Vervain paced anxiously in the barn, tail lashing and ears pinned. She'd have to tell Vanta eventually, right...? She couldn't keep it a secret. It would only ruin their relationship. And she didn't want that. But...
No. No. She'd tell him. In fact, she was going to tell him RIGHT NOW! YES MHM TOTALLY! IT WAS GOING COMPLETELY WELL AND SHE DEFINITELY WASN'T FREAKING THE HELL OUT!!!!!!! Heh. Hehe. Hehehehehe.
Ahem, anyways. Back to the more serious matter. She knew exactly what this feeling was. 20 moons ago. The same thing. It did not end well. She feared it would be the same again.

"V-Vanta." She found herself stammering, tail no longer lashing but cautiously curld around one of her hind paws. When had she gotten here? "I've.. Ehm. I've something to tell you. Uh. Don't... Freak out, please?" The last question, despite her wanting it to sound like a humourous statement, it sounded more desperate and pleading.

confusion lit up his gaze, he got to his paws and pressed his nose into her fur. "ehhh y' know i ain' the type t' freak out."

Alright, great. So Vanta won't freak out. Debatable, though. She definitely was freaking out. She did't want to tell him. Suddenly, this felt all wrong. She didn't want to do this. But... She'd dipped her paws in the water already. Better now then never. His affection made it... A little easier, she supposed.

"W-well... Uh-" She was a mess. Her breath caught in her throat and she could barely stand still. She heavily sat herself down, mouth opening and closing multiple times like a fish before she finally mustered up enough courage to speak those words. "I'm expecting kits." Don't freak out, don't freak out, don't freak out... Don't leave .....

his reassurance seemed to calm her down, that was good. he curled his tail around her gently whispering its okay. its alrigh'. 'm here for ya. to his darling, his starry sky, his everything. when she stuttered, he waited.

then, she said it. i'm expecting kits. was it a dream? it had to be, there was no other explanation. but... it felt real. so very real. his mouth moved before his mind did. "a-are they... mine?" his eyes glazed over in thought, "a-actually, don'.... don' answer that. no matter what, luv. 'm here for ya. if they're mine or not, it doesn' matter."

he pressed his nose into her neck, a gentle reminder of what he loved. "i'll be a better father than wormbite, i'll be there for 'em." speaking of wormbite, he should ask vervain... "the... the clans, yeah? they... they'll be shelter for us 'n our kits. i want them t' be safe, t' be loved withou' fear. we can't protect 'em all on our own."

rosy, his daughter, their daughter... would she come with them? she was old enough to make her decision, yeah? "rosy... if she... decides not t' come with us... i can bring 'er t' rune... it... would take care of her. it... would understand, i think. i just 'ope.. that rosy would understand it as well."

he blinked affectionately, shuffling closer to his love, his starlight, the waves to his ocean. his world. as long as vervain was here, he would be okay. forever.
