Whoosh! In an act of arson, someone has poured gasoline around multiple buildings and alleys and set them ablaze. The raging fire is spreading fast and firefighters are struggling to control the inferno as it nears other structures. An evacuation order has been issued for the families of kittypets, but those without a Twoleg home are left to fend for themselves.

Ramen Noodle
| He/him | Kittypet | Moons 15 | No purrks |

Ramen Noodle was having a peaceful dream, laying in his bed, nice and cozy in his home. Dreaming about Rainpaw, and what the other had told him about the clans and the world outside of his home and into the first and wild! It was something that he had always spent time dreaming about, both actually and daydreaming, but they have gotten so much more vivid. Both wonderfully and scarily enough for him. After all Rainpaw didn't have his scars for no reason. Though little did he know that he was going to match soon. Well, match and then some probably... Though there he snoozed, unaware of the panic. Then just as you would expect the fire alarms started first!

Ramen Noodle hopped to his paws in fright, folding his ears against his skull as the sound ricocheted through his mind. Wide blue eyes whipped around the space for any reason why the sound was blaring when he had never once heard such a thing before. Sure he's heard beeping and odd sirens, but those were always distant and from cars and stuff, but he was in his home! And the sound was everywhere! What was going on?! Ramen Noodle dropped from his bed on the window sill and looked around for any signs of his twolegs, but he already knew they weren't going to show because they had already left for their daily patrolling and hunting or whatever it is that housefolk did during their day.

Smoke. He has smelt the ashy tartness of smoke before but only when his housefolk were making themselves food and something went wrong, never like this? Never so strong and potent and everywhere? His eyes traced the smoke and it was coming from a place he couldn't even tell. From under the door, from the windows... oh geez. Ramen Noodle backed up slowly, not sure of what he was doing and unable to think any one coherent and sane thought through all of the red flags and alarm bells ringing just as, if not more, loudly than the literal alarm still blaring. It was warm. Then all at once, an instinctive and primal fear and understanding awoke in him. Fire. There was a fire and it was burning down his nest, and it was... going to burn him down if he just kept standing here.

The tom whipped around towards the window he always uses to get out of the nest and races towards it. The head was ever imposing at this point, almost overwhelmingly so. Ramen Noodle crashes through the window and out onto the stairs out of it. Oh no. His eyes tracked the flames movements and it was apparent that the bottom of the stairs were laced in the flames. Housefolk built up trash and stuff in the alley was caught up and sending the flames growing at the bottom of the stairs. Okay, well its through the flames and maybe make it out or it was die anyways so uhhh... Ramen Noodle began the descent down the flight after flight. Hoping to whatever was watching above, Rainpaw wasn't at the roof of the building right now.

Okay, running through fire, there's a first for everything and Ramen Noodle hoped to everything holy that it would only happen once, Ramen did not need that to- He cried out, a sudden flaming chunk of wood - a widow silly perhaps? - dropped down and collided with his head, burning the fur as well as you know... knocking his head really hard. Ramen Noodle swayed a bit, crying out and tripping straight into the flames before he was ready to dash through. Wow, today is really not his day. Pain seared through his paws and the slightly dazed cat half ran half-toppled down the rest of the staircase. Landing at the bottom with a trip onto his face. He couldn't even feel like half his body right now... but he needs to get away. But he couldn't get his paws to move. Was he going to die here, like this? With flames so close behind him and probably half barbecued. What a silly way to go... man, he really should've kissed Rainpaw when he had the chance beca- His thoughts came to a stuttering stop and his consciousness was forcibly dragged into darkness as he passed out.
[ @Bean - Rainpaw ]
[ His paws are pretty seared, and will be mostly furless | His ear and half his face is burned and bleeding, his legs and flanks are also spotted with missing fur and burned skin. He is not a happy camper, I wonder why. Anyways come save him so he doesn't die please and thank <333 /silly /hj ]

Rainpaw
He/They - 16 Moons

[Powerplay perms for Rain to carry Ramen were given by dol]

Something was wrong. Really wrong. Rainpaw jolted up, whipping his head around as a strange scent filled his nostrils. It was hot. Too hot. His one blue eye widened as he looked down from the roof to spot FIRE! His mind whipped to ramen. Oh stars oh stars, what was he going to do!? He barely survived a flood and now a fire?? Jeez! Calm down calm down, You need to get down from here, he thought, bolting to the 'stairs' ramen had showed him, practically flying down the steps. Once he reached the bottom, he scanned the area. There was a lot of smoke. But he didn't care. He needed to fi-His mind stopped as he heard a cry. He knew that voice. "RAMEN!" he yowled, rushing in the direction of his nest. He let out a yelp as some embers seared his hind leg. He had to keep running. He had to get to ramen. Soon, a sandy pelt came into his sights. No.

Was he too late?

The one-eyed tom quickly got to Ramen Noodle's side, blue eye frantically scanning for his injuries, and stars there were a lot. But first, he had to get him out. "It's gonna be okay, Honey. I promise. I'm here, now let's get you out of here," he whispered, glancing back to the flames. They couldn't afford to stay there unless they wanted to become kitty bbq. And rain really didn't want to become barbecue. The small blue tabby picked the kittypet up by his scruff and began dragging them away from the flames, when he felt an intense pain in his hind leg. It HURT!!!! He dropped the other tom and quickly turned his head and WHAT!? FIRE ON HIS LEG!!! The exiled RiverClanner shook his leg, wincing in pain as it burned his fur. "Ow ow ow ow!!" he squeaked. As if it was instinct, he rolled around on the ground, and the pain stopped. He glanced to Ramen. ooohhh stars. Blood was dripping from their face, and fur was missing from him. "Oh no," he whispered, picking them up by the scruff and continuing to drag them away as the fired roared behind them.

Soon, the howling of the flames died down as Rainpaw made distance between them. Should be safe here, he thought, dropping the kittypet. Now, he needed to help ramen. Ignoring the pain in his leg, the tabby began to search for anything to help his friend. Cobwebs. I need cobwebs, he thought. He had seen the medicine cats use it to stop bleeding, so maybe they could help stop Ramen bleeding. He glanced back to his future husband companion before heading off in search of cobwebs. Almost as soon as he began looking, he came across some. Yes! he thought, collecting a bundle before limping back to ramen. They sat themselves down before taking some of the cobwebs they collected and pressing them gently against Ramen Noodle's open wound. Once he was done, he really didn't know what else to do but lay there beside the unconscious cat. "I'm going to make sure you're okay, Honey," he whispered."Just, Don't leave me." He let out a small hiss as he finally noticed the pain in his leg. "I'll be right back," he whispered, limping back to where he was several moments ago in search of some water to dip his leg into. And also for a drink, stars he was parched.

Seastone was sleeping as she heard screams from the humans and kitty pets, she got on high alert and got out of her home to see what was happening. As she looked around she felt her tail start to burn, she looked back at it and saw fire. "MY TAIL IS ON FIRE WHAT THE HELL!?" she yelled as she ran, getting the fire to go out by the wind, she would let it heal on her own, she knew she would have a bob tail now which would be unique and something she would remember.

She sprinted out of her home, seeing her humans outside yelling for her, with a slight purr she ran to them, seeing that the mailbox beside them was on fire, it scared her, and her owners didn't even know it was on fire, so she sprinted away, not looking back. She spotted some cats running away, one with a cat in their maw sprinting out. She had never seen that cat before, but she recognized the one that was being carried out, I think their name was ramen noodle.

Knowing that ramen noodle was safe, she went to check on him. So she sprinted towards the other cat and ramen noodle, approaching the unknown cat she flicked her tail in a faint hello. "Hey! Are y'all ok? I was sleeping! My sleep was ruined!" she said in a soft tone, as she was sprinting beside the other cats, trying her best to keep their pace, she looked Infront of her seeing the woods, she knew she would know the way back, so her humans didn't have to worry because she has went to the woods before and came back, this is just to get away from the danger until it's not dangerous anymore.

