Blackhaze traversed the forest with ease, he was looking for cats that could be here year round instead of only when they were sleeping. He had hoped to find them here with Ashenpaw, that way everyone stayed in the loop. Keeping cats trusting you and in the loop was majorly important, he’d at least learned that much from Falcondive. Ugh, the mere thought of him made Blackhaze repulsed.

Coldpath was stalking between two skeletal pines, his amber eyes lambent in the oppressive dark his voice, manic and broken, rang through the desolate forest as he frantically talked to himself.
“I did them all a favor...a favor, hahaha! What would he have done for them, huh? Become clan leader? Infected them with his weakness? He doesn’t deserve to be in StarClan. He doesn’t deserve talented sons—“ he laughed dryly, frantically, pacing madly, “If only I could kill them too...it should’ve been me—it was always me—then why did they always choose him, over me, huh? I was prettier, I was smarter...why, why, WHY?!” Coldpath cried into the endless night, then erupted with manic laughter again.

Ashenpaw stalked through the Darkforest beside Blackhaze, silently watching for any unknown cats. He knew that they were looking for more recruits, but he wasnt sure as to how long they would be looking, or if they would even find a suitable cat. He didnt know anyone other than Blackhaze that lived in the Darkforest, so he knew that it would be best to let the former warrior do most of the talking. It was quiet in the forest, with the only sounds being the sounds of their paws hitting the ground as they walked. That is, until he heard the maniacal laughter coming from in front of them. Stalking slowly forward, he eventually came to see another tom. This one seemed to be older than the both of them, and appeared to not be all that stable. Eyes narrowing in suspicion, he slowed his pace and glanced over to the black tom, "Do you know this guy?" he asked, tail tip flicking and he examined Coldpath.

Blackhaze shook his head, “No clue, but I’ve heard him.” He mewed quietly. The less they spooked Thai cat the better. He carefully stalked forward and flicked his tail to motion Ashenpaw to follow him closely. As he got about two tail-lengths from the cat he stopped.

“Hello.” He mewed as smoothly as he could. It was best to start from a hello, find out what this cats deal was. He hoped that Ashen would follow along with what he said once everything started.

As a voice broke his manic ranting, Coldpath whipped around. His pupils were dilated, electric green eyes nearly lambent in the oppressive dark. He was silent for a moment, his ornate pelt bristled, tail lashing. He assessed the warrior and his younger companion with vicious hungry eyes, and a toothy grin slowly spread across his maw.
“Well, hello there...” he hummed, his voice sultry and laced with bitter malice. He circled them, head low, muscular shoulders rolling beneath his silvery pelt, “To what do I owe the honor? I do not have guests often.”

Clenching his jaw, Ashenpaw confidently strode forward. Since Blackhaze didnt know him either, they had to be careful. He didnt seem to be all that predictable, and he didnt really feel like getting mauled. Something about the unknown cat just rubbed him the wrong why, and it wasnt all that hard to guess why. As he started speaking again, Ashenpaw stood up straighter "Whats it to ya?" he drawled, narrowing his eyes at Coldpath. He didnt plan on letting Coldpath know his name, at least... not yet. Whether he was trustworthy or not, they would soon find out.

Blackhaze has been listening to what words he’d been saying. He hoped Ashen caught in that they were about to stroke this cats ego like they were swimming. “We just came to personally thank you for all that you’ve done. Really and truly your work inspires me. I can’t believe I’m meeting you. Wow you’re even better in real life.” He mewed eyes a bit wider and smile a bit bigger for effect. This was on his nerves but they had to get him to trust them and to stop being a wackadoo for a bit.

When the apprentice spoke, there was no contempt in Coldpath's manic stare--instead, there was a deeply unsettling hunger, borne by empty eyes.
He perked up, however, when Blackhaze spoke. A chilling grin worked its way across the silvery tom's features, and he tilted his head slowly in awe.
"Ah...you know about my...commission work, shall we call it?" he chuckled darkly, eyes unsettlingly wide, "Then you must know that Sorreltail was my prized trophy. Oh, friend, you have no idea what a thrill it was. StarClan's golden boy, choking on his own blood beneath my paws, a true masterpiece...if only I could get my paws on his ridiculous sons..." he trailed off, his lusty grin intensifying, "You must be a cat of fine taste, what is your name? You look familiar...you've a...how should I put it...power of presence, I think I've sensed before." he inquired, studying Blackhaze with maddened green eyes.
