Diesel's Place

Diesel yawned and stretched, feeling their stiff muscles loosen. The calico shook out their fur before padding out into the strong sunlight. The mouse they had caught that morning laid on a rock next to the den, and they settled down to eat.
Before they could take a bite, cat scent tickled their nose, and Diesel sneezed. Hmm. They smell clean, a bit like a Twoleg. They noted.
Probably a kittypet. Diesel added, their green eyes glinting with amusement.
"Hello? Anyone there?" Diesel chirped, friendly and warm. They had found that cats, especially kittypets, responded better if they thought that the calico didn't know they were there.
"You can come out, if you'd like. I won't hurt you." They mewed.

Pipsqueak had woke up to a nice sunny day, the perfect day to explore! Of course, he got too curious and left his twolegs den. But that was fine!
He padded forward, the small brown tom humming happily as he looked around. But once he saw a feline he ducked behind a rock. Good thing he was small! "A loner!" he gasped quietly, ears perking at the felines words.

Had they heard him? Pip hoped not! They seemed nice. The Kittypet poked his head out from behind the rock, looking curiously at the calico. "Hello?" he said carefully, tilting his head to the side. They wouldn't hurt him! Right?
He walked out from behind the rock, awing slightly. "Wow...a real loner! What's your name? I'm Pipsqueak, but people call me pip or pippy, because im small!" he meowed.

Diesel gave a small purr of laughter, blinking their green eyes at Pipsqueak. Admiring the small tom's energy.
"I'm Diesel. Nice to meet you, Pippy. You're a bit far from the Twoleg nests, aren't you?" Diesel gave the kittypet a look of mild concern, ears pricked towards the nests of stone and sometimes wood.
"Anways, your a brave little cat coming into the woods." Diesel commented. As long as the tiny cat was with them, he would be safe. Other cats, especially some the calico knew, wouldn't be so kind to the kittypet.
Instead of voicing these thoughts and potentially scaring Pipsqueak, Diesel gestured to the mouse at their paws. They shoved it toward him.
"Would you like to try a mouse? I'm sure it's different from the food your Twolegs give you."

Pipsqueak shook his head at the offer. How could a cat eat something with so much fur? He thought his kittypet food was much better than a mouse. "No thanks,,, how do you eat it with so much fur anyways?" he inquired, craning his neck to see his twolegs nest a few tree lengths away.

Diesel gave the cat a slightly confused look.
"I get by. It doesn't have as much fur as a squirrel though!" Diesel chuckled.
"So, Pippy. What brings you to the forest? Looking for adventure, or something else?" Diesel rested their chin on one paw, gazing at him thoughtfully. They remembered when they were that young and carefree. It seemed so long ago.
