Phantomsoul was sorting herbs and getting rid of dead ones. Winter was coming soon, so some warriors would say to keep everything, but that was stupid. Herbs were no use if they were dead, they would just rot. The rot would spread to other healthy herbs and then where would they be?

Iciclepaw padded into the herb storage area. His blue gaze passed on all the herbs, making sure there weren’t any missing that had to be restocked. It didn’t seem like there were any, so he prepared to leave the room. But of course, he just had to check. Being a medicine cat was a big responsibility, and he couldn’t mess it up. So Iciclepaw checked for a second time. Then a third. Maybe he did it three times more, but he couldn’t tell. The light brown apprentice sighed.

The tom’s black fur exposed him from the snow below him. Icyheart padded to the clearing, his icy blue gaze looking around. He flicked his ears as snow landed on them. He sat down, licking his rough, long fur to make sure it is well groomed. (OPEN)

Infernoblizzard stopped by the herb storage, smiling slightly as Iciclepaw angrily checked the herbs. "Icicle," he rumbled calmly. "Look, I'm certain they're all there. If you want to get more, we can go look for them. Do you want to? Phantomsoul can come too, if you want - and if they want. We should probably ask them." The huge tom curled his tail around his paws and sat outside the herb storage patiently, calmly awaiting the apprentice's answer. Icicle was a good medicine cat apprentice, Inferno reflected. Completely loyal to the Clan, believing in StarClan.. yes. Those were all good traits in a medicine cat

"No need, I'm here. Iciclepaw, you're right. We may have enough for now, but we'll need to gather more herbs for drying to last through leaf-bare." Phantomsoul purred slightly with pride. Iciclepaw was a good apprentice, and would be a good medicine cat if something happened to them.

His ears perked up at his mentor and leader talking.
”Huh? Oh, I guess, I just can’t see if we’re missing any or not..” his words drifted away as his eyes scanned yet again.
After a few moments, he knew what was missing.
“I knew it,” Iciclepaw mewed to himself under his breath.
The light brown apprentice turned back to them.
“We’ll need some Alpine Flowers, I think,” he mewed, giving a brief glance backwards.
”I can go out and get some, if you like.” he offered Phantomsoul.

Infernoblizzard grinned and nudged Icicepaw lightly with his muzzle. "Knew my son would be the best medicine cat ever," he purred. "Just knew it. Which means.. " The tom's ears perked up and he stopped Icicle. "Wait. I have an important announcement to make." He galloped over to the Coldrock and perched atop it. "All cats old enough to survive a blizzard gather beneath the Coldrock!" Inferno howled. "It's time to choose a deputy."
