Generally if Crowtooth had reason to enter the leaders den he'd announce himself and wait to be invited in out of simple respect.... That wasnt an option this time. His mewling bundle couldnt stay out in the cold for long and with his mouth occupied with carrying her he could only scuff his paw along the floor to notify the leader of his presence before ducking in, confident she'd understand why once she saw him.
A two day old at most kitten all alone with no scent to tell her origins but defiantly not windclan left in the cold. Crowtooth had been meticulous in his covering of the kits once shadowclan scent until nothing but the smell of sweet grass that grew on the moor remained and he'd similarly constructed an airtight story he wouldnt let fail to ensure Brookkit would stay. She was
his sister now, his, shadowclan obviously didnt take proper care of the kitten and she'd live much better here as a windclan cat then she'd ever live as one of those heartless beasts. Besides he'd take good care of her, he'd been a great brother until.... Well, moving on.
Carefully placing the kitten between his paws Crowtooth settled in to bring her close to his fluffy chest for warmth and finally spoke.
"Im sorry to disturb you Twilightstar but... Well I was hunting on the moor to refill prey stores after that storm and I found her in the middle of the territory with no signs of where she came from. I hunted around but I couldnt find another cat or kittens that might be her kin and she bears no scent marker of anyone. I... Well I couldnt leave her there shes so small and would defiantly die alone out there and well I wanted to ask... Can she please stay in windclan? Ill hunt for her and find a queen to nurse her until shes weaned and I'd be happy to look for her kin until she's an apprentice (I figured if I cant find them by then they're gone) anything I just..... I've been calling her Brookkit already anyways..." He was sure Twilightstar would make the connection between her name and Creekdash.
"I just dont think she has family elsewhere and I think she'd be happy here." The tom had been gently curling around the kitten as he spoke emotion in his voice thickening the rasp and obscuring all signs of the falsehoods in his voice. He felt terrible about lying to her even though he hid every sign of that with the same skills he'd used to disguise his sneaking about in the tunnels as an apprentice but he couldnt allow even a single chance of not being able to keep his new sister.