Re: In Our Homes We'll Burn [ EVENT - OPEN TO ALL ]

Max trotted through the woods, the scent of flowers surrounded him. He was soon gleefully prancing through the undergrowth, his nub of a tail twitching with excitement. A mouse scampered into his path and he crouched down, wriggling his haunches as he prepared to-

BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!

Max yelped and scrambled out of his bed. His Twolegs were groggily waking from their big bed but soon they started yowling and stomping about in a panic. Max was still trying to catch his breath among the chaos. What in the world- then he smelled it. Smoke...smoke! With a screech of panic, he pelted out of the den and down the steps to the ground floor. In his panic, he ignored his Twolegs shouting for him with outstretched hands.

He jumped through his special door and pelted to the edge of his garden. He crouched down and leapt at the white wooden border that lined the edge of his garden, but in his rush he misjudged his jump and had to scramble for the top. Once he got to his perch, he heaved a sigh, thinking he could relax. Until something unfamiliar reached for his fur. Hungry, hot flames roared from the space between his garden and the neighboring one. With a cry of surprised he hurried along the top of his border. Behind him, the flames lapped at the wood and continued to spread.

Max made his way to the side where the river was, hoping he'd be safe by the water. Once he could see it, and found a safe place to land, he leapt from his border and landed ungracefully with a grunt. Panting, he ran for the river as fast as he could. He didn't turn back until he reached a tree next to the river, feeling that he had put a safe distance between himself and the fire. But when he turned, fresh dread settled in his belly. His Twolegs had made it out safely and were running along the hard path they often went on with those big scary monster things. But he could hear their shouts of despair and panic as the fire spread to their den.

Max watched on in horror as his home began to catch fire, the glow reflecting off the white border and giving off an eery light. But there was nothing he could do... He could only sit there, shoulders hunched, and wait.

His ears swiveled when he heard another familiar sound rise above the chaos, one that set his blood running cold. One of the dogs from a nearby garden got loose. Without thinking, Max let his paws fly and carry him towards the woods. He could hear the dog barking in the distance, and just wanted to get away before it noticed him. He had traveled some of these woods before, he should be able to find his way home. Maybe... But he couldn't focus on that right now.

His heart plummeted when he saw other cats, no doubt also escaping from the flames, headed towards the woods. "RUN!" He shouted. "One of the neighbor's dogs has escaped!" He slowed as he neared them, panting heavily. Two of them looked injured. His paws danced up and down in place as he panicked. "It's still far away, but we need to hide! Quickly!"

Re: In Our Homes We'll Burn [ EVENT - OPEN TO ALL ]

Seastone was still sprinting as she heard another kitty pet yell about a dog that they need to hide from. So she ran away from the kitty pets, running to a big oak tree with a hole in it that was her den. So she ran towards it and went to the entrance. Flicking her tail to tell the other kittypets to get inside. "Get inside my den! It's plenty of room! The hole can open and close so it's like a door! The perfect hiding spot for hiding from that dog!" she said, as she watched the kittypet run inside her den.

As she was sitting in her den with the other kittypets she remembered another kittypet who was no where to be seen, raider. So she ran out of her den without saying anything, running out of the woods, not seeing the dog. She sprinted towards raider's house, she saw his humans outside, watching her run in. She looked around for him, while flames touched her flank. "RAIDER IT'S ME SEASTONE! I'M COMING TO GET YOU!" she said as she kept looking around until she saw a cat hiding in a corner. She sprinted towards him grabbing the cat by the fur and sprinting out while flames touched her back legs, she was hurting like crazy but she had to get this kittypet to safety.

She looked at the cat's humans and ran away, not seeing the dog. She sprinted for her den, paws getting pricked by splinters, she winced but she had to get raider to her den. As she got to her den she pushed the door open, running inside to the other kittypets and sitting raider down, shutting the door.

I HAVE MY SHADOWS AND MY COLORS
AND THERE IS THE SMELL OF TIME PASSING
── ⋅ ⋅ ── ☽ ── ⋅ ⋅ ──
JIN . 20 MOONS . HE/HIM . LONER
BEWITCHED

The air is thick with the smoke that rolls off of that distant growing blaze, and Jin is praying to something without a name. It's not that he's ever been a believer in anything—certainly not in the benevolence of a higher power or his own faceless ancestors—, only that he knows there's little else that can protect him at the moment if not a miracle.

Gravelly Waypoint is abuzz, prey scattering through the trees, racing along the tracks. He's sure he spied larger animals in flight, too, before ducking under cover; families of deer and stray dogs all tearing through the brambles and the weeds to someplace safer. Someplace he cannot follow. The flames aren't visible yet, not out here on the fringes of twolegplace with the coverage of trees that have yet to be eaten through by great tongues of flame, but all signs point to the fire's imminent arrival. Jin's parked himself in the dark storm drain at one end of his territory, paws and belly and tail all wet with run-off.

This is all he can do for himself. This, and empty prayer.

In the dark, he wonders what could have happened. He knows, sometimes, that brush might catch fire if dry and hot enough. He's been told that lightning can do it, too. And of course, Jin knows that twolegs can cause fire. He's watched young ones twist their odd, meaty paws and plant their flames on the tracks from time to time, lighting up sticks and pieces of unknowable garbage. They'd always hoot and squawk and delight in it before stomping the light out, leaving char marks on the splintered tracks.

He wonders who's delighting in this. He wonders if they'll remember to stomp it out before the fire can come and get him. Jin tries to find comfort in knowing that the fire hasn't reached this far yet, that there's still ample time for something...anything to tame it. Squash it, kill it, eat it.

And if it doesn't...if it comes, Jin knows it'll kill. He just doesn't know if it'll kill him any faster or kinder than leaving this place would.

Bayberry had been sleeping. Not a useless house toy, mind you, the 36 moon old was a self sufficient beast, fearless and proud. So take that. Green eyes stung behind her eyelids, and a familiar smell hit her nostrils. The cooking gray fumes had her leaping to her paws. Smoke. And where there was smoke, there was her worst enemy.

Fire.

But without thinking Bayberry found herself hurdling toward the scent, instead of away. She wasn’t sure why. It was clear that there was a disaster going on. Fire. Screaming, from both cats and two legs alike. Crap. A thin his escaped from her slightly parted jaws, breathing in the hot smoky air and holding back coughs. A small squeal caught her attention however. Raising her head and ears perked, alerted by the sound. She flicked her tail to and fro. It appeared she was a tad older than most cats on the scene. With a thin snarl, she realized the sound was a kitten. Stars dang it! Kits didn’t belong here. Not in a twoleg nest nor in a fire. The bengal then glanced around. Nobody else moved in retaliation to the cry for help. Idiots. And so, Bayberry was dragged into the problems of others. Again. Barreling toward the flames, her green eyes narrowed against the smoky sting. Up the burning hot rock steps. Toward the sound.

A queen. A loud groan from above. Raising her head, the feline saw a bit too late the brick falling. No, no, not the queen, not the queen! Bayberry was about to ram into the feline but the brick was falling a mouse length away. Good. She directed her fiersome gaze at the struggling queen. “Where the hell are The other ones?” She hissed, tail lashing. “Just go. Down the steps, they’re hot so watch your paws. I’ll get the kits.” if surviving on nothing else it appeared her sheer willpower was All it would take. “Anyone else in here?” She yowled around the commotion and the cannibalistic flames licking around them.

Strawberry raced down as intructed. "There's one more! It's a black she-kit with a ginger tail!" Strawberry wailed, "I can't reach her! The wooden board fell over my nest and shes behind it!" Strawberry fearfully wailed, licking at her other kit who was completely ginger with some black and white streaks. "She here! I think Mango made it out" Strawberry fretted, racing through the flames to check, once spotting a ripped hole in the window Strawberry had confirmed it. "Mango!? Oh good! Stay with Bluebell while we get Blackberry out!" Strawberry called out to the black and orange tom who was panting beside the kit, sniffing it worridely. "Get him some cold water moss and wrap him in it!" Strawberry ordered her mate, seeing him do so Strawberry leapt back towards the fallen wood. "It's ok Blackberry!" Strawberry meowed calmly as her kit wailed, "Mom's here to get you out, don't be panicked, mom brought a friend who's here to help get you out, don't be scared! I know its hot but we'll take a nice cold bath right after ok?! Blackberry!?" Strawberry meowed, her mews struggling to stay calm and she realized her kit had stopped wailing.

