of her mind. Finally opening the door she walked into the building's large lobby. Avoiding anyone who didn’t either work here or was a hero. But one person caught her eye, instantly making them speed walk over. Avoiding calling out the hero’s actual name and replacing it with a swift change into her hero one. The nineteen year old whispered as she drew near. “Phantasia, how’s it going kid?

Their relationship was somewhat difficult to describe, but the best way to explain it was Sisters. Obviously them taking on the older sister role due to age, and Ves being younger by about Three years. Even one time watching movies together that had made Ves started to tear up at the opening of Tarzan- “Have you been watching any movies recently? Any that have made you tear up?” She asks quietly, still whispering as they laughed slightly at the memory. Meeting the younger girl face to face for the first time in a small while, having moved into the New League Building and Them still their apartment in ‘The Four Spire

Raina wasn't much of a talker, nor did she enjoy the company of others, especially not after the incident. But business was business (thought the former businesswoman, haha), and she needed to sort out some paperwork for their patrol. She needed to write down a few things about the members that she didn't know about. She knew teenagers probably didn't have a lot of experience with this stuff, so she took it upon herself. Hence, she had to ask.
Ah, Cove was there perfect.
"The league administrations needs some statistics on our resources and insurance, could you spare a minute to answer a few questions?" she asked, directly and straight to the point.

It was a quiet (i.e. boring) day in the New League tower today. A handful of people seemed busy prepping for Victory Day, which Covey was avoiding like the plague. His mother always made a big show of going out to see the Victory Day parade with a group of her friends and their kids, which meant Covey could not under any circumstances participate as a New League member. He was considering attending as a civilian, and just playing it off as a surprise for his mom, but he was still deliberating on that.

A voice drew him from his thoughts, and the boy looked up to see one of his patrol members, of all people. “Hello to you too, X.” There was no true sarcasm in his tone as he poked fun at her directness. “Yeah, I got time. What do they need to know?” Paperwork was not his forte - last doctor’s appointment he had to call his mom to help him answer some of the questions - so Covey did appreciate that X seemed to be fine with handling all of that stuff.

Kingston narrowed their eyes. Dear Lord this kid was already on a high horse. Good citizen? Pshaw! League kids were so full of themselves nowadays.
Kingston tried their best to wipe off as much of the coffee as they could, barely listening to the kid’s advice, though they did make note of it and decide that what more harm could come to their shirt if the kid’s words were false? They’d try it. They dumped out the remaining coffee into a bush.
“A cinnamon roll?” They echoed, an eyebrow raised. Hardly worth a cent of their costly shirt, but why not? As they reached for a cinnamon roll, the idea of the rolls possibly being poisoned flitted across their mind, and they batted it away irritably. There was no possible way that this klutz was trying to kill them, “Sure, why not,” They muttered, taking one and biting into it, eyes once again roving over the kid and analyzing him, “This isn’t too bad,” They observed.

Raina wasn't really offended by the sarcastic comment, she was aware of social norms but was pointedly ignoring them. No point to fit into a society that didn't care about you one bit. Her light brown eyes scanned the papers in her hand once more.
"They'reasking uf theres any technical issues in your sleeping quarters like lights and outlets malfunctioning. They also need to know how much of the provided budget you're using." she said matter if factly. These questions mostly didn't apply to her as she did not live in the tower and wasn't a minor who needed financial support. She did get paid of course but that was different.

A smile lit up Cain's face as the stranger appreciated his cookery. Ever since he was left on his own, he received even more cooking practice than back when it was a hobby and not a necessity. He liked to cook vegetarian whenever he could but he ate meat as well. Specific meals tasted really good and weren't the same without it.
"I'm glad you like them! See, the secret is that you have to measure exactly how much cinnamon-Hold on, I just remembered I'm late! Excuse me, I have to go. It was nice talking to you, sorry about your shirt though, byee!" he said as he ran off oast the stranger and up the street.

Dang, not even a hello back, huh? Well, Covey supposed not everyone could simply radiate positively such as himself. He crossed his arms over his chest as he considered - gosh, he was so glad he wasn’t the one filling out this kind of paperwork. He just knew it would wind up crumpled and forgotten in some dark corner of his room or stuffed in his desk.

Malfunctioning outlets.. “There’s an outlet in the corner of my room, by the foot of my bed. The plug kept falling out and not connecting to the electricity right. I had to move one of my plants” It was a pain and a half to find somewhere else to put that plant and its LED lamp - he ended up moving his luggage set to the corner where the lamp had been and swapping places with the plant. He elected to not elaborate on that story - he had a feeling X just wanted to keep things on topic.

