Pride of Proxima || p

Lucy Blackwell
14 years old || appearance || witch

Don't mess this up.

Lucy stood at the bottom of a steep hill, clutching her suitcase in one hand and broomstick in the other. She also had on a backpack, which held a fluffy white cat who was napping contentedly. Lucy craned her neck to stare at the structure on top of the hill: A rickety shrine with creepers and vines climbing the edges, where a few other witches stood, conversing with their friends.

Usually, the top of the hill was abandoned, with only a crow or two singing their melancholy songs -- Lucy could usually be found there too, she quite admired crows, and it was far better than staying at home with her mother -- but today was different. It was the first day of school for many young witches, and Lucy was one of them. The other witches atop the hill were waiting for the shrine to activate, so they could be teleported to the secret location of Stargazer Academia, the biggest witch school in the world. Her entire family had graduated from Stargazer, and soon, she'd be following in their footsteps.

Lucy watched the witches play, laugh, talk, and practice magic. She glanced at her broom. She couldn't even get it to fly. She sighed, rocking back and forth on the balls of her feet. The Blackwells were the most powerful witches in the land, with powers the likes of which most have never seen. The other witches of the village envied them. But for some reason, Lucy just couldn't get the hang of magic. She could only perform simple cantrips, and that, as her father said, brought shame upon the Blackwell family. They'd hidden Lucy away in the mansion for most of her childhood.

But Stargazer Academia was a chance to prove herself. She would finally make friends, learn magic, and maybe she could show her family that she could become more than a lowly kitchen witch. With newfound confidence at the thought, she straightened her posture and grinned. Lucy had to get up the hill somehow...and walking seemed to be the only other way.

[ @Caspian gaaah wish this post coulda been better but I just wrote a whole bunch of my other story so my creativity for today's been spent :sob: ]

Day hummed a positive tune, walking along gleefully. He didn’t mind if he was going to a new school, he’d make new friends! New opportunities, new people— er— new witches, and a new school! Day was so excited. Everything would be so happy and nice and wonderful! All he had to do was be positive and enthusiastic with whatever he did, whenever, whoever. Just stay positive and look on the bright side, Day! He told himself, walking along happily, as he liked to walk. After his parents had an argument when he was little, Day would go outside and take walks to calm himself down, so he eventually made a habit of going on walks.

Day was originally planning to fly up on his broomstick, but he then noticed somebody who seemed to be . He ran over to her with a smile on his face. “Hi! I’m Day, what’s your name?” He asked excitedly, extending a hand for the girl to shake. His overall appearance was an average-sized boy, from the looks of it he was 14-15, somewhere in between. He had dark skin with a lighter splotch on the left side of his face, light yellow eyes that seemed almost white, messy and mop-like light orange hair with darker orange at the ends of it.

Lucy turned her head to face the boy running towards her. Wait, boy running towards her-? She jumped a bit, and her cat in the backpack let out an indignant mew, but Lucy calmed down after seeing the boy's excited manner. She smiled, shaking his hand in the strong, confidant way her brother had taught her. "Hello!" she said. "I'm Lucy, Lucy Blackwell."

She hoped Day wouldn't be intimidated by the name, but at the same time, she knew he'd probably heard of her already. Everybody had heard of the weakest Blackwell in the world if they lived in this village. Either way, she decided not to think about that and just stay positive. It was easy to, with this boy's cheerful demeanor. "You're going to Stargazer Academia, right?" she asked.

(oh nooo lol!!)
