Rabbitwhisker bustled around the camp, clearing twigs and leaves so the clearing would be, well, clear.

The warrior glanced at the fresh-kill pile. Hmm, she wondered, should I go hunting? I should go hunting.

She didn't necessarily want to go without permission — in case she was needed elsewhere — so Rabbitwhisker trotted on over to Witheredstar's den.

"I'm going to go hunting!" the bobtailed warrior chirped brightly. "I'll be back soon!" She listened for a response, hoping she wasn't interrupting her leader from something.

Rabbitwhisker shuddered, recalling the awful creatures. "Yeh, I don't think I want to go alone." The warrior leaned back her hind legs and looked around the camp. She looked back to Witheredstar.

"Uh, no one else seems to be up . . . Would you like to come? If you're not busy, of course," she added, a little hurriedly. Rabbitwhisker just didn't want Witheredstar to think that she thought the leader didn't have better things to be doing.

With a bounce, Rabbitwhisker was on her paws. She trotted to the the camp entrance, flicking her short tail. I wonder if we'll seen any of those . . . things while we're out, the warrior thought.

They were SunClan; they could drive those hyenas out! And she wouldn't need to worry at all, with her leader by her side.

Rabbitwhisker headed out into the territory with Witheredstar.

Oh, she hadn't expected to be the one choosing. Rabbitwhisker hurriedly thought of where they might go. Where had been the least hyena sightings? Or, should they go somewhere with . . . more hyena sightings? Surely not.

Rabbitwhisker realized she was kneading the ground nervously as she thought. She stopped herself, lifting a paw and shaking it. "Well, how— how about over near the Watering Hole?" the brown warrior suggested. Rabbitwhisker flicked on ear; she hadn't meant to stammer.

When Witheredstar nodded to Rabbitwhisker, indicating the she-cat take the lead, she got the sense she might be getting tested. Rabbitwhisker straightened and squared her shoulders. If she was being tested, then she would try to prove to her leader that she was a fit and able warrior.

So, she did take the lead, headed in the direction of the Watering Hole, tasting the air every now and again to check for prey nearby. She resisted the urge to fall back and let Whitheredstar take charge.

Rabbitwhisker skirted around the larger animals carefully, keeping distance between them and the cats. Then she heard a soft rustling.

Pricking her ears, Rabbitwhisker made a hesitant motion to Witheredstar so the leader would know to stop moving. She tasted the air; a furry rodent was definitely nearby. Dropping into a crouch, the warrior crept forward.

She flicked her tail to Witheredstar, signaling for the other she-cat to circle around. That way, the rodent would have less of a chance of escape.

Rabbitwhisker slowly headed toward the furry thing once Witheredstar was in position.

The warrior shot forward, spooking the rodent toward Witheredstar's claws.

Once the rodent was caught, Rabbitwhisker straightened. "Good catch!" she said, and then wondered if she was allowed to praise her leader. It was a good catch, though.

Rabbitwhisker swept her gaze around. "We can check over there next," she suggested, tipping her muzzle toward a more open patch of sunlit area.

As the she-cats padded in that direction, Rabbitwhisker kept her eyes out for any large animals coming too close.

She sniffed the air. "I'll check over here, you check over there. If that's okay," Rabbitwhisker added, twitching her bobtail. Then, she hopped to one side of the sunlit area to search for more prey.

Rabbitwhisker kept her head and tail low to stay hidden.

A beetle fluttered by her head, and she couldn't resist the urge to bat at it. She froze when she saw a gizelle lift its head to stare at her, disturbed by the movement. The warrior slowly sank back into the grass, hoping not to rile the large creature up.

The gizelle flicked its ear, shuffled its hooves, and trotted to the far edge of the sunny clearing. It then continued to munch the grass.

Rabbitwhisker curled her tail to her side. Okay, focus. Stop smacking beetles, she thought to herself sternly. Just then, a furry, earthy scent caught her nose. Rabbitwhisker turned her head, following it, seeing a small vole digging through the dirt at the base of a tree.

She crept toward it, wondering if Witheredstar had found prey yet.

Rabbitwhisker noticed movement and looked over to see Witheredstar, a ways away, headed towards her quickly. The bobtailed she-cat tipped her head, holding her prey in her mouth. The leader seemed to be hurrying; was something wrong? Rabbitwhisker's green eyes flicked about.

A lion. She could see the large feline as it stalked forward, toward the striped zebra. It wasn't too close by . . . but it was frightening enough to make Rabbitwhisker's ears flatten and her pelt prick with nerves.

As Witheredstar neared, Rabbitwhisker set her prey by her paws, nervously sniffing the air and trying to make sure the grass obscured her from the lion's possible line of sight.

She could smell the lion, of course, and the zebra, whose scent told the warrior it was unwell. She could also smell her prey and some of the dirt she had dug up, planning to bury it for later. Witheredstar's scent was coming closer as well . . . But Rabbitwhisker swore that there was another cat's scent nearby.

“Oh, Starwalker, it's you!” Rabbitwhisker was relieved. She hadn't been able to recognize the scent immediately with all the other smells crowding around. She was grateful that it wasn't any threat.

The warrior sat politely back on her hunches and kept her catch of prey at her dusty paws. She pricked her ears, hoping everything was okay back at camp.

Oh ... oh no, Rabbitwhisker thought, crouching as well and resuming her digging at the earth. She needed to bury this prey so the scent would be at least partly stifled.

Her bobtail twitched and her ears flicked. She wanted to come off as confident ... but she knew it was obvious she was scared. A lion could so easily catch all three cats ...

Don't think about that, Rabbitwhisker ordered her brain. She pawed the rodent into the shallow hole she dug and covered it with the upturned earth. Now they had to wait.

Bobbing her head in agreement, Rabbitwhisker unearthed her prey. She glanced around again, just to confirm all was safe, and then lifted the rodent by the its thin tail.

The brown and white speckled warrior padded to the edge of the grassy clearing and waited for the leader and deputy.

Rabbitwhisker had dropped her prey off on the pile, and now glanced about the clearing. Did anybody else need help with anything?

The warrior felt her ears droop a little at the thought of an immediate patrol after just getting back. Reasoning that she deserved a quick rest, Rabbitwhisker hopped on over to the warriors' den and lay outside it, curling up for a quick nap.