As for budget, well at least Covey was good at tracking his expenses. Math had always been one of his better subjects and his mom put him onto helping with the budget at home as soon as possible. “I’m using.. like, 70-80% of the budget I would say? On necessities - I usually have a decent amount left over for other things.” Honestly, he wasn’t surprised there were so many older teens who opted to live at the tower - cost of living was much more manageable here compared to college from what Covey had heard.

Covey’s brows raised slightly as he listened to the strangers explanation while watching the still-wobbling object settle back on its platform, more humored than anything. He had no real right to press the issue - he would have said the same thing.

The mention of his wings, as usual, caught his attention. Covey was surprised he wasn’t at the point of tuning out comments about them yet, but for some reason those remarks stood out more than any others. The stranger then introduced himself as R….ice hound. As entertaining as the name Rice Hound might have been, Covey had a feeling that it was probably Ice Hound - an equally, if not more cool name than Rice Hound.

“Oh, thanks.” He extended his hand to complete the handshake. He could swear he could hear the echoes of his mother drilling in how to do a proper handshake. If it’s weak people will think you’re untrusty. Advice which Covey had found to be rather useless overall. “I’m Fledgling.” Truthfully, Covey had no qualms about sharing real name, but blah blah league policy and all that. An extra layer of security never hurt, he supposed. “So, what brings you to the museum? Usually it’s pretty quiet up here.”

"Fledgling. That's cool," he responded genuinely. Briefly he wondered what this guy's actual name is, which then spiraled into the thought that 'what if it kind of matched his real name?' and then to 'how many others have aliases similar to their real names?' and then finally to 'wouldn't that be kind of dangerous?'. It seemed like Raph zoned out for a moment, and then he pulled his hand back with a quiet laugh.

"I come up here once and a while to take this mask off. It's been uncomfortable lately, I think I might have damaged it. Been meaning to get it tweaked. Usually I don't see anyone else up here. Why are you here?"

A pause, and then he added, rather sheepishly, "That sounded accusatory. I swear I didn't mean it like that."

Stanley Watts- he/him- Somewhere around the Enemy containement cells

He lifted the visor of his helmet to wipe the fog on it, his face still hidden by a black balaclava, he finally decided to not lower it and grabbed his M4A1, continuing his guard duty in the perimeter, as he walked, he passed near an other patroling guard whom he saluted with a nod, the other responded and continued before disappearing at the corner of the corridor, the end of the patrol was near, he kept walking to the end of the corridor, finally arriving there, he took the talkie walkie at his belt and said, after opening the channel "Here's Stanley Watts, my patrol is over", he putted back the talkie walkie at his belt and entered the elevator, an other guard will take his place, he was sure about that...

Changing place, Stanley Watts, he/him, Cafeteria

The elevator opened on the vast cafeteria, he directed himself directly at the nearest restaurant, took something to eat after he paid it and went to sit on a random bench, he took over his helmet to remove the balaclava before putting it back on his head, he then took the first food he had under his hand and started to eat, he stopped and opened a pouch, taking his old sergeant stripes and looked at them...

[ covey walsh | mass commons ]

Flour dusted every surface within a two-foot radius of the winged boy, including himself. Covey leaned down to squint at his batter-smeared phone, cursing under his breath as he mumbled his way through the recipe again. Why did everything have to be in grams? As good as he was at math he most certainly did not have measurement conversions memorized. And celsius? Like hell he knew those temperatures in farenheit off the top of his head. He had been eyeballing things up to this point, but clearly it wasn’t working out.

He pinched the bridge of his nose, leaving chocolate-batter fingerprints on his face, and began searching for a measurement converter site. There was probably a scale in this kitchen somewhere, but he wasn’t digging that up. “Ok let’s see.. that’s one tablespoon of salt.” Of course, as soon as he added the tablespoon his brain registered it asked for a teaspoon, rather. Shoot. He squinted at the batter. It would probably be okay, right? Yeah, totally - it was supposed to be zesty anyways. At the thought, he cast a side glance to the oranges scattered around the counter alongside the rather intimidating zester.

Covey tapped back over to the tab with his recipe and groaned as it jumped to the top of the page. He was going to have to scroll through the author’s whole life story again to find the freaking recipe. He set the phone on the counter face-down, a little harder than was probably necessary and heaved a huge sigh - he hadn’t even started on the frosting yet. Why, why had his mother made it tradition to make this stupid chocolate orange cake for birthdays. Yeah, Covey was an adult who could make whatever cake, but it wouldn’t feel right if it was any other flavor. Besides, he was too deep into things now to just scrap the baking idea and get a cake from a bakery.

