daisybird still could not tell if she was dreaming or really awake – but if it was a dream, it sure was one that she didn't want to wake up from as she stepped foot into the leaders den. her steps felt light and airy, her eyes were wide and gleaming with joy. those things contrasted with the circles under her eyes.

"kestrelstar," she called out, "i almost thought you'd just up and left your clan after the first few sunrises," she admitted, though, she didn't sound as angry as she had the past times. she even sounded a bit thankful. "but that's not what i came here to say, if you can believe it."

"hawkkit..she's alive, in the nursery! I'm not sure how-" the memory of carrying hawkkits body briefly flashed in her mind, causing her to grimace for a moment. "but, i'm not complaining though.." it was a blessing of sorts, really, even if she had lost her other kits who she missed dearly. she could manage with one kit.

the grimace had slowly formed into a half smile. "i'll be a queen until she's an apprentice, but i was wondering if an arrangement of sorts could be made, so i could permanently be a queen." daisybird meowed. even if she proved to have..just a bit of bad luck with kits, she seemed to have some spirit at least. "I could take in orphaned kits, or supply milk if another queen can't produce any."

Upon his return, a few things had managed to capture Kestrelstar's attention. The first was the hug pile of crabs. His first emotion was shock, which soon faded away into gratitude. There was only one cat who knew of his affinity for the delicacy, and he'd have to make sure he spoke to her soon.

Ears swiveled to the entrance of his den as light pawsteps could be heard. And then words followed, and briefly the leaders ears pulled back. He'd have to get used to that, his Clan's broken faith in him. At least Daisybird didn't sound angry - the gray tabby would take it as a win. "I'm back for good," he added, regardless. Actions were much more powerful for him right now over words, but that didn't mean he couldn't voice his promises.

The news about Hawkkit wasn't as startling as it could've been. What with witnessing Fernpaw coming back to life - in his den no less - the shock of the dead rejoining the living didn't phase him as much. "That's great to hear," he offered the queen a slight smile. Briefly, his mind wondered just how it worked; did StarClan decide who went back? Or was it the cats themselves?

Something to worry and reflect on later, Kestrelstar supposed.

At Daisybird's request, the gray tabby hesitated. Forever queens weren't a bad idea - perhaps by allowing one or two it would keep the kits in line. "...Very well. As long as you're positive it won't be too much for you. Kits can be a paw-full at times." Yellow eyes watched the queen with a small amount of warmth. She reminded him of his mother quite a bit, though Duskfall had never wanted to be a forever queen. But the love of a mother didn't know rank, and both cats he knew had that.