]A feeble cough was heard before there was silence. Strawberry couldn't bear it though she knew what had happened already. "Blackberry! Blackberry please! Respond to me! I'm here to get you out hold on a little longer! Please!" Strawberry coughed as she smoke filled her lungs, her and the kits had been sleeping, Strawberry had went on a walk while they napped and suddenly came back to flames engulfing her home. Bluebell had already made it halfway out, and in her haste to check him she was delayed on checking his sister...... was this the outcome? It wasn't favoritism!! She loved them the same!! Strawberry could smell the burning scent of flesh as a large crash was heard, she didn't even move as she wood fell over her kit. Trying to scramble over the burning wood Strawberry's paws began to burn and blood fell from her paws, her fur singed and her eyes wide, a wordless wail came from her as she fell back as another piece of wood fell plainly onto her kit. Would I be better off dead? I'm a horrible mother.... I left one kit for another... how could I have forgotten a kit?! I'm so stupid... Bluebell doesn't deserve me... neither does Mango.. I can't even care for one kit how can I live? Strawberry frantically thought, frozen in place with horror as her daughters burnt smelling body was slowly filling the room, the scent of fresh blood making Strawberry gag on sight. A small pool of blood seeped out from under the wood, not adding anything good to her already terrified, frozen, wide eyed state.

Mango looked up in confusion. "To your den....... what..." He meowed, fluffing out his black and orange fur as he stepped over his kit and looked at the random she-cat with a narrowed red gaze. "What den? Who are you......" He growled carefully. Mango realized this cat was safe, picking up his kit he looked behind him frantically, as they got to the den and Bluebell was placed down Mango meowed. "Please... can you care for my sons wounds? His ears and badly messed up and his fur is signed...... he's coughing and i'm afraid his little lungs can't take it." Mango fretted, his eyes glancing at the entrance as if he expected someone to barge through any moment now. "His name is Bluebell, my name is Mango. What's yours." Mango formally introduced despite his shaky and burnt looking self, he ignored his singed fur and blinked blood away that trickled from a slash on his forehead. He had cuts all over his body and glass stuck in his fur and skin from when he broke out of the window.

Seastone huffed and puffed as she got to the den, she couldn't save anymore cats as it was to late for alot. So she sat down on some ferns as she saw the tom who followed her to her den sit down his kit Infront of her. She looked at the kit, seeing injuries of all sorts, she heard the kit coughing, it broke her heart, but she knew this kit was lucky to be alive, and that it was all that mattered. She looked back up at the cat who's name was mango. "I'm Seastone, nice to meet you. Your kit seems like he will live, maybe a little bit of smoke in his lungs, it shouldn't hurt him enough to kill him, I will take care of him, I promise he's ok with me. I cant go out and save anymore cats as I'm out of breathe. So this is a good way to relax." she said with a grin.

She grabbed the kit and put him closer to her pelt to get warm, then she started to lick him on the spots where he was wounded. She felt so bad for the little kit but also was happy that he was safe, unlike his other sibling who unfortunately died. She kept licking the kit softly, as the kit finally started to calm down and knew it was safe with her. "Dont worry little one, your safe and sound with me." the she said with a soft tone as she was looking down at the kit.

Mango nodded gently, looking over his kit anxiously, licking his own pelt clean he kept a protective eye in his kit. "Bluebell seems to like you" Mango observed gently, sniffing his kit. He gently took Bluebell from Seastone, flicking his ears as he layed out some cold moss, placing his kit on it Mango gently curled around Bluebell, nuzzling the kit gently as he closed his eyes and seemed to let out a long held in sigh. Bluebell stopped squirming and rested against his fathers fur as the cold moss helped his heated body cool down

Re: In Our Homes We'll Burn [ EVENT - OPEN TO ALL ]

She lay fast asleep, the gentle lull of a music box ringing through the room; her favourite blankets surrounded her, near her favourite place by the window. Winter had left, with summer come as the flowers stood in bloom, reviving the world and thus many feline's joy. But Snowdrop dreamed of elsewhere; she dreamed of those cold, winter months. Playing in the snow, creating angel, and watching the first of her namesake growing the white coldness when spring made its announcement - her dreams vivid as they always were, and this time in the company of one who she had seen before. The faceless cats that haunt her dreams were no more, lessened to scarce apparitions and instead replaced by the welcoming presence of this little boy who thought her sent from the stars. Her friend, her companion; she enjoyed his presence, whether it was silent or not, because she could see his face. She could see the change of expressions as they paraded through the worlds created by her mind, as if she could tell what he was thinking. He was nice, and he wasn't scary. She liked spending her dreams with him, opposed to being haunted the faceless.

But as they often say, all good things must come to an end. The summer months, one would notice, bring much and many warmth to the homes of the twolegs especially if cooling is not installed; and sometimes, with that warmth, comes tragedy. For one must remember that she is a being of snow, one more comfortable during the months snowy leafbare than the warm summer days. Because snow melts under the scorching of the sun, and this snow angel was about to face that fate.

She hadn't realised when her home went up in flames. She hadn't realised when the flames grew closer and stronger, engulfing every room and burnable object. She hadn't realised when panic broke loose all who could escaped, because she could not escape. She was within her world of dreams, a pleasant place, soon to turn into a nightmare as monsters of fire began to etch at her vision and burn and stain and pristine snow-white pelt covered in those russet little spots. She squirmed, uncomfortably, her pleasant dreamscape soon overtaken by that of a nightmare, unknowingly kicking off her blanket as it quickly caught fire, the flames crackling around her.

There she saw him, one last time. Her friend surrounded by the evil fires of mind, his panicked face just before the young kitten awoke in a start, the screams of panic and fear suddenly evident - the smell of smoke suffocating her lungs, the heat of the fire prickling her fur. She could barely say a word, heavy fits of coughing pushing through her lungs as panic seeped through her every sense. And just as she turned around, her voice trying to raise through smoke-filled lungs and eyes trying to see through the burning hot fires it happened -- a large piece of wood, flames eating away at it's every spot, come loose through those very fires flung down for the ceiling and slammed against the kitten's open eyes, the skin around burning under the wood's flames. Snowdrop, knocked off her paws, writhed in pain as her painful screams and cries filled the air around her; lost in a sudden, onset darkness, the burns simultaneously forcing her eyes open and closed, a young winter-made kitten lost in the fire, doomed to melt.

Inferno's eyes darted around at the blaze surrounding him, turning into wild and fearful ones as he realized he was trapped. He needed to move, now. He leapt as fast and far as he could over the blaze, lightly burning his stomach as he suddenly collided with the cabinet of his humans house and immediately began leaving as fast as he could.