. Oh my God, kid, Kingston thought as the kid began to launch into the whole ass story about how to make cinnamon buns. They’d been starting to warm up the the kid for a moment, he didn’t seem to be the worst of the League’s little gang of babies, but the little warmth that had been stirring in Kingston’s chest towards the superzero was quickly quashed as he launched into it, I don’t need or want to hear it, I’ll be late to work.
. Thankfully, the superzero quickly realized that time was a thing, and he began to leave, telling Kingston (who could really care less), that he was going to be late.
. Normally, Kingston would let a kid that young leave them without any bit of consequence, but as this one had ruined their shirt and coat and was a League kid to boot, they decided it was only appropriate to leave the parting sting of an intrusive thought into his innocent little mind.
. No one will ever remember you when you’re gone as anything but a klutz and an annoying time-waster, Kingston drew the sentence in their own brain before tossing the thought into the kid’s brain with practiced ease.
. There, that should throw him off a bit. Take some pep out of his step. Serves him right for ruining my day.

Moving quickly, the assassin leaped off the tree and ran back to the city before anybody could spot her. She clenched her fingers, thinking about a life she could have had. But those rules were just so stupid... She couldn't follow those things... It was just so dumb... Stop for a moment, Ciara... It's your life... She walked through the streets, not knowing what to do.

Re: The New League: Roleplay [Revived!]

Vesper was silent as she leaned against the lobby wall, patiently waiting for, well, anyone really. She greeted incoming workers with their nine-to-five (or eight-to-five, in this case), giving a gentle dip of her head with a polite little smile to each person that walked by, some returning the friendly gesture - and some not. But the young girl hardly minded; they had a job to do, were busy people with fluctuating emotions, and were often occupied. Whether they returned her friendly greeting changed little to her day, though it was rarely a bother if they did.

With little to do, she scanned the lobby's surroundings for no apparent reason; just a simple look around until the twinkle of fairy dust pleasantly pulled the young girl from her mundane thoughts. A slight, genuine, smile crept on lips. She needn't look at the screen or even take out her phone to know who this message was from; you see, Vesper enjoyed assigning different ringtones to different people. That way, she knew whether a message may be important, ignorable, from her aunt or from a pleasant being. The sound of fairy dust being that of a friend; or, more accurately, a close friend. In this case Hera. Even for that she needn't take out her phone; Vesper didn't have many friends, let alone close friends. For that reason Hera was singular in her ringtone, and may as well remain so even if Ves ever found another close friend, unlikely as it was. She enjoyed knowing when she received a message from the older woman, and just as much enjoyed knowing who the message was from without ever needing to look at her phone. It was practical.

With little more hesitation, Vesper pulled the electronic device from her pocket, opening it up to see the comedic response, causing the girl to grin. Walking down the streets like a zombie, read the message, a response she could expect from Hera. Luckily, Vesper knew that should Hera truly be walking down the streets like a zombie, she'd likely be late and unable to reply over the phone - so there was little cause for worry (lest she be one of those fast zombies, and one with an excellent mind, which Vesper didn't plan on for they were meant to be braindead).
"Nothing much, just waiting for others to show up."
She typed a quick reply, sending the first part before she could start the second. You?, was what Vesper had begun typing out, though by then the young pink-haired girl had already spotted her friend walking up to the building. Deleting the few letters she'd typed and stuffing away her phone (after turning it off, of course) Vesper regained a more correct stature by not leaning against the wall and taking a few steps forward. There, she greeted Hera with a smile.

"You make me sound like a child, but I'm fine, thank you."
She mused lightly, a bit teasingly - she'd grown accustomed to the nickname, after all - head tilting and straight pink hair following suit. She then raised her chin a tad bit, head tilting the other way ever so slightly - it was a silent way of returning Hera's question, though, Phantasia was soon caught by another one of Hera's. Oh dear. Taken aback by the sudden comment her face lowered, a light embarrassed blush creeping onto her cheeks.
...She knew exactly what Hera was alluding to. Despite their slight difference in age, they got along just fine and would spend free time together every so often, such as the time they watched Tarzan at her aunt's place. It had just been the two of them, luckily, her aunty, much as she loved her, might've not let her live it down. Then again, Hera wasn't either. You see, barely were they one minute into the movie, and Vesper was already in tears. But could you blame her? The parents - the music - the sights - the situation - Two worlds, one family; how could she not tear up at that? Though, it was something she would prefer keeping between the two of them.
"No, I haven't had the time. But it's not as though you've never teared up in front of a movie."
There must have been one, Vesper was certain, that made Hera tear up - or maybe even cry. Was it the titanic? Some tragedy, or a drama? Ah, it was on the tip of her tongue.

