"no, it's just weird. you're weird in general, not the good kind either." was there even a good type of weird? buzzardpaw wasn't too sure, but she knew adderflower was a weirdo who was anything but good. she could probably scare her opponents without being super weird about it, she didn't want to seem like some vulture circling its prey. (she wanted to be something obviously way cooler, like a bear.)
a sense of pride filled her as her mentor confirmed that her jump wasn't bad, albeit with annoyance due to being called a kit. she crouched down again, much better than she initially did the first time, and jumped as high as she could while slashing at the air with unsheathed claws. her landing was also notably better, no stumbling or anything.

Adderflower held back a growl as he apprentice called her weird.
“
And what would you prefer instead? For me to coddle you? To tell you the world is filled like love and happiness and that skills like fighting are useless? You are lucky enough to receive me as a mentor as I am one of the few cats who can teach you more than just becoming an adequate warrior. Your presence, whether in both battle and in clan life with put you apart. So weird to you is powerful to me. To me you are obnoxiously. Annoying. Arrogant. Perhaps one day I will view you as proud, able, and someone to be respected. But regardless of my thoughts I believe you feel differently about yourself.”
Watching Buzzardpaw redo do the jump with good form made Adderflower almost purr with satisfaction.
“
Yes much better! Now you have a chance of inflicting some damage.” She had to admit, she was somewhat proud, she didn’t expect Buzzardpaw to be any good at today’s training.
Her eyes flickered up to the sky, the day had almost fully passed by. They had been training ever since the ceremony and even Adderflower was feeling a bit hungry. She decided that she would have to start finishing this lesson.
“
Now what you just did, redo it but on your landing add an additional swipe at the feet. Like so.”
Adderflower crouched for a second and then sprang upwards, her long claws slashing at the air. As she landed on her hind legs she allowed herself to compact her squat and she shot out a paw low, cutting an imaginary cats legs. She could almost taste the scent of blood.
She turned to Buzzardpaw.
“
After you show me you can do this we will stop for today.”