Duck
Former TC ~*~ Kittypet
OPEN
The cream-colored tom sat with his tail laying across his paws on the plush seat of his Twoleg's nest (couch). A warm purr thumbed in his throat as his watched his Twoleg peacefully drift off to sleep. She had been leaving him alone more frequently and she had been coming back more exhausted than ever. He was worried about her. Often time she'd stay up late staring at her glowing box (TV) or her none glowing box (book). Tonight had been no different. She still had so much to learn. Duck felt a tinge of pride as he watched her. She seemed to have grown up an awful lot since she had first rescued him from his catnapers. He shook his head as he laid it down on his front paws. Taking care of a Twoleg was a lot of work.
BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP
His head shot up, ears twitching a hiss escaping his throat. Shock reached creeping cold fingers around his mind. Fortunately, old warrior instincts worked their wonder and forced him to his feet. He felt his Twoleg shake and move underneath him. She pushed him off balance and he landed with a thump on the floor. “What is that!” The sound made his voice seem so small that even if she had been able to understand him Duck doubted she would have.
His Twoleg swept him up by the scruff and began carrying him out. At this point in his kittypet career he was used to being picked up by her, but never had she held him so tightly or moved so fast with him. He felt her heartbeat rapidly. This mousebrained noise was scaring her! He purred and licked her hand, two things which usually helped but she didn’t even look down. His tail flicked back and forth as he trained his green eyes on her worried face. What did this noise mean?
He didn’t have to wait too long for an answer. When his Twoleg opened the door to their room thick hot smoke came rushing in. It took up space greedily trying to force its way down his throat. Duck coughed and choked. He heard his Twoleg doing the same. One word entered the scrambled mess that was his mind. Fire. His Twoleg fell to her knees. Pain flared up his back but he ignored it. You can’t stop now! You have to escape! He wriggled in her grip and started licking her face. “Get up! Get up!” She wheezed something at him in Twoleg and then set him down. He felt weight on his collar as she began to crawl. He suspected she meant to drag him with her, but he trotted alongside her so she never got the chance. “We’re going to make it.”
They crept like that down the hallway. Duck checked their surroundings, but he couldn’t see the source of the blaze. The pressure on his collar slackened, she needed both hands to keep going now. Her labored breathing made Duck forget about his own. He brushed his tail along her side. “Just a little more I promise.”
They made it to the Twoleg slope (stairs). Duck knew that after descending from these, getting out would be as easy as walking forward. They truly were almost there! As they made it to the first step, Duck felt hope begin to rise in his chest. They could do it! Crack. Duck swung his head toward the source of the sound. Crack, crack. His Twoleg looked down beneath her as the old wood of the slope was beginning to give way. She tried to scramble forward, but it was too late. Crash! There was a sickening thud and a yelp as his Twoleg fell downwards. He was left staring blankly at the empty spot in the floor.
BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP
No no no. “No!” He rushed to lean in and, peering through the hole, he saw his Twoleg rubbing her head, and getting up. She looking shaky, but she seemed alright.
Relief washed over him like a waterfall. He rushed down the slope, faster even then he ran when he heard his kittypet food being poured. Be ok. Be ok. Be ok. He made it to the bottom and whirled around the corner. Red hot pain seared his paws. He stumbled back yelping and gasping for breath. He had just walked straight into fire. The pain didn’t stop. He looked down expecting to see himself on fire, but he didn’t. He fell back onto his rump the pain subsided a bit but didn’t stop. He looked towards the inferno that stood between him and his Twoleg. How could he save her like this?
His eyes drifted towards the front door standing inches away. He couldn’t leave but, maybe if some Twoleg or cat heard him they could come to his rescue? He grit his teeth. It’s for her. He got up on his feet with a yelp, and scurried towards his door (the cat door). He stuck his head out. “Help! Help!” He yowled as loud as he could. He just hoped any passerby would be able to hear him over the constant noise.

Max fought back panic, but he nodded at the other cat and followed, trying to help the other cats as much as possible. Once they were settled, the cat that led them there raced off again. He jumped to his paws but stopped. Someone needed to stay and guard their hiding spot, and the injured cats who sheltered there now.

He let out a quiet hiss of frustration. This whole thing made him feel useless. He slashed at the ground with claws unsheathed, then took a breath. He looked to the other cats in the hiding spot. "Is everyone here in one piece?" He asked. He could hear the barking in the far distance, but it sounded like Twolegs were running after it to try and control it again. It may not end up being a threat in the first place, but it would probably be best to remain hidden until it was controlled.

Scrappish

[note: Scrappish uses a word called "Dyableman", which is a lesser swear that means "Danged"; its a word i picked up from a book called pax! also scrappish is character im gonna try to write emotions with :3 ]
Scrappish rolled over in his nest. Mission go-to-heckin-bed seemed to have failed, and at this point all hope was lost. He'd always recognize when he was finally starting to sleep, and then he'd think: 'Wooo!', in turn, waking him up. Scrappish let out a hefty sign, just laying there like an extra deflated pancake. Maybe he should go ask around for help, specifically with the words "How do i sleep, please, i beg, on my knees, screaming crying begging how do i sleep?". But who would listen to him? No-one. Maybe he should eat something. He sure could do with a sandwich right no- Scrap shot right up with a "nyahahaahahaggaagga huh what?" in startle as a ringingbeepingannoying sound pierced they're ears, making them want to literally explode on the spot. A foreign scent, trailed from somewhere, and cheerily grazed his nostrils. A memory decided it didn't like being in a grave anymore. When he'd newly been brought home from the shelter, and had immediately settled down like he was the one paying rent, one of his two humans had gotten their grubby little raccoon-like hands on a weird, metallic sheet of a material that was atrociously wrinkled. The little human had seemed rather ecstatic, leaving the little magical glowing rectangle of nightmares, fever dreams and everything in between just moments before retrieving the curious sheet of soft-metal. At first, little baby Scrappish hadn't though much of it: humans being humans, and just continued digging in his litterbox to bury his prey of the sandwich he sneakily robbed. But then, when he was almost finished, he'd heard the little child scream. The little kitten had immediately darted over; he may not act like it around them, but he really cared about his human. Only to see the crumpled sheet in a ball form, inside the cooking square of human magic, sparking violently and the child sobbing. Their mother had come, hearing the commotion, and turned the magic box of cooking off. The soft metal sheet inside had stopped kindling. She'd opened the rectangular box, and a gas had burst out, with the same scent he was smelling now. Then the bigger human had given the smaller human a very, very long lecture about something he couldn't understand in an oddly serious voice. But Scrappish had barely paid any attention, he was trembling violently at why the spark in the magical box had scared his humans so much.

Scrappish smelled the same scent the weird, sparking orange's gas had given off. He felt his heart rate pump faster, adrenaline shooting to his head as he remembered his human's (Scrappish liked latching onto one person at a time, it made it easier to deal with humans he didn't like, the solution being to run to his favorite human.) shouts and sobs, and their mother in the strict, angry voice, waving hands and talking at lightning speeds to her child. "Elfin!" His first thought was to call his human's name. Scrappish only knew a few human words; his name, his humans name, and a variety of other common phrases they used to attempt to communicate to him. The hit of sudden cortisol and worry, mixing with his already beating heart, made him frantic. He scrambled out of his nest, calling his human's name over and over again as he searched the entire apartment. And then, as though from a very long distance away, "B-But Mommy! Please! He's o-our cat - We can't just leave him!". A responding, rather pissed off sounding response said something along the lines of "cats are smart" with the tiniest note of sarcasm.

As he bolted towards where he thought the sound came from, out the door, into the hallway, the boards beneath Scrappish' paws seemed to be ten times as creaky, and every sound seemed to be amplified to the max, even though he could barely hear them over the blaring siren coming from above. He was running, running like his life depended on it, when suddenly everything, the floors, the walls, the roof - everything - turned black. The first thought of indignation to shoot through his head was: 'Oh great dyableman! Come on, i can't be dead already! I'm like, what? Two days old? I was born yesterday, yeah, yesterday, you can trust me on that one'. And the next thought was him realizing: you most likely couldn't think if you were dead. Scrappish was stunned for a moment. This was the sheet-gas, and from what he could smell, it was all around him. But this one was blackish grey, and was coiling around him like his litter pebbles around a buried sanwich. Scrappish took the time to be momentarily distracted by the thought of a sandwich. In his trance state of "sandwich", he took a step.

Weakened floorboards snapped beneath his paws, and for a moment, he felt his front paws plunge down and his hind-legs dragged along. He had barely a moment to process it, so he was mostly confused when he started plunging down. What was this weird feeling? What was going on? But when it hit him, it him rather hard. Scrappish yowled with fear and pain as he whacked into melting, metal stairs and fire licked at his thin fur and tail. The heat was unbearable, and breathing felt equivalent to climbing a mountain, even though he felt as if he'd need to take gasps upon gasps to get the horrid, somewhat doo-doo smelling smoke out of his lungs. A handrail stabbed right into the space between his shoulder-blade and his fur. And even if just for a moment, it hurt. He'd never felt pain like this; so potent that it might just block the blood to his heart, so clear and tingly that he might just stop breathing, so fierce that it felt like that even if he escaped and found his human again, even if everything stopped doing whatever it was doing at the moment, even if he felt like he lived up to his human's parent's standards and she'd stop hitting him, the spot would still hurt as though a trillion ants crawled right into the triangular alleyway between his shoulder and pelt, and were tearing his very fibre from his flesh, and all he could do was grunt and try to cram it all in the weak sound. He was still reeling as he used his instinctively used his hindlegs to free his stabbed shoulder from the rail, and tumbled further down the still-burning staircase.

