The tom had been in his sunny spot for a whole of five seconds when one of his kits approached. He looked up, not recognizing the voice at first, with a scowl. When he registered it was one of his kits, he immediately and visibly brightened. His facial features lifted into a cheery smile and his head shot up from his paws. Mistpaw! I'm fine, if a bit tired, how are you, my dear? he purred. His nose went forward to tap hers as he smiled lovingly at her. His fur fluffed up against a cold breeze that blew through camp.
