Hyperion's Mansion [ OPEN THREAD ]

https://images-wixmp-ed30a86b8c4ca88...zvnj6jzzq2qW8w

A distance away from the Clan territories and the Twolegplace sits a mansion atop a hill. Once grand, polished, and awe-inspiring, it now sits abandoned, overgrown, and ramshackle. Hyperion, a large orange tom with few rosette markings, occupies this abandoned manor. Its size makes it a perfect place for a single cat to defend, and it's chock-full of prey even during the coldest of leaf-bares.

The exterior has long been overtaken by vines and ivy, the extravagant interior sits mostly untouched, however dusty it may have become. Several bedrooms make for warm sleeping spaces and the large, open living areas serve as decent hunting stashes. The roof is easily accessible through the broken windows.

Although this is Hyperion's home, he has no issue with lending space to those who need it.

◘ Monarch _ She/he/they

Monarch had been driven out of their home, driven out of the place so special to her mother by rats, they could hardly believe it. Ever since cats had been stopping by her place and not shown to be hostile, they had let their guard down, only to be gravely injured by what could only be described as a horde of rats. They felt disappointed in themselves, but they shouldn't spend too much time dwelling on it, rat scratches and bites were the worst to deal with, they just needed to find an actually cooperative cat to stay with.

Coming upon a small abandoned looking house, they rushed over, hope filling their gut, only to have a surprising burst of pain hit their side as the wind was struck from them. There was a cat, smaller than them, clawing at their unprotected side. All Monarch could do is react, springing upward and using their long claws across their head. Bafflingly, the cat obviously didn't expect that, letting out a yowl and jumping backward, they hissed, their back arching. Monarch's fur started to bristle, their claws sliding out, but with seeing such a small cat try to defend their home it must be important, so in the end, they left them.

They growled and grumbled, limping about from the nips the smaller cat had managed to their leg. In the distance, they could see an abandoned twoleg nest, but good golly was it huge, like nothing they'd seen before, this sparked hope once again, they wouldn't say no to them with such a big place.

Haven was slinking about, trying to keep a calm, confident walk. That was somewhat hard when his stomach was rumbling. The skinny tom had managed to catch an old mouse or two a while ago, managing to bite it without it slipping away, but his lack of claws was really annoying. Well, that and his lack of general athletic ability and wispy disposition.

Suddenly, a large building came into view. Admittedly, Haven didn't concern himself with aesthetics (you couldn't eat aesthetics) but he had to admit, this building was grand. Impressive, even. It peaked his interest a little. However, how would this benefit him? Hmmm...abandoned buildings were known for having mice and rats in them. Perhaps he could give it a shot.

The skinny tom put much effort into jumping up onto a windowsill and sneaking past some boards. He looked around quietly...

>Hyperion<
The wind blew the scent of blood through the manor and Hyperion lifted his head from its place on his paws, nose twitching. Well, that was never good. The orange tom rose to his feet and sprang through a broken window, down onto a lower tiled out cropping, and landed easily on the overgrown lawn. From his place on the hill he could easily see the figure of a cat approaching. Whiskers twitching, Hyperion began to make his way down. "Hello there! Can I help you?"

There was an odd creaking of tile and wood as Hyperion strode through the mansion's halls. They certainly didn't come from his own pawsteps and he was immediately set on edge. Who was sneaking around in his home at this time? An unfamiliar scent floated down from the upper floors and Hyperion's hackles rose. Absolutely not.

The orange tom made a beeline for the entrance space and immediately bounded up the steps, turned a corner sharply, and skidded to a stop in a long hallway. The scent was much stronger up here. "Whoever is sneaking around my home," he called out coldly, voice echoing off of the walls, "I'm afraid I must ask you to leave. I don't tolerate trespassers."

The skinny tom was well aware of the statement "curiosity killed the cat" so je trier to display little of it. His main goal was to find food right now, so he sniffed the air. Haven's nose was suddenly met by the scent of cat and he drew back immediately. It was quite a big building, perhaps it belonged to many cats. At least one, definitely. Haven's did his best not to stray into territories unless he was starving and needed to find a cat to swindle. And, admittedly, he was starting right now, so instead of running away the tom slunk out of the shadows, backing up to where he'd cone from.

"Oh, um, I beg your pardon?! Silly me, I had not realized this place was someone's territory. Its quite impressive, you know. I'm quite sorry, probably missed a territory marker." he said, taking a position of someone who was leaving but not quite...leaving.

>Hyperion<
Hyperion rounded a corner and came face to face with the sneak traipsing around his home. His blue eyes narrowed at the stranger, flickering over his figure briefly before returning to his face. Hyperion's jaw was set and his shoulders squared, claws just barely showing. "Quite," he said coldly. "Unless you are here for food or temporary security, I suggest that you leave."

Haven looked the "owner" of this place up and down. He looked like some well-fed prissy kitty Prince, but of course Haven wouldn't say that put loud. So much aggression fir one house that this guy seemed to have claimed all for himself. Who did he think he was? However, Haven was a conman, not a fighter. And, despite the stranger's snooty air, he seemed to be offering food and shelter. Ugh, Haven was not entirely against begging, usually fir his life, but he liked to avoid it when he could and preserve what little dignity the coward had left.
"Oh? Food, you say? Then you are very kind. You see, that's the reason I wandered in here in the first place. Haven't been able to find as much as a mouse whisker out there, haven't eaten in a while. Um, my name is Haven. I'm a wandering healer. And with who am I conversing, besides the owner of this lovely establishment?" he asked. Kissing up wasn't his favourite but the chimera Tom didn't hold grudges or care about honesty do long as he got what he wanted.