He was close to blacking out. Scrappish had noticed blood welling up furiously by his shoulder, and the pain hadn't gotten anymore better, if only worse. Scrappish realized something. He wanted to have an existential crisis, let his emotions develop him through it, but he didn't have the time for that. He flashed through as many memories as possible, as though to carry them with him after he passed, so fast and fiercely that he didn't notice his spine arching and his body twisting so his paws were aimed at the ground. He felt himself crying as he plummeted, and he let his tears come, even though it was probably just the smoke flooding into his hues. Scrappish couldn't think, some part of him wanted to scream his humans name just before he hit the ground, just to go out dramatically, but his brain would not comply. He didn't even muster getting a sound out of his maw as he smashed violently into the ground, his hindleg letting out such a crack, as though it'd become one of the floorboards above. His mind rippled with furious pain, every single cell screaming so loud he felt he could barely hear his own thoughts that had started rapidly rolling in. 'Is Elfin alright? I hope she's alright. I hope her mother burned though, burned through and through... but Elfin wouldn't like that. Would she like that i died? Her dyableman mother would though.' He could barely muster to think, his scorched body occupying most of his mind's attention. But he demanded it. He needed it. He needed all the attention now; his human always gave it to him, why couldn't Scrappish give it to him? He forced his maw and his larynx open, even though it caused such a rivet of pain in his seared lips, and his throat felt as though fire (suddenly, he had a name for the thing) was inside him.

"EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLFFFFFIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINNNN NNNN!"

Scrappish shrieked as loud as he could, imagining an epic theme song playing . But maybe all along.. maybe falling and having your house burn down....

Maybe it was just a skill issue

Seastone was still worked up, happy to feel a kit on her fur. She then let out a little disappointed purr in protest of the kit being took away from her, she knew it was someone else's, and she knew she had basil. so she looked over at overwhelmed basil in the corner, so she called out to her. "Basil! over here, everything is ok." she said with a firm tail flick, beckoning basil to come to her. She didnt know most of these cats, so she was protective of basil because of how many cats there were, it probably got basil's anxiety all the way up to skyclan.

RAIDER
This Ray of Sunshine
// Kittypet // He/Him // 17 Moons // Aro //

Act I, Scene I — The Flames

Raider lay on a windowsill, his Twolegs banging around inside his house, resting in the late afternoon sunshine. Everything was peaceful, and quiet. Everything was comfy, and Raider expected his dinner would be delivered in the porch in a little bit. Not that he enjoyed his dinner. The new crunchy pellets he got lately tasted a little bit like grass. Ray didn’t like the taste of grass. He liked peanut butter. yes. Peanut butter. What a yummy thing, that. Maybe He would get some!

WeeOOooOOh. WeeOOooOOh. Ray’s head snapped up. Siren? he sniffed the air. Smoke?! Raider stood up and bounded across his garden. He looked out over the neighborhood, and with alarm noticed gray mist rising from some houses not far down. Ray peered over into his friend Ramen Noodle’s house. No lights shone. “His house folk must have already noticed,” Raider said to himself, then OOP—he fell off the fence into Ramen’s garden. “Oof..” he grumbled, then stood up and OH—stared right into a blazing wall of flames.

Ray scrambled back from the blazing hydrangeas, panting with fear. His black, fluffy fur stood on end, and his wide paws got stuck in the tough dirt. Raider sprinted and flung himself into the next yard; Duck’s. More flames licked at the grass, and Ray screeched as a dog barked in the next garden. Ray squeezed under the fence and ran back towards his house—but two dogs took to his heels and chased Ray up a tree.

“Help! Help!” Ray yowled; the flames crackling around him. Embers flew into Raider’s eyes, and he started to shake with fear. He saw Annie, his favorite of his housefolk, the youngest, sprint into their monster. “Annie! Annie!” but she didn’t hear. Her parents gig in and shut the doors, and his housefolk rode their monster away.

What the hell? APPARENTLY, some weak little kitty whiskers was basically immune to fire and took the kit before she could. What the... no time for that. The fire Scorched her fur, singed her paws, scraped her paws, hurt her nose. But she couldn't get out from here. Hungry flames blocked the way. All the ways. Except up. Jacking ferociously, she climbed up the scorching stairs, ignoring the pain. Her eyes stung horribly, and her pelt was covered in soot. But that didn't matter right now. She had to find a way to get out. Had to help the cats still in the building. Had to help. Her thin breaths couldn't stop her, it was like she was undaunted by anything around her. She just had to get up. Third floor. "Ay! Whose left in here! I'm here, let me hack help you!" Her rough and Scorched voice broke off in a chorus of coughs and hacks. But she wouldn't be helped. Wouldn't accept it. She was a lone wolf. She didn't need anyone. She was able to help herself. And others. Thay was it.

A yowl caught her attention. Her narrowed watery eyes flicked toward where the noise was coming from. A yowling. Limbs tense, she approached the stairs. The flaming stairs. Okay, uhm... preparing herself, Bayberry leaped onto the hot metal stair rail. She raced down, ignoring the searing pain. Toward a yard. But there was fire blocking her path. Oh, dear. What was she supposed to do? Panting hard now, Bayberry closed her eyes and managed by some miracle to jump to the side and ricochet around the flames, rolling in the grass until until halted beside the kittypet. Alright, uhm. Figure it out. "Oi! The names hack cough wheeze Bayberry! Trust me. I'll get you out." Her green eyes faced the burning fence. Approaching it, she shoved each post that wasn't on fire at the base. Nope. Nope. Nope. It moved! But moving it would cause the whole fence to fall... alright. Sucking in a breath, she turned to the cat. "slam into the fence. Go in front of me. The fence will fall, and you're too weak to deal with it, ya get me? So do as I say and you'll live."

Re: In Our Homes We'll Burn [ EVENT - OPEN TO ALL ]

NathanielKittypet Healer & Rhiannon Kittypet Queen

It'd been a gentle and calm night, the night that the world ended.

Rowan and Fog had settled in to Caduceus Place for an evening under Rushwaters supervision, probably pulling double duty in entertaining the still movement limited Eaglepaw and driving both displaced riverclan cats mad. Freed from the more rambunctious kittens the two parents had been confident in leaving the others at home, under care of the twolegs for the night. And so the two parents had set out for a rare night alone, no work or children or other focus on their mind for a walk in the nearby glade, just them.

It was little things like this that kept the relationship alive between the two, and the mates loved their little harmless trips.

Not so harmless tonight however, though realization had come far to late.

It was walking back that the two had first spotted the smoke, arching up into the air at mass with the eerie orange glow below it that spoke of danger. And it was with a cold sinking feeling, akin to plunging into icy waters, that the two realized the smoke was over their home.

The two ran as one, minds racing with fear as they yelled between eachother frantic over their kittens.
"It looks like it hasnt spread to the park so they should be safe but Snowdrop!"
"I know love, we can find her and you have herbs to heal, we just need to get to her but- was Ginger at home too or not?!"
"I- I dont know..."
The two fell silent terrified picked up the pace to be even faster somehow despite already sprinting, turning corner to see the worst.

Their home was ablaze, twolegs outside and wailing in their strange tongue, flames licking out the door suggesting that all within was consumed.

Neither parent hesitated.

As Rhiannon checked room by room, nabbing items of importance while looking for Ginger, not even knowing if she was here, Nathaniel went straight to every spot Snowdrop lingered, screaming desperately the entire time.
"Snowdrop! SNOWDROP!! WHERE ARE YOU BABY PAPA'S HERE!!! PLEASE CALL OUT, WE'RE GONNA GET YOU OUT OF HERE!!"
She wasnt by the window she basked in, or under the bed where she hid when scared and panic rose as Nathaniel coughed harshly from the smoke that he was too late, much much too late, and she was already gone in the inferno.

