Re: Race Across Land! (WindClan Event For Apprentices and Warriors, and High Ranks)
Snowypaw As his tongue gave a raspy lick through his chest fur, cleaning himself up thoroughly before starting his training for the day - and mentally swearing to the stars for how much harder his fur got to keep clean as it grew into its adult coat - Snowypaw stopped mid lick, his ear twitching at the sound of a yowl emanating from Breezerock. Curiously, the large tom looked up, not being able to pinpoint the voice as Twilightstar's and instead having his gaze land on a smaller warrior with white fur. Recognizing the cat as Redspeckle from around camp, Snowypaw tilted his head, wondering if something had happened during the night. The warrior did not seem to be in distress, in any case, so probably nothing bad. As the warrior kept talking, Snowypaw's eyes grew round, nerves making him shuffle his massive paws on the sand. A race? Oh StarClan above. He was sure to not be any good at that! He was already clumsy enough on a daily basis - even if he had been getting much better about not greeting the dirt with his face as often - he could only imagine how poorly his participation would be in such an event! Not to mention the fact that this was going to be a team event? The large apprentice shuddered, a twinge of anxiety twisting his insides as he started picturing the looks of anger and disappointment in the faces of whatever poor cats were saddled with him. Maybe it would be best to sit this one out? Nodding to himself, Snowypaw decided this was the best course of action, and was ready to leave the clearing in search of Deadmoon when he stopped on his tracks. Deadmoon. The patched tom sighed. What kind of an apprentice would he be if he didn't take the opportunity to train his weaknesses? Yes, he would probably bring down whatever team he was put in, but wasn't it worse if he didn't even try? He remembered the look on Deadmoon's face whenever he took initiative. It was a look of pride, clearly displaying how pleased she was with her apprentice. Did he really want to give her any reason for feeling anything but? No. He owed this to her. Resolution glimmering in his eyes, he turned his gaze once more towards Breezerock, nodding to himself one more time before he stepped forward, hoping the other cats wouldn't mind having to put up with his clumsy antics for just a little while. |

Rosepaw Post Count: 2/100 (Open :heartbounce:) Rosepaw slipped into the clearing with a small yawn, sapphire-blue gaze darting around camp. The peach-furred she-cat let out an unintentional, contented purr after settling down to sun-bathe in a vacant, sunny spot. She hesitated a few moments, looking around to make sure she hadn't stolen someones spot before beginning to groom her long, silky fur. Rosepaw didn't necessarily go to extreme lengths to look decidedly pretty at all times, but she usually at least took time to clean her fur. Messy fur gave her mild OCD. Yes, that was it ...And perhaps she felt a bit self-conscious about what others thought of her. Having a good appearance would make someone at least appreciate that she had enough responsibility to properly take care of herself. Sometimes, her OCD built upon seeing ungroomed cats and made her want to walk up to the offending feline and smooth down their fur until it looked perfect. Of course, if she went around grabbing others to fix their pelts, someone would eventually snap and kick her out. Once she’d pushed those wayward, -and rather reckless-, thoughts away, Rosepaw completed her grooming and lifted her head, quietly gazing around camp for someone to talk to. Her vision snagged here and there on cats her age, but Rosepaw wasn’t the open type to go around and bother others with her presence, as she called it. If someone came up to her and said something, on the other hand, she’d light up, animatedly discussing whatever topic they wanted. And she would have fun doing it. Of course, she was not naturally rude… But if the situation arose, Rosepaw could be rather hot-headed and moody. Nonetheless, Rosepaw had recently realized that she was in dire need of friends, or at least, a single cat to talk to. Sure, she was not entirely desperate, but being alone to her own thoughts was getting to be tiring, and lonely. So, shoving down any remaining saddened feelings, the cream-furred female perked her ears in an effort to look approachable, smiling hesitantly at anyone who glanced her way. That was when she heard a yowl reverberate through camp, and the feline’s gaze shot up to fix on Redspeckle. Rosepaw had seen xem around camp a couple times, but had never directly interacted with the warrior. Now, tilting her head to the side in question, Rosepaw stood and walked over to stand almost directly under Breezerock, fur swaying in the light breeze. Turning her face upward to look at Redspeckle, Rosepaw waited until xe had finished speaking. “A race across the moor?” She mused out loud to herself, eyes crinkling at the corners as she stood there, lost in thought. “Sounds… fun. And a little fun probably can't hurt.” Rosepaw murmured, and then sat down, re-wrapping her tail around her paws to wait for more cats to gather, or for Redspeckle to announce anything else. |

Rabbiteye padded into camp. He pricked his ears to listen to Redspeckle. A race? Why not.
Swiftheart lifted his head. "I'll join," he called, padding over. |

Specklepaw flattened her ears. She knew it- she shouldn’t join- well, more like it, she mentally couldn’t join.
She slunk forward, panting slightly. The world around her seemed to swirl, and she felt dizzy. Cats wouldn’t like her as much if she didn’t join events. She small Molly took a deep breath, and padded light headed into the forming crowd. It would be good running practice. Though when a rare moment came when Specklepaw was actually happy, she was pretty fast, when she was in this usual mood, she wasn’t confident enough with it to succeed. She sat down hesitantly, and looked around at the others. |

Hawknight was interested. Despite his size he was still quite the runner

Fallownose pricked his ears at the sound of his name, at first thinking that something was wrong before he realized it was only Redspeckle calling an event. He had recently decided to get more involved with the Clan, and what better way than to join a Clanwide event? Especially a race where his long legs would give him the advantage. Plus, the deputy always enjoyed the feeling of the wind whistling through his fur as he chased prey or simply ran for the fun of it. |