Hm, a sudden thought popped up in the girl's mind, shifting her gaze from light laughter to sudden and momentarily fixate on Hera. Had she heard the news about the two murders? Probably, but... Hm.
"What will you be doing for Victory Day?"
She decided to ask that instead, small smile returning to her face. Victory Day was a much nicer topic of conversation than murders.

Ciara sighed, sitting on a tree nearby the New League Tower. She knew her power wasn't normal. She knew her life as a New League Member hopes were for nothing.

Stanley Watts- he/him, The City

His radio beeped, he sighed, put his food away and took the radio "Stanley listening, what is happening?" a voice, deformed at the other side of the line, responded, "Stanley Watts, direct yourself outside of the New League Tower, pick Tavor Hike and patrol in the city, over..." he putted his balaclava back on his hand and took his gun, he stood up and headed outside, he went out, two guards were guarding the entrance, he approached the two and said "Tavor, you have order to come with me for a patrol...", the other just nodded and followed him, they soon disappeard in the crowd of peoples walking there, about ten minutes after the start of the patrol, as the second guard was checking something with a passerby, Stanley watched the surroundings when he spotted someone different, a girl with a different appearance, he patted the shoulder of the other who turned around and immediately saw the reason of the call, they both advanced toward the girl position, two silhouettes dressed in grey, with bulletproof vests and helmets, holding their guns in their hands, Stanley easily followed the girl, different in the crowd, he just hoped the other wouldn't see them...

~~Ciara~~

Ciara felt someone following her as she walked through the city. She kept glancing around, her katana in her hands, waiting for someone to jump out as she walked on. "Who's there?" She hissed, looking around, not letting her guard down.

And crap, they were detected, there was no time for the stealth now, he raised his and indicated to move quickly and with guns up, he raised his guns, putting an eye on near the sight as he walked, his gun up, Tavor was following him as they were walking along a wall, a voice came out of a street, followed by the scraping of a sword beeing drawn from a scabbard, the two guards stopped, they better don't approach for a melee contact, suddenly Stanley had an idea, he asked with signs if Tavor could give him a rock or something, the second nodded and gave a spheric rock to him, Stanley smiled, the idea was perfect, he approached at the corner, and came out for a second, throwing the rock screaming "FLASHBANG OUT!" he waited two seconds, hoping that the effect would be great, and completely came out, followed by the second guard, guns up, the New League symbol painted on the side of their helmet...

~~Ciara~~

Ciara heard voices and footsteps nearby her, and she stopped walking, looking around, when a loud scream came from her right and something blurred past her vision, making her yelp and fall over. She quickly regained her balance and saw two men. She swung her katana in an arc, glaring at the two men. "You are New League Guards, aren't you?" She hissed. "What do you want with me?" Ciara kept her guard up, hand gripping her weapon tightly.

Stanley Watts- he/him, The City

He backed up when the katana swung in front of him, still aiming at the girl, who the hell was she? He responded at her questions "Yes we are New League guards, what we want? Put your weapon away, only heroes and restricted personnel can use them, and identify yourself..." a sharp, and professional response, they were two, they had guns, however in front of them was maybe a heavily armed hostile, which had maybe a superpower, they had to be very careful....

~~Ciara~~

Ciara growled at the two men, aiming guns at her. She slowly put her katana back behind her back with her two knives. Strapped to her skirt belt were a pair of karambits. She held her hands up, her right electric blue eye glaring at the two New League Guards, her left eye scarred over. "My name is Ciara." She hissed, her voice still angry.

He kept his weapon raised, but gave an look to Tavor, the other shook negatively the head, they haven't apparently ever heard the name, Stanley turned his head back at Ciara and asked "Are you soemone who work for the New League?"

~~Ciara~~

Ciara was a battle-hardened assassin who never can follow the rules without making expectations for herself. She kept her guard up as she kept her hands in the air, not taking her glare off the two guards. "No, I do not work for the New League." Whatever would get her out of this situation faster, she would do.

Stanley Watts- he/him, The City

They instantly took three steps back, Stanley took of the gun security, ready to shoot if something will go wrong, a second click next to him signaled the same thing for the second guard, even without the katana, the girl seemed to be strong enough to easily defeat them both, he tightened the grip on the gun and placed the sight in front of his eye, more faster he respond, less danger they could have, however, he still didn't knew what her power was, she didn't seemed normal... he'd asked, carefully and with a concentrated voice "For who are you working then?"

~~Ciara~~

Ciara smiled wickedly when the two men took three steps back. She kept her hands up. Her eyes narrowed when the guns were raised at her again. Her hands went down slightly, her right hand reaching for her katana when the man put his eye into the sight part of the gun, but she didn't grab it. "I will warn you, don't you dare try to imitate or provoke me, that is a very bad idea. I work for no one but myself." Ciara growled angrily.