The scream was a relief even as it was the most terrifying sound the father had ever heard. The tom quickly honed in to the sound, dashing into the room as his eyes burned from the heat, feeling whiskers singe as he passed a flame, and came upon his child. She was hurt and the healer in him already started churning, instinctively knowing the damage would be forever, but was quickly quashed by the father who needed to act.

Without a word Snowdrop was grabbed by her scruff, no time for gentleness in this end of the world, and the tom bolted out of this crumbling room. Nathaniel had her, now they just all needed to escape the fire now.

@Estelle @Morrigan (if you want ginger to be in the fire and be saved by rhiannon just drop her in, otherwise we can say she was at Caduceus Place with the other sibs and rush/eagle which is safe from the fire.) @redshiftreign @Mica (if you wanna have your cats notice and/or try and go help)

It's not all bad. The spiders here in the drain tunnel don't seem bothered by the sting of smoke in the air, or by Jin's intrusion into their dark, dank home. He can hear strange wailing in the distance, something different from the normal clamor of twolegplace. Like the shriek of some giant bird. He wonders if there'll be anyone left for him to ask about it in the coming days—if he makes it, anyway.

Cautious, the tom inches to one open end of the tunnel, cobwebs catching in his thick sodden tail and droopy whiskers. The sky is a color he's never seen it, ominously aglow behind a veil of smog. Fear squeezes tightly in his chest. Even from here, he can see the heart of that alarming glow dancing beyond the trees. Gravelly Waypoint is yet untouched, but the distant blaze is visible now as it starts to eagerly eye the treeline at the other side of the woods.

Jin's nauseous as he ducks back into his cover, swallowing hard to dislodge his heart from his throat. Even if he's left untouched, who knows when the prey will come back to this place once the fire is dead? Who knows what'll be left for the prey to return to? Would it matter at all that he survived this, if his home was burnt to the ground?

Burnt to the ground. Eaten up. Gone.

Jin twitches, jolted by a pang of manic hope. Like any caged animal, he's about to start acting out. What if the fire's done it? What if I'm allowed out, now? Whatever intangible force it is that ties him to Gravelly Waypoint has never been breakable in the past, but then, Jin's never had fire dropped onto it.

He'll learn that he's wrong to assume that this changes anything soon enough. That horrible optimism still has him by the throat, has him veering out of the tunnel and splashing his frantic retreat down the line of a long, winding ditch. A mad dash toward freedom. For a blessed moment, the adrenaline carries; he feels just fine.

It won't last.

Being limited in her movement sucked. Though, Nathaniel's family visited her semi-frequently, and Rushwater was always around to entertain her. Eaglepaw had never known him to be very expressive--hell, she hadn't really known him at all due to him being missing for her entire childhood--but he seemed intent on keeping her spirits up. She had a suspicion that it helped him too.

Eaglepaw had been enjoying a quiet night outside of the den, watching the new members of their little... place, or whatever it was. She refused to interact with them, since they were also displaced RiverClan cats. She wanted to avoid RiverClan whenever possible. Her dream with Dusklion still haunted her, both positively and negatively.

It started slowly. The sky gradually changed color; from a deep blue to a sickly grey and orange. Eaglepaw watched it, brows furrowed in confusion. Was this a thing that happened in the Twoleg place? She had heard that the stars didn't come out as often, since StarClan was hiding from the Twolegs. But she had never seen this before. It took several heartbeats, but eventually Eaglepaw's large ears picked up a strange noise in the distance, coming from the many buildings that closed off one side of the green-space Nathaniel's healing den was in.

Beep. Beep. Beep. ... Beep. Beep. Beep.

Eaglepaw pushed herself unsteadily to her paws, putting limited weight on her injured front left leg. Now that she was moving out from under the wooden bridge over the stream, Eaglepaw could see just how light the sky had gotten, as though the sun was rising early. But the acrid, cloying scent that drifted over the park foretold danger. Eaglepaw had never seen fire before, nor smelled smoke. But it didn't take experience to know that something was wrong. Very, very wrong.

Beep. Beep. Beep.

The wailing from the Twoleg dens grew louder as more and more alarms went off, the fire licking up gasoline-painted walls and consuming the soft, dry insides of the apartments. Eaglepaw stared in horror at the dens, watching the flames climb higher and higher. Twolegs were running around, giant, bright red monsters with blinding lights screaming down the small Thunderpaths towards the dens. Eaglepaw shrank back as Twolegs raced by, wailing in unfamiliar tongues.

Then she saw the cats. Covered in soot and burns, they rushed for the bridge. Eaglepaw gasped, stumbling back a step before making a beeline for the den. She tore the blankets--that's what Nathaniel called them--from her nest, dragging them out onto the dry bank of the stream and laying them out. She cleared the den of the larger blankets, making room for Nathaniel to work while creating a broader space outside where they could accommodate more cats. She didn't dare touch his herb storage. She had been trhough this twice before. Crises, that is. She knew what to do.

Eaglepaw limped out of the den and up onto the bridge, taking a deep breath to steel herself against the pain coming. "OVER HERE!!" She cried, voice cracking from disuse over the last moon. "IT'S SAFE HERE!" Pain bloomed across her heavily-bandaged maw, and she gasped as stars sparkled in her vision. But she pushed past it. "UNDER THE BRIDGE!!"

Purpose. She had purpose now. And she wouldn't let it go to waste. She hadn't been able to follow her dream of becoming RiverClan's medicine cat apprentice, but she could help the kittypets and outsiders.

Ginger
Kittypet

Ginger had always been a restless kit. Though, obedient, her curiosity could not be contained so she often found herself silently stalking her home in the cover of darkness. Familiarising every nook and cranny a million times over until she'd discovered all the secrets that were to be found. But surely there was more to learn? Sleep was a challenge but evening was an adventure.

Small pawpads tapped softly against the wooden floors as the kitten explored the well known apartment. Peering around every corner with the hope to find something new. Weaving around the dozens of toys scattered about as to not wake her sister. Round blue eyes glowed as she chased shadows. Nothing more intresting to study this time, all she could do was revert back to her usual midnight wanders. But this was activity was growing a bit tedious.

Moonlight illuminated the russet kittypet as she quietly frolicked through her home. Pausing for a moment, she blinked inquisitively at a small flicker of fire drifting ominously through the light breeze that managed to find it's way into the apartment. What was this strange thing? Fascinated by the floating ember, Ginger idly reached out a slim paw to bat it, only to flinch back with a shocked hiss of pain. Tears threatened to spill as she gazed in horrified bewilderment at the burning red mark that scored her tender paws.

Breath quickening, an obscure change it her cozy home was suddenly made painfully obvious. The air was carrying wisps of smoke and the pale, cool shine of the moon was replaced by a sickly orange lustre. Uncannily similiar ginger fur bristled in panic at the danger promising sight. Feeble claws slid out for the first time as the kitten shakily turned her head in the direction of the plume. Flames had consumed the door already and were hungry for more.

A small gasp could be heard as snitten witnessed the uncaring blaze devour everything in it's path. Her whole world was being burned down in a psychedelic haze. Backing up in a hurried panic was one of the first things she did as flames roared and unnatural noises blared around her. It was spreading quicker than she could think. Choking on smoke and stumbling around blindly. Chaos was dominant, peace nonexistent. Sparks assulted her without mercy in a burning frenzy, clinging to her soft pelt as she tried desperately to ward them off.

Droplets of water dripped down her face but were futile in subdueing the heat that surronded her on all sides. Calm demeanour completely destroyed in this nightmare; Ginger's mind was in shambles. Shrieks of terror joined her own in chorus, belonging to Snowdrop who unfortunately was suffering this pain as well. Frantic pale blue orbs scanned in vain for her littermate. All she could hear was screams. How could this happen on such a peaceful night? Why was such torment forced upon the kittens? The answers were all unknown and would remain that way unless she survived.

The snitten's saviours arrived after what seemed like eternity. The fume disfigured sight Rhiannon was a beam of light among the raging inferno. Rasping sobs left the kitten's smoke damaged throat as she floundered towards her mother in anguish. Sinking into her snowy white fur upon contact. Sniffling and forcing out pained mews "Mama!" Everything hurt. Some stray embers still clung to her russet pelt as she wept. She was overwhelmed by this ongoing experience. All she wanted was tranquility and to be freed from this scorching pain.

