As his apprentice touched noses with him he chuckled,
“I’m sure you will... and I’ll work hard too, I’ll make sure you become the best Warrior you can be one day.”
He drew back after this.
What he said wasn’t empty words, for Hawthornmist, apprentices were no joke, and now that he finally had one, he would do whatever it took to make sure Orchidpaw didn’t end up like... well, he was going to do his best.
As Hawthornmist sat down to continue listening to the meeting, Kestrelstar said something that sent a chill down this spine, both his blind eye and his normal eye widened in shock, he had to bite his tongue to keep from yowling at him.
Kill on sight?! No way was the Warrior to do that! His sister was in ThunderClan! He was Half-ThunderClan!
Not that he was loyal to ThunderClan in any way... he had made that decision long ago after Pinepaw ran off.
Maybe it was his ThunderClan blood speaking, but he could never kill one of his sister’s clanmates, no matter what was going on.
Also... didn’t the Warrior Code forbid this kind of conduct?
Oh yeah, though, didn’t this same almighty Code say that he, Hawthornmist, shouldn’t exist?
Yeah, but it was very clear about the no-murder thing...

What had happened to the leader to cause him to say this?!
For the first time in his life, Hawthornmist was going to defy an order from his leader.
