Overbearing parents led Spider to develop some important life skills! Such as how to lie on the spot, advanced passive aggression, and maintaining a variety of unhealthy coping mechanisms. Spider's mother and her unforgiving, emotion-challenged outlook on life taught him to hide his mistakes and deal with anything real on his own. He’s an expert at focusing on other cats' emotions but can't do the same for himself...which sucks because he’s pretty emotional. If he’s in a funk, Spider needs to verbal process for AGES before he figures out why.

Being an isolated but extroverted kit drove Spider to keep secrets. He got better at telling white lies to play nice with his parents on the surface while doing new, sometimes risky stuff behind their backs out of desperation for some space to be himself. This…may or may not have gotten him into trouble at times. Ahem. No one needs to know.

He loves portraying himself as independent, but Spider has a sort of contradictory reliance on his siblings. He cares for them deeply and often tries pushing the shyer ones into activities of self-expression; this is part for their sake, in part for his own, as doing stuff for them gives him courage to do it for himself too. (He’s a terrible wonderful influence on the younger siblings especially.) Family is family and he’ll never leave them -- even if this isn’t always a healthy mindset for all involved.

As much as Spider champions little acts of rebellion and being unapologetically yourself, he struggles to genuinely walk the talk. Since he wasn't socialized with other kits traditionally, Spider overcompensates in friendships by reading others’ energy and blending into it; now Spider can hold a conversation and usually ends up liked by most cats! All for the very low price of masking his real opinions and emotions. (: [Deep down Spider hates that he doesn't take his own advice. Sometimes he'll slip up and snap at his family because they reflect his own insecurity. Spider doesn't want the cats he cares about to live this way, so why can’t he stop?]

what would be their relationship with wolfwhisper ? : More cuddles <33 Spider would be one of Wolfwhisper’s biggest supporters!…Even though Wolf might not always love Spider’s way of doing it. I could see Spider impatiently trying to get Wolf to be more assertive, might possibly talk over him (although it’s unintentional and Spider apologizes if he crosses a line.) On a good note though, he would encourage and admire Wolf’s creativity and always be there for him if needed ~