Duck

Former TC ~*~ Kittypet
He didn't have to wait too long before two cats approached him. He could feel the heat building behind him. Duck stared wide-eyed at the brown cat as he spoke. This cat was trying to lead him away! They didn't understand! He stayed firmly where he was, trying to ignore the pain in his pads. "I-I can't leave! My Twoleg! She's still in there!" His voice was cracking and wheezing. The effort it had taken to call over the sound mixed with the smoke he had inhaled was wearing it down.
He looked at both cats with large pleading green eyes. "We can't leave her! You have to help me save her!" He turned his head around, trying to go back inside to save her regardless of what the other two did. He yelped and stumbled back through his door (cat door). The fire had gotten closer than he had expected. It was almost completely engulfing the entrance of his house. He wracked his brain. There was a way to save Lily. There was. He would find it. He just had to think.
Crash! He yelped. It sounded like parts of his house were caving in. The thought, made tears begin to well up in the edges of his eyes. It really was all being destroyed. He shook his head. There was no time for that now! He turned back to the other cats. Panic was causing the fur along his back stand on in. "Th-that's ok! We-we don't have to go through the front! We can go in through the back!" He began to lead them to the back, but had to stop and grit his teeth. His pads were blazing with pain. "No...no!" He forced himself to take another step. He had to ignore it! He had to go on! He wouldn't leave her.

Rhiannon
Kittypet Queen | She/Her

In the blazing oranges and reds that shocked through the black of soot Rhiannon was a ray of white light that broke through this painful veil. If only for a moment.

Unlike Nathaniel, a once clan cat familiar with danger and with the at least passing knowledge of how to survive hardship and wildfires Rhiannon was a lifelong kittypet. She knew nothing of devastation, of survival, and any effort to fight againt the blaze would be a risk only won with harsh sacrifice.
But above her lifestyle Rhiannon was a Mother.

The lynx point was more a snarling tiger then a house cat, bounding over a fallen burning beam with a single bound and cutting through opaque black smoke like the heat and soot didnt char her throat and the fire didnt singe her paws. None of it mattered, the molly could hear her kit in this darkened room and so would rip it apart to find Ginger.

"Just keep breathing darling, just keep making noises Im getting you out of here soon, you'll be alright my dove I just need you to keep fighting for me."
The words were constant as Rhiannon shoved open closets, overturned cushions and pushed up crumbling furniture trying to find her baby. She could hear Gingers whimpers and cries and begging and it made her frantic and desperate to find her, but the noises source was impossible to pinpoint over the crackling of the house burning down around the two and the shrill noises of the firetrucks nearby trying to dampen too many fires and the firealarms blaring.

It was too much, too much and Rhiannon could distantly feel the horrible spots of pain blooming along her white fur as she tore through the room to find her daughter. It was agonizing, worse then anything she'd ever felt before but it didnt matter, agony didnt matter, only her baby did.

Eventually Ginger was found, at the cusp of it being too late.

With a sickening snap things fell apart literally this time. A large bookcase, half destroyed as is and remaining upright by only the grace of the gods did not seem to hold it anymore as a piece fell.... Right toward Ginger.
Rhiannon moved without thinking.

The queen slammed into the thin burning wood, using all her momentum and weight to push it away even as she screamed, embers digging into her skin and searing her pelt, ripping and cutting as the wood crashed into the floor, a bare tails length away from the young molly. Rhiannon didnt want to know what she looked like as she turned to face her daughter, couldnt comprehend the state of the large throbbing patch on her shoulder she couldnt fully feel, but she imagined it was horrible.

It hardly mattered though, the queen could still move, could still her kitten out of this, and she could deal with the huge injury that'd no doubt change her life later. Dashing over despite the pain the kittypet queen grabbed Ginger by the scruff and carried her kitten away leaping over the cinder remains of their home and sprinting away from fire and ember to break out into the night air.

It was honestly not much less chaotic out here, twolegs and neighborhood cats dashing around both as the world ended, some of the humans trying to stop the blaze and others just weeping for what was lost. It was a loud riot of pain as the flames just kept spreading and so the molly didnt stop until she was on a nearby corner and had some space, finally putting down Ginger to look over the kitten.

"I- You, ok?" Rhiannons voice was wheezing and pained, smoke damage choking her from within and prompting a horrible hacking cough as adrenaline started to fade. Everything hurt and her chest was screaming but it didnt matter, it just didnt. "We're gonna wait for a bit.... Ya Pa- he's-.... Snowdrop-" How was she to say that Rhiannon just wasnt sure if Nathaniel was going to be able to get out with Gingers trapped littermate, that they might loose them tonight, be forced to move on alone if they didnt get out of the house soon. The molly couldnt, just couldnt and she slumped to the ground, still focused on checking Ginger for injuries and ignoring her own but desperate for a rest for her battered form.

This was all hell, but the molly would remain strong for her baby as long as she could manage it.

all the water in the world couldn't douse these flames.

smoke. casket smelled smoke. fire, flame, and smoke. it was a pungent, acrid scent, almost unfamiliar to him except the occasional sniff that had blown over from other forests or deep within twolegplace's tall fences and imposing buildings. caudesus place was safe, relatively from the more frightening things patrolling the twolegplace. monsters rarely roved here, and twolegs themselves were scarce and easy to avoid.

but smoke, smoke was new, and penetrated everything. it thickened, scorched the air and filled the sleuth's lungs. casket had been sitting in melancholic apathy had been watching two kits of nathaniel's, rowan and fog, when the smoke stung his lungs and he surged to his paws; protected by a wave of resolute calm. fire. fire meant death and pain. fire meant there were cats in danger-

oh stars. the kits. the kits! snowdrop and ginger were still at their twoleg home. nate and rhiannon were likely already on it, but he wasn't going to just sit on his ass and wait around to find out if they were okay.

"eagle!" rushwater, not casket, rushwater barked, voice hoarse and sharp and more urgent than it had been in moons. "watch rowan and fog, and. . . keep doing what you're doing. get everyone in who you can. if the fire comes through, it should scorch over, not under the bridge. there's so little brush and folliage down here." a brief pride flickered behind indigo eyes at his daughter's quick rise to action, but he tucked it away for later. he had to help out his found family.

his muscles stretched, joints popped, teeth gritted as he darted quickly along the path, stopping momentarily by the pond to douse himself in sopping water. anything would help stave off a flame, he supposed. anything to keep him from burning alive. if he could save at least something, at least someone, and make it back out, he'd have done well. turning, he leapt up the short rockface that lead up to the main road, paws hitting sun-hot asphalt. the acrid smell of gasoline hit his nose like a truck, alarms blaring and making his head spin. focus, sleuth, focus. dig your claws in. wrenching his claws momentarily in the asphalt, the pain a sharp reminder, he moved like a rolling river. unstoppable and unforgiving.

"this way! this way! go down, into the park! under the bridge or in the pond, the flames won't scorch where there isn't any fuel! c'mon! faster now, GO!" the blue-grey tabby called to any fleeing cats before steeling himself onwards.

he knew the path well by now, retreading old steps. hellfire rained down from buildings, flickering debris and embers littering the ground and streaming through the sky. if he didn't know better, he would have thought he'd be buried under all this flame and turned into a memory. but still, despite the heat, water dripped from his pelt and he pressed onwards.

all the water in the world couldn't douse these flames, he thought, praying silently for a rainstorm.

he wouldn't hold his breath on it, though. seconds passed, feeling like hours. a powerline, taken down by some stray debris had fallen across the street and was flickering with flame. he pressed himself low and flat, crawling underneath before springing forwards. their home was within reach. fire engulfed it, licking dangerously at everything.

it was then that he practically stumbled upon rhiannon and ginger, a horribly relieved breath escaping him. "oh thank the stars." he breathed, then pinpointed in on her stare fixated at the still-smoldering apartment.

don't be a hero. he warned himself, but his muscles were already wound up to spring. "you're hurt," he said briskly to rhiannon, though worry seeped in, "so is ginger, it looks. go. go to the bridge, eagle is there- she. . . she can heal, too, at least first aid. i'll make sure nate and snowdrop get out- or, i'll try, at least. but you can't wait around, the twoleg dens are liable to collapse like dry trees, and your wounds need immediate care-" he was talking too much. shaking his head and clearing his throat, "go, be safe. don't be a casualty, rhiannon."

rushwater paused for only a heartbeat before he plunged himself into the building and low, diving under the worst of the fire as he took note of the window to the balcony seemingly flame free- fresh plants took to flame much slower than the dry, flammable wood and drywall of the house. he reserved that thought for later.

[agatha kitty used to identify an escape route]

"NATHANIEL!" he roared, almost deafened by the crackling flames as he pushed himself sharply away, breaking free into a pocket of relatively unscathed building. it wouldn't last. he needed to find nate, and quick. he was not going to lose nathaniel this soon. he had just sunk his claws into the tom, just grown accustomed to him. he was not going to let him go. not without a fight. rhiannon needed him. ginger, rowan and fog needed him. rushwater needed him. most of the water from his pelt now dry, almost crisping at the ends, he snarled under his breath and looked for any disturbed ash. upon finding some clear skid marks in the debris, he followed until he broke through into the room with the healer and kit, an ember still flickering on his shoulder, disregarded.

"the balcony window. it's not one-hundred percent clear, but it's our best shot."

The chaos around him was almost as tangible as the heat on his tongue. He felt his breathing become more rapid, blood pulsing in his ears, as everything seemed to cave in around him. He just wanted to shrink up into a ball and wait for everything to be over... No! Max forced himself to stand straighter, and tried to get his to lie flat. This is not how the forest warriors would act in a crisis. He took a breath, trying to steady himself. He, and the other cats hiding out here, were safe for the timebeing. He padded up to the opening and pushed his head out.

It seemed unlikely that the fire would come this far, at least for now. And as more and more of the Twolegs left with their kits, things were starting to quiet down. Now the loudest thing Max could hear was the roaring flame-

"Help! Help!"

Max's ears perked in alarm. Somecat was still trapped! He pelted out of his safe hiding spot without thinking and moved towards the voice. "Where are you?" He called out. He's been practically useless so far, but maybe this was a cat he could help.

"These are sunflowers. They're called that because they always face towards the sun. That's how I want to be like... someone who always sees the bright side of things."

Basil shuddered, eyes wide, confused. What was happening? Where was Smiley? He turned around, pausing quickly as Smiley was just right behind him. Now he really needed to figure out what was happening! Why were kitties panicking around him? He perked his ears, small little tail straining as he tried to look over to the horizon. He wasn't really ... successful.

"What's happening?"

Basil said in a low, squeaky voice. He was feeling kind of worried. Were the other kitties okay? He hoped so! He felt safe with Smiley, so he felt really, okay! Maybe if the other kitties got over here they'd be okay too? He rested on that thought while he waited for a response.

[No purrks]
Dusky waited near the door. C'mon, that two legged cat should come back annyyy day now. Anyday. Why do they keep leaving him by himself in this large box everyday? And he was bored. Bored! Sniff sniff. Hey, what's that smell? That doesn't seem like a good sign. The small tom carefully rised up on his paws, he started to walk back and forth around the place. Smoke. It smelled like smoke. Fire. Fire!? What the hell!? He thought he was safe in here! He scittered through the floor, trying to seek somewhere he could hide. Fire. Fire. Fire. Fire means bad. Fire means super bad. WHERE WAS IT?? After what only felt like aa second of realization, an ear-ripping beeping noise banged through the area. What does that MEAN?? HIS EARS! His two-leg!! But his two-leg!!

But he can't burn to death. NO. HE WILL NOT be turned into a roasted cat TODAY. OR EVER. He looked at the board of...SOMETHING. There! That's were his twolegs would disappear everyday in the morning! That's always where his twolegs would walk him through to get to the park!! But how. How did these tall beings open this...this thing?? He heard a familiar jiggling noise outside. GASP. Was that them?? They were coming back home?? Oh! They must be here to safe him! But wait a minute...
The tom scittered towards the block of solid thing (counter), jumping onto the thing with his jaws grabbing onto a weird metal circle (can). He didn't know why, but he always seen some food coming out of this. Plus, his twoleg would know what to do with it! Ah..now where was he..? Oh right..

FIRE!! SMOKE!!! He carefully leaped off the counter, and off he goes to scitter back towards where he was. His twoleg! They were there!! He's safed! He watched his twoleg yowl in panic. Don't worry, he would too. He didn't have time to react, feeling himself grabbed and lifted up. Oh god the smoke was worst out here! He watched his twoleg walking low to the ground. They were keeping them both from the toxic fumes! Smart move! Surely nothing would go wrong here- oh what in the jumping hares are those. STAIRS!?

But but..he never saw any of this! Weren't they going to go through those magical boxes that takes them to a different place when they go in(elevator)?? FIRE. The fire was probably getting closer. Those screeching noises. Gosh, it sounded like the end of the world at this point. C'mon twoleg, go!!! RAAH THERE HAS TO BE SOMETHING TO SPEED UP THIS PROCESS!

He tried to let himself go from their grip, and eventually, he did end up back on his paws; dropping the metal thing he grabbed earlier. Watching it make even more noise as it rolls down the seemingly endless staircase wasn't helping. "C'MON, WE HAVE TO MAKE IT OUT" he yowled, walking down the stairs not far in front of his twoleg (not sure if that even helped but alright). Oh thank god, the seemingly endless flight of stairs end here. He turned his head and...oh god..THERE'S MORE OF THEM!? "WHY IS THERE SO MANY!?" He saw the can he dropped. Slightly roughed up but he still decided to pick it back up before walking along his twoleg
And that was when he noticed a few other twolegs walking downwards as well. Which turned out to be a curse cause the next thing he knew was his twoleg falling on the floor after that other guy (accidentally) shoved them. A hiss came out his throat. Wow. RUDE.

The stench of smoke was getting unbarable. He could feel the flames coming. Maybe it already engulfed his home in it's raging flames. That..that lovable giant foating box he and his twoleg lived in. Dusky never realized how much he loved it until now. He was going to die in here. OF ALL PLACES. He stood near his twoleg, watching as they slowly got up again. Okay, okay, calm down. This was all going to end soon. All going to be fine soon. Just- OH it's time for the two start walking again! Yea, the faster, the better. Only after what felt like ages was he and his owner managed to reach another door. But this one looked much different from the one back home. A door and...a few other people running out of it...
His eyes narrowed as they landed back on the twoleg that had pushed his. He let out a scoff. Or...as much of a scoff as he could. This can wasn't making it easy for him to let out any sound but at least he can still scowl it em'. If he could land his claws on him then he'll be happy. He didn't know where else to go. So he could really only follow his owner from here on out. Cough. So much debris. And fire- OH YEA HE CAN SEE THE FIRE CLEARLY NOW. Was hell upon them or something? This wasn't something normal

His paws continued to follow his owner's every move. There was other cats here in this area...other people too...so it...it must be safe, right? Right? The fire can't possible spread out here, right? This was..surely a safespot. But he could still feel his heart trying to leave his body. He watched his twoleg sloutched on the ground, breathing heavily. He walked close to his owner, sitting near them as they gently drop the can of food back on the ground. "We're..safe now...right..?" he can only hope so.

[Semi-Open? Eh, may or may not respond. I made this unnecessarily long when it's literally just Dusky and his owner going through the evacuation exit towards the safezone ]

Raider heard a cat calling him—a voice—and his head shot up. The flames licking at his tree sparked and hissed as they began to eat the wood up—and up—and up— Ray called out, his voice strangled with fear. “H-help! Help me! Over h-here!” the hoarseness of his words surprised even him. Ray shook with the fear for his life. “H-hello?” Max! He heard several cat’s calling him. It was Max! The kittypet who lived just down the road! “Max?” another voice. “S-seastone!” His friends.
